Architectural Differences

1. Processing Nodes & Architecture: Both GPUs are based on Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace architecture and utilize TSMC’s 5nm process node. 
2. Clock Speeds: Both GPUs share similar clock speeds where the RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4070 Ti have a base clock of 2340 MHz and 2310 MHz, respectively. Both have the same boost clock frequency of 2610 MHz.
3. VRAM: As for VRAM, the RTX 4070 Ti Super boasts 16GB of GDDR6X memory whereas the RTX 4070 Ti arrives with 12GB memory of the same GDDR6X type.
4. Bus Width & Bandwidth: The RTX 4070 Ti Super has a bus width of 256-bit and a memory bandwidth of up to 672.3 GB/s as compared to the RTX 4070 Ti’s 192-bit and 504.2 GB/s bandwidth.

Almost one year and five days apart, Nvidia released the RTX 4070 Ti’s successor, the RTX 4070 Ti Super. We decided to put the RTX 4070 Ti Super Vs RTX 4070 Ti against one another to see if the longer time gap between the two cards also equates to a high-performance gap. 

RTX 4070 Ti Super Vs RTX 4070 Ti: Benchmark At 1440p

With the technical details being covered, let us proceed forward by conducting a benchmark test at 1440p which will help you in differentiating the two cards more easily.

Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora

• Right from the get-go, we see the two GPUs colliding with almost the same results where the RTX 4070 Ti Super leads with 63 FPS over the RTX 4070 Ti’s 61 FPS, being 3.2% faster.
• The 1% lows were the same where both the graphic cards stood side by side with an average of 49 FPS on Avatar Frontiers Of Pandora.

Starfield

• On our next game, the RTX 4070 Ti Super outperformed the RTX 4070 Ti with a 6.6% performance margin as it gained 93 FPS. The RTX 4070 Ti, on the other hand, averaged 87 FPS.
• The 1% lows were similar in this game as well where the RTX 4070 Ti Super was a few steps ahead of the RTX 4070 Ti, obtaining 73 FPS and 71 FPS respectively.

Hogwarts Legacy

• Here, we saw that the RTX 4070 Ti Super displayed an 8.2% edge over the RTX 4070 Ti, acquiring an average of 63 FPS as compared to the RTX 4070 Ti’s 58 FPS
• The 1% lows were in slight favor of the RTX 4070 Ti Super which managed to average 49 FPS whereas the RTX 4070 Ti ran very closely behind it with an average of 46 FPS.

Alan Wake 2

• In the recent Alan Wake 2, the RTX 4070 Ti Super crossed the 60 FPS mark as it averaged 61 FPS. Whereas, the RTX 4070 Ti averaged 53 FPS, making its successor 14% faster.
• As for the 1% lows, the gap widened when compared with the previous game, because the RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4070 Ti averaged 53 FPS and 48 FPS, respectively.

Cyberpunk 2077

• In our last game, we saw the RTX 4070 Ti Super outshining its predecessor with a 4.7% edge as it achieved an average of 87 FPS whereas the RTX 4070 Ti acquired an average of 83 FPS.
• Speaking of the 1% lows on Cyberpunk 2077, the RTX 4070 Ti Super performed with an average of 87 FPS. On the contrary, the RTX 4070 Ti came close to it by averaging 83 FPS.

Overall Gaming Performance

Comparing the RTX 4070 Ti Vs RTX 4070 Ti Super, we saw that the RTX 4070 Ti Super demonstrably outachieved the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti by a 7% margin across the five games. Speaking of the averages of 1% low FPS, we observed that the RTX 4070 Ti Super operated with a 5.8% advantage on average.

Thermal Statistics

The table demonstrates the differences in temperatures between the two GPUs where we observed that the RTX 4070 Ti maintained relatively cooler temperatures, being 3.4% cooler than the RTX 4070 Ti Super. This difference is obvious as its performance was also slightly lower. 

Power Consumption

In terms of power consumption, we noticed that the RTX 4070 Ti once again leads this area as well, being 7.6% more power-efficient than the RTX 4070 Ti. This is extremely good on the RTX 4070 Ti’s end, given its performance difference wasn’t significant but its power difference is.

Price And Value

The RTX 4070 Ti Super’s current price has stayed the same for the base variants while it increased by 11.7% for its higher-tier models. The RTX 4070 Ti’s price has dropped by 2.5% for its cheaper models while it rose by 6% for the higher-end variants. On average, the RTX 4070 Ti is around 3.6% cheaper than the RTX 4070 Ti Super. 

Editor`s Note

Given the price point and performance, the RTX 4070 Ti Super seems more like a decoy item, which makes the other releases, such as the RTX 4080 Super and the RTX 4070 Super, appear better in value.

Conclusion – Which One Would We Recommend?

RTX 4070 Ti Super: There’s a performance difference between the RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4070 Ti, where the RTX 4070 Ti Super performed better than its predecessor. Given the minimal price difference, it’s always better to get the latest GPU since you get a newer piece of technology which will increase your chances for future-proofing.

RTX 4070 Ti: As of writing this article, the price difference between the two GPUs is quite low. the RTX 4070 Ti’s price might decrease in a few months, and we recommend you get it only when its price decreases as it would become a better option to consider. Its lower temperatures and power consumption also add to its credibility.

Getting the RTX 4070 Ti Super seems like a viable option for now given the reasonable price point. Despite any decision you make, you must make sure that it lines up perfectly with your other PC components and is based on your budget.
