AI can act as a dynamic and adaptive game master, creating real-time evolving narratives.
AI driven NPCs enhance immersion by remembering past interactions and adapting their personalities.
AI powered world building generates rich, evolving game settings with minimal human input.
AI GMs can personalize player experiences by tailoring story arcs based on their decisions and playstyles.
In the world of immersive storytelling tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) have been a major cornerstone. These kinds of games allow players to craft their unique adventure under the guidance of a Game Master (GM).
Traditionally the game master plays a vital role by shaping the games narrative, managing gameplay mechanics and improvising based upon player actions. With advancements in artificial intelligence, AI driven game masters such as Shari are becoming a viable option for developers trying to offer something fresh.
The Role of AI in Game Mastering
Ai can revolutionize the role of a Game Master by handling multiple tasks simultaneously that would usually require extensive human input. One of the best things an AI Game Master can offer is the ability to create compelling narratives on the spot.
An AI GM can dynamically change the plot of a game based on player choices instead of relying on pre-written scripts and static storylines. What this essentially means is that every playthrough will feel unique to the player as the AI will adapt to the players preferences and play style.
AI-Driven NPC Interactions
Another critical aspect that an AI Game Master can handle is interactions with non-playable characters (NPCs). In traditional Tabletop RPGs, a human GM must voice and act out various NPCs to suit the narrative.
Talking NPCs Created With AI – Image Credits (Pinterest)
AI NPCs powered by natural language processing and machine learning such as NVIDIA’s AI NPCs can provide realistic and varied dialogue and different personalities. These NPCs can remember past interactions, adapt to player choice and can even form relationships over time, enhancing immersion and roleplay depth.
Automating Game Mechanics
Beyond storytelling and managing NPCs, AI can also streamline gameplay mechanics. A GM is responsible for enforcing rules, tracking stats, and resolving dice rolls which can sometimes slow down gameplay.
AI can handle all of these elements simultaneously; this ensures that the game runs smoothly without any human error. It can calculate probabilities, resolve conflicts and give real-time feedback to player actions. This will streamline the game testing process and overall gameplay mechanics.
AI and Automated World-Building
One other area where AI can excel is AI automated world building. Traditionally GMs spend hours creating intricate maps, cities and dungeons to populate their worlds. AI can instantly generate detailed and expansive settings full of lore, side quests and interactive elements.
Zephon Worldbuilding – Image Credits [Alphabetagamer]These environments can evolve dynamically, responding to player actions and alter according to in game actions taken by players. This ensures that the world feels alive and dynamic rather than static.
Seamless Online Integration and Voice Synthesis
For players that prefer to play remotely, AI GMs can offer seamless online integration. Many TTRPGs require in-person gatherings which can be hard to organize. AI-driven systems can manage virtual sessions, automate combat scenarios and much more making sure that the pacing runs smoothly. By handling the administrative aspects of the game AI allows players to focus more on the story and gameplay.
Nvidia NPC AI Demo – Image Credits [Toms Guide]Additionally, AI powered voice synthesis and chat bots also bring the game to life. Instead of reading text from pre-written text prompts AI driven GMs can generate realistic voice responses. This allows for players to engage in realistic communication with NPCs and it all feels fluid and spontaneous rather than preprogrammed and rigid.
Challenges and Limitations
Despite its many upsides AI driven Game Mastering does present some challenges and limitations. One of the biggest issues is the lack of human creativity and emotional depth. While AI can surely create some very compelling storylines, it falls short when it comes to enacting emotions. A human GM can read the room, adjust pacing and provide better deeply personalized storytelling that AI might fail to replicate.
Moreover, the ethical concerns regarding AI that collects personal data based on user actions and behavior must be handled responsibly. There should be strict rules to ensure data privacy and there should be transparency regarding the use of gathered data.
As technology continues to evolve, its integration into TTRPGs will become more sophisticated. Future AI GMs may leverage deep learning to refine their storytelling capabilities allowing for more emotionally compelling stories.

