Marvel 1943: Hydra was one of the most unexpected Marvel video game announcements, but it turned out to be the most exciting. Set during the WW2 era, the game features Captain America and Black Panther, the latter getting his own solo game soon enough. Not much is known about the game except for the initial story trailer. However, Black Panther’s voice actor has just revealed a release date for the game. Marvel 1943: Hydra is currently targeting a release later this year during the holiday season. Why it matters: With such limited information and several other video games in development, Marvel 1943: Hydra was speculated for a much later release. However, fans will be pleased to hear they can get their hands on the game later this year. Talking with The Direct, Black Panther’s voice actor Khary Payton was asked about the project, to which he answered: We’re still working. We’re planning on 2025… We’re thinking like a Christmas situation. But I’m so excited. According to Payton, the game is still being developed, but a Christmas release suggests that Marvel 1943: Hydra is approaching its final development stages. We know the title has already been in development for five years. Moreover, it’s also being developed on the Unreal Engine 5. The game is shaping into an exciting narrative-heavy title featuring an all-original story from the comic as source material. The game’s director previously stated they’d aim for “Groundbreaking Moments” with the game. With photorealistic visuals. With such a great team working on the game and Marvel 1943: Hydra being Skydance Interactive’s first game, their success is almost inevitable. Will you play Marvel 1943: Hydra when it releases later this year? Let us know in the comments below, or head towards the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Marvel 1943: Hydra Set for Christmas 2025 Release, Confirms Black Panther Voice Actor
RX 9070 XT Matches RTX 5070 Ti AT 4K Despite Much Cheaper $600 Price Tag
- AMD’s RX 9070 XT falls behind the RTX 5070 Ti by just 1% at 4K in terms of average frame rate.
- It performs worse when ray tracing is turned on, delivering performance similar to the RTX 5070.
- Recent reviews regarding the GPU have been mostly positive due to the $600 price tag.
AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT became one of 2025’s most highly anticipated GPUs after its price tag was revealed. Priced at $600 and promising performance superior to the disappointing RTX 5070, the RX 9070 XT seemed to strike the perfect balance between price and performance.
Following this anticipation, AMD has now lifted the review embargo, making public the official benchmarks. The situation is exactly as expected, with the RX 9070 XT trading blows against the much more expensive RTX 5070 Ti.
Why it matters: The RDNA 4 series seems to be AMD’s return to more budget-friendly offerings, and this focus could not have come at a better time.
Hardware Unboxed’s benchmarks show the RX 9070 XT falling just 1% behind the RTX 5070 Ti at 4K. The former achieved 74FPS across a variety of games, while Nvidia’s $749 RTX 5070 Ti achieved 75FPS in this comparison.
The 1440p average sees the RTX 5070 Ti’s lead growing to 6%, but AMD’s offering still delivers solid results here. Unfortunately, Hardware Unboxed’s data shows the RX 9070 XT is just 20% faster than the RX 7900 GRE, as opposed to AMD’s claims of a 30% difference.
Ray tracing performance is yet another downside, though RDNA 4 delivers notable improvements over the last generation. Across different ray-traced games at 4K, the Radeon GPU averaged 38FPS compared to the RTX 5070 Ti’s 51FPS.
This result put AMD’s offering on par with the RTX 5070. Still, for the $600 price tag, the RX 9070 XT appears to be a great option in the current PC gaming market.

As long as AMD can ensure graphics cards are available at MSRP, the Radeon GPUs will become the best option by default due to Nvidia’s inflated pricing and limited stock.
Because of the current market, reviews have also praised AMD for offering a consumer-friendly option that performs well. However, should Nvidia’s Blackwell lineup begin selling closer to its MSRP, AMD would lose its current biggest advantage.
Physical Games Could Completely Disappear Following Trump Tariffs, Says Analyst
- Analyst says physical games could be in big danger after the Trump Tariffs.
- All imports from China and Mexico will now have a 25% tariff moving forward.
- This will not only impact the physical games but also all goods in general.
Donald Trump’s regime has seen big shakeups in the US, especially in terms of tariffs and taxes. While things were already looking grim, Trump has imposed a 25% tariff on goods imported from China and Mexico, which could be bad for physical games.
China and Mexico are two of the biggest players in the video game industry. They not only manufacture physical discs but also consoles, which could see a price jump as well.
Why it matters: The increased tariffs could make physical discs very unsustainable for the companies which could lead them to completely disappear from the market.

