ASUS is a top-end PC part manufacturer that has earned the respect of thousands of people around the globe. It makes high-quality GPUs that are both excellent in terms of performance and reasonably priced. The TUF and the ROG Strix Series are two of their extremely popular line-ups.

The ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition comes with a factory-overclocked GPU that runs at a boost clock of 1845 MHz, implying that it can handle any task. On top of that, the solid software support makes doing this extremely easy, which is why ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti OC Edition is considered the Best RTX 3080 Ti For Overclocking. The GPU also comes with 12GB GDDR6X memory which is enough for most people. Whether you’re playing Call Of Duty or Rendering on Blender, the 12GB of 3080 Ti VRAM will be more than enough to power through. The graphics card also has a 450W power consumption, one of the highest in all variants of the GPU.

Undoubtedly, the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti has a premium look. The black and gray design combined with three fans in the middle make it look beautiful. It’s RGB lighting is unlike any seen on other 3080 Ti variants; it shines through the fans and the vents, making it look more aesthetically pleasing. The backplate has the unique ROG Strix logo on the right side, adding more aesthetic to the product.

The card features 2nd generation RT Cores to enable real-time Ray Tracing of objects and environments with physically accurate shadows, reflections, and refractions, allowing for a much more immersive experience. The 3rd generation Tensor Cores deliver up to five times the AI processing power; they speed up DLSS processing by 2x compared to previous generation cards, allowing you to train AI models faster than ever. DLSS also helps get even higher fps with little to no graphical downgrade.

The card has a superior Axial tech fan design with a reversed rotational direction and more blades for efficient cooling even under high load conditions. It also utilizes ASUS FanConnect II technology, allowing you to control fans on ASUS graphics cards via motherboard BIOS or software applications like the ASUS Fan Connect II app.

As far as the GPU internals are concerned, to sustain such power, there is a clear indication that the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition uses top-of-the-line hardware. Starting with heat dissipation, ASUS has implemented its MaxContact technology, designed to improve head conduction from the GPU die. ASUS achieved this by improving the smoothness of the heat spreader, allowing for a more even and hence, more efficient heat transfer.

VRM design is very important to check when buying a graphics card. In the case of the RTX 3080 Ti, only the ASUS ROG Strix variants have better VRM than the Founder’s edition of the GPU. This beast of a GPU uses a 22-phase Dr.Mos VRM divided into 12, 6, and 4 sectors; it is one of the best designs on a graphics card, allowing for stable power consumption, even at high loads.

High-quality MOSFETs and capacitors accompany the VRM design, used to ensure no hiccups while operating this beast of a graphics card. After all, it has to sustain 9% more MHz than the Founder’s Edition GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, right outside the box. No compromises and high-quality materials have allowed ASUS to create a beefy and formidable GPU that can reach new limits.

Power consumption is a factor you should not overlook when thinking about this GPU. The manufacturer suggests using an 850W PSU with this graphics card; it will not use all of that 850W, but it will undoubtedly use more than half. The GPU has a TDP of around 450W under full load; it needs three 8-pin PCIe connectors for fulfilling its hunger.

What We Liked

We love the ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition for many reasons, the first one being its excellent design. The impressive design adds an impression of sleekness, power, and modernity to your system, which will outshine your build. Alongside the design, the GPU performs well and maintains its temperature under heavy loads.

Additionally, the customizability for ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition sets standards for other GPUs out in the market: you can make it fit your needs perfectly by tweaking the parameters, including fan speed and lighting system. Another thing to note is that it is easy to install and doesn’t require additional software programs or downloads—just plug it in and start playing!

Although, you can download software to customize it to your heart’s content. If you’re looking for a graphics card that will give you a fantastic experience without slowing you down in your games or extensively heating your GPU, this might be the one for you.

What We Disliked

We’re not going to lie: the ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition is a humungous GPU; it isn’t easy to fit in most computers, either. You’ll likely have to open up your case, remove or rearrange some components, and maybe even buy an entirely new PC case for this to fit in.

Then there’s the price tag; we’ve seen this card go for more than $2,000 on eBay due to scalping (and yes, that’s an actual thing). You need to stay alert for new 3080 Ti stock so you can buy this GPU at or close to the 3080 Ti retail price.

Verdict

The ASUS ROG Strix Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition is a beast. It checks all the right boxes, making it the Best nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card on the market.

