Rainbow Six Siege 2 Reportedly In Development At Ubisoft

Story Highlight
  • A leak from an alleged Rainbow Six Siege 2 developer suggests the game has been in development for four years.
  • Ubisoft seems to be using the Snowdrop engine for the sequel.
  • The official reveal is expected at the Six Invitational 2025 in Boston.

A leaker who claims to be a developer on Rainbow Six Siege 2 has shared some interesting details about the game. According to the leaker, the title has been in development for over four years and is nearing completion.

Why it matters: Rainbow Six Siege has been around for nearly a whole decade. While the game remains a solid experience, there is demand for something new among fans.

While Ubisoft has yet to say anything, the development team reportedly began pulling members from the original Siege team gradually to start work on the sequel. They’re using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine, which is the same one used for XDefiant.

According to the leaker, the team switched engines because the original Siege had serious issues in its code, so they needed to start fresh. The sequel will also include a new anti-cheat system made by Ubisoft, which should make the players happy.

Ubisoft originally intended to reveal the sequel at the Six Invitational 2024 in Brazil. However, due to some development delays, they’ve pushed back the announcement to the Six Invitational 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts.

This event will also serve as the last Rainbow Six Siege Esports event before transitioning straight into the full release of Siege 2, similar to what Valve did for CS: GO before moving to CS2.

Rainbow Six Siege
Rainbow Six Siege is still going strong, averaging 70K players every day.

The leaker’s information surfaced as Ubisoft continues to back Rainbow Six Siege with updates and new content in its Year 9 plan, aiming to retain player interest. However, players have expressed concerns about the game’s outdated engine and the need for a fresh start.

Rainbow Six Siege 2 is seen as vital for revitalizing the franchise, especially since the original game, despite continuous updates, is starting to show its age. The leaker highlighted that nearly the entire team has now moved over to the new game, with only a small group still dedicated to the original Siege.

Recently, Ubisoft has found a lot of success with XDefiant in the free-to-play market. This may serve as motivation for the studio with Rainbow Six Siege 2, paving the path for another highly successful live-service shooter.

Long-term support for both IPs moving forward could lead to a major hold over the first-person shooter market for this publisher.

Concord Beta Fell Below 50 Players On Its Final Day

Story Highlight
  • The Concord beta launched to just over 1,000 players, which was disappointing.
  • The beta fell to just 50 users on its final day.
  • At this rate, the game is unlikely to be a huge release for PlayStation.

It’s no secret that Concord, an upcoming PlayStation-exclusive 5v5 shooter, is in a difficult spot. Many players have highly criticized the game and found it to be generic

There aren’t many who are excited about this release, as better ones are already available on the market. Reactions to the recent beta have also been underwhelming, with Concord peaking at about 1,200 Steam players.

Making matters worse, the beta’s Steam player count went as low as 50 users on the final day.

Why it matters: There are similar games to Concord that are available for free, so the $40 price tag and poor gameplay have been a major hurdle for PlayStation’s upcoming first-person shooter.

Concord Beta
Concord Beta Has Proven To Be Pretty Underwhelming | Source: SteamDB

On Steam, the beta currently has 15 users, but this player count already fell below 50 on the final day. The last beta on Steam was not free, but it seems the first-person shooter has been unable to retain the few thousand players it initially had.

Concord is also very close to its release. The game arrives in late August, giving it just over a month to convince players. For now, these efforts seem to have been in vain, with Steam players quickly abandoning the beta.

While the beta likely has a bigger audience on the PS5 due to the lack of pre-order restrictions, we expect a similar general trend of decreasing player counts on the PS5.

It seems the hero shooter lacks replayability, failing to keep players engaged in the PvP formula.

Concord
PlayStation Seems To Have Put A Lot Less Thought Than Usual In Its Upcoming 5v5 Shooter

Fans have criticized the game for its generic style and poor gunplay. Others disagree with the $40 price since this market already has many free-to-play options that are arguably much better.

Concord will also likely be full of microtransactions and battle passes by the time it releases. All in all, the situation does not look great for now. Another beta is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, giving everyone the chance to play the hero shooter.

However, PlayStation won’t make it available to every Steam region. According to Firewalk, the best parts of the game are yet to come, but this may not necessarily be enough.