Story Highlight
Nvidia’s xx60 Series GPUs are well-known for topping Steam’s Hardware Surveys on a consistent basis.
Even though the RTX 4060 and RTX 5060 are noticeably less appealing than its outgoing predecessors, the former has proven that brand loyalty comes first.
Give the RTX 5060 a year or two and you’ll likely see it within the Top 3 ranks despite its insignificant YoY improvements.
Let’s be real: Even if AMD manages to outperform Nvidia in a certain segment of the GPU market, buyers will still probably show a tendency to purchase Nvidia GPUs.
That is exactly why I think you will probably see the RTX 5060 as one of Steam’s Top 3 most-used GPUs within the next couple of years—not because it’s the best GPU for the money, but because Nvidia has perfected the art of mindshare dominance.
History doesn’t lie. The GTX 960, GTX 1060, RTX 2060, RTX 3060, and RTX 4060 have all, at some point, sat comfortably in Steam’s Top 3 most popular GPUs.
And guess what? The RTX 5060 will probably follow the same script, even if it’s overpriced, power-hungry, and barely faster than its predecessor.
Why? Because Nvidia has turned GPU releases into a cult following, and AMD—despite its best efforts—still seems somewhat unable to break the spell.
The Unstoppable “60” Series Curse
Nvidia’s xx60 cards are like the iPhone SE of GPUs—not the best, but just good enough to sell hundreds of thousands.
GTX 1060 (2016): The undisputed king, still lingering in Steam’s Top 10 almost nine years later.
RTX 2060 (2019): Survived the crypto boom and still a staple in mid-range builds.
RTX 3060 (2021): The “budget” Ampere card that somehow became a scalper’s dream.
The RTX 3060 and RTX 2060 can be seen sharing the Top 3 spots with the GTX 1060 hot on their heels back in 2023: Q3. (Image Credits – Valve)
The pattern is clear: Gamers are more likely to lean towards whatever GPU Nvidia slaps a “60” on, even if it’s not as stellar a deal as the good old stalwarts like the GTX 1060 and RTX 3060 in particular were.
The RTX 5060 will barely run path tracing at 30 FPS, but Nvidia will market it like it’s the second coming of Christ—and maybe some people will believe it.
That said, the RTX 5060 is a perfectly viable card for 1080p gaming and even 1440p gaming if you limit the FPS to a count of 60 and turn down the settings a notch.
“Just Works” Bias
Ask any PC builder: Nvidia drivers “just work.” AMD has improved drastically, but the stigma remains.
The average gamer doesn’t want to troubleshoot—they want to plug in a GPU and forget about it. However, the irony is that Nvidia has been in hot water recently regarding its driver instability issues, but hey, the market forces still love Nvidia.
That’s because up till the RTX 30 Series, Nvidia had a rich history in its favour, but one must ask how long that reputation can withstand amidst the turmoil Team Green currently finds itself in.
Scalpers, AIBs, And The Illusion Of Demand
Let’s not pretend the RTX 5060 won’t see stock issues in the next few weeks. The RTX 3060 was selling for more than double its MSRP during the pandemic, and people still bought it.Why? Perhaps partially because FOMO is stronger than common sense, but also because the RTX 3060 saw the peak of the mining craze which led cryptominers to buy Nvidia’s Ampere GPUs in hordes.
Furthermore, Nvidia’s board partners (ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte) are notorious for releasing about 10 different overpriced “OC” models, further inflating the perceived value.Meanwhile, AMD’s reference designs will sit on shelves, relatively ignored.
The Steam Survey Doesn’t Reward Value—It Rewards Volume
The Steam Hardware Survey isn’t a measure of what’s best—it’s a measure of what’s most common. And Nvidia has spent decades ensuring their GPUs are the default choice for:
Prebuilt PCs (Major OEMs like Dell, HP, and Lenovo usually default to Nvidia)
Laptops (RTX 5060M will likely dominate gaming notebooks just like its predecessors)
Casual gamers (who just buy whatever their friends recommend)
Even if the RTX 5060 is objectively worse than an RX 7700 XT, it’ll still outsell it 3:1—because Nvidia owns the market’s brainspace.
Then again, most people buying a RTX 5060 won’t be pushing it to the limit. Maybe they’ll just want it for 1080p gaming at medium to high settings, and of course, the RTX 5060 won’t break any sweats in doing that.
It’s Inevitable
I’m not saying the RTX 5060 deserves to be a best-seller. But history, marketing, and gamer psychology all point to one thing: It will be.
AMD could drop a miracle GPU at the same price, but most gamers would still pick Team Green because Nvidia has been the king of gaming during the late 2000s and the entirety of 2010s, which is why gamers tend to lean towards familiarity when they drop a couple hundred bucks on a graphics card.
The RTX 4060 managed to get ahead of the RTX 3060 in February 2025’s survey before losing out again in March’s survey. (Image Credits – Valve)
So when the RTX 5060 inevitably cracks Steam’s Top 3 within the next year or two, don’t be surprised. Be disappointed—but not surprised.

How Is It Different?
The Epomaker Click Mouse differentiates itself from other gaming mice that heavily depend on flashy design and extravagant RGB lighting by adopting a no-nonsense design approach that reflects Epomaker’s expertise in keyboard design. It features an 8K polling rate accompanying the PAW3950 sensor, which is almost unmatched at this price point.
Generally, competitors fixate on providing unnecessary features. Instead, Epomaker has only included features that truly matter, including accurate tracking, versatile connectivity, and a user-friendly software interface that does not overcomplicate the experience. Moreover, it emphasizes ergonomic design, solid build quality, and exceptional performance.
Packaging & Unboxing

Box Backside
The box’s minimalist design reflects the product’s simplicity, and the packaging is straightforward. Everything inside the box is neatly organized, as you would expect. The mouse has been placed inside a custom plastic sleeve to avoid unintended damage during shipping. Alongside it, there’s a USB-A to C braided cable that feels much better than those flimsy ones you sometimes get, a 2.4GHz dongle, a handy manual, and grip tapes that allow you to customise the mouse’s feel.