The build quality is excellent, with a premium design and construction that feels like it could withstand just about anything you throw at it. The performance is no slouch either, with impressive benchmarking scores that put it ahead of most other cards in its class.

To sum up, if you’re looking for a graphics card that can handle 4K gaming without breaking a sweat, look no further than this one from ASUS. It deserves the Best GeForce RTX 3080 Ti For Overclocking title in the market.

Another product from ASUS? Yes. We were surprised too. They make some of the best products with their designs always thought through, so consumers can utilize their purchases to their full extent; the same is true for the GPU category.

This time, we’ve got the ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition, and the liquid-cooled GeForce RTX 3080 Ti. This GPU is perfect for tasks that significantly drive the temperature, like gaming or video editing. Whether you want to play Forza with cranked-up settings or have to train AI models with a full load on the GPU, this liquid-cooled beast is perfect for anything and is ready to face the challenges.

The ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition brings the best of Nvidia and ASUS in one package, featuring second-generation RT cores and third-generation tensor cores, it is one of the most powerful graphics cards on the market.  If you are moving from an older graphics card, even from the Nvidia’s 2000 series GPUs,  you will notice a huge performance jump.

The ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition boasts higher clock speeds than the simple OC edition of the graphics card, with 1860 MHz in OC mode and 1830 MHz in gaming mode. It also has a 12 GB GDDR6X memory, which is plenty. The graphic card consumes a ton of power which is evident because it can consume up to 400W power when under full load.

Cooling is something that may be concerning you, given that this graphics card has one fan only. The LC in the name means that the fan is not even the primary cooling source of this GPU, and ASUS still has included it anyway. With liquid cooling, any heat generated gets instantly dissipated, thanks to the full-coverage cold plate that allows for contact with the GPU die and the memory, making it the Best Water Cooled GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card.

The massive 240mm radiator is perfect for keeping temperatures low and sustaining performance; you won’t encounter temperature issues with the ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition. Now, this is something that you cannot say for some other variants of the graphics card.

The ASUS ROG Strix 3080 Ti LC variant has a different VRM spec than the non-liquid cooled one. It has an 18-phase VRM controlled by two MP2888A controllers, which can handle ten power phases each, making it extremely impressive.

With such a beefy VRM, one can expect this card to consume umpteen power. The question arises: what power supply will suit it? An 850W one is a way to go for supporting the 3080 Ti wattage. The GPU has a TDP of 400W; you can also expect minor spikes, which is why a strong PSU is recommended.  If you want to establish yourself as a true ASUS fan, you should get one of their ROG Strix 3080 Ti power supply. As expected, they have a futuristic design, which will help your PC stand out.

ASUS ROG Strix 3080 Ti LC doesn’t just look great; it also has excellent hardware. Unlike brands like Palit, which make great-looking cards but with not-so-great build quality, this liquid-cooled RTX 3080 Ti is unlike anything you have ever seen or laid hands on. Its build quality easily supersedes that of the 3080 Ti Founders Edition.

What We Liked

Honestly, there is nothing much to dislike about this ROG Strix GPU. That means it is a nearly perfect GPU, as long as you can install it. Yes, installing this graphics card can be tricky due to its large size. But that is the only obstacle or issue you will face with it. Other than that, owning this variant has nothing but pure benefits.

Want to get your render done in the shortest amount of time? That’s no issue with this graphics card. Want to play your favorite games in 4k, with Ray Tracing on, and at a stable FPS? That should be a breeze for this liquid-cooled RTX 3080 Ti. Want to mine on it, to earn some extra bucks? That should not be a problem, even with it running 24/7. Its superior liquid cooling will ensure its temperatures stay regulated; no overheating means no performance degradation, resulting in an improved 3080 Ti hash rate.

What We Disliked

Even though the ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition is an excellent choice if you want to play the latest games, it does have some downsides.

Firstly, it’s challenging to get at MSRP. ASUS ROG Strix LC is one of the most expensive gaming GPUs on the market, and even though we love it, we can’t recommend it as a good value for your money. It’s also more maintenance-intense than other graphics cards because it is liquid-cooled.

Verdict

The ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition is an overclockable graphics card that can output insane power while taking in a lot.

