Price And Availability

GPURTX 5070RTX 4080 SuperPrice Difference
Launch MSRP💲549💲99958.1%
Current Price💲549💲2299122.9%

Since the RTX 5070 has just been released, many online retailers haven’t set its price, and it is mostly being sold for its MSRP. This makes the RTX 5070 122.9% cheaper than the RTX 4080 Super. But don’t get excited just yet because the RTX 5070’s price will surely rise and could become unreasonable at some point.

Final Verdict—What We Recommend?

RTX 4080 Super: This card is excellent and does a commendable job, whether it is in gaming or productivity. But we think its price is still high. In a year, its price has skyrocketed even more than its direct equivalent, the RX 7900 XTX, which shares almost the same raw performance.

RTX 5070: This card isn’t bad per se, but its future price could be either a deal-breaker or a deal-maker. The RTX 5070’s performance is very similar to that of the RTX 4070 Super. But if the former’s price exceeds the latter, it won’t be of any value, and then the RTX 4070 Super would become a better option.

When comparing the RTX 5070 with the RTX 4080 Super, the RTX 5070 appears to be a more budget-friendly option. If its price doesn’t hike too much, we recommend it for people with budget constraints. The RTX 4080 Super is a better option for people who want higher performance, especially with ray-tracing enabled.

RX 9070 XT Stickers Indicate $899 MSRP, Suggesting Last Moment Changes From AMD

Story Highlight
  • Micro Center has sold the RX 9070 XT for $599, but a user has shared an interesting discovery.
  • A sticker on the box suggests that AMD previously intended to price the graphics card at $899.
  • The gaming giant seems to have made last-minute changes after leaks led to backlash from PC gamers.

The RX 9070 XT stood out immediately after its reviews went live, mainly due to its solid price point. AMD ensured it offered intense competition to Nvidia’s RTX 5070 Ti while launching the GPU at a lower price point.

The $599 MSRP was made even more appealing after prior leaks had prepared PC gamers for a price close to $1000. While this never came to fruition, recent findings suggest that AMD may have considered a price closer to $1000 at one point.

Why it matters: AMD has been known to launch overpriced GPUs to capitalize on a desperate market in the past. Though the gaming giant typically lowers prices just as quickly, it hasn’t refrained from launching expensive graphics cards before.

RX 9070 XT Price $899
Micro Center Seems To Have Spilled The Beans on AMD’s Secret | Image via Facebook

A user who recently obtained an RX 9070 XT for $599 from Micro Center has found a surprise sticker on the box. This sticker lists a $899 price, which coincides with listings leaked from February.

Although AMD quickly refuted last month’s leaks, the user reckons that they were true after all. Perhaps AMD made changes at the last moment after it noticed the initial wave of disappointment and backlash.

Powercolor Radeon RX 9070 XT bought for $780 with a $1100 price tag

Another user purchased a Powercolor Radeon RX 9070 XT for $780, significantly above its $599 MSRP as its flagship variant from Colorful, like Taichi from ASRock or NITRO+ from Sapphire. On the box, as you can see, a sticker with the price of $1100 is placed, suggesting that the above instance of an $899 MSRP is valid.

This may also be why the gaming giant refused to share anything concrete about the RX 9070 XT at CES 2025 and waited for Nvidia to reveal its lineup instead. If true, this raises AMD’s strategy of offering serious competition in the market.

While the gaming giant did indeed offer the RX 9070 XT for an MSRP of $599, most AIB models cost significantly more on day one. Moreover, retailers have already stated that the GPUs will only be sold at MSRP during the initial days of release.

It seems AMD has found itself in a similar situation as Nvidia. Both gaming giants have brought products that offer minimal upgrades despite the not-so-great price, and PC gamers are not too happy.

The exact reason for current supply constraints and pricing remains unknown, but gamers can only hope that AMD and Nvidia resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

We have now reached the deciding part of this comparison. The RTX 5070 vanished from shelves within just two days of its launch, while the aging RTX 4080 remains elusive, with prices stubbornly refusing to drop below $1400. So, it is hard to evaluate the worth offered by these GPUs due to the current volatility in pricing.

What We Recommend?

GeForce RTX 5070: The RTX 5070 is a cutting-edge graphics card optimized for 1080p and 1440p gaming. While we anticipated a stronger 4K performance, it falls short in that regard. If market shortages drive its price beyond $550, more compelling alternatives become available around the $600 mark.

GeForce RTX 4080: The RTX 4080, equipped with 16GB of high-speed GDDR6X VRAM, strives to deliver exceptional performance, making it a formidable choice for immersive 4K gaming. Despite belonging to the previous generation, its ray tracing capabilities remain outstanding.

