What is measured and what is estimated

The selected GPU/game/resolution value is the measured baseline. CPU effects, lower presets and 1% lows are estimates.

How can I estimate FPS before building a PC?

Choose the CPU, GPU, game and resolution to get an estimated frame-rate result based on benchmark relationships in our dataset. It is useful for comparing hardware combinations before buying.

Why does FPS change between 1080p, 1440p and 4K?

Higher resolutions require the GPU to render more pixels, which usually reduces frame rate and shifts more of the workload toward the graphics card. CPU limits can be more visible at lower resolutions and high refresh rates.

Can an FPS calculator predict exact game performance?

No estimate can guarantee an exact frame rate on every system. Game patches, settings, drivers, memory configuration and background software can all affect real-world performance.

Does the CPU matter for gaming FPS?

Yes, especially at lower resolutions, high refresh rates and in CPU-heavy games. At higher resolutions, the GPU often becomes the larger performance constraint.

Can I use the FPS calculator to choose a monitor?

Yes. Estimated performance can help you decide whether a 60Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz or higher-refresh display makes sense for the games and hardware you plan to use.

Our Gaming FPS Calculator uses benchmark relationships between processors, graphics cards, games and resolutions to estimate expected gaming performance for a selected hardware combination. At Tech4Gamers, we use normalized performance data so the estimates remain internally consistent even when every possible CPU and GPU combination has not been tested directly in the same system. The result is intended as a realistic planning reference rather than a guaranteed frame rate. Actual FPS can change with graphics settings, game updates, drivers, memory configuration, cooling and background software.