In our opinion, the ASUS ROG Strix LC is one of the Best Versions of 3080 Ti Graphics Card on the market. It can maintain temperatures pretty well; even when overclocked to its limits, you won’t see any thermals-related issues in the ROG Strix LC. That said, ASUS ROG Strix LC Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC Edition has the highest boost clock among all the versions of 3080 Ti, making it ideal for overclocking enthusiasts. If you’re looking for a graphics card that can cooperate the way you push it, ASUS ROG Strix LC OC Edition is the best 3080 Ti money can buy.

You might be thinking about why it earned the top spot. Although the GPU requires more maintenance and is somewhat difficult to install, the liquid-cooled ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti is still an amazing graphics card. It can pump out a lot of FPS while not burning itself up in the process. If you can get it at the 3080 Ti MSRP, you should not give the purchase a second thought. But we can safely say that it is the Best Water Cooled RTX 3080 Ti.

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming

Best Overall RTX 3080 Ti

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming
The RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is by far the best RTX 3080 Ti you can get In 2022.

Specifications: Type: Dimensions: 300 x 136.75 mm | Base Clock: 1188 MHz | Boost Clock: 1800 MHz | Bandwidth: 912GB/s | Recommended PSU: 750W | Power Connectors: 3x 8-pin | RGB: Yes

Pros

  1. Perfect for 4K gaming
  2. Great software support
  3. Great design
  4. Sturdy build

Cons

  1.  High power consumption

EVGA is another excellent company that has been making its name in the GPU market for quite some time. They make the most premium graphics cards, and their RTX line-up is no exception.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is a solid choice among other graphics cards. It comes with a whopping 10240 CUDA cores and 12GB of blazing fast GDDR6X memory, which makes it one of the fastest consumer-grade GPUs on the market today. It consumes around 450W of power, considerably higher than the ASUS ROG Strix liquid-cooled variant.

EVGA’s GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is a solid graphics card designed with lag-free 4K gaming in mind, and it’s been tested to ensure that. The iCX3 interactive cooling system keeps the graphics card components cool and efficient, with maximum contact between the components and the cooling system, ensuring that your card will last longer than other cards on the market.

The triple fan design allows quieter operation than most cards and helps manage heat better than other cards. In addition to this, an all-metal backplate prevents overheating while providing increased rigidity like never before. Holding this graphics card in your hands will resemble a brick, thanks to its sturdy construction.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming features 2nd generation Ray Tracing cores and 3rd generation tensor cores, making it a great choice for gamers who want to experience next-generation gaming with improved visuals. It also comes with GeForce DLSS, allowing you to get better frame rates even running games at 4K resolution. Additionally, it’s VR-ready! You can connect your VR headset and experience clear games, at a high FPS, like never before.

This bad boy has countless features that make it ideal for any gamer. It comes with the Precision X1 software suite, which allows you to overclock your GPU, change fan speeds, and monitor your system temperatures. You can also use the same software to control the RGB LEDs; you can customize them to your liking and enjoy gaming like never before.

With the graphics card getting up to 1800 MHz, you will experience a significant difference in performance with the overclock. Moreover, the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti has a better VRM than the liquid-cooled ASUS ROG Strix variant. Comprising a 19-phase VRM, it can regulate voltage slightly better than the previous one and is capable of sustaining loads for a much longer time.

Thanks to that VRM design, the card can consume up to 452W on full load, which is a lot of power. But surprisingly, EVGA recommends getting a 750W power supply for this GPU instead of 850 W, which ASUS does. That’s because it’s important to have enough headroom for overclocking and running intensive games like Battlefield V or Apex Legends at high settings and resolutions. Current generation CPUs can take in close to 100W-150W. So, that leaves very little headroom for other components. Therefore, we would still advise getting an 850W PSU with this graphics card.

Still, the card remains cool and quiet even when drawing so much power, thanks to its designed cooling system with such power consumption in mind. The fans are quieter than other cards when they’re spinning but still manage to keep the card running cool at all times. All these strengths are among many reasons people consider this variant the Best Overall GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

What We Liked

We’re huge fans of the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming. It offers excellent 4K gaming, surpassing the 3090 with the right overclock.

The EVGA Precision X1 software is superb, offering an easy-to-use interface and a high level of control over your card. You can set custom fan curves, enable any lighting effects that you wish, and even create custom profiles for your games so that they will run at peak performance when you need them to.

What We Disliked

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is a great card with high power consumption. It requires two 8-pin power connectors and a 750W minimum power supply. That means you’ll probably need to have an upgrade from your current power supply to meet the 3080 Ti PSU requirements.

