Best Games To Look Forward To For 2025

Story Highlight
  • 2025 seems filled to the brim with exciting games.
  • You can pick between the likes of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance next year.
  • These titles, along with everything else coming in 2025, should prove to be quite interesting.

The next year is upon us and promises a slew of exciting games. As it stands, 2025 could be one of gaming’s biggest years to date, potentially proving to be a bit too heavy on the wallet for most gamers.

It may be best, then, to plan ahead. We’ve compiled a list of the biggest games coming in 2025, so you can refer to this list and prepare yourself for the gaming industry’s biggest blockbusters. While you’re at it, you might want to look at sites like G2A for the best deals, too.

Why it matters: 2024 was already an exciting year for games, with plenty of major releases. However, the next 12 months seem to be completely different.

1. Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin's Creed Shadows

Ubisoft’s upcoming title is finally taking the Assassin’s Creed franchise to Japan. Following a major delay, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch in two months, introducing Yasuke and Naoe for two different playstyles.

This entry also marks Assassin’s Creed’s first current-gen-only release, opening up opportunities to utilize new technology like ray tracing.

2. Prison Architect 2

Prison Architect 2

For fans of management sims, Prison Architect 2 should prove to be a notable release next year. Thanks to the transition to 3D graphics, in-depth management gameplay, and more, this release holds the promise for incredibly dynamic gameplay next year.

It should also launch in a polished state since the team’s last delay was focused on performance improvements.

3. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Previously scheduled for Fall 2024, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was among the few games delayed to 2025 this year. With developers from games like Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture leading the project, this sequel promises a dark and gritty action RPG.

There is already plenty of excitement for this release, and more details are set to arrive soon.

5. Monster Hunter Wilds

Wrapping up this list is Capcom’s highly-revered franchise. Monster Hunter Wilds is bringing the same monster-hunting experience that players have come to love to an all-new generation of players, receiving plenty of praise through the initial previews.

The game arrives in February, leaving just a few more months before its highly anticipated release.

This is far from everything 2025 has to offer, but this list has the essentials covered. For even more fun, you can always look forward to games like Doom: The Dark Ages, Ghost of Yotei, and Death Stranding 2.

Also, GTA 6 is currently targeting a fall 2025 release despite recent rumors hinting at an eventual delay to 2026.

Ubisoft India Reportedly Working On ‘Unannounced AAA & AAAA Projects’

Story Highlight
  • The first ever game released as AAAA was Skulls and Bones, but it was a disappointment.
  • Ubisoft is the only company that has launched an AAAA game.
  • The company seems to be working on more unannounced AAA and AAAA game projects now.

Ubisoft’s standing as a gaming company took a really bad turn this year, and it is trying to recover from the disaster. It has been a long time since the developer made a game that offered a groundbreaking success.

Ubisoft was once a gaming powerhouse and a favourite of many is now fighting to preserve its spot in the industry. Despite struggling the gaming giant seems to be working on more AAAA and AAA projects that are yet to be announced.

Why it matters: The gaming company introduced Skulls and Bones as its first-ever AAAA game, which attracted criticism from many fans. Even CDPR made fun of the company by saying The Witcher 4 would be an AAAA game

Ubisoft's Unannounced Projects

This information comes from Karthikeyan S, a junior sound designer at the company’s Indian division. Karthikeyan has been working at the company for nearly two years and has been working on unannounced projects.

Responsible for creating Sound design, SFX and foley for the unannounced AAA and AAAA game projects.

This almost confirms that the gaming giant is working on more ambitious projects but has yet to confirm their existence. That said, fans might not be optimistic about these game projects as Ubisoft’s AAAA game debut wasn’t really a successful one

Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones, First Ever AAAA Game, Was A Disappointment

Skull and Bones was massively criticised by the fandom, and it wasn’t a commercial success either. Just three months after launch, the game was available for a mere $20, which shows that it failed to attract the desired sales.

That said, Ubisoft seems to have learned a lot from the failure of Star Wars Outlaws, as it had to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The CEO also aims to be a key player in the industry, so there is little hope for the company

What do you think of the unannounced AAA & AAAA projects? Do you think the gaming giant can redefine a AAAA game after the failure of Skull and Bones? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below, or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers forums.

What Makes The Netac ZX20L 2TB Portable SSD Different?

What sets the Netac ZX20L 2TB Portable SSD apart is its gamer-style design. The red and gray engraving on the aluminum frame gives it a bold and unique look that stands out from the usual plain black boxes most external SSDs resemble. Of course, looks are subjective, so the design that makes it different from other portable SSDs can very well be the reason you don’t like it.