GTA 6 Map Expected To Feature 3 Islands Apart From Main Leonida State

Story Highlights
  • GTA 6 is set to take place primarily in the state of Leonida.
  • The map is said to expand into Cuba and the Bahamas.
  • A third island is also expected, making the open world much bigger than GTA 5’s.

GTA 6 is said to be Rockstar’s most ambitious game, with the team striving to achieve a level of perfection never seen before. Despite the promises, much remains unknown about the title.

Rockstar has already confirmed that the game is set in Leonida. However, no GTA would be complete without plenty of extra content, and GTA 6 will be no different. According to leaks, Rockstar’s latest open-world is set to offer three separate islands.

Why it matters: After a 10-year wait, fans have sky-high expectations from Rockstar and GTA 6. Many want to see a huge upgrade to various elements, including the map itself.

GTA 6
GTA 6 Will Be Out By 2025

This information comes from multiple sources, with fans piecing together information.

For starters, the reliable Tyler McVicker has previously alluded to the inclusion of Cuba when asked about GTA 6. He also accurately revealed that the game would be based on Flordia, with the map extending into Cuba.

Elsewhere, another leaker suggested that the game would feature three islands. One of these will be inspired by the Bahamas, while the third’s identity is unknown as of now.

With the information combined, fans can expect to explore a huge map that offers much more than just Leonida. The leaker suggests GTA 6 won’t feature a map as big as everyone wants, but it will still be a major leap over Rockstar’s work in GTA 5.

According to the information, Rockstar is also aiming to make most buildings interactable this time. If true, this could certainly compensate for the map’s smaller-than-anticipated size.

GTA 6 is currently targeting a Fall 2025 release date.

While the game is still over a year away, excitement couldn’t be any higher. The first trailer recently reached 200 million views, making it a great time to revisit the footage as fans look forward to the next trailer from Rockstar and Take-Two.

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X Performs Nearly The Same As Ryzen 7 7800X3D

Story Highlight
  • AMD has confirmed new details about the Ryzen 9000 CPUs.
  • The Ryzen 7 9700X is said to be 12% faster than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in various gaming tests.
  • On the other hand, the chip is just 2% faster than the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

AMD has confirmed the launch of its Ryzen 9000 CPUs for the end of this month, July 31. However, the pricing has yet to be revealed. Four models will launch on this date, including the Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X.

The gaming giant has also shared new benchmarks for its CPUs. The highest-tier Ryzen 9 9950X has received Cinebench scores, while new information on the Ryzen 7 9700X performance has also been revealed.

Why it matters: The CPU seems disappointing, with barely any performance difference over the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

AMD Ryzen 7 9700X vs Ryzen 7 5800X3D
AMD Slides Detail The Efficiency of The Ryzen 7 9700X

AMD claims the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7 9700X CPU will be 12% faster than the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. It also claims that it has accomplished the feat of outperforming a 105W 3D V-Cache CPU with its 65W TDP CPU.

However, AMD didn’t tell us about the performance of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D compared to the Ryzen 7 9700X. This is because, during an event, it was revealed that the Ryzen 7 9700X is only 2% faster than the 7800X3D.

This tells us that the Ryzen 7 9700X is practically the same CPU but more efficient for a higher price.

AMD Ryzen 9000 vs Ryzen 7000 TDP
AMD Is Selling The Ryzen 9000 Series On Its Efficiency

According to a different slide, the business is attempting to pitch the AMD Ryzen 9000 on energy efficiency. They are experimenting with the TDP this time. In particular, the Ryzen 9000 series is more efficient than its predecessor.

However, that could also explain the small performance gains.

It is evident that Ryzen 7000 owners should not upgrade to the new generation. Perhaps Ryzen 5000 owners should be more inclined toward an upgrade since the Ryzen 9000 lineup seems like a major step up over that generation and is based on the AM5 platform.

Xbox Again Emphasizes Console No Longer Needed To Play Xbox

Story Highlight
  • Microsoft recently stated that players don’t need a console to play Xbox.
  • The company has emphasized this point again with an Amazon listing.
  • Amazon is offering a bundle with the Fire Stick, a controller, and Game Pass.

Last week was full of surprises for Xbox fans, as the company stated that players do not need to buy a console to enjoy Xbox.

Following that, it was reported that the company is already dialling down its console marketing in many regions, including Europe. The gaming giant seems to be driving home this point again, emphasizing that consoles are no longer needed.