Verdict

If you’re looking for an upgrade from your current graphics card, this one will give you what you need; better gaming performance, more overclocking potential, increased stability in high-resolution games, and just about anything else.

The EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming is a no-brainer. It’s one of the top choices if you want to play games on a high-end PC and don’t mind paying a premium price for one of the best graphics cards available today. It’s not the Best RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card on the market, but it is a strong contender for the competition.

Choosing the Best RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card is not an easy task. There are many factors to consider, and it can take longer to narrow down the choices. With multiple variants in the market, it becomes quite hectic to choose the right ones. We at Tech4Gamers, know what gamers need, so they don’t have to research anything before you buy the card of your choice. The factors that we took into account are:

VRM

VRM stands for Voltage Regulator Module, an important part of any graphics card. The VRM on a graphics card helps regulate the power going to the GPU core, ensuring your graphics card can run at its full potential without overheating or damaging itself. The VRM also ensures that your graphics card can handle heavy loads without breaking down or running too hot. We made sure to choose cards with top-notch VRMs to get maximum performance from each product on our list.

Power Limit

We also chose to rank the best RTX 3080 Ti variants based on their power limit because this is the single most important factor in determining gaming performance. The power limit is the maximum amount of power you can provide to the graphics card to get maximum performance from the GPU. The higher a graphics card’s power limit, the more headroom it has to run at higher clock speeds, which results in greater performance.

Performance

We look at this first and foremost because it’s what will determine how fast your gaming experience is. You want to be able to play your favorite games with a lag-free, breathtaking experience, and we’re here to help you get there. We chose and ranked the graphics cards by carefully analyzing which variants provide the highest fps for hours on end while maintaining temperatures.

Cooler

Cooler design is another important factor we considered when selecting this guide. We wanted to ensure that all our chosen variants have coolers capable of keeping their GPUs running at optimal temperatures while also being quiet enough for extended gaming sessions without distracting from gameplay audio. Variants such as the liquid-cooled RTX 3080 Ti are silent performers. You will not find better and more silent variants than the ones listed in this guide.

Temperature

We also looked critically at the temperature of each card while it’s under heavy load; this is our way of determining its cooling capabilities. If a card doesn’t have good cooling capabilities, it can overheat and damage itself or other components in your system during extended use. That’s why temperature is another important factor when deciding which RTX 3080 Ti variant suits your needs.

RTX 3080 Ti vs 3080

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is a clear winner over the RTX 3080 in gaming performance.

Both cards feature the same GA-102 chipset, but the 3080 Ti has 10240 CUDA cores while the 3080 has 8704 CUDA cores. That’s a significant difference between playing at 1440p on Ultra settings with 60 fps or 4K on High with 30 fps. It might not seem like much, but if you’re looking for an upgrade, it could be worth it.

The texture mapping units (TMUs) are 272 in the 3080 and 320 in the 3080 Ti; same numbers for tensor cores; 3080 Ti has 12 more Ray Tracing cores; 10GB of VRAM on the 3080 and 12GB on the 3080 Ti; bus width is larger on the 3080 Ti.

But the fact that there is not a huge difference between the cards leads to an easy conclusion that the 3080 Ti is just a beefed-up version of the RTX 3080.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has a slightly lower reference boost clock at 1665 MHz than the GeForce RTX 3080, which features a reference boost clock of 1710 MHz. However, even at lower boost clocks, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti still manages to surpass the performance of the GeForce RTX 3080.

Performance aside, both GPUs are extremely efficient and can do whatever task you put on them, and thus both of these GPUs are very power hungry, there’s a negligible difference between the power limits of both of these GPUs, the GeForce RTX 3080 will draw up to 320W most of the time, while the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will consume up to 350W; So, whatever GPU you choose, be prepared to pair it up with at least a 700W power supply.

Mining on either GeForce RTX 3080 Ti or RTX 3080 is not a good idea, as the software driver that runs both of these cards, automatically detects if they are being used for mining and cut the hash rate in half, thus severely limiting the mining profitability. Though, if you still want to mine with either of these GPUs, you can expect a 112.78MH/s hash rate during Ethereum mining on GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and a 97.88MH/s hash rate with GeForce RTX 3080. The average profit per day with both of these GPUs is about 2 dollars, which will take you about 2 years to just get your investment back.