Unboxing And Accessories

The SSD comes in a black box with red accents, highlighting the design language Netac has gone with this drive.

Accessories include a user manual and Type-C to Type-C and Type-C to Type-A cables packed in a small pouch.

Design

Netac ZX20L Portable SSD - Design
Netac ZX20L Portable SSD (Image By Tech4Gamers)

The SSD is packed in an aluminum chassis, which is also good for heat dissipation. The main highlight here is the red and gray design engraving over the frame, which gives the SSD a very aggressive and gamer-ish aesthetic. While the style may not be for everyone, it is definitely different from most external SSDs that often look like a small black box.

As for practicality, the SSD weighs just about 50g and measures 102 x 30 x 9.2 mm, making it a great choice for traveling. It can easily fit in your pocket, and the Type-C interface makes it compatible with iPhone 15/16 as well, so you can shoot with ProRes and not worry about running out of storage.

One thing that I should mention here is that while the SSD looks great and has all the performance-packed features, it misses any waterproof certification, and the exterior is not exactly meant to handle rough and tough usage.

Unlike the front, the black has a simple and clean black design with some information about the SSD’s variant.

Testing

I tested the drive using 3DMARK’s Storage Benchmark and CrystalDiskMark. I have also included screenshots of CrystalDiskInfo and Disk Management. Here’s the test setup:

WARNING: Since the SSD uses the USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C interface and has a rated speed of 2,000MB/s (read), you have to use it with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port to get the maximum performance. Otherwise, the drive will operate at 1,000MB/s. We tested this drive on the MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE, which can run the drive at its rated speed.

Here is its 3DMARK Storage Benchmark test result:

Netac ZX20L Portable SSD - 3D Storage Benchmark Score
3DMARK Storage Benchmark Score

The drive achieved a 1,346 score with an average bandwidth of 216.05 MB/s and an average access time of 125 µ. This isn’t the highest we’ve seen, but it is more than enough for gaming as well.

Netac ZX20L Portable SSD - CrystalDiskMark
CrystalDiskMark (Image By Tech4Gamers)

CrystalDiskMark shows a very interesting output. To recap, the drive is rated for write speeds of up to 1,700 MB/s and read speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s. However, during our CrystalDiskMark testing, its write performance exceeded the rated speeds and scored almost 2,000 MB/s, while the read performance fell short by around 100 MB/s. In any case, this is still a great performance.

Should You Buy It?

Buy It If

✅You’re after a lightweight portable SSD: If you travel around a lot and are on the lookout for a portable SSD that can easily be connected to your phone, laptop, or camera, the Netac ZX20L is a good choice.

✅You want high-speed performance: As seen in our tests, the Netac ZX20L performed quite well and lived up to its rated speeds, making it a very good option for both gaming and video editing. Just make sure you’re using it with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C port, otherwise, the speeds will decrease to 1,000 MB/s.

✅You are into flashy designs: There are other SSDs in the market that offer similar performance at the same price point, but the Netax ZX20L’s aesthetics and design are very different from what we usually see among external SSDs.

Don’t Buy It If

❌You’re after a durable SSD: While the aluminum exterior should hold up against casual bumps and drops, the lack of any durability or waterproof certification raises the question if the SSD can handle rough usage or not. If you have a reputation for spilling drinks or dropping your stuff, I would suggest you go with a more rugged SSD.

My Thoughts

The Netac ZX20L Portable SSD is available from 256 GB to 2 TB capacities, and our 2 TB variant showed solid performance, living up to its promise of high-speed storage. In our CrystalDiskMark tests, it exceeded its rated write speed of 1,700 MB/s, hitting nearly 2,000 MB/s, while the read speed came close at around 1,900 MB/s. This makes it a great option for tasks like transferring large video files or gaming. The 3DMARK benchmark also showed respectable results, with a good balance of speed and responsiveness. However, to get the best performance, you’ll need to use it with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port; otherwise, speeds drop to 1,000 MB/s.

The design is another highlight, with its red and gray engraved frame giving it a bold, standout look. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to carry, making it ideal for traveling. Netac also provides a limited 5-year warranty with it. Overall, if you’re looking for a fast, portable SSD with a unique design and you have the right hardware to use it, the Netac ZX20L is a great pick.

Read Our XPG CyberCore II 1000W 80+ Platinum Power Supply Review

The XPG CyberCore II 1000W power supply is a solid option for anyone, regardless of their use case scenario. This unit’s compact design, silent fan, and performance make it stand out. It supports decent overclocking potential, will be perfect with the latest PC components, and will last a long time. But that’s not all; let me tell you how it performed on our test bench.