Why it matters: Microsoft hardware hasn’t been doing great this generation. Therefore, moving away from it might help the company survive in the market.

Xbox Games Steaming Without Console
Xbox Streaming Bundle via Amazon

As seen above, Amazon is offering a bundle with the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, which makes a similar claim to the last advertisement.

Discover hundreds of high-quality games directly on your Fire Tv. No console required.

-Xbox

While the Fire TV Stick 4K Max can be combined with Game Pass Ultimate and an Xbox controller to access a huge library of games, it does not replace Microsoft’s console experience.

However, it seems the gaming giant really wants its fans to know that the actual Xbox is no longer as important as it used to be. Unlike Nintendo or PlayStation, which try to push their consoles at all opportunities, Microsoft seems to be doing the opposite.

Xbox
Xbox Came Into This Generation With Many Promises

Rumors have also pointed to various Xbox games heading to other platforms, further highlighting the declining importance of the Series S|X consoles. Currently, IPs like Halo and Gears of War are rumored to make the jump to rival platforms.

Following such divisive decisions, it remains to be seen what the company’s future holds.

Xbox seems to have its mind made up, with a huge focus on software over hardware. This is certainly a risky move, but it could also lead to a huge reward for the gaming giant if it ends up being successful.

Resident Evil 7 Is Another Failure on iPhone With 2,000 Purchases At Launch

Story Highlight
  • Various AAA games have been ported to iPhone recently, including Resident Evil 4 and Death Stranding.
  • These games performed poorly, and a report confirms that Resident Evil 7 has faced a similar fate.
  • The game seems to have generated less than $28,000 for Capcom in its first two weeks.

Mobile gaming is already very popular, as the market generates the most revenue in the industry. Recently, we saw a wave of AAA games coming to mobile, promising a new revolution for the market.

Publishers like Capcom and Ubisoft were among the first to show interest, bringing games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil 4 to the platform. However, a report confirmed that these titles failed to make a huge impact.

According to more updates, Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 has met a similar fate.

Why it matters: The statistics illustrate that there’s hardly any overlap between AAA and mobile gaming. Perhaps the mobile audience isn’t ready for AAA titles yet due to various reasons, including hardware limitations.

Death Stranding Is Currently Playable On Various Apple Devices

Capcom announced Resident Evil 7 for iOS on June 13. Although the demo was up for free, users had to pay $20 for the full version.

The full game arrived on July 2, and two weeks later, it has sold just 2000 copies on iOS. According to the latest report, Capcom made just $28,140 from this port. However, this figure does not include Apple’s 30% cut.

While the game has only been out for two weeks, the launch period is typically the most exciting for any new title. As such, it would be fair to dub Resident Evil 7 a failure on Apple’s iPhone 15 series.

Previously, the tech giant described its phones as the best gaming platform. Because the hardware cannot compete with dedicated home consoles and PCs, the user base seems to have been less enthusiastic about this approach.

Candy Crush Saga
Candy Crush Is One Of The Biggest Games On Mobile

On the other hand, dedicated mobile games like Candy Crush and Warzone Mobile continue to rake in millions of dollars. Therefore, the mobile market is clearly happy with certain types of games.

It remains to be seen how Apple will approach AAA gaming on iOS moving forward.

The iPhone 16 is coming soon, potentially delivering the same chip across all models. This could make it a great platform for another attempt at AAA releases, though Apple might not be too willing to try again after the recent results.

Sure Custom Keyboards Are Cool But My K95 Platinum Is Still Going Strong

Story Highlight
  • The Corsair K95 Platinum offers an incredible typing experience with its gold contact Cherry MX switches and a 1.2mm actuation distance for an instant response time with a crisp sound.
  • With its three onboard memory profiles, the keyboard offers decent customization capabilities, allowing users to change RGB modes and have a set of different macros as needed.
  • Perhaps the main highlight of the keyboard, its six dedicated macro keys, make the K95 Platinum perfect for video editors, graphic designers, and content writers.
  • The volume slider requires improvements and it stops working occasionally. Moreover, the keyboard isn’t recommended if you don’t have use for its macro keys as it’s too long.

When it comes to keyboards, I have always loved the idea of building a custom keyboard. However, my Corsair K95 Platinum is still going strong after over a year’s use. This keyboard has proven its worth time and again, making it a go-to recommendation for me. From its decent response time, three onboard memory profiles, and a clear sound, there’s not much to dislike about the keyboard.