Design
The Epomaker Click Mouse has a pleasingly simple design, and the shape strikes a neat balance. Its smooth curves provide a polished look, making it visually appealing. Ergonomics-wise, this mouse is one of the best I have used. Whether I use a claw grip, a fingertip grip, or even a palm grip, the mouse rests comfortably in my hand. Ideally, it is perfect for those who prefer a hybrid grip.
Different Grip Styles

Furthermore, its weight is perfectly distributed, feeling light enough to allow for swift movements while maintaining a grounded feel when held. I especially admire the button grooves, which have been designed to effortlessly guide the fingers, accommodating them to the primary clicks, which reduces the chances of clicks being misfires.
Build Quality
Build Quality
Since it’s made from durable plastic, Epomaker ensures adequate quality by making its mouse sturdy enough to withstand the daily wear and tear of gaming, while also resisting creaking or bending, even when squeezed tightly. In my opinion, the Click Mouse strikes a good balance between the two extremes, as it feels sufficiently durable. Yet, it is quite light enough, at 58g.
Moreover, the mouse’s surface cover is smooth and somewhat resistant to fingerprints, providing a clean feel while offering a gentle grip that prevents slippage. Most importantly, the layer seems protective, helping keep it safe from scratches and scuffs. I’m not sure if this will hold in the long run, but given the materials used in this mouse, it may retain its original appearance for some time.
Buttons
Primary Buttons
Epomaker has used the Omron D2LS mechanical switches for the primary buttons, and these switches are rated for 20 million clicks. It indicates that they are built to last and will accompany you for a long time. They are ideal for rapid-fire inputs since they feel light and swift. If you are a gamer who plays fast-paced FPS or MOBA titles. You’ll know exactly how important it is for a mouse to have buttons that respond quickly without getting mushy.
Although the Click Mouse’s clicks aren’t as clear or pleasant as those of some of the best gaming mice, it still performs admirably in that aspect. On the downside, the primary buttons have some wobbling, which causes the buttons to move a little when you push them from their sides. Still, it’s not a deal breaker.
Side Buttons
Thanks to their distinctive textured ridge, side buttons are easy to locate and press without unintentionally pressing the wrong one. They stand out from the rest and are more distinguishable. It seems natural, as you don’t need to think twice about where your fingertips are resting. You can easily assign several actions to it and perform effortlessly.
Scroll Wheel
Regarding the scroll wheel, I have mixed opinions about it. On the one hand, it feels great to use due to its sturdiness and mechanical-like feel. It balances being stiff and flexible for regular tasks like web browsing and document scrolling. However, it could be easier to spam, particularly for players who rely on scroll inputs in their playstyle. This might be a minor drawback if you frequently use the scroll wheel. Even though it’s not one of the best I’ve ever used, it still works well enough in most situations.
Battery Life
Although its battery life isn’t very impressive, the Epomaker Click Mouse does get the job done. As expected, it doesn’t last weeks like many of the more expensive mice on the market. Still, the 500mAh battery inside will be more than adequate for most gamers. Throughout the many weeks of testing, I pushed this to its limits by playing games for long periods, continuously using the mouse at an 8K polling rate.
Thankfully, it usually lasted three to four days before requiring a recharge. It’s also easy to charge. The USB-C braided cable with the mouse is of great quality, which is appreciated since many mice include cheap, fragile wires. It also doesn’t take much time to charge up. Your battery would last for several hours even after a short 30-minute charge. On the other hand, after charging it completely, you can use it freely for several days.
Connectivity
USB-C Port
The Epomaker Click Mouse covers all the bases when it comes to connectivity. It offers three solid options: a steady 2.4GHz wireless mode, Bluetooth, and wired through a USB A to C cable. In 2.4GHz wireless mode, the mouse delivers a stable, lag-free connection. This connection is highly reliable, which is very important during competitive gaming.
Switching over to Bluetooth adds further flexibility, which is helpful if you want to use the mouse with other devices like your laptop. Connecting to Bluetooth was easy. It doesn’t have the same responsiveness as the 2.4GHz mode, but it works adequately. Of course, wired mode is also an option. Simply plug in the USB A to C cable, and you’re good to go.
Software