For starters, the PSU’s voltage regulation is astounding, mainly thanks to the digital controllers. The percentage difference in the 12V rail regulation was 0.66%, making it one of the most stable power supplies on our list. Furthermore, it effortlessly surpassed the 80+ Platinum requirements in our efficiency test, marking 93.40%. Lastly, the ripple performance is also decent. I expected it to be lower than 16mV at 100% load, but it will still ensure stable performance during extreme overclocking.

Here’s what Abdul Hannan, one of our hardware reviewers, had to say about the XPG CyberCore II’s reliability, performance, and efficiency in his in-depth review of the product:

The compact design and premium components of the XPG CyberCore II PSU make it a solid choice for those seeking reliability and performance in their PC builds.

✅Buy It If
You prioritize reliability and performance: If you’re looking for a power supply that will be one of your most trusted friends for a long time, then the XPG CyberCore II 1000W 80+ Platinum has your back with its premium build quality. Its Japanese capacitors and compliance with the latest standards ensure stable and efficient power delivery no matter what you throw at the PSU.
❌Don't Buy It If
You’re new to PC building: Although it’s not a big issue if you’re planning on building your PC yourself but are new to the craft, this power supply might not be the best product to start with because of its hard-sleeved cables, which can be pretty difficult to route and manage. The cables are also longer than usual, so if you don’t route them correctly, they’ll stick out in your PC and might hinder airflow.

What Makes It The Best Overall 1000W Power Supply?

The XPG CyberCore II 1000W has a Platinum A- Cybenetics rating, many connectors, outstanding performance while maintaining the highest efficiency standards, and a 10-year warranty. It doesn’t cost as much and is a decent pairing to achieve a new overclocking record. Hence, considering all these points, it is the best overall 1000W power supply.

WARNING: The power supply doesn’t have a hybrid fan mode, so you can’t control the fan speed manually.

Corsair HX1000i Platinum

Best Performance 1000W Power Supply

Specifications: Size: 180 x 150 x 85mm | Efficiency Rating: 80+ Platinum | Modular: Yes (Fully) | Wattage: 1000W | Protection: OPP, OVP, UVP, OCP, OTP, SCP, NLO, SIP | ATX 24-Pin: 1 | EPS 4+4-Pin: 2 | 12V-2×6 (12+4)-Pin: 1 | PCI-E 6+2-Pin: 4 | SATA: 8 | MOLEX 4-Pin: 8

Pros

  • Exceptional voltage ripple performance
  • Hybrid fan mode
  • Top-tier build quality
  • Lots of connectors provided
  • 10-year warranty period
  • iCUE software control feature

Cons

  • No 12VHWPR native connector
  • Expensive

Read Our Corsair HX1000i Platinum Power Supply Review

Are you looking for a power supply you can control freely? If so, the Corsair HX1000i Platinum might be a decent choice because of the iCUE software control feature. You can easily change the fan speeds and play around with the PSU as you wish. But that’s not the only reason I love this unit. Other reasons include its outstanding performance, build quality, and warranty period. The only things I dislike about the PSU are that it doesn’t come with a native 12VHPWR connector and has a significantly higher price.

On my test bench, the PSU showed varied results. For example, the voltage regulation percentile difference was pretty good at 0.91. Still, I would have preferred a tighter regulation because it showcases the quality of the PSU’s design, especially for higher-rated components. On the other hand, the HX1000i is quite efficient, showing an average of 92.79% efficiency, going over the 80+ Platinum rating, placing only second to the XPG CyberCore II on this list. Lastly, the ripple suppression test showcased a maximum of 12mV at 100% load, completely sweeping off the competition.

This is how I described the power supply in my review:

This time around though, HX1000i clearly manages to live up to the same old tradition with its exceptional voltage ripple results.

✅Buy It If
You want exceptional overclocking potential: If you’re upgrading your PC and power supply to achieve stable extreme overclocks, this power supply should be at the top of your list. With some of the best ripple suppression, high build quality, and an impressive warranty, it’s the perfect option to test the waters with manual overclocking.
❌Don't Buy It If
You’re on a lower budget: Unfortunately, while the power supply is amazing in many things, its pricing could be a little lower. I don’t recommend this one if you can’t spend around $260 on a 1000W PSU. You can likely get a 1200W 80+ Gold power supply in that budget, so the HX1000i’s value drops slightly in that aspect. However, the latter might have lower efficiency and not hit the same performance mark.

