The title was finally released earlier today, reaching over 51K players just soon after its launch on Steam. It has been noted that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is already the highest-rated game on Metacritic for 2025.
Why it matters: Since the title is Sandfall Interactive’s debut project, the studio should already be celebrating its success.
As seen above, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is currently the highest-rated game on Metacritic, scoring 92 out of 100, based on 55 critic reviews.
Since the game has only been out for a few hours, the user score has yet to be determined. However, based on the reviews of the title, it’s likely that the game will receive a positive user score as well.
The title has managed to beat huge releases like Split Fiction, which currently has a score of 91 on Metacritic, Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and many more to be the highest-rated game of the year.
It should also be noted that Oblivion Remastered was also shadow-dropped recently. It reached over 150K players on Steam in just six hours of its launch and could soon take the throne.
The remastered version has yet to receive ratings, but until then, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is leading the year’s race. This is a huge success for the studio, which has managed to release such a huge hit with its debut project.