Macro Settings
Regarding software, Epomaker HUB is straightforward and uncomplicated, performing as expected. The software enables you to control almost everything, allowing you to customize your mouse by adjusting the DPI, remapping buttons, setting up macros, and adjusting RGB lighting. It features a clean and straightforward interface, making it easier to find the desired settings.
That said, there are some downsides to it. For instance, going through different settings can be somewhat irritating and sometimes cause lag. This is not to say it is bad, but rather that it could be improved. The same goes for the customization range. Although it is basic compared to most high-end software. Yet, it effectively covers all the basics without making them too complicated.
Performance
The PAW3950 powers the sensor on the Epomaker Click Mouse. Its DPI can be customized anywhere between 800 and 42,000. Even though it is a bit overkill, its 8K polling rate does help capture the mouse’s minimal movements by tracking them with extreme accuracy and precision. This is uncommon for other brands, which mostly only provide a 1000Hz polling rate option.
In addition to its basic functions, the mouse has extra features that enhance its performance. For instance, the adjustable lift-off distance (LOD) enables users to have complete control over when the sensor stops tracking. During my gaming tests, the Epomaker Click Mouse met my expectations. I tried several FPS games like Valorant, and it did not let me down.
The mouse rarely struggles at all during rapid changes in my aim. Every movement was recorded smoothly, quick, and stable. Additionally, tracking performance was also accurate when I used a sniper in various games. There was no bothersome stutter or lag that interrupted my gameplay. Moreover, its responsiveness makes it a joy to use. Thankfully, there was no erratic behavior throughout my numerous gaming sessions.
Should You Buy It or Not?
Buy it if
✅ You need solid performance: The Epomaker Click Mouse’s minimalist aesthetic design and outstanding PAW3950 sensor deliver precise tracking and responsiveness.
✅ You prefer various connectivity options: With wired, 2.4GHz wireless, and Bluetooth modes, it connects and switches between your desktop and laptop effortlessly.
✅ You need comfort: Its balanced weight distribution and thoughtfully designed button grooves help reduce fatigue during long sessions.
Don’t buy it if
❌ You’re picky about software: While the Epomaker HUB software covers all the basics, it still has a few quirks that might bother users expecting a flawless customization experience.
❌ You require long-lasting battery: The 500mAh battery generally lasts only 3 to 4 days with heavy use and a high polling rate.
Final Verdict
After testing the Epomaker Click Mouse for several weeks, it left a great impression on me. Its outstanding performance, lightweight design, smooth tracking, and responsiveness are among its upsides, and it excels in almost every aspect. Considering competitors, Epomaker maintains its position by offering a simple, minimalist, and no-nonsense design that doesn’t compromise on quality and performance. Many high-end mouse manufacturers add unnecessary frills, mostly gimmicks and extras.
Although this mouse isn’t flashy like them, it offers an unbeatable balance of features for its price. The mouse is priced adequately, considering the PAW3950 sensor, high-quality mechanical switches, and adequate customizable options, which make it feel like a higher-end product. While it could benefit from minor software tweaks and improved button feedback, the Click Mouse performs impressively in almost every other aspect. So, would I recommend it? Absolutely yes

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 received a lot of positive reception from the fandom and critics on launch.
It has been three months since the game was released, and it seems like the hype is still not over. KCD2 has reached yet another amazing milestone; it has now sold over three million copies worldwide.
Why it matters: It took one year for Kingdom Come: Deliverance to cross the two million sales mark, so it is good to see its sequel performing extremely well.
Warhorse Studios Recently Announced That KCD2 Has Managed To Sell 3 Million Copies Already | Source: Twitter/X
Just recently, Warhorse Studios revealed on X that KCD2 has sold 3 million copies in just three months, and its predecessor has sold over 10 million copies up to date. Both numbers are great and are bound to increase even more.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has attracted many new gamers as well, who seem to like the game so much that they decided to play the prequel. You actually don’t have to play the prequel in order to understand KCD2’s story, and the game gives you flashbacks to help you understand the complicated encounters.
KCD2 Managed To Recoup Its Budget Just A Day After Its Release.
Still, the players decided to give its prequel a try. While KCD2 has sold three million copies insanely fast, it may take it a while to reach 10 million sales, as its predecessor reached this milestone in around seven years.
What do you think about this incredible milestone? Do you think the sales will continue increasing at this pace? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers forums.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has hit a new peak of 129K concurrent players on Steam.
This comes 10 days after the game’s initial release, showcasing its very strong legs.
The JRPG has sold a million copies so far, performing well on both PC and console.
Role-playing games are running the industry right now, with the biggest releases of 2025 belonging to some niche of the genre. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Oblivion Remastered, and recently, the JRPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, have all received universal acclaim and exceeded commercial expectations.
The latter, especially, has become a major success story for the indie world, putting up brilliant sales numbers. And, from the looks of it, the stats are only improving for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as the game is showing no signs of slowing down.
Why This Matters: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s great numbers over a week after release are a positive sign for smaller gaming studios.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is not stopping anytime soon on Steam
The JRPG has hit a new concurrent player peak on Steam, a whopping ten days after releasing, as it amassed 129,461 players just yesterday. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 had already reached the 100k mark on launch, but the continuous rise showcases its strong legs and positive word of mouth.
Average player counts have also remained fairly consistent, a major feat for the single-player genre. These games typically lose players over time, but the Sandfall Interactive RPG is going in the opposite direction.
Considering the hype surrounding the RPG, the numbers are not really a big surprise. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has received such universal acclaim that even the French President chimed in to call the JRPG a showcase of French talent and declared it French pride.

