Until Dawn Remake Peaks At Just Over 2K Players With Mixed Reviews on Steam

Story Highlight
  • Until Dawn Remake on PC disappoints with just over 2.5K concurrent players on Steam.
  • The game has less than 1K reviews, and those are mixed because of performance issues and bugs.
  • It is one of the worst-performing PlayStation ports to date after Sackboy and Concord.

The Until Dawn Remake is something no one asked for. While it is a really fun game that captures the essence of true horror, it never had a huge fan following. Even now, Until Dawn Remake on PC peaked at an underwhelming 2,607 players on Steam.

Why it matters: Sony is on a spree of releasing remasters and remakes. However, the biggest mistake it is making is launching remakes that weren’t necessary in the first place, leading to a not-so-good reception from the fans.

Until Dawn Remake has peaked at an underwhelming 2,607 players on Steam

Apart from such a low peak player count, the reviews aren’t anything special either. With just under 1K reviews, the game sits on ‘Mixed’ reviews on Steam, with players pointing out numerous flaws and bugs.

In fact, at launch, some bugs were so bad that you couldn’t get past certain levels without the game crashing on you. However, Update 1 has resolved some of those bugs, but some performance issues are still there.

Another point that doesn’t help Sony’s cause is the PSN requirement. Just like some of the previous PlayStation ports, Until Dawn isn’t available in most parts of the world, making it totally inaccessible to the masses.

Despite the argument of whether it was necessary or not, Until Dawn Remake is a really good-looking port. If we compare it side-by-side to its predecessor, the difference is quite apparent, and that is to be expected from a game that was originally launched on PS3.

This whole situation should force Sony to rethink its strategy. Especially about what games should be remade and the whole PSN requirement scenario. There are also rumors of a God of War Greek Saga Remaster, which is something Sony should be focusing on and many will appreciate.

RTX 5090 Laptop 256-bit With 24 GB of GDDR7 To Launch In Mid 2025

When the RTX 40 series of laptops were launched, the performance disappointed many of the users as they had limited memory capacity. However, the Nvidia upcoming next-gen RTX 50 GPUs for laptops will fix all these issues as the specifications of the RTX 5090 24 GB VRAM have been revealed.

A new generation of graphics cards from NVIDIA, AMD, and even Intel has been anticipated for almost two years.

Why it matters: The three tech companies released their latest GPUs in 2022, and we haven’t heard anything official about the next generation since.

While Intel did indeed unveil the Xe2 architecture and its theoretical improvements, in reality, only the iGPU tests conducted on Lunar Lake were demonstrated. Regarding AMD, there was no mention of the Radeon RX 8000, while NVIDIA’s only offering was Blackwell for AI.

We are unsure if these products will indeed be released in 2024 or if they will ultimately be released in 2025 because of no official information from these companies. Right now, all we can do is wait for the leaks and rumours. Thus, the features and anticipated release date of the RTX 5090 laptop are covered in a new video from Moore’s Law is Dead.

If you remember correctly, there is a significant VRAM issue with the RTX 40 laptops, in which the RTX 4050 required 6 GB of RAM, the RTX 4070 8 GB, and the RTX 4080 12 GB.

With the RTX 4090, we got 16 GB, which was the same as the PC version of the RTX 4080. This has been resolved with the RTX 50, or at the very least the RTX 5090, as it will use a 256-bit interface and 24 GB of GDDR7 memory instead of 16 GB.

The RTX 5090 laptop CPU will be known as GB203; it will be 377 mm2 in size, just like the previous version. It appears that the 24 GB model is the only one that will be available because there won’t be other versions with less memory.

According to Moore, NVIDIA is awaiting the release of 3 GB GDDR7 memory modules for its GPUs, which is why there is a delay. Moore also indicates the launch of the PC version RTX 50 series will be later this year.

Alien Isolation Sequel Finally Announced After A Whole Decade

Story Highlight
  • Alien Isolation is receiving a sequel more than a decade later.
  • This sequel is being made to address fan demand after the original game became a cult classic.
  • Creative Assembly will share more details in due time.

Alien Isolation often comes to mind when discussing the most influential horror games of all time. Despite its status as an underrated gem, there has been plenty of demand for more entries in the franchise ever since it debuted 10 years ago.

While all hope seemed lost, Sega has come up with a pleasant surprise. The gaming giant has officially confirmed a sequel to this beloved horror classic.

Why it matters: Horror games have gone through a resurgence in recent years. Between various remakes, including Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, and Silent Hill 2, and original titles like Alan Wake 2, the genre has never been better.