A Typing Experience Like No Other

For me, typing experience matters more than most things a keyboard has to offer. The K95 Platinum is hard to beat in that area. To explain, the gold contact Cherry MX switches allow me to type quickly and accurately, letting me go above 120WPM easily. Additionally, the keyboard’s weight lets me put as much force as I require to type without fear of damaging any of the keys.

Moreover, the satisfying tactile feedback makes typing long articles a joy. Also, while playing games, the keys always respond with a crisp, consistent feel, that never fails to impress me.

Top-Notch Response Time

When it comes to competitive gaming, every millisecond counts, and the K95 Platinum hasn’t disappointed me once with its outstanding response time. The 1.2mm actuation distance ensures all of my keystrokes register instantly, giving me an edge in fast-paced games like League Of Legends.

Other than improving my typing accuracy and overall speed, I can’t compromise the level of responsiveness the K95 Platinum offers.

Diversity With Onboard Memory Profiles

Another aspect I love about the Corsair K95 Platinum keyboard is its three onboard memory profiles thanks to its 8MB storage. That means I can customize my keyboard however I please and change its profile with the click of a single button.

Depending on my use case scenario, I have two different profiles for when I’m working, or playing games, while the third is the default profile for when I’m browsing or practicing my typing. The customization includes changing the RGB lighting, different macros on the G1 to G6 keys, and changing the display, so you have a lot to play around with.

Making Work Easier With The Macro Keys

Corsair K95 Platinum Aesthetics

An impressive feature of the K95 Platinum is its six macro keys attached at the left side, increasing the keyboard’s overall length. While macros are illegal in most games, many games like Guild Wars 2 benefit from these shortcuts as long as you’re not getting an unfair advantage.

I have set up my G1 to G6 macros mainly for work purposes; with my G1 being a shortcut for Ctrl + A, G2 for Ctrl + B, G3 for Ctrl + C, and G5 and G6 for my most-used WordPress codes. These shortcuts improve my productivity immensely.

On the one hand, I love the keyboard’s features, but on the other hand, I don’t recommend buying the K95 Platinum if you’re not going to use its six macro keys daily because it’s an extremely long keyboard.

If you want something with similar performance without the macro keys, I recommend buying the Corsair K70 Core RGB. Not only is it more affordable, but it also provides a similar feel and touch to the K95 Platinum.

Issues With The Volume Slider

Corsair K95 Platinum Volume Slider
The volume slider of the Corsair K95 Platinum. (Image by Tech4Gamers)

Although the keyboard is outstanding and competes with many others within the same price range, I dislike its volume slider for multiple reasons. For starters, the slider doesn’t have a good feel to it. Moreover, after a year’s usage, my volume slider has already stopped working.

No matter how much I move the slider, the volume’s level only changes by one or two points. So, if you’re excited to use a volume slider, the Corsair K95 Platinum may not be an ideal keyboard. However, it’s a minor issue that is far outweighed by the keyboard’s incredible strengths.

Other Features And Issues

The main reason why my Corsair K95 Platinum is still going strong is because of its countless features. Here are a few more features and some issues I must address:

  • The keyboard comes with a USB pass-through, meaning, that it has two cables. If you want to connect your headphones directly to the keyboard, you will have to connect both cables of the keyboard to your PC.
  • The aluminum frame gives the keyboard a light yet robust feel to it.
  • The K95 Platinum comes with a magnetic wristrest with two grips. Flip the wristrest upside down to use the grip that you’re most comfortable with.
  • Although the USB pass-through is a nice feature, the space given at the keyboard’s base is too narrow for many headphone cables to pass through, making it annoying to manage the cables.

Why The K95 Platinum Is Still My Go-To

Despite the rising popularity of custom keyboards, my Corsair K95 Platinum is still going strong because of its excellent build quality, impressive response times, decent macro keys, crisp sound, and other additional features.

While it might be an expensive mechanical keyboard, if you have the required use case for it, you won’t want to shift to another keyboard for quite a while.

Why You Shouldn’t Overclock Your X3D CPU

Story Highlight
  • Overclocking your X3D CPU requires a top-of-the-line motherboard, which burdens your wallet heavily.
  • Overclocking your X3D CPU will require more power, resulting in excessive heat and voltage that can damage the CPU.
  • Overclocking your X3D CPU will void any warranty that it comes with.

