Director Alexander Karpazis believes that the game still has a lot of life in it, and it won’t die anytime soon.

Why it matters: Various games have tried to pivot to a new direction instead of continuing current success. Overwatch 2 is a popular example, but this title has been met with a lot of backlash.

Rainbow Six director Alexander Karpazis discussed the game’s future at an esports event in Brazil. He commended the game engine and also reflected on how the game has gained more popularity as it has aged.

Talking to PCGamer, Karpazis stated that Ubisoft constantly improves its content delivery. Because of the team’s experience and work with the first-person shooter, they are uninterested in a sequel or shift to new technology.

Meanwhile, Rainbow Six Siege can compete with the likes of Apex Legends, Valorant, and more. Therefore, the director seems content with just supporting the game for now instead of worrying about a successor.

Alexander Karpazis pointed to various games that suffered because such a shift requires new foundations. Therefore, Rainbow Six Siege appears to be set to continue for many more years.

Over nine years later, the game has evolved substantially, yet its dedicated community remains hooked on the concept, making it one of the most popular competitive shooters out there.