Alien Isolation Sequel Announcement

Taking to Twitter, Alien Isolation director Al Hope just shared the good news with millions of fans.

He confirmed that Creative Assembly has begun work on the sequel. Based on the message, this sequel seems to have resulted directly from fan demand for the franchise over the last decade.

Al Hope has yet to share much else, but he confirms that the team will reveal new details once they are ready. Though these details might take a while, there’s never been a better time to delve into the original Alien Isolation.

The game is widely available for dirt cheap today and frequently goes on sale. With the sequel in development, it only makes sense for newcomers and older fans to jump back into Creative Assembly’s terrifying recreation of the Alien series.

For the unaware, Alien Isolation saw a lukewarm commercial reception at release. The title sold just 2.11 million copies in the first six months, giving publisher Sega little reason to work on a sequel.

Still, Creative Assembly acknowledged fan demand for a sequel as far back as 2015. Unfortunately, Sega’s financial analysis of the situation put the team in a difficult position.

With a sequel now in development, fans around the globe are excited to see what’s next for the much-awaited sequel to Alien Isolation. Original director Al Hope is also returning for the new game, giving fans just one more reason to be excited.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Becomes Best Selling Title On Steam Ahead of Launch

Story Highlight
  • Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is finally coming in three days.
  • The title is already the best-selling game on Steam.
  • It is likely to maintain this spot for a while.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is finally coming out later this week as the spiritual successor to the Budokai Tenkaichi franchise.

While the title is only three days away from its launch, it appears to be one of the most anticipated titles on Steam, as Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has already reached the best-selling spot on Steam.

Why it matters: Fans have been waiting for the latest entry in the franchise for a long time. Therefore, these numbers were pretty expected.

As seen above, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is currently in the 2nd spot among the top sellers on Steam. However, as Counter-Strike 2 is a Free-to-Play title, we are not considering the list making the upcoming Dragon Ball title best seller on Steam.

It’s likely that the game will maintain this spot as the reviews just came out, and it received a solid rating of 84 on Metacritic. However, Silent Hill 2 early access went live yesterday, and it has already received over 95% positive reviews. The game is currently sitting at the second spot, so it can also take the first position.

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Is Finally Coming In Two Days

We believe Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has the perfect recipe to be the ultimate Dragon Ball game, as the title features 180 characters at launch, and the story will also be picked from the start of Dragon Ball Z.

Therefore, the hype and anticipation for the title appear to be worth it, and we hope it won’t disappoint us at launch.

EA Patents ‘Personalized Guidance System’ To Help Players Become Pros In Games

Story Highlight
  • EA has published a new “Personalized Guidance System” patent that wants to help players become pros in games.
  • It will provide individual help to players in games to help them overcome their weaknesses and grow their skills.
  • The patent can also suggest the best path for players and help devs focus on the most popular gameplay preferences.

Giant conglomerates like Sony and EA are always in an arms race to develop a plethora of unique and absurd features. These features often first appear in the form of patents to ensure that the competition cannot use them, but the latest one feels too good to be true.

We found a new patent published by EA that wants to develop a new “Personalized Guidance System” to help players become pros in its games. The patent discusses adding an automated player guidance system that can replace the traditional generalized tutorials.

“Based on the determinations and an identity of a user’s current skills, personalized guidance can be developed to assist the user in progressing within the video game or in improving the user’s skill with respect to the video game.”

Why it matters: EA publishing the patent could mean it is preparing to add an automated player guidance system to its games. The system could replace tutorials and individually guide newbies into becoming pros.

The legal document dubbed “AUTOMATED PERSONALIZED VIDEO GAME GUIDANCE SYSTEM” introduces a guidance system that uses advanced algorithms and AI technology. It would cater to each player to help them resolve their exact weaknesses and provide user-specific help and suggestions to help them grow their skills.

Unlike basic tutorials, the player guidance system can analyze the player’s playstyle, strategies, and various gameplay features to help them adapt and grow their skills.

EA discusses an example of its FIFA games, where players would benefit from a player-specific guidance system. For example, a player might struggle to defend and keep the ball in the sideline area; the automated guidance system would provide strategies and tips to help the player overcome that issue.

“while a basic or standard tutorial may be sufficient for teaching a novice the basic rules of the game, it may be insufficient for anything more complex.”

All in all, we suggest taking the published legal document with a grain of salt since EA may never develop it into a feature.

Nevertheless, Sony also recently published a piece about creating variations of in-game sound effects automatically using AI. Similarly, another Sony patent talks about bringing PS3 backward compatibility for PlayStation 5, which corroborates a prevalent rumor.