RTX 3090 vs 3080 Ti

RTX 3090 vs 3080 Ti
RTX Cards next to each other – Image: Our Review – Tech4Gamers.

If we had to choose one graphics card that can topple the RTX 3080 Ti in terms of performance, then that is the RTX 3090.

The RTX 3090 Ti comprises 10496 CUDA cores, 328 tensor cores, 112 ROPs, and 24 GB of VRAM, while the RTX 3080 Ti boasts 10240 CUDA cores, 320 tensor cores, 112 ROPs, and 12 GB of VRAM.

Both graphics cards share the same GA-102 processors with a bus width of 384 bit and base/boost clocks at 1360 MHz/1695 MHz for the RTX 3090 and 1360 MHz/1665 MHz for the RTX 3080 Ti. On top of that, both of these GPUs have the same power requirements, as they both can consume power up to 350W; keeping the power-hungriness of both of these GPUs in mind, you will need a power supply of at least 700W to power up your dream build.

To get a better assessment of GeForce RTX 3090, have a glance at our compilation of BEST RTX 3090 Graphics Cards.

As you can see, both of these graphics cards are almost identical in terms of performance. So, if you are considering buying the 3090, you should settle for a 3080 Ti instead. It is a bit cheaper, and there is little to no performance difference.

Since the release of GeForce RTX 3060 LHR, Nvidia is implementing Lite Hash Rate technology in all its latest GPUs, to discourage miners from buying them. That’s why even with GeForce RTX 3090, we don’t see good mining results, it provides roughly 121.16MH/s hash rate on ETH mining, while the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti offers a 112.78 MH/s hash rate.

6900 XT vs 3080 Ti

The 6900 XT is one of AMD’s top offerings and is an excellent graphics card. It comes in at roughly half the price of the RTX 3090 and delivers comparable performance. But how does it stack up against the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti? Let’s find out.

Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti is a beast of a graphics card. It has double the CUDA cores compared to AMD’s 6900 XT. Another major difference between these two GPUs is that there are no tensor cores on AMD’s 6900 XT (or any other Navi card yet released). At the same time, Nvidia has 320 tensor cores built into its 3080 Ti graphics cards, implying that Nvidia’s GPU will outperform its competitors in terms of AI capabilities.

The base clock for the 6900 XT is 1825 MHz, but its boost clock is 2250 MHz, a vast difference compared to its competitor. The 3080 Ti has a base clock of 1350 MHz, with a boost clock of 1455 MHz, making it slower than its AMD counterpart in terms of clock speed. The 6900 XT also has 16GB VRAM, while the 3080 Ti has only 12GB.

The RTX 3080 Ti has more bandwidth than its competitor; however, this isn’t enough to compensate for its lack of memory capacity and lower base clock speed.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has proved to be much more power hungry than the 6900 XT, it has a rated power limit of 350W, while that of the 6900 XT is just 300W; so you better have a power supply that can meet the power demands of both of these beasts.

Still, both of these graphics cards trade blows with each other. The RTX pulls ahead, but you should not forget that it is more expensive than the 6900 XT.

The GeForce RTX 3080 Ti offers a 112.78MH/s hash rate during Ethereum mining, while the 6900 XT severely lags behind, with a hash rate of just 64.08MH/s. The average profit you can earn with GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is roughly $2 per day, however, the 6900 XT only gives $1.4 average profit per day. You would have to wait for a long time with both of these GPUs, just to get your money back.

RTX 3070 Ti vs RTX 3080 Ti

Nvidia released the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in January of 2022, and after six months, they released the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in June of 2022, making both GPU recent releases from Nvidia. Starting with the specs, if we go into further details of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, the GPU has 10240 CUDA cores with 12GB GDDR6X memory working at 912 GB/s bandwidth; that is 66% higher than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, which has 6144 CUDA cores with 8GB GDDR6X memory working at 608.3 GB/s. GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has a great lead over the specs on the paper, which you can easily see because of the high memory and speed.

The gaming performance of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is not very high if we see how high the specs are; 3080 Ti averages around 106 FPS for 1080p compared to 89 FPS of 3070 Ti which is just a 19% performance boost, and it is acceptable as GeForce RTX 3070 Ti cost two third of the total price of the 3080 Ti.