Taking to Bluesky, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella revealed the impact the Trump tariffs could have on the physical games. The high costs could force the companies to stop manufacturing them, and completely move towards digital media.
This could have a huge impact considering many people still prefer physical discs. Some major reasons for that are ownership, and that some people collect and exchange them. However, this could change very soon.

Now, this won’t only affect video games but everything imported from China and Mexico. This includes consoles, PC parts and accessories, and more. So, by the end of this year, inflation could touch a new high in the US.
The players were already quite frustrated with the price of PS5 Pro and recent Nvidia GPUs, but if things stay this way, we could see even more inflated prices and future generations launching at even higher prices.

RTX 5070 Comparable To RTX xx50 Class In Terms of CUDA Cores vs. Flagship GPU Chip
- The RTX 5070 features just 25% of the Cuda cores of the flagship RTX 5090.
- This configuration aligns it with the RTX 3050, which features 23.8% of the RTX 3090’s Cuda core configuration.
- Past xx70-class GPUs featured a much higher percentage of Cuda cores, showing how Nvidia has downgraded this tier of graphics cards in recent generations.
Nvidia made big and bold claims about the RTX 5070, boasting performance equivalent to the RTX 4090 for a mere $549. Over a month later, these claims have completely fallen flat, with the GPU delivering next to no performance uplift over the RTX 4070 Super.
A closer look at the GPU’s specifications highlights why this is the case. The RTX 5070 is heavily cut down compared to its predecessors, offering a configuration more suitable for a lower-end GPU.
Why it matters: Nvidia seems to be doing the bare minimum to retain its control over the gaming market. Despite such practices, PC gamers continue to flock toward GeForce GPUs, including the disappointing RTX 4060.

Analyzing the RTX 5070’s specifications reveals that this GPU features 25% of the RTX 5090’s CUDA cores at 6,144 cores.
However, the same is not true of past xx70-class GPUs. For instance, the RTX 4070, which was already not the best example with 5,888 cores, featured 31.9% of the RTX 4090’s CUDA cores. On the other hand, the RTX 3070 featured over 50% of the RTX 3090’s CUDA cores.
As it stands, the RTX 5070’s configuration is more akin to a xx50-class GPU from Nvidia. As a reference, the RTX 3050 featured 23.8% of the RTX 3090’s CUDA cores, but this difference was reflected in the $249 price.
Nvidia is effectively selling a budget to lower mid-range GPU disguised as the RTX 5070. Hardware Unboxed found similar results in the past, concluding that Nvidia has essentially moved each GPU down one tier without reflecting these changes in names or pricing.
This video below highlights a similar problem but in the context of the RTX 5080.
The RTX 5070 would be quite impressive as a xx60-class or xx60 Ti-tier GPU, but Nvidia is clearly prioritizing profit margins over anything else at the moment.
Fortunately, AMD seems to be bringing better GPUs to the table, promising more affordable pricing. The Radeon RX 9070 XT holds a lot of promise after Nvidia’s recent debacles, and the upcoming reviews should reveal an even clearer picture of the Radeon products later today.
Russo Brothers Open to New Avengers Game, Teaming Up with Fortnite’s Creator This Time
- Despite Marvel’s Avengers’ poor launch, a new game based on the superhero team game remains possible.
- The Russo brothers have expressed interest in developing an Avengers game.
- With Donald Mustard, creator of Fortnite working alongside, an Avengers game is looking definitely possible in the future.
Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers was the beginning of superhero games’ downfall. The game’s demise was caused by a lack of content due to the live-service model. The failure was so terrible that Square Enix delisted it from all platforms.
Coming from this terrible failure, Avengers still has a chance to be assembled for another AAA game. The directors for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film have now stated that they’re open to making an Avengers game.
Why it matters: Marvel characters have already found considerable success in the gaming world recently. Just one failure won’t stop the Avengers, one of the biggest superhero teams, from making a mark in the gaming world.