What Makes It The Best Performance 1000W Power Supply?

A few reasons make the Corsair HX1000i Platinum the best performance 1000W power supply. Whether you note its efficiency, load regulation, or ripple suppression, it doesn’t lose to anyone without putting up decent competition. Its amazing features, including manual fan control, many connectors for your storage devices, and a 10-year warranty, help improve its value despite its higher price.

PRO TIP: The Corsair iCUE software allows users to not only set their manual fan curve for the power supply but also monitor power analytics and control individual voltage rails.

Smaller PC builds have been gaining a lot of attention recently, and I understand why. If you don’t have enough space on your desk but want a personal PC that packs a lot of performance, the Corsair SF1000L SFX Gold PSU will help fulfill your wishes. It has a size of 130 x 125 x 63.5mm, doesn’t cost much, performs better than many full-sized power supplies, and handles overclocking decently well. It has its hiccups as well, but beyond that, it’s a remarkable SFF PSU, and I have tests to prove it.

For example, the most notable aspect of this power supply is its ripple suppression performance, where it showed 12mV at 100% load — a score not even ATX power supplies can easily achieve. Similarly, in its efficiency test, it easily crosses 80+ Gold and touches the Platinum level with an efficiency of 92.33%. The voltage regulation is also extremely tight, making it impressive for most use cases. Except for its noise levels crossing 41.62dB(A) at 115V AC input, there’s nothing bad about this component.

We were in absolute awe during our testing. This is how we summarized the power supply:

The Corsair SF1000L PSU is an SFL power supply that exceeds expectations with its performance and efficiency. Slightly larger than SFX PSUs, it offers better results under max load due to improved heat dissipation.

✅Buy It If
You plan on upgrading to an ATX PC down the line: If you don’t want to keep an SFX PC in the long run but don’t want to waste money on another power supply, the Corsair SF1000L SFX Gold’s SFX-to-ATX bracket will help solve your problems. Conversely, you can use it in your SFX build and keep it on your ATX PC, providing greater longevity and superior performance.
❌Don't Buy It If
You can’t handle greater fan noise: If you dislike noisy fans and want to game or work in a quiet environment, this power supply might not be your best choice. In my testing, the fans became super noisy after 50% load and went over 41.62dB(A) at 115V AC, making the noise pretty audible. You can curb the noise by setting the fan speed, but then the PSU’s temperatures will increase, and I don’t recommend that.

What Makes It The Best SFX 1000W Power Supply?

Most aspects of the Corsair SF1000L PSU exceed its competition, which makes it the best SFX 1000W power supply. Namely, its ripple suppression, voltage regulation, and efficiency exceeding its 80+ Gold rating are eye-openers. Moreover, it is affordable and supports longevity by including an SFX-to-ATX adapter bracket, making it more viable for customers planning a smaller PC build temporarily.

Editor`s Note

I like the Corsair SF1000L SFX Gold power supply the most for multiple reasons. Firstly, it has impressive performance and supports decent overclocking. Secondly, it doesn’t cost much. Thirdly, it’s perfect for SFX and ATX PC builds. Lastly, it easily exceeds 80+ Gold efficiency. Honestly, I don’t see many reasons to skip over this power supply if you’re looking for something in the 1000W range.

For the last power supply, we have the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050W, which is suited for anyone looking to future-proof their PC while staying on a lower budget. This power supply has many things to love, such as its impressive price-to-performance ratio, outstanding build quality, and decent overall performance. I suggest looking into this component if you’re buying an affordable yet decent power supply for 1440p or 4K gaming. Why, you ask? Here are a few specifics from our testing.

Firstly, the power supply has extremely tight voltage regulation, capping at 11.87V at 100% load on the 12V rail, with a differential of only 0.75, surpassing the Corsair HX1000i Platinum. Moreover, the Revolution D.F. X easily crosses 80+ Gold efficiency, reaching Platinum with an efficiency of around 92.33%. We have seen better from 80+ Gold PSUs, but remember, this is a budget option. Lastly, the ripple suppression crossed 38mV at 100% load. Unfortunately, this isn’t good if you want to overclock your PC.