It’s always nice to squeeze a little more performance out of your computer. Also, in order to do that, overclocking is the way to go forward. You can overclock pretty much any graphics card or memory module out there. However, regarding the CPU, there are some exceptions on both sides (Intel & AMD).

What it means is that not all processors can be overclocked, like the X3D CPUs from AMD. Sure, there are some ways to do it, but for a casual guy, it might not be feasible.

X3D CPUs from AMD

X3D CPUs have been a game changer for AMD; they gained popularity so quickly due to their X3D technology, which helps in outputting exceptional gaming performance. As it’s known, Ryzen CPUs have always been overclockable, but this changed with X3D CPUs.

The X3D CPUs use 3D V-Cache technology, which requires sacrifices in clock speed and the ability to overclock. AMD added an extra slab of L3 cache die on top of the stock L3 cache. Besides that, to uniformly place the IHS over the die, AMD added two structural silicon spacers on both sides to make it even.

What happens now is that heat dissipation is more restricted than before, and due to the addition of an extra L3 cache, the processor is prone to consuming more power as well. Similarly, to maintain the lower TDP, AMD slashed base clock speeds and locked these CPUs, whether it’s the Ryzen 7 5800X3D or Ryzen 9 7900X3D.

Why You Should Not Overclock Yours

I can tell you a few reasons why you should stick to using your X3D CPU with stock settings instead of opting for risk.

Need For an Expensive Motherboard

Overclocking these locked X3D chips, especially if you have one from the 7000 series, can be rather expensive. Since these X3D chips are locked, so you can’t directly overclock them using direct voltage adjustment or CPU multiplier.

MSI MPG X670E Carbon WiFi - Motherboard (Image credit: Tech4Gamers)
MSI MPG X670E Carbon WiFi – Motherboard (Image credit: Tech4Gamers)

In other words, you have to rely on PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) and AMD’s Curve Optimizer. On top of these two, your motherboard should have an external clock generator to overclock the X3D CPU.

An overclocker named SkatterBencher managed to overclock his Ryzen 7 7800X3D to 5.4GHz using PBO, AMD’s Curve Optimizer as well as the external clock generator. He used ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero to achieve that clock speed

Ryzen 7 7800X3D OC (Image credit: SkatterBencher)
Ryzen 7 7800X3D OC (Image credit: SkatterBencher)

Such motherboards are too expensive, and the performance gain doesn’t look worth the extra investment to me personally so it’s better to invest in some other component rather than doing the above.

Overvolting Could Damage the CPU

To overclock any component, we have to feed more power into it. But don’t forget, that allowing too much power could damage the component too. The same is the case with X3D CPUs, they are locked at a specific voltage for a reason, and allowing it to take too much power can easily damage the CPU die.

Ultimately ends up killing the processor for good. Now that’s something you wouldn’t want. So it’s better to stick to the stock settings instead, especially if you’re on the 5000 series X3D CPU. Simply because that series has no support for features like PBO or AMD’s Curve Optimizer.

You Would Lose the Warranty

Ryzen 7 7800X3D Close Up
Ryzen 7 7800X3D (Image By Tech4Gamers)

As the X3D processors are locked by default for their longevity and smooth operation, messing around with stuff to bypass those limitations will definitely result in voiding the warranty.

This implies that if you end up killing the processor in the process, you’re on your own, even if the warranty period isn’t over. So, if you’re rocking something like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Ryzen 9 7950X3D, the loss is going to be heavy and not worth risking for the sake of a few more frames.

Stock Settings are Better & Safe

With so much risk involved as well as the requisite for expensive motherboards. I don’t see logic in proceeding further to overclock these locked chips. Moreover, the next generation of AMD X3D processors is rumored to feature full overclocking support.

Therefore, it would be much wiser to use your current X3D CPU at stock settings and save up for the upcoming series that natively supports what you’re looking for.

Why You Might Want To Keep An Eye Out For Mini PCs

Story Highlight
  • Nowadays, Mini PCs have become relatively affordable and are sufficiently outfitted with competent CPUs and GPUs.
  • Mini PCs’ manufacturers have stepped up their game by launching uniquely aesthetic designs with competitive price tags to match.
  • You can lug around your Mini PCs for travel purposes thanks to their portability and enjoy gaming on the go as long as you have a power socket.