In an interview with Variety, the Russo brothers were asked about the possibility of developing tie-in games for upcoming Marvel Avengers movies.
We would definitely be open to it.
The Russo brothers recently helped develop a mobile game based on the Electric State movie through their independent media company, AGBO. While the Cosmo Kid game is a mobile title featuring retro-style gameplay, the possibility of a AAA project in the future isn’t ruled out completely.
Moreover, they also stated that Donald Mustard, Fortnite’s creator, is also at the media company’s helm and will significantly help with their storytelling across video games.

With rival comic-book publisher DC planning to create tie-in video games with their upcoming cinematic universe, it seems Marvel will also be following suit.
With The Russo’s storytelling and guidance and Donald Mustard’s experience with video game development, their joint effort for an Avengers game would be groundbreaking. While such a project isn’t currently in the works, their focus towards gaming definitely suggests an approach sooner or later.

PlayStation Gets Hit With Another Wave Of Layoffs After Multiple PS5 Projects Get Canceled
- The PlayStation Visual Arts team has recently been hit with layoffs following many PS5 game cancellations.
- The layoffs reportedly include staff that worked at Bend’s canceled live service title, but they are even more widespread than that.
- These layoffs are the result of Sony’s attempt to restructure its US game development operations to reduce expenses.
The post-Covid era has been a tragic tale for gaming, with waves of layoffs across Microsoft and Sony over the years since. However, 2025 was projected to be a more stable year after a rough last 12 months for PlayStation, but things don’t seem to be getting better.
Now, a new report suggests that the PlayStation Visual Arts team has been struck with layoffs following the cancellation of multiple live service PS5 projects this year. These dismissals also include staff that worked at Bend Studio’s recently canned live service game.
Why it matters: Multiple waves of layoffs for PlayStation studios this year are certainly not a good sign for things to come, especially after the conglomerate already closed multiple studios and canceled projects since 2024.

As reported by Kotaku, the layoffs affected the PSVA team, which provided motion capture, art, and animation support for major first-party studios. These developers also worked with Naughty Dog on The Last of Us remasters and other projects.
The layoffs today hit hard. PSVA let go of developers with decades of subject matter expertise; talent that will be extraordinarily difficult to recoup.
-Former PlayStation Visual Arts Project manager, Abby LeMaster.
However, a source informed the site that these layoffs are ‘more widespread’ than just affecting the PlayStation Visual Arts staff. These firings happened because Sony attempted to shed its US game development operations due to high expenses.

NetEase also joined this trend in 2025 by divesting dozens of its foreign studios, including closures and sellouts, to pull away from the Western market.
Do you think these waves of layoffs will stop affecting notable PlayStation studios for the rest of the year, or are we in for a major shift in the industry? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Far Cry Multiplayer Extraction Shooter Has Now Been Rebooted
- Project Maverick, the extraction-based multiplayer Far Cry project, has now been rebooted.
- For quite some time, the title was speculated to be rebooted internally, but the final nail in the coffin came after its tech team was shifted to Far Cry 7.
- Project Maverick is now back in its prototype stages.
With the series’ longest hiatus since 2021’s Far Cry 6, Ubisoft has now gone back to the drawing board to innovate with the repetitive formula that has lasted more than a decade.
The French publisher was working on two Far Cry projects, including a mainline entry and Far Cry Maverick, a multiplayer extraction-based shooter. A new report reveals that Project Maverick has now been rebooted.
Why It Matters: Ubisoft’s track record in the past few years has been at an all-time low. Multiple cancellations and failures have led the company’s reputation and net worth to spiral down, and the tradition isn’t stopping anytime soon.