In our in-depth review, Abdul Hannan summarized the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050W’s performance and value by stating the following:

If you’re in the market for a reliable and competitive PSU that offers a blend of performance and innovative features, the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050W is a solid choice. You care about the build quality and extra features in an affordable PSU: If you’re worried about the build quality of an affordable power supply and whether it has any extra features to leverage, then I propose the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050W power supply. With high-quality grade Japanese capacitors and dust-free rotation technology, the power supply offers a 10-year warranty to highlight its superior build quality while maintaining an affordable price.
❌Don't Buy It If
You want to achieve higher overclocks from your new PC: Because of its subpar ripple suppression performance, averaging 38mV at 100% load, the Enermax Revolution D.F. X 1050W power supply isn’t the best option for overclocking your new high-end PC components. If you want to achieve greater overclocks, I recommend leaning towards the Corsair HX1000i Platinum or XPG CyberCore II power supplies.

What Makes It The Best Budget 1000W Power Supply?

While providing impressive build quality with Japanese capacitors, a 10-year warranty period, a zero dust rotation feature, and decent performance for most use cases, the Enermax D.F. X 1050W power supply is a treat for many with a lower budget. Surprisingly, the power supply has 14 built-in lighting presets on its side panel, making it the best budget 1000W power supply.

Our Test Results For The Best 1000W Power Supply

We have added our test results and benchmarks of all the power supplies tested in this article to back our claims. After all, is there a more logical way to determine which power supply is best for you without looking at how it performs in a real-world setting?

Power Supply Key Terms

There are many jargon and difficult words associated with power supplies. New PC builders often get caught up on certain terms and may choose the wrong power supply for their use case scenario. To help you avoid such circumstances, here are a few PSU key terms you should know:

  • 12VHWPR CableShort for 12-Volt High Power Cable, the cable was initially introduced in ATX 3.0 power supplies to support more power-hungry graphics cards, like NVIDIA’s flagship RTX 4090 and below. Before you purchase your power supply, ensure the GPU cable is compatible with your graphics card’s connector. Otherwise, you’ll have to use an adapter.
  • EfficiencyThe efficiency of a power supply is calculated by how effectively it can convert AC power to DC power. These efficiency ratings start at 80+ Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium. Most decent power supplies have an 80+ rating of Gold or higher. I don’t recommend purchasing anything below that efficiency for a high-end PC build.
  • ATX 3.0It is one of the latest PSU standards (now ATX 3.1) and effectively handles the high power requirements of modern computers. All ATX 3.0 power supplies have a 12VHPWR cable, while all ATX 3.1 power supplies have a 12V-2×6 cable.
  • Voltage RegulationA power supply’s voltage regulation involves maintaining a constant output voltage, even when the load changes. The load usually changes when you plug in (or remove) additional devices or when the input voltage changes.
  • Voltage RippleThis term refers to the small fluctuations or variations in a PSU’s output voltage. It is usually caused during the AC-to-DC conversion process. Ideally, the voltage ripple should be 0mV, but that’s not humanely possible. Therefore, a lower voltage ripple means greater overclocking possibilities for a power supply.
  • WattageA power supply’s wattage measures its maximum power output capacity, measured in Watts (W). Usually, you always want a power supply that can deliver significantly higher wattage than your current PC demands to ensure better future-proofing and more stable wattage transfer.

How We Picked The Best 1000W Power Supply

A lot of factors go into consideration before we choose a PC component. The same goes for a power supply. We tested several PSUs, factored in their performance, modularity, compatibility, and build quality, and then selected the best ones. Here is a quick rundown of what you should look for when doing your research:

  • Performance: One of the most important aspects to consider when buying a power supply is its performance. That includes the power supply’s ripple suppression, load regulation, PSU efficiency, and transient response. A decent power supply will always be more stable and reliable under heavier loads. After all, what’s the point of building a high-end PC that requires a 1000W PSU if you’re going to fit a cheap, unreliable PSU?
  • ATX 3.0/3.1 Compatibility: ATX 3.0 and 3.1 compatibility are, arguably, the most important aspects of choosing a power supply. You can’t choose a PSU if it’s incompatible with your graphics card, right? Therefore, I only included power supplies that support the latest standards and provide reliable power in a cable that won’t melt anytime soon.
  • ModularityAlthough not one of the most important aspects, I considered a power supply’s modularity because it is easier to build with and doesn’t cost a lot of extra money. Fully modular power supplies help with cable management and increase airflow, so they’re a good addition to the PC’s aesthetics and overall performance.
  • Build Quality: I always pick power supplies with the highest build quality because they are only as good as their capacitors and internals. A decent power supply will have a sturdy build quality that matches its warranty. Therefore, our in-depth reviews always have a teardown analysis to determine whether the capacitors are cut out for the job.

FAQs

Should I upgrade to an 850W or 1000W power supply for better future proofing?