Welcome back to another rant about my love for Mini PCs.

It’s 2024, and the era where the average gamer would bash Mini PCs for their lack of gaming prowess, ability to handle heat dissipation in an efficient manner, and ludicrous pricing schemes, to name a few, are long gone.

You want to run your favourite games in 1080p and even 1440p?

Perhaps you don’t want to be crippled by a limited selection of I/O ports?

Or maybe you’re concerned about upgradability?

Worry not. Simply allow me to convince you to look out for a Mini PC as your next purchase.

But first, let’s have a look at the issues that prevented the earlier Mini PCs from succeeding in their niche.

The Initial Problems

If you dove into the market to find prospective options for Mini PCs about 5 years ago, you would certainly encounter a few key problems.

To begin with, the Mini PCs of yesteryears were detrimentally underpowered and under-specced as compared to their fellow full-sized Desktop PCs.

Those antique Mini PCs would inherently struggle to maintain satisfactory CPU and GPU temperatures thanks to their miniature designs and closed enclosures.

This would cause your system to consistently thermal throttle and therefore, reduce the performance output.

Let’s also not forget the absolutely abysmal pricing tactics manufacturers would employ to extort money in the name of Mini PCs.

But that’s all in the past. What do today’s Mini PCs have in store for you and I?

Mini PCs: Putting Their Money Where Their Mouth Is

For you, I’ve got two worthy contenders who have been subjected to strenuous in-house benchmarks and tests along with a thorough overall review, collectively speaking.

Of course, I’m talking about the Blackview MP80 Mini PC and Beelink SER8.

Blackview MP80 Intel N97 Mini PC

First off, the Blackview MP80 Mini PC packs an Intel N97 (4-core, 4-thread) SoC that also includes the Intel UHD 730 integrated GPU (iGPU) for an all-in-one solution, along with 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM and a 512 GB M.2 SSD (which performs similarly to a SATA SSD).

Moving on, the Blackview MP80 also boasts Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi 5, which are slightly outdated, but hey, it’s better than nothing.

Furthermore, the MP80 Mini PC also offers you a 3.5mm auxiliary jack, a pair of RJ45 Gigabyte Ethernet ports, a trio of USB 3.0 connections, and three HDMI ports that support graphical output of 4K @60 FPS for your multiple-monitor setup.

USB 3.0 Connectors
3x USB 3.0 Ports. (Image by Tech4Gamers)

The best part? You can get the Blackview MP80 Mini PC for $170-$200, even though it carries an MSRP of $300.

Beelink SER8 AMD Ryzen 7 Mini PC

Maybe the Blackview MP80’s power isn’t enough to suit your intensive needs.

That’s where the Beelink SER8 steps in with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU (8-core, 16-thread), a Radeon 780M iGPU, 32 GB (16×2) of (upgradeable) 5600 MHz DDR5 SODIMM RAM, a 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD from Crucial along with an additional empty slot, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port.

I wasn’t finished. The Beelink SER8 also manages to incorporate a 40 Gbps USB 4 connection, a USB 3.2 Type-C port, a pair of USB 3.2 Type-A connectors, and a duo of USB 2.0 ports, but what takes the cake is the inclusion of an HDMI 2.1 port and a DisplayPort 1.4.

That’s because when combined with the latter two ports, the Beelink SER8 can push a triple display setup in 4K @120 Hz.

SSD Speed (Image By Tech4Gamers)

Understandably, the Beelink SER8 AMD Ryzen 7 Mini PC with its top-tier specs usually retails for about $650, $100 off its $750 MSRP.

Mini PCs: Worth Your Hard-Earned Money Or Not?

Depending on your budget and power requirements, you can find a competent Mini PC for as little as $150, all the way up to $650 at the top end of the spectrum.

Regardless, if you go with any of the variants of the two Mini PCs I’ve mentioned above, I think you’ll be good to go for the next couple of years.

Let’s not forget that you can definitely game immediately with these Mini PCs, especially the Beelink SER8 with its Radeon 780M iGPU.

All in all, Mini PCs in 2024 are giving full-sized Desktop PCs a run for their money, quite literally, and you should take advantage of it before its too late.

Gears of War: E-Day Job Listing Points To PlayStation Release

Story Highlight
  • The Coalition is currently hiring for work on Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer.
  • One job listing from the studio asks for experience with work on the PlayStation Network.
  • This may be an early sign of the game going multiplatform at release or later down the line.