Project Maverick was expected to be rebooted internally for quite some time. However, the final confirmation came when the title’s dedicated tech team moved on to Far Cry 7’s development.
Ubisoft Montreal will keep the development lead on this project, but the extraction shooter is now being taken back to the drawing board in its prototype stages. Ubisoft Sherbrooke and Ubisoft Berlin will assist in the game’s development.
Project Maverick was a part of Far Cry 7 in its early development stages before it split into a separate multiplayer project.
Still, if anything, Far Cry 7’s release in 2026 is looking optimistic, with more developers joining the project. With completely overhauled mechanics and a new setting featuring England, the new entry is poised to revitalise what would otherwise be considered a dying IP.

On the other hand, if Assassin’s Creed Shadows fails, the entire roadmap of Ubisoft releases might change. Hence, Project Maverick may even be cancelled.
What are your thoughts on Project Maverick’s reboot? Do you think the project will still be completed? Let us know in the comments below or visit the official Tech4Gamers Forums.
RTX 5070 Dubbed Worst 70 Series From Nvidia; Only 1% Faster Than 4070 Super At 1440p
- The RTX 5070 is, on average, just 1% faster than the RTX 4070 Super at 1440p.
- It frequently runs out of VRAM when utilizing heavy ray tracing effects.
- The GPU is also significantly slower than the RTX 4090 despite Nvidia’s marketing stating otherwise.
The RTX 5070 was pitched as the most exciting Blackwell gaming product since it was seemingly on track to strike the perfect balance between price and performance. However, ahead of this release, stock shortages and the rest of the RTX 50 series’ problems created concerns about the RTX 5070.
It seems these concerns were not misplaced, as the latest RTX 5070 reviews are anything but encouraging. As per these reviews, the graphics card is practically a rebranded RTX 4070 Super.
Why it matters: These reviews paint a grim picture for the RTX 5070. The graphics card is now likely to be completely outclassed by the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT once they arrive.
As per Hardware Unboxed’s benchmarks, the RTX 5070 has failed to deliver a substantial leap. In fact, the reviewer has dubbed this GPU Nvidia’s worst 70-series launch to date.
The benchmarks show a 15-20% typical difference between the RTX 4070 and RTX 5070, but the results look much worse when using the RTX 4070 Super as a reference point.
Perhaps the worst part is that Hardware Unboxed found the RTX 5070 to be slower than the RTX 4070 Super in certain games like Stalker 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p. Other games, which favored the higher bandwidth of the new GPU, however, saw the RTX 5070 leading by a somewhat impressive margin.
One such example was Hogwarts Legacy, where the RTX 5070 led by 21% when compared to the RTX 4070 Super at 1440p. Unfortunately, this was one of the rarer instances, and the average lead saw the RTX 5070 pulling ahead of the RTX 4070 Super by an abysmal 1% at 1440p.
Moreover, this means that it falls far behind the RTX 4090’s performance by a significant margin. The RTX 5070 is also quick to run out of VRAM in games that utilize intensive ray tracing, showcasing yet another weakness of the GPU.
While the $549 MSRP appears to be a saving grace in this scenario, the graphics card is expected to sell for much higher prices due to limited stock at release.

Because the RX 9070 XT is expected to perform so much better, Nvidia might opt for yet another Super refresh for its Blackwell lineup. The gaming giant could also move forward with price drops, but future events will depend on the market’s preference.
If gamers continue to ignore AMD’s offerings in favor of Nvidia’s, Team Green will have no reason to lower prices or offer better options. For context, the RTX 4060 is currently Steam’s most popular GPU, and it received similarly negative reviews during its launch period.