We recommend the RTX 5070 as a compelling budget-friendly graphics card if priced at $550. However, beyond this price, its value diminishes. On the other hand, the RTX 4080 is a top-tier GPU for enjoying a better gaming experience, but the 4080 Super is more compelling option in our opinion if in range.

Respawn Entertainment Unannounced Multiplayer FPS Reportedly Scrapped

Story Highlight
  • Recently, it was reported that Respawn Entertainment had canceled a Star Wars-based FPS IP.
  • Now, the studio has canceled another unannounced project.
  • The title was in development for a year before getting scrapped.

Not too long ago, it was reported that Respawn Entertainment had canceled an FPS title based on the Star Wars IP. The game was canceled in order to support the existing franchise of the developers.

However, it appears that the developers have now scrapped another unannounced multiplayer FPS, which was in development for a year.

Why it matters: The title may have been canceled for the same reason as the developers want to support its existing franchises instead of developing a new IP.

The RX 9070 XT Is Available In Abundance Across Multiple Retailers

Story Highlight
  • AMD’s RX 9070 XT GPU launch is available in ample stock throughout retailers.
  • Micro Center alone reports 440 units of the RX 9070 XT and 170 of the base RX 9070, a stark contrast to Nvidia’s limited RTX 50-series launch.
  • While the card is widely available at MSRP, some retailers have already begun price hikes, making now the best time to buy before potential tariff increases.

AMD’s RDNA 4 GPU lineup is shaping up to be its best release in years, with a competitive price tag with a good trade for its performance.

With the mid-range GPU finally released, its stock appears to be in abundance. Multiple retailers across the U.S. have reported ample stock of cards, with one store holding hundreds of units.

Why it matters: Unlike previous GPU launches plagued by shortages and scalping, the RX 9070 XT seems readily available, reducing concerns about scalping.

Why Fragpunk Is The Most Absurd FPS Shooter I’ve Ever Seen

Story Highlights
  • It combines elements from other games: a map from CS2, the art style and abilities from Valorant, and weapon mechanics from Call of Duty.
  • With these familiar elements, it still feels unique because of its card system that bends the game’s rules.
  • These cards can change the weather, your movements, and your weapon mechanics, and they can affect your teammates or your enemies.

When we think about FPS shooters, CS2, Valorant, and Call of Duty usually come to mind. But what if there’s a game that takes a few elements used in these infamous games and combines them all together to form one game. That is Fragpunk.

Is Fragpunk A Chaotic Mess Or A Genius Leap?

This 5v5 tactical shooter, developed by Chinese developers, twists the bomb-planting scenario into something else using elements from other games. It might seem that it’s only a clone.

However, Fragpunk does it in a way that is nothing but genius. Before I explain how they’ve leveraged this in their favor, let me share what elements they took from these games.

Elements From Valorant & Fortnite

Firstly, you’re greeted with a lobby that resembles that of Valorant, with the same vibrant colors and art style of the characters in the background. The purchasable items can be viewed, and that screen is almost identical to Valorant’s.

Buying Menu Fragpunk
Buying Menu (Image By YT/ CautioN ManiC)

CS2 Map

Once you’re in the game, a desert-like map looks extremely similar to CS2’s Mirage map. Not only that, but the mini map on your screen also seems to have been taken directly from CS2.

COD Shooting Mechanics

While it doesn’t include all the weapons from Call of Duty, Fragpunk does have identical shooting mechanics. When you use ADS and run with weapons, you can tell it has taken inspiration from the Call of Duty.

Why It Just Works

It could succeed with it because it gives a strong sense of familiarity to the players who’ve never played this game. When you pick this game up, it feels like you’ve played it before multiple times, and this makes you keep playing.

Chaotic Shooter

Apart from many familiar things, Fragpunk isn’t your average FPS shooter. While games like Valorant require strategic thinking and precise movements, Fragpunk is a chaotic, high-energy shooter that throws logic out of the window.

In most ways, it breaks the mold in the FPS shooter genre and it is similar to Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2, which has lighthearted gameplay in a serious environment. This shows that some games don’t have to play by the rules.

Shark Card System & Abilities

Moreover, Fragpunk has taken the phrase, “rules are meant to be bent,” by introducing shark cards, which are its most unique feature. It offers more than 150 cards, which alter the entire game, either giving you an advantage or giving the enemy a disadvantage

These cards can do things like change the way the map looks, and how it is played. Not only that, but it can also change how our characters move around, and how our weapons work.

The characters also have abilities, which you can use throughout the map just like you can in Valorant, but Fragpunk takes it to another level, especially with the addition of the card system.

Casual & Ranked Mode

In casual mode, you get shark points, which you can put into cards. If you reach a certain number of points that the card requires, then that card can be used to affect the match for that round.

