Until Dawn Remake Peaks At Just Over 2K Players With Mixed Reviews on Steam

One of The Worst Performing PlayStation Ports on PC!

Story Highlight
  • Until Dawn Remake on PC disappoints with just over 2.5K concurrent players on Steam.
  • The game has less than 1K reviews, and those are mixed because of performance issues and bugs.
  • It is one of the worst-performing PlayStation ports to date after Sackboy and Concord.

The Until Dawn Remake is something no one asked for. While it is a really fun game that captures the essence of true horror, it never had a huge fan following. Even now, Until Dawn Remake on PC peaked at an underwhelming 2,607 players on Steam.

Why it matters: Sony is on a spree of releasing remasters and remakes. However, the biggest mistake it is making is launching remakes that weren’t necessary in the first place, leading to a not-so-good reception from the fans.

Apart from such a low peak player count, the reviews aren’t anything special either. With just under 1K reviews, the game sits on ‘Mixed’ reviews on Steam, with players pointing out numerous flaws and bugs.

In fact, at launch, some bugs were so bad that you couldn’t get past certain levels without the game crashing on you. However, Update 1 has resolved some of those bugs, but some performance issues are still there.

Another point that doesn’t help Sony’s cause is the PSN requirement. Just like some of the previous PlayStation ports, Until Dawn isn’t available in most parts of the world, making it totally inaccessible to the masses.

Despite the argument of whether it was necessary or not, Until Dawn Remake is a really good-looking port. If we compare it side-by-side to its predecessor, the difference is quite apparent, and that is to be expected from a game that was originally launched on PS3.

This whole situation should force Sony to rethink its strategy. Especially about what games should be remade and the whole PSN requirement scenario. There are also rumors of a God of War Greek Saga Remaster, which is something Sony should be focusing on and many will appreciate.