Ubisoft Acknowledged Recent Buyout Rumors, Says It Is Reviewing Options

Story Highlight
  • Recently, rumours were going on about Ubisoft being taken private by the Guillemot family and Tencent.
  • Now, the company has acknowledged these rumors and said that it is reviewing various options.
  • It didn’t reveal much about the situation, as more will be revealed when the time is right.

After the disappointing sales of Star Wars Outlaws and the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisost stocks fell even lower. Following that, a rumor surfaced online stating that the Guillemot family, along with Tencent, is planning to take the company private

With how things are going with Ubisoft, this seems like a smart decision, as otherwise, the company might not survive. Now, Ubisoft has acknowledged these buyout rumors and revealed that the Guillemot family is indeed considering taking the company private with Tencent.

Why it matters: Ubisoft has published some of the best games in the history of gaming, but due to its recent failures and ignoring fans’ feedback, the company is in a very poor condition.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Yasuke Will Remain The Main Lead In Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In a statement given to VGC regarding this buyout, the gaming giant acknowledged the rumors and revealed that it is regularly reviewing all of its strategic options in the interest of stakeholders.

Ubisoft has noted recent press speculation regarding potential interests around the Company.

It regularly reviews all its strategic options in the interest of stakeholders and will inform the market if and when appropriate.

-spokesperson

The gaming giant will inform the market when it seems appropriate to reveal such information. However, what matters is that the company has acknowledged the buyout rumors, and it seems like the Guillemot family is indeed at an early stage for this deal

When the rumor regarding this buyout surfaced online, the share price of Ubisoft increased by a whopping 40%. Before that, the share price was declining at a horrifying rate, but this sudden increase showed that the buyout is very likely now.

Star Wars Outlaws
Ubisoft Seems To Be Still Involved Heavily In DE&I Despite The Recent Controversies

This latest report also confirms that Ubisoft is indeed reviewing some strategic options. As of now, nothing else much is known, but given the giant’s condition, it is likely to reveal more about it pretty soon.

Despite the issues, the company reiterated that ‘the management is still focused on open-world adventures and GaaS native experiences.’ So, despite whatever is going on, it seems to focus on the two cores.

Ryzen 7 5800X Is Currently Selling For Its Lowest Price Yet

Story Highlight
  • The Ryzen 7 5800X is available for $128, offering 8 cores, 16 threads, and a max boost of 4.7 GHz, outperforming many Intel and older AMD processors.
  • It works with AM4 motherboards, allowing easy upgrades without needing a new motherboard if the BIOS is updated.
  • Compared to newer models like the 7700X and 9700X, the 5800X is a cost-effective choice for enhancing performance with a limited budget.

The Ryzen 7 5800X is currently available at Newegg for just $128 when you use the coupon code FTT354, making it the lowest price ever recorded.

With its Zen 3 architecture, the Ryzen 5800X features a maximum boost rate of 4.7 GHz, 8 cores, 16 threads, and 32MB of L3 cache. For those who like to calculate, the cost is only $16 for each additional thread or $8 per thread.

Why it matters: The Ryzen 7 5800X offers performance at an affordable price, making it ideal for budget-conscious gamers and creators. Its compatibility with AM4 motherboards allows easy upgrades without extra costs for new components.

The best part is that because this chip uses an AM4 socket, it can be paired with low-cost motherboards from several years ago. Once you confirm that you have the most recent BIOS for your motherboard, you can install this CPU into the same socket.

Newer variants like the Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 9700x have replaced this older CPU. That being said, not only are those two processors more expensive, but they also require more expensive DDR5 RAM and motherboards with AM5 sockets.

The 5800X is a good option if you’re starting from scratch and attempting to stay within a limited budget. However, there is no standard cooler in the box, so you will need to purchase a CPU cooler.

Ryzen 5800X performs noticeably better than Intel CPUs of the same era, including Zen 2-based AMD chips. Also, with its current discounted price, it offers a significant performance boost for users over Ryzen 2000 or 3000 series CPUs without the need for a new motherboard.

Over 95% of Players Don’t Consider Inclusivity Important In Gaming

Story Highlight
  • A recent poll indicates that over 95% of players don’t care about inclusivity in games.
  • Forcing inclusivity into video games has been a known culprit, leading them to failure.
  • DE&I has become an unfortunate trend that has gradually been gaining more pace.

Inclusivity is an unfortunate trend that has picked up in the industry over the past few years. While having characters of different origins isn’t anything bad, forcing a narrative is. Most fans share the opinion, as 95% of gamers voted they don’t care about inclusivity in gaming in a recent poll.