The game gives different options for three cards every round, but in ranked mode, both teams have to choose between the same eight cards, where each can ban a card. The team has to share these points instead of having individual points.

Absurd Card Abilities

One of the best card features I love is the ‘big head’ card, which allows your enemies to have huge heads as if you’ve photoshopped them. Playing competitively seriously is ridiculously hilarious when you see enemies running with huge heads.

I found a few cards extremely useful, and that includes the Lumiprint that shows the enemy’s footprints, Parting Explosion that explodes the enemies when they die, and Healing shot that heals your teammates when you shoot at them.

The best part about these cards is that there are so many and with each update, the devs can add more cards so you’ll be able to experience endless creativity. The devs did admit that they’ve taken inspiration from these cards from Mario Sprites.

Console Launch Delayed

Although it was set to be released on March 6th and 7th, its console release has met with unexpected delays. However, it will still be released for PC and free for everyone, so gamers from different platforms just have to wait for their turn.

Retailers Warn RX 9070 XT Price Set To Go Up Soon; $600 MSRP Only For Early Units

Story Highlight
  • Retailers have secured thousands of RX 9070 XT units.
  • They warn that only a few hundred will be sold at MSRP during the initial days.
  • The rest will receive a price hike, making the $600 marketing redundant a few days after release.

AMD’s RX 9070 XT has been praised for matching the RTX 5070 Ti at a much lower price. The gaming giant also promised an abundance of supply on day one, especially compared to Nvidia’s RTX 5000 lineup.

So far, AMD’s promises seem to be holding up, but retailers have issued a sudden warning. They state that the RX 9070 XT will soon go up in price, with the $600 MSRP reserved for the initial batch.

Why it matters: Without the MSRP, the RX 9070 XT would lose most of its appeal. The graphics card’s reviews would also need a revision since the media recommended it based on the MSRP.

9070 XT Price Leaked
AIB Models Could See An Unexpected Price Hike

As reported by Swedish retailer Inet.se, the current pricing applies to a select few units. The retailer states it will receive another shipment from PowerColor shortly, but these cards will not be offered at MSRP.

Sapphire and Asus models will be available at MSRP, but Inet.se states that this stock will permanently run out after the initial batch. This is quite alarming, and Inet.se is far from the only retailer to make such a bold claim.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
Radeon RX 9070 XT Pricing Is Set To Take A Sudden Turn | Image via Overclockers Forums

As OCUK states, of the 4000 RX 9070 XT units available to the retailer, only a few hundred will be sold at MSRP. OCUK expects prices to jump once these units are sold.

We have around 2000 units from Sapphire in stock, 1000 from PowerColor, and 1000 from Asrock. Prices will jump once those are sold through.

-OCUK’s Andrew Gibson

Because the Trump tariffs are expected to impact the market in a major way as well, it may be best to attempt and secure a new graphics card as quickly as possible.

There’s little doubt that the RX 9070 XT is a solid choice for $600, so those looking to score a GPU upgrade should waste as little time as possible. AMD is also expected to launch the Radeon RX 9060 XT at cheaper prices in the coming months, but there’s no telling how the market will evolve by then.

Average Framerate

In our testing, the RX 7900 XTX was about 10% faster than the RTX 5070 Ti, which is a huge disappointment. Not only does Nvidia’s card have over 2 years of technology updates on its side, but it also competes for the same market space as the RTX 5070 Ti, and the AMD card thoroughly outclasses it.

1% Lows

The difference in the minimum framerates was about 11.5%. The delta was in favor of the RX 7900 XTX, which only widened the gap between these cards. The RX 7900 XTX was noticeably smoother in our testing with these two cards. We noticed less stuttering on the AMD card.

Productivity

Nvidia’s card showed clear victory in the productivity tests. It performed almost twice in our AI test, which is where most of Nvidia’s innovations lie with this generation. Blender also benefited greatly, with a render time almost half that of the RX 7900 XTX. However, we did not see much of a difference in Davinci Resolve.

Nvidia took a big leap in power management with the Ada Lovelace cards, and these improvements translated to the Blackwell generation as well. The RX 7900 XTX took about 30% more power than the RTX 5070 Ti in our gaming tests. We did see some high spikes with the RTX 5070 Ti, resulting in only a 16% improvement in maximums.

Price

GPURX 7900 XTXRTX 5070 TiPrice Difference

Current Price💲890💲138956.07%

Though the RX 7900 XTX is also being scalped at the moment, we did see a few models priced around the $900 mark, whereas the RTX 5070 Ti was priced much higher than its MSRP. With the lower price and higher performance, the RX 7900 XTX is definitely the better deal of the two.