Nintendo recently discussed the importance of diversity.
Doug Bowser states that diverse talent helps the company reach a bigger audience.
This focus has been in place for many years and will remain an important part of Nintendo’s future.
Nintendo’s recent marketing push for the Switch 2 has revealed plenty of information regarding the gaming giant’s approach to the industry. The company continues to stay firm on its focus on creativity and innovation, offering new features like mouse controls in the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons.
Nintendo’s pursuit of quality requires the gaming giant to work with talented developers. The company also believes that this talent should be diverse so as to meet the needs of a huge player base.
Why it matters: Diversity has been a controversial subject in gaming recently, with many games aimed at a huge audience failing to stand out despite big budgets and long development cycles.
The Switch 2 Will Boast Greater Third-Party Support
Nintendo of America’s president, Doug Bowser, shared his thoughts on diversity recently. He emphasized that the company has been hiring diverse people for a long time.
Although various companies have recently been pushing to reduce diversity, Nintendo plans to continue with its current approach. Doug Bowser also stated that the gaming giant’s focus on diversity has been ongoing since before the “DEI” term gained popularity.
He believes talent needs to be diverse because different experiences and backgrounds add more value to the company. As the president states, this focus allows Nintendo to connect with a broader player base.
We believe it’s important for talent to be diverse. This is something that’s been in place for years.

As fans continue to show enthusiasm for Mafia’s return, more and more details about the title are popping up. However, one particular detail has left some fans concerned, with an ESRB rating pointing to the inclusion of potential microtransactions in the game.
Why it matters: Fans and developers typically like to speak out against this ever-growing trend in the industry since microtransactions are practically everywhere these days.
As per the game’s official ESRB page, blood and gore, violence, and other elements are present in Mafia: The Old Country. However, ESRB also states that the title features “in-game purchases.
This particular statement is most commonly associated with microtransactions, implying Hangar 13 has included them in the title. Although microtransactions are typically included in live-service releases, titles like Assassin’s Creed highlight how they can fit in single-player environments.
Perhaps Mafia: The Old Country will include cosmetics or buyable upgrades as part of the gameplay loop. It is also possible that Hangar 13 has planned purchasable DLC instead of microtransactions to earn this tag from ESRB.
Mafia Is Returning With Stunning Visuals And Gameplay
Although fans may be disappointed by this news, Mafia: The Old Country’s nearing release means that more details are right around the corner. Therefore, Hangar 13 should be able to confirm whether microtransactions will be part of the gameplay experience very soon.

A YouTuber used the mechanics of visual Ray Tracing to help make 3D realistic ray tracing audio so it can be used for future games.
Your player shoots rays outwards in the surroundings, and these rays travel to seek a source of sound. Once they detect it, they return to the player.
With different walls and objects hindering the source of the sound, these waves travel through the openings to present realistic sounds.
Ray Tracing has made many games appear realistic by using real-life-inspired lighting effects and ultra-realistic shadows. Not only that, but the reflections also mimic what we see in real life.
Ray Tracing Audio (Image Credits – YT/Vercidium)
While many people love the visual enhancements it provides, others conclude that it isn’t necessary for games. These debates are quite common for visual Ray Tracing, but what if I told you that we could now be getting Ray Tracing for audio?
Audio Ray Tracing
YouTuber Vercidium worked for seven years in the game engine, and he has figured out that he can use Ray Tracing to get realistic 3D Audio. What he discovered is something that could be utilised in future games. Let’s see how it works.
Currently, most games use binaural audio to generate 3D sounds. This tricks your brain into thinking that a specific sound came from a particular place. But this has its issues and limitations.
The Problem With Standard Audio In Games
See, if two players are standing close to each other, they’ll have clear sounds. However, if the second player decides to enter a room, their audio will be slightly muffled. The audio will be further muffled if he goes to a distant room.
Different Rooms (Image Credits – YT/Vercidium)
But the problem is that games have variable environments, which significantly impact the audio we perceive. For instance, the walls of some rooms could be thicker than the others. Some doors of the rooms could be opened while others were closed.
Moreover, some could have one of their walls destroyed due to the destructible environment in the game. All of this would become a big problem if developers just used a fixed system for the audio.
How Ray Tracing Audio Works
This is where Ray Tracing Audio comes in. The way it works is that the player will fire rays outwards into the room, much similar to how Ray Tracing works. These rays are in 3d and are too quick to be captured by our eyes.
Rays Travelling (Image Credits – YT/Vercidium)
Unlike how sound travels from the object making the sound towards our ears, these rays are fired outwards from our player and towards our environment. These rays then travel as far as they can, depending on the environment, to see audio cues.
Once these rays detect a source of sound, they get absorbed by this very source. The more rays there are surrounding the source of the sound, the clearer you can hear the sound in that area.

