Choosing among various AIOs can be a challenge; each comes with different sizing and pricing. When speaking of dual-fan AIO radiators, you can choose between 240mm and 280mm AIOs. The 240mm radiator can house two 120mm fans, while the 280mm can house up to two 140mm fans. One might think that an increment of just 20mm won’t make any difference, but that isn’t the Case. It does make a difference, so much so that a regular 280mm AIO will perform better than a high-end 240mm AIO because of its larger size. Larger fans mean more airflow and, thus, better cooling. Additionally, due to slower rotation, less noise is produced.
360mm AIO, however, is in a league of its own. The 360mm AIO can house an additional fan compared to the 240mm and 280mm AIOs. Visually, the 360mm AIO differs the most from the rest.
It should now be pretty evident that with increasing surface area, the airflow increases, which means better cooling. Because of its much wider surface area, the 360mm AIO will always be a better cooling solution. The fans wouldn’t have to work hard to keep the temps down, thus running at a lower rpm and producing less noise.