What We Recommend

RTX 5070 Ti: The brunt of the improvements in the Blackwell cards is focused on the AI features, which have their benefits, but it means bugger-all for gaming, at least at this moment. Power savings are also a plus with this card, but this is a feature that most people don’t care that much about.

RX 7900 XTX: Though not a perfect card in its own right, the RTX 5070 Ti makes the RX 7900 XTX look like a good deal. It performs about 10% better in traditional rasterization, though it does fall flat in very complex RT workloads. The RX 7900 XTX is not a cheap card, but it’s cheap compared to the scalped Blackwell cards on the market.

Go for the RX 7900 XTX if you’re primarily focused on gaming, especially if you don’t care about ray tracing. The RTX 5070 Ti only makes sense if you need a productivity workhorse. For most people, we think the RX 7900 XTX is the smarter buy.

Majority of RX 9070 XT Are Listed Way Above MSRP Going Up to $829.99

Story Highlight
  • AMD RX 9070 series graphics cards will likely be significantly more expensive than the official MSRP, particularly for higher-end versions.
  • While the base XFX RX 9070 XT Black SWIFT model has an MSRP of $150, the white version costs an extra $150.
  • Retailers worldwide face issues acquiring Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs at AMD’s official MSRP.

While every Radeon SKU has an MSRP model specified, the majority of XFX RX 9070 cards will be significantly more costly, which is bad news.

From earlier pricing at Best Buy, it’s quite clear that XFX has little interest in marketing its least expensive versions, which lack factory overclocking, RGB, and its new magnetically attached fans.

Why it matters: Higher prices for the RX 9070 GPUs could make them less affordable for many consumers, especially those on a budget.

It looks like buyers will need to pay more for a superior variant. Although the normal XFX 9070 XT Black SWIFT is priced at MSRP, you will still have to pay an additional $150 if you choose the white version.

Furthermore, many details regarding day-one pricing and stock levels have been made public before the launch. The good news is that shops worldwide appear to be certain that they have “ample” stock of Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs to satisfy demand on day one.

That said, it’s reported that retailers cannot purchase AMD Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs at MSRP. This seems to be a worldwide issue rather than one that affects Europe or North America.

Retailers must charge more for their products than they pay for them. Retailers cannot provide Radeon RX 9070 series GPUs to customers at AMD’s official MSRP price if they cannot purchase them from distributors at a discount to MSRP.

Nvidia Promised Black Screen Fix In GeForce Driver 572.70 But Issue Persists

Story Highlight
  • Nvidia has released the GeForce Game Ready Driver 572.70, and the driver update claims to fix the rampant black screen issues in the RTX 50 lineup.
  • Users report negative feedback after installing the new driver, with many saying black screen problems still persist.
  • Additional updates are now needed before the Blackwell gaming GPUs become fully stable.

Between melting connectors, limited stock, and disappointing generational uplifts, Nvidia’s latest graphics card series has faced more than a few challenges so far. The recently released RTX 5070 is no better, marking one of the company’s worst GPU releases to date.

Making matters worse, Nvidia users have recently faced various software-related problems. One prevalent issue is the constant crashing and black screen occurrences that many users have faced on graphics cards like the RTX 5080 and 5090, but Nvidia’s latest 572.70 driver claims to address the problem.

Why it matters: Nvidia is typically praised for its driver stability, but this reputation has been flipped upside down with the RTX 50 lineup.

Game Ready Driver 572.70 features support for the recently launched RTX 5070. Moreover, it ensures Rockstar’s recent update for GTA 5 functions as intended across all Nvidia graphics cards. Similarly, the new update ensures compatibility with FragPunk.

The gaming updates end here, so Nvidia’s black screen fix is undoubtedly the biggest part of this update. According to the What’s Fixed section, certain Nvidia GPUs were booting directly to a black screen when using a DisplayPort.

Users also reported black screens and BSODs during gaming sessions. Nvidia previously attempted to address these problems in the 572.60 driver, but it somehow made things worse. As per reports, games with multi-frame generation were most affected.

Nvidia claims these problems have now been addressed, but users on Reddit have shared plenty of negative feedback. In fact, many claim that the driver update itself led to a black screen during installation.

Others have pointed to specific examples, such as Alan Wake 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, sharing that multiple games are currently crashing upon booting. The new update has also been unable to solve BSODs (Blue Screen of Death), further frustrating users.

Some users have even mentioned the driver crashing when waking the PC from sleep. As such, the feedback makes it clear that Nvidia has a myriad of problems to iron out before it can live up to its own claims.

While Nvidia has had multiple attempts at fixing everything users have complained about, it seems further updates are needed to get the Blackwell gaming lineup on par with its predecessors.