With Walls Or Other Objects In The Way
If you close up the room by placing a few partial walls or other heavy objects, the sound waves only travel along the paths that are open, and they reduce in size. So, the audio will only be perceived from those openings.
This way, game developers can experiment with the entire building by placing walls in some areas and leaving openings in others, and the audio rays will always react differently, presenting us with realistic audio every time.
With Walls (Image Credits – YT/Vercidium)
Echo Rays
The same goes for Echo sounds. In any room, your player will shoot rays outwards, and after they’ve reached the edge of the room, these rays will return to the player and will be the Echo that we hear in real life.
Using objects in the middle of the room will shrink the pathway of these rays since they’ll have less space to travel, thus making for less echo in the room. If the rays travel to the end of the level, we’ll say that they’ve escaped outdoors.
Echo Rays (Image Credits – YT/Vercidium)
Similarly, if there are two rooms and one of them has a window where the storm sounds from outside can be heard, then these same echo waves will travel back after bouncing from the walls to create a realistic muffled sound.
In Rooms With Variable Thickness
For rooms with variable thickness, a new kind of ray will be used. They’ll shoot outwards from the player, but the longer they stay inside a wall, the more energy they’ll lose. This will muffle the sounds more in a thicker room than a thinner one.

This Is The Future Of Audio
Now, those who thought Ray Tracing was not worth it should reconsider their opinion, as standard Ray Tracing principles are used to create this breakthrough discovery.
Vercidium went ahead and made the entire animation and code of this project accessible to the public. He has also put through a survey form that will record your interest so that Ray Tracing audio could be used in future games as a paid plugin.

Beyond 2 features a 2560×2560 OLED lens with an adjustable IPD, 116 field-of-view, and a 100% edge-to-edge clarity.
It is also the world’s lightest VR, and it sits perfectly on your face, allowing for rapid head movements without losing alignment.
It comes with a price tag of $1019 for the base model and $1219 for the eye-tracking variant, which is worth it for the features it’s offering.
For years, we’ve been seeing advancements in virtual reality, but something was still missing every time a new VR headset was released. Most of these VRs often fell short due to their bulky designs, motion sickness, or mid-visuals.
However, Bigscreen has fixed all of these issues with their latest Beyond 2, and it just seems like we’re already living in the future. But before that, let me give you a brief history of the Bigscreen’s first Beyond headset.

Bigscreen Solves The Issues Other VRs Had
See, unlike most VR manufacturers, Bigscreen acknowledged that most people hate having a bulky headset on top of their head. Not only is it heavy, but it also limits a lot of fast head movements.
Even if you can move your head quickly, the bulkier headsets would lose their alignment slightly, which would give your eyes bad visuals and would kill the immersion. With this approach, you always had to align it after movements.
Custom-Made For Your Face
Therefore, Bigscreen decided to mould their headsets so that they fit perfectly on your face. The only way you could order one is if you send them the 3d scan of your face from your iPhone.
Custom-Fit Cushions (Image Credits – Bigscreen)
They would then manufacture the headset with a face cushion custom-made for your face, with factory-set IPD based on your scan. IPD refers to the distance between the pupils of your eyes.
This means you can’t share this with others, nor can you sell it unless someone has the same facial features as you. Bigscreen adopted the same approach with Beyond 2, while fixing the widely requested issues.
Adjustable This Time
With Beyond 2, you can adjust the IPD using the screw they’ve given you on the side of the headset. They also have a Halo Mount strap as a purchasable option, which allows you to share your headset with others.
Adjustable IPD (Image Credits – YT/ThrillSeeker)
This strap allows users to slide the VR down, which is heavily inspired by night vision goggles. Using the VR with this mount is extremely comfortable, unlike other headsets such as the Meta Quest 3.
World’s Lightest VR
Another thing that Bigscreen improved on was its weight. Even though the first Beyond goggles were already light, weighing 127g, the Beyond 2’s goggles are further reduced in weight by 15%, weighing 107g.
With its lighter weight and incredible lens, you can go for hours on end without experiencing eye fatigue. Its exceptional features make the bulkier VRs, such as both Primax Crystals, look pointless, despite offering higher resolutions.
World’s Lightest VR (Image Credits – YT/Optimum)
Bigscreen didn’t have to do that, but with this weight, Beyond 2 is officially the lightest VR in the world. Even with the entire headset, Beyond 2 is half the weight of the Meta Quest 3 and almost a quarter of that of the Primax Crystal.
Resolution & Lens Features
Not to mention, the Beyond 2 comes with a 2560 x 2560 per eye OLED display with 75Hz, which is a bump over the Quest 3 (2064 x 2208 LCD) and the Valve Index (1440 x 1660 LCD).
Speaking of its lens, Bigscreen went the extra mile. This VR comes with a 116° field of view, which is a boost compared to the Quest 3. It also features a 100% edge-to-edge clarity.
This kind of lens is a huge upgrade even from the higher resolution VR headsets because you can see all the textures and details. Yes, there are some dark spots at the corner, but the image isn’t blurry, unlike the previous Beyond.
Smallest Eye-Tracking System In The World
Since there is so little space to fit a standard eye-tracking system in this VR, Bigscreen had to make the world’s smallest eye-tracking system. The image sensor that comes with it is the size of a single grain of sand.
Although the eye-tracking features haven’t been fully announced yet, Bigscreen is collaborating with Nvidia, Valve, and game developers to add great features. This eye-tracking VR will be a separate variant that’ll be shipped in July 2025.
Price Tag
With all of these features, the Bigscreen comes with a price tag of $1019, whereas its eye-tracking variant costs $1219. While this isn’t the cheapest considering other VR headsets, it is still cheaper than Apple’s Vision Pro.
Even Apple can benefit and become more mainstream if it opts for cheaper Vision Pros in the future, if it decides to follow Beyond 2’s footsteps by merging affordability with the features the community needs.