The Base Clock speed performance of GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is better than GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, clocking at 1575 MHz, 15% better than the RTX 3080 Ti, which has a 1365 MHz of Base Clock speed. The Boost Clock is also higher in RTX 3070 Ti clocking at 1770 MHz versus the 1665 MHz of the RTX 3080 Ti; this is very disappointing because GPU with a higher price tag is delivering lower performance than its cheaper competitor.

RTX 3080 Ti consumes more power as the TDP from the manufacturer is 350W, 20% higher than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti’s TDP of 290W, and the higher TDP of 3080 Ti is the reason that it can achieve a high clock speed compared to the RTX 3070 Ti. One of the best things about GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is the higher peak performance temperature of 78.9°C compared to the 72°C of the RTX 3070 Ti.

As far as cooling is concerned, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti has flow-through cooling technology that sucks in air from the back and throws it out through the front; this type of cooling design is not unique compared to Nvidia’s older GPU models.  Instead, GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has dual fans on either side of the GPU, making it more effective in cooling as the airflow is much better.

Nvidia GPUs aren’t built for crypto mining because they have an inclusive hardware-based hash rate limiter to limit the hash rate purposely. Nvidia took this step due to the high demand among crypto miners, and they would empty all the stock making it unavailable for the rest of the public that wants them for gaming. Although GeForce RTX 3080 Ti offers a hash rate of 112.78 MH/s compared to the 102.61 MH/s for the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, making them moderately performing GPUs in terms of mining.

If you are looking to buy RTX 3080 Ti to increase the game performance over the previous models like GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, it is not worth the amount of money you will be spending compared to the performance gain that you will get. Although, you will get a significant cooling performance boost because the dual fans on either side of the GPU make it very good for overclocking.

RTX 3080 Ti vs RTX 2080 Ti

GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti belong to Nvidia’s range of GPUs. RTX 2080 Ti belongs to Nvidia’s 2000 series GPUs and is an older GPU released by Nvidia in September 2018 compared to a newer Nvidia 3080 Ti from Nvidia’s 300 series GPUs, released recently in June of 2022.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is in no way a match to GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in terms of specs; RTX 3080 Ti has 10240 CUDA cores which are double the CUDA cores of RTX 2080 Ti, standing at 4353 CUDA cores. The memory in the RTX 2080 Ti is comparable to the RTX 3080 Ti as it has 11GB GDDR6 of memory, just 1 GB less than the 3080 Ti’s 12GB GDDR6X memory. The newer GDDR6X memory is 15% more efficient in power delivery, meaning less overall heat generated, and is faster than the previous generation like GDDR6.

The GA102-225 GPU in the RTX 3080 Ti has a Base Clock of 1365 MHz and a Boost Clock of 1665 MHz with a bandwidth of 912GB/s, nearly the same clock speed as the RTX 2080 Ti, powered by Turing TU102 GPU, having a Base Clock speed of 1350 MHz and a Boost Clock speed of 1635 MHz with a bandwidth of 616GB/s. The bandwidth of 3080 Ti is higher, meaning the data transfer rate will be higher, providing faster frames to the display and supporting the higher picture quality. It will also provide stable FPS for the games, ultimately making the gaming experience smoother.

The gaming performance of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is better than the RTX 2080 Ti giving us an average of 150 FPS for 1440p resolution versus the 124 FPS of RTX 2080 Ti at the same resolution. Although the 4k performance of GeForce RTX 2080 Ti is exceptionally good as it is a four-year-old GPU giving us an average of 73 FPS versus the 91 FPS of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.

Cooling-wise, RTX 2080 Ti has two fans on one side of the GPU that has Nvidia Dual axis technology with lower fan noise and pollution. Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti also has two fans on the GPU, but only one fan on either side gives it more overall airflow, making this GPU the best in thermal performance. Regarding power, RTX 3080 Ti is more power-demanding than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and has a TDP of 350W compared to 260W of the RTX 2080 Ti.

The mining capability of both GPUs is not close to competitors because the Nvidia hardware-based hash rate limiter doesn’t let the crypto miners get the full juice out of the GPU. Because of the recent chip and PCB shortage globally, Nvidia has taken this step to ensure the supply of their GPU to the gamers that have a higher appreciation of what they are making compared to the crypto miners. Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti has a mining hash of 121.16 MH/s, while Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti offers a mining hash rate of 60 MH/s, making it one of the worst performing GPU in terms of crypto mining.