Why it matters: Inclusivity has emerged as a proven culprit that ruins an entire game. We have had some clear examples in the last few years, including Concord, Suicide Squad, and more, and the backlash from the fans was quite apparent.

DE&I Poll
Over 95% of gamers vote against inclusivity in a new poll on NeoGAF

A different poll on Twitter showed similar results. With nearly 10,000 votes, a whopping 97% of social media users voted against the importance of inclusivity.

Now, inclusivity isn’t a bad thing at all. In fact, it’s always good to see characters from different origins, genders, and races in a game, but what’s offsetting is the forced inclusivity narrative that pushes political agendas into gaming

For context, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice introduced Mrs. Freeze in its last season. The character has a huge history in comics, movies, and TV shows and has always been Victor Fries or Mr. Freeze. The idea of changing that attracted a lot of criticism.

DE&I Poll On Twitter
Nearly 10,000 Gamers Voted Against Inclusion On Twitter

Forced inclusivity was never a problem a few years ago. Ever since consultation companies like Sweet Baby Inc. emerged, this unfortunate trend has been forced into the industry, ruining many great games.

Sweet Baby has a bunch of notable names working with it including Santa Monica, Xbox Game Studios, Warner Bros, Ubisoft, and more. The influence is quite visible in their recent titles as well. Square Enix should be appreciated for being pulled out of the list.

One of Sweet Baby’s employees even admitted that the company’s goal is to ‘burn the industry to the ground,’ indicating a massive threat to the gaming industry. Nonetheless, this trend needs to stop; otherwise, we’ll see a lot more big-budget games fail poorly.

Future Hitman Should Have A Properly Implemented Co-Op Mode

Story Highlight
  • The newer Hitman games transformed the franchise into a full sandbox experience, offering infinite possibilities for players to explore and replay with each mission.
  • The game was perfect for a co-op mode, and while Hitman 2 featured co-op, it was limited to Sniper mode only.
  • Inspired by Hitman 2’s Ghost Mode, a fan developed a co-op mod for Hitman as a concept to showcase how co-op gameplay would work with Hitman.

Hitman is my favorite stealth gaming franchise of all time, and the latest trilogy transformed the once-linear game into a sandbox with a more cinematic approach.

It’s safe to say that IO Interactive’s attempt was more than successful. Each map in the trilogy is more than rememberable and has tons of replayability to date.

The complete trilogy is now summarized into one main entry, which also makes the game a live-action model. The game also features several new modes, both existing and newer. However, if one thing is missing from the game, it is an actual co-op mode.

Why It Matters: Co-op gameplay suits stealth games well, and the new Hitman environments are perfect for two players. Even Sniper Elite has a co-op mode, so why not the Hitman games?

These Newer Hitman Games Are Best Designed For A Co-op Mode

Hitman IO Interactive
Hitman Trilogy Has Aged Like Fine Wine

IO Interactive has significantly changed its approach with the latest Hitman trilogy, straying from a conventional narrative style and leaning towards being an assassination simulator.

I’ve already mentioned how these newer Hitman games have taken a sandbox stealth approach, and sometimes, the game even offers multiple targets. This is where a co-op mode would work best.

The role-playing would be next level with a co-op mode, with players working together to take down targets individually or simultaneously. Moreover, the approach and playstyles would also perfectly complement each other.

Take this, for instance: one person would be a sniper taking out one target while the other takes out the second. One could cause a distraction, while the other would sneak in. This would require some core gameplay changes, but that’s possible in Hitman, with its levels designed for insane customization, changes, and, most importantly, replayability.

Splitting objectives, making the game even tougher, limiting item use, or just vamping the security, a co-op mode would work in many ways. There was a co-op option in Hitman 2, but it was unfortunately limited to Sniper mode only.

Hitman 2’s Ghost Mode Inspired This One Co-op Mode

Multiplayer mod for Hitman World of Assassination (co-op & versus) – teaser
byu/uf51 inHiTMAN

Hitman 2 originally featured a multiplayer mode called Ghost Mode. It was a highly competitive and fun experience where two players raced to be the first to score 10 points by eliminating targets.

While Ghost Mode wasn’t exactly a co-op experience, it was a head-to-head race to kill targets faster than the other player. However, the mode had limited maps and little player interaction, making it a failure.

Despite being shut down, Ghost Mode inspired a fan to develop a co-op mode. Unfortunately, this fan-made mode was never released due to concerns about piracy and technical issues. The fan had created custom game modes with adjustable parameters to balance the skill gap between players.

Though still a concept, the mod was open-source, and many features could have been refined. However, gameplay footage shows that a co-op mode in Hitman is not only possible but looks incredibly fun.