Gears of War: E-Day is currently set to be one of Xbox’s biggest first-party releases this generation. Possibly coming as early as next year, this prequel has already created palpable excitement after its first trailer.

However, a job listing hints that Xbox fans may not be the only ones to experience the brutality of Emergence Day. As spotted by CindieStarLight on the Tech4Gamers forums, Xbox seems to be planning to launch Gears of War: E-Day on the PS5.

Why it matters: The Gears of War franchise has been a pillar of Microsoft’s first-party lineup since the Xbox 360 days.

Gears of War: E-Day Multiplatform PS5
Gears of War: E-Day Could Be A Huge PS5 Release | Image via Tech4Gamers Forums

According to the job listing, The Coalition is looking to hire a developer with various qualifications. One of these mentions the PlayStation Network.

Experience with Xbox Live, PSN, Steam.

-The Coalition

Like every other Xbox title, Gears of War: E-Day is coming to Steam. In fact, it already has a store page on the platform. However, the studio explicitly mentioning PSN in the preferred qualifications is interesting.

It’s no secret that Microsoft has gone all in on third-party releases recently. Phil Spencer has even confirmed that more titles will go on rival platforms in the future after announcing Doom: The Dark Ages for the PS5.

If IPs as big as Doom are heading to rival hardware, similar treatment for Gears of War is not out of the question. Rumors also suggest something similar could happen to Halo eventually.

One could argue that the job listing points to PSN as an alternative rather than a platform to work on. However, The Coalition could have gotten the same point across without pointing to PSN.

This gives the job listing more weight, but nothing is set in stone for now.

Whatever ends up happening, Microsoft still has plenty of time to consider its third-party approach.

It’s also possible that Gears of War: E-Day will be a timed exclusive to Xbox consoles, with Microsoft already planning a launch for PS5 a few months or one year after the official Xbox launch.

Xbox Fans Want To See More Backward Compatible Games In Future

Story Highlight
  • Xbox fans’ desire for backward compatibility is driven by Sony’s reported work on PS3 backward compatibility for PS5.
  • Preserving older games is increasingly important as physical game media becomes less common.
  • Fans want even more games to be added, especially from studios acquired by Microsoft, like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard.

The Xbox community is very vocal about their desire for more backward-compatible games. They’re urging Microsoft to focus on keeping old games playable, which gained attention after a tweet asked Xbox fans to speak up.

This shows many gamers miss playing their favorite classics from earlier Xbox consoles. Also, Sony is reportedly working on PS3 backward compatibility for PS5, and Xbox fans want the same for their console.

Why it matters: Preserving gaming’s cultural treasures grows more crucial in the modern age now that companies are moving toward a digital-only age.

The Xbox 360 Had Great Exclusive Titles

Xbox has a strong history of making old games playable on newer consoles, offering over 700 titles from the original Xbox and Xbox 360.

However, fans believe there’s room for even more, especially since Microsoft acquired big studios like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard. These acquisitions could mean more games becoming available that were once stuck due to licensing problems.

Fans eagerly request several well-known franchises and cult classics to become backward compatible. Games like the Max Payne series, F.E.A.R. franchise, and Skate 2 have already been made backward compatible.

However, the community is still pushing for more beloved titles. For instance, Blur is highly desired, but it involves renegotiating licenses for real cars, which complicates its addition. Similarly, the Tony Hawk series is facing challenges due to licensing issues with music and athletes.

Moreover, fans demand some popular Xbox 360 games to be backward compatible with Series X/S. Some of the most demanded games include Armored Core V and X-Men: Origins Wolverine.

X-Men: Origins would have been awesome on Series X/S.

The good news is that Microsoft is doubling down on future backward compatibility with a new team dedicated to preserving games.

President Sarah Bond has underscored this effort, emphasizing Microsoft’s commitment to expanding and maintaining its vast game collection. This initiative reinforces Microsoft’s leadership in the industry’s push for game preservation.

More details on these efforts are anticipated at upcoming Xbox events, where Microsoft may unveil new additions to the backward compatibility program and advancements in making classic games playable on future consoles.

Expanding the backward compatibility program holds great promise, especially with Microsoft’s increased internal resources. Adding more games to the backward compatibility program will show Microsoft’s solid investment in console players.