If you want to future proof your build, the higher-wattage power supply will always be a decent choice. So, I recommend you opt for the 1000W PSU.

Can an RTX 4090 run on a 1000W power supply?

Yes. An RTX 4090 can run on a 1000W power supply. If you want to know the specific wattage calculation, please go through our PSU wattage calculator, which is linked at the top of the article!

If I upgrade my power supply today, will it last 5 years?

Yes. Most modern power supplies are extremely reliable and can most likely run for longer than 5 years.

Microsoft Has Purchased Nearly 500k Nvidia Hopper GPUs For AI Acceleration In 2024

Story Highlight
  • Leaked details reveal a larger, slimmer design with improved Joy-Con features like battery indicators and a more secure attachment mechanism.
  • The console is expected to support high-end games and feature a variety of accessories, including a new steering wheel and a PlayStation 5-style controller.
  • The Switch 2 is rumoured to launch in January 2025.

Microsoft will end the year as the company that purchased the most NVIDIA Hopper GPUs in 2024. Thanks to the latest data from the Financial Times, we know that Microsoft acquired nearly half a million graphics cards from NVIDIA in 2024 alone. Of course, 100% of these graphics cards will be used exclusively to accelerate artificial intelligence.

Now, don’t think that their coronation is far behind. Companies like ByteDance (TikTok) and other Chinese giants like Tencent and Meta have bought nearly a quarter of a million graphics cards.

When discussing NVIDIA Hopper graphics cards, we refer to the NVIDIA H100, H800, H20, and H200 graphics chips. These companies buy any available GPUs to expand and create new data centres related to AI learning and acceleration. They can’t sit back and wait for a specific model to become available, even more so with this fierce competition already racing for AI.

Microsoft alone spent over $30 billion on AI GPUs, almost double the amount that NVIDIA’s second-largest buyer, ByteDance, spent. The company bought around 230,000 graphics cards.

It’s not bad, despite the sanctions imposed on Chinese companies. The main purchases are the NVIDIA H800, a special version that can be sold in China. There is talk of the sanctioned NVIDIA H100 obtained through third parties.

It is also striking to see Tesla / xAI with about 200,000 GPUs purchased. For context, it is officially known that they have accumulated more than 1 million graphics cards for their AI projects.

Outside of this Top 5, we have other American companies such as Amazon, which bought less than 200,000 graphics cards, and Google, which bought around 160,000 units.

AI, AI and More AI

Nuclear Reactor
Nuclear Reactor

We’re seeing the world’s top tech companies invest much of their capital into AI alone. According to Vlad Galabov, director of cloud and data centre research at Omdia, NVIDIA GPUs account for almost all of these companies’ capital expenditures for the server business, including Meta, Tesla/xAI, Amazon, and Google

That’s why companies like Amazon, Google, and Meta are working on custom AI training and inference solutions. Google has its TPU, Amazon has its Trainium and Inferentia chips, and Meta has its MTIA.

The hyperscalers are eager to develop their in-house solutions, but NVIDIA’s control over the software stack and timely product updates seem difficult to break. Of course, we are just around the corner from its new NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, which promise a huge leap in performance. And yes, as it could not be otherwise, all these companies have already “fought” to see who gets a greater allocation of them during the first months of their launch.

It should be remembered that even Meta is looking for a nuclear partner. Microsoft announced its plans to restart a nuclear reactor to power these NVIDIA GPUs, which would allow it to have the energy to train its AI for 20 years. And in the AI race, there is another race, which is to have access to all the energy necessary for this rapid expansion.

Nintendo Switch 2: New Images, Accessories, Dimensions And More Details Leaked

Story Highlight
  • Leaked details reveal a larger, slimmer design with improved Joy-Con features like battery indicators and a more secure attachment mechanism.
  • The console is expected to support high-end games and feature a variety of accessories, including a new steering wheel and a PlayStation 5-style controller.
  • The Switch 2 is rumoured to launch in January 2025.

While we’ve already seen the full design of the Switch 2 in this week’s leak, and it came out again in a rubber case yesterday, today we have additional details from one of Nintendo’s main leakers.

The console is described as Triple A (AAA), which is modern, and in part, it will be because, as they say, “the devil is in the details.” Therefore, in today’s Switch 2 leak, we will discuss its accessories, the Joy-Con, size and weight, and additional details.

The date continues to approach, and all the rumours follow the same line: January 2025, to be exact, at the end of said month. Today, we have more proof that the leaked design is correct, but it also has interesting and relevant details that cannot go unnoticed.