I really hope IO Interactive considers adding a proper co-op mode in future Hitman games and finally brings this concept to life.

Fans Are Extremely Concerned Over Recent Staff Changes At Halo Franchise

Story Highlight
  • 343 Industries has a new leadership with a focus on DEI.
  • Fans argue that emphasis on DEI is harming the franchise’s creative aspects.
  • The franchise has transitioned from Slipspace to Unreal Engine 5.

The Halo franchise has been a key part of Xbox’s success since it started, but recent changes have worried many fans. Once a leader in first-person shooters, Halo has faced challenges in recent years, and the latest news from Microsoft and 343 Industries has increased concerns among players.

Fans are worried about the growing emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Halo franchise.

Why it matters: Some players believe that this focus has harmed the quality and creativity that made the franchise so special.

Halo Studios Chief of Staff
343 Industries has been rebranded to “Halo Studios.”

343 Industries has rebranded itself as “Halo Studios,” marking the start of a new era called “New Dawn.” The studio’s new Chief of Staff is deeply focused on introducing DEI in Halo games. Many fans fear it’s just a PR move to hide bigger problems within the franchise.

These fans feel that while representation matters, focusing too much on diversity and inclusion might push away longtime players who loved Halo for its sci-fi story and multiplayer.

Fans believe Halo should prioritize gameplay and competitiveness instead of concentrating on social messaging to regain its status as a top title in the FPS genre.

Fans were also quick to point out something odd. Microsoft recently shut down its DEI department, however, now the Chief of Staff at Halo Studios is an ally of DEI in video games.

The community’s feelings about these changes are deeply divided. Many longtime fans feel left out by Halo’s new direction. More people are worried that these choices might lead to the end of the beloved franchise.

Fans Worried About Halo Franchise
Fans express disappointment over the changes and concerns about the franchise’s future.

Comment sections on forums and social media are filled with negative comments. Players reminisce about when Halo was the top game on Xbox, helping the Xbox 360 compete against the PlayStation 3.

Moreover, the biggest change upsetting the Halo community is 343 Industries’ decision to switch from its own Slipspace engine to Unreal Engine 5. While this aims to simplify game development and attract new talent, not all fans are on board.

Some, like Twitter user SmashJT, are skeptical, saying the franchise has lost its original identity because of these changes.

Despite these changes, it’s clear players will continue to play the franchise. Halo Infinite is finally profitable, meaning fans are still supporting the game through microtransactions.

Silent Hill 2 Remake: Wikipedia Locks The Page After Fake Negative Reviews

Story Highlight
  • Silent Hill 2 remake has been released to overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.
  • The game has also received a pretty solid ratings from critics.
  • However, a certain fandom recently took over Wikipedia and edited it to show that it received scores like 0/10 from the critics.

The Silent Hill 2 remake was previously criticised a lot by the fandom as it wasn’t a pretty picture. The remake didn’t look good at all but after the criticism and fandom’s feedback, Bloober Team managed to improve it a lot

The difference is obvious just looking at the first and recent trailer. Yesterday the early access was started and it seems like the fandom is having a blast as the game was released to overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.

The reviews from critics were also pretty great. However, this remake was for some reason spammed with fake negative reviews on Wikipedia.

Why it matters: Silent Hill 2 is arguably one of the most horror and best video games in the industry so it getting a remake was happy news for many which is why its Wikipedia page getting spammed by fake negative reviews doesn’t make sense.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Fake Reviews
The Recent From Blooper Team Has Received Fake Negative Reviews on Wikipedia

The remake was arguably in a very poor state upon reveal but the developer listened to the feedback and improved it a lot. However, the main concerns regarding the voice acting, Maria’s spookiness, and the change in character designs are still there.

That said, hating a game to this extent based on such concerns seems so unreasonable. On the Wikipedia page of Silent Hill 2 Remake the review scores by critics were shown extremely negative. Most of the scores were 0/10 which is just impossible for such a game to get.

The overall score for the PS5 version was shown 27/10 and for PC it was 10/100. This remake received a solid reception from both fandom and critics so this so-called ‘anti-woke’ fandom should really not perform such stunts.

Silent-Hill-2-Remake Featured

Now, the Wikipedia page is under the semi-protection status. This means that the unregistered users who were editing it before can’t do it again. The page even claimed that the remake of this iconic survival horror has received the worst reviews possible from critics which is not true at all.

However, after the Wikipedia page was locked it was edited back and all of the review scores and information are now accurate. While this is not ideal this is mainly because such fans don’t like the idea of iconic games going ‘woke’ but it was unreasonable to stoop this low.