Rockstar added BattleEye anti-cheat, which banned people who cheated and had lots of money in the game.
It falsely affected many innocent players’ accounts who never cheated. It was also not supported on Steam Deck, so its players were deprived.
This caused a war where modders DDoSed Red Dead Online and GTA Online servers, and even BattleEye’s website, to retaliate.
GTA Online soared in popularity, so much so that Rockstar makes more than half a billion dollars a year. However, it was riddled with cheaters who used mods to gain an unnecessary advantage over other players.
Why Was Cheating Rampant?
GTA Online had no sign of anti-cheat for years, which allowed players to use mod menus in their online sessions. These menus allowed players to obtain unfathomable amounts of money, spawn vehicles and practically do anything.

Cheaters Killing Other Players
But these weren’t the source of the problem for anyone, including the innocent players. It became problematic when these cheaters used these mod menus to harm other players.
For instance, these cheaters would enable God-mode, where players won’t lose any health if other players try to kill them. Pair this with the ability to have an aim-bot, and you have a cheater killing innocent players without getting hurt.
Accessing IPs
But it didn’t just stop there. These hackers also evaded people’s privacy by accessing their IP addresses. There was even a time when cheaters could remotely modify or brick your account.

This had become very annoying in the GTA community, where nearly every online session was filled with hackers who took away the fun they used to have. This went on for nine years until Rockstar decided to add anti-cheat.
But Why After 9 Years?
GTA V Online is Rockstar’s cash cow, and ever since its release, it has gotten tons of upgrades, particularly over 50 content updates. Despite all these updates, they never implemented this anti-cheat. So why after 9 years?
Shark Cards
See, Rockstar made tons of money from selling Shark Cards, which allowed players to get in-game money. Even GTA V DLC was cancelled since GTA Online made so much money, and part of it is because of these Shark Cards.

Rockstar didn’t want people to hack their way into getting all the money because this is what people started doing. They watched a YouTube video, downloaded a mod menu and got themselves rich in-game, which was a losing point for Rockstar.
GTA 6 Online
Another reason could be that Rockstar has already made lots of plans for GTA 6 Online and wants people to trust the company that their next game won’t have this cheating problem.
Battle-Eye: A Blessing And A Curse
Now, Rockstar didn’t add any anti-cheat software, but they specifically went for Battle-Eye. This anti-cheat software monitors your PC and has the highest access to your system.
Great Action Against Cheaters
This proved very effective as the first GTA V Online ban wave was rolled out just a week after implementing this anti-cheat system, which reportedly affected 20,000 accounts.
Players were either suspended, had character resets, or were permanently banned. Now, these weren’t standard account bans. Rather, these were hardware bans where players would be banned from playing GTA Online on their PC.
With this implementation, there were reports that there was a significant drop in cheaters. It also initially scared off a lot of modders, and some even gave up the modding work for GTA V Online for good.
But Affected Innocent Players
While Rockstar’s ban wave was a good attempt, it wasn’t perfect. Many innocent players who’ve spent hours on this game and never cheated once became victims of this ban as well.
False Bans (Image Credits – X/Tez2)
This anti-cheat looked for players with a lot of in-game money and started to ban them, which resulted in many players facing false bans. It seems like Rockstar wanted this anti-cheat to be added so players don’t get money by hacking.
Rockstar later sent out an appeal form where innocent players pleaded and, fortunately, got their accounts back. However, there was one more problem because of this anti-cheat system.
Unsupported On Steam Deck
Despite GTA V being the most popular game on the Steam Deck, this anti-cheat system prevented Linux from playing GTA V Online. In fact, it was unsupported on Steam Deck, which annoyed the handheld players.