Switch 2 Will Be an AAA Console With New Features & Plenty of Accessories

Nintendo Switch 2
Nintendo Switch 2

Several accessories are being prepared for this console, including a “new” steering wheel to include in the Joy-Co or a PlayStation 5-style controller to make it more comfortable to use more ergonomic, nothing that we had not seen before the original Switch, but adapted to the new Nintendo devices.

Other minor but interesting new features that have been leaked beyond the Switch 2 accessories are the battery indicators on the front of the Joy-Con, which let us know when we will run out of power in each one. Another minor detail is that the console and its accessories will be officially revealed before the launch of Donkey Kong HD, so we understand that this will arrive in February.

Nintendo Switch Size, Weight And Other Details

There are more things to cover, minor but relevant. The console will measure 273 mm long by 118.5 mm high and only 32.5 mm thick, larger than the Steam Deck.

At the same time, Nintendo has managed to achieve the impossible. Switch 2 is said to be lighter than the Steam Deck console, making it perfect for holding in your hands for much longer, something children will surely appreciate. As if that weren’t enough, the ZL and ZR buttons are confirmed to be larger than those of the original Switch.

Another minor novelty is that the magnetic Joy-Cons have a hooking system that confirms their attachment to the console with a click to release them. There are two release buttons on the back of each Joy-Con; they are individual.

And that’s all for this new leak loaded with data and details, where the most striking visuals are the Switch 2 accessories. Still, the small improvements that Nintendo has implemented are the most relevant, which people like, especially regarding the size/weight ratio.

On the other hand, analysts are positive about the new console, considering that new research firm data revealed that Switch 2 is expected to sell up to 17 million units in 2025 alone.

Stalker 2 Dev Confident Game Can Make $1 Billion Revenue

Story Highlight
  • Stalker 2 has currently sold over a million units and recouped development costs.
  • The team believes it can eventually move past the $1 billion target.
  • This will be made possible through future DLC and releases on other platforms.

Stalker 2 has already been quite a success for GSC Game World. Despite a shaky development, the first-person shooter has recouped its development costs and has been nominated for various awards.

As per a recent interview, GSC Game World is only getting started. The team even believes highly ambitious targets are achievable, having faith that $1 billion in revenue with this release is a real possibility.

Why it matters: Very few AAA franchises are worth $1 billion today. The team’s confidence in such a huge milestone shows its faith in Stalker 2 and its determination to achieve great heights.

The GSC Game World owner Maksym Krippa was recently asked whether Stalker 2 could break past the $1 billion barrier. His response was certainly interesting, highlighting confidence in the team’s work.

We think we can meet, and even exceed, even the wildest of forecasts.

-Maksym Krippa

He noted that this is possible since Stalker 2 has yet to receive future DLC. As per Maksym Krippa, the game will be released on other platforms in the future, setting the stage for additional success.

The GSC Game World owner also hopes to work with Netflix on a Stalker 2 adaptation. With all of these things combined, he believes the game has a real shot of achieving the highest of targets, even if $1 billion sounds a bit far-fetched for now.

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl
Stalker 2 Puts Unreal Engine 5 To Good Use

Last month, Stalker 2 launched to solid reviews, but it was clear that the game needed more work. Fortunately, GSC Game World is already working on various patches, promising an even better experience in the coming months. This should help boost sales in the future.

Shroud Calls The Game Awards ‘Rigged’ After Black Myth: Wukong Not Winning GOTY

Story Highlight
  • Astro Bot was crowned Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024.
  • Due to that, Shroud claimed that TGA was rigged as he expected Black Myth: Wukong to win.
  • He previously stated that if Black Myth: Wukong doesn’t win GOTY, then the event is rigged, and he recently doubled down on that.

TGA was recently held, and it revealed a ton of surprises. While fans loved the overall show, many were disappointed that Astro Bot had taken home the most prestigious award.

Fans think that Black Myth: Wukong deserved the GOTY award, and it seems like one of the legendary streamers had a similar sentiment. Shroud, a renowned streamer, recently called The Game Awards ‘rigged’ because Black Myth: Wukong didn’t win the Game of the Year award.

Why it matters: Many expected the Chinese action RPG to win the award, but given how the critics treated it, it was pretty much a given that it wouldn’t.

Shroud Calls TGA Rigged

Michael Grzesiek, AKA Shroud, previously said that if Black Myth: Wukong doesn’t win GOTY, then TGA is rigged. So, given that the title didn’t win the GOTY award, Shroud doubles down on calling it rigged again

Many fans agree with the streamer, and some even went as far as saying that ‘Sony paid for this win.’ Fans were already pretty upset with the jury selection, so it might be fair for them to assume that there was some bias.