Valve was kind enough to refund players the game because of this anti-cheat mess. However, the implementation of anti-cheat was still something that modders weren’t going to forgive.
Modders Started A War
This started a war between the modders and Rockstar. In an attempt to retaliate, these modders started DDoSing not only GTA V Online and Red Dead Online but also Battle-Eye’s website.
As if that weren’t enough, people have already created menus that work around the anti-cheat system. Now, bots are entering online sessions and using these menus to kick other players and freeze their games.

How Is The Cheating Situation Now?
Today, you can still find cheaters in your lobby that ruin the experience of the innocent players in one way or another. However, the cheater problem isn’t as much as it was before the anti-cheat, but it is still there.

Following Nintendo’s announcement of an $80 game, Xbox announced that it is also increasing the price of its upcoming first-party titles.
This move by the gaming giant has caused a lot of controversy online.
Fans are now saying they will wait for sales rather than buying games on launch.
Just recently, Nintendo announced that Switch 2 Games will cost $80, which angered a massive fandom. The $70 price was already too much, and this increase has caused a lot of controversy. Due to Nintendo increasing the prices, Xbox has followed suit and announced that its new first-party games will now cost $80.
This has caused upset in the gaming industry, and fans are furious. They don’t want to pay $80 for a game, as that is just too much money.
Why it matters: If a game has infinite replayability, then spending this much makes sense. However, the replayability of a game depends on the preference of the person. That is why this new increase in game prices is so controversial.
Fans are absolutely hating the fact that Xbox games will now cost $80.
On different social media platforms, the fandom has made it clear that they don’t like this new change. Microsoft has not only increased the prices of its games but has also increased the console’s prices worldwide.
Damn, those are brutal. Game prices increasing so soon after they went up to $70 is not going to go over well. $70 already significantly cut down on how many new games I buy per year. I can’t imagine spending $80 on anything on release other than maybe GTA VI.
While many are against this price tag for games, some are defending Microsoft. They may not be defending the increase in prices, but they are saying that Microsoft isn’t to blame. That is because Nintendo was the first one to make this move, and it was only a matter of time before others followed suit, just like Xbox did.
The Fandom Is Furious Over The Price Increase By Microsoft.
A Fan Suggests To Wait For News Games To Become Cheaper Than Buying On Launch.
Another Fan Thinks Buying Game At This Price Is Ridiculous
The best way to deal with games with an $80 price tag is to wait for sales, as every game goes on sale eventually.
Some fans now think that Sony is likely to follow this trend, which seems likely. What do you think about the new first-party games from Xbox costing $80? Do you think this price is fair? Black Myth: Wukong saw a physical launch during the last month of 2024.
The publishers are happy with the physical release as it performed massively well.
The studio has also emphasised the importance of physical releases.
Black Myth: Wukong was the biggest launch last year, winning multiple awards, including the Steam GOTY. The title has already sold over 25 million copies, becoming the biggest hit from Chinese developers.
While many studios have been skipping physical releases and only focusing on the digital market, the Black Myth: Wukong publisher stated that the title’s physical release saved businesses.
Why it matters: Recently, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was also reported to be selling well in the stores, further suggesting that the physical releases are still valuable.
Black Myth Wukong Failed To Win The GOTY At The Game Awards
During a recent conversation with The Gamer at the LVL UP Expo, PM Studios CEO Mike Yum discussed the physical release of the Black Myth Wukong, stating that it performed incredibly well.
While he didn’t share any numbers as they are kept private, he stated that all the distributors and partners have been happy with the results, and it has even saved the businesses of many.
I got a lot of calls like during Christmas and after the New Year’s thanking me and saying that it saved their business.
-Mike Yum
He further emphasises the importance of physical releases, stating that many regions still wait for the physical release of the title because they don’t have advanced internet technology.
They’re paying per data. In places like that, where the bandwidth is low or slower, they were very much waiting for a physical copy of the game.
Black Myth: Wukong Has Already Sold Over 25 Million Copies
Mike also talked about how it’s easier to get eyes on the title at the store, as anyone who’s walking around can see it. On the other hand, digital places are overflowing with games, making it difficult to be noticed.
Nonetheless, what do you think about this? Do you believe physical releases are still valuable? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or join Tech4Gamers forums.