So, the failure of the Chinese action RPG to win GOTY has caused a major uproar in the industry. However, many are glad that Astro Bot won the award, as they claim it is ‘charming and creative.’

A lot of gamers think that the jury selection for GOTY selection isn’t the right answer as fans should have more say in the matter.

That said, the GOTY has already been crowned, so Wukong fans should make peace with it. Instead of criticising the title, it is better to play it and see the hype for yourself.

Geralt Might Be Playable In The Witcher 4, Game Director Teases

Story Highlight
  • The Witcher 4 game director, Sebastian Kalemba, says CDPR cannot say whether Geralt will be playable.
  • Some gamers have interpreted it as a tease, claiming that Geralt’s role might still be undecided.
  • CDPR might not be ready to reveal that he is playable right now, but take it with a grain of salt.

The Witcher 4 has become the talk of the town ever since the eventful reveal during TGA 2024. Some fans were surprised and upset by Ciri being the new protagonist. However, there may still be hope for those who miss playing as Geralt.

CD Projekt Red has recently given quite a hesitant response when asked whether Geralt would be playable, claiming that no answer can be given right now. It has led some gamers to interpret the words as a possibility.

Why it matters: The coy response implies that CDPR is currently undecided on whether Geralt will be playable. Or, they might not be willing to reveal that he is playable for now.

The Witcher 4
The Witcher 4 team knew that having Ciri as the protagonist would be controversial.

In an interview with Eurogamer, the game’s director, Sebastian Kalemba, said that Geralt is in Toussaint in Henrietta’s mansion. So, he will surely be present in The Witcher 4, and CDPR may still be considering Geralt’s exact role for The Witcher 4.

but we cannot tell you if it’s going to be playable or not right now. But yeah, he will appear. He’s going to be present in The Witcher 4.

As always, it’s best to take the reluctant response with a grain of salt, as it does not explicitly confirm or deny the possibility.

The Witcher 4 RTX 5090
The Witcher 4 trailer was reportedly rendered on the 32 GB RTX 5090 GPU.

The Witcher 4 is still a few years away, as it has barely entered full production. A PC-only release is being considered first—and devs might skip out on the Series S altogether because of hardware limits.

Do you think the coy response by CD Projekt Red means that we can play as Geralt in The Witcher 4, or is it reaching too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

Andrzej Sapkowski Not Involved In The Witcher 4 Development, But Approves It

Story Highlight
  • The creator of the Witcher series, Andrzej Sapkowski, is not involved in The Witcher 4 development in any way.
  • However, he approves of the work that the dev team is doing and trusts them greatly with the Witcher universe.
  • CDPR still meets with him from time to time to discuss things as he’s hands-off from the upcoming project.

Despite a strong lineup during the TGA 2024 event, The Witcher 4 arguably stole most of the spotlight with its new reveal trailer. However, not everyone was happy with the revelation that Ciri is now the protagonist moving forward.

Now, CDPR has revealed that the creator of the original book series, Andrzej Sapkowski, is not involved with The Witcher 4 in any way. But the studio has a great relationship with him.

Why it matters: The creator of the book series, Andrzej Sapkowski, not being involved with The Witcher 4 means that whatever CDPR makes of the RPG will be entirely their responsibility.

The Witcher 4
The Witcher 4’s map size and quest amount will be more or less the same as the last entry.

In an interview with Eurogamer, The Witcher 4 director Sebastian Kalemba clarified that Andrzej has had a hands-off approach to the project. The creator has great trust with the developer team when it comes to dealing with The Witcher story.

You know, he’s not [involved] in the form of a consultant or whatever, but we have a great relationship with him. So we meet with Andrzej Sapkowski from time to time, discuss things.

CDPR says it can perfectly reimagine the original series in a respectful and fun manner. The Witcher 4 narrative director, Philipp Weber, also defended Ciri being a protagonist by claiming Geralt called her a Witcher in the books too.

The Witcher 4 RTX 5090
The Witcher 4 trailer was seemingly rendered by the unannounced 32 GB RTX 5090 GPU.

All in all, no release date or window has been confirmed for the game, as it is quite early in its development. However, it is expected to launch on PC and consoles—while possibly skipping Series S because of hardware limitations.

Do you think Geralt’s removal as the protagonist from The Witcher 4 will pay off, or would it lead to another post-launch disaster? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
