Much like the previous generations, ASUS has divided their motherboards into four separate lineups, which include the TUF Gaming series, the ROG Strix series, the Pro Art series, and finally, the Prime series, with their ROG Strix lineup of motherboards mainly being aimed towards gamers and enthusiasts.
ASUS has introduced three different B650E boards for their ROG Strix lineup. Among those boards, the ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F is targeted toward consumers that want the most bang for their buck.
While there have not been a lot of visual improvements compared to its predecessor, we see a few major upgrades thanks to the latest B650E chipset. Those upgrades include support for PCIe Gen 5.0 and better overall connectivity.
Only falling slightly behind the ROG Strix B650E-E in terms of performance and features, the Strix B650E-F is a great pick for anyone interested in making use of the next-generation features at a reasonable price. That is not to say that it comes with a cheap price tag; compared to previous generations, there has been a significant bump in its price.
It comes with a single Gen 5.0 x 16 along with a standard Gen 4 slot. In addition to that, it features two Gen 5 M.2 slots and a single PCIe 4.0 m.2 slot. To further cater to your storage needs, ASUS has included a total of six SATA ports as well.
Aesthetically, the ROG Strix B650E-F shares a lot of similarities with its predecessor, coming with an all-black design with a few silver accents throughout the board. What We Liked

ASUS has made it back onto our list of the Best Motherboard For Ryzen 7 7700x, this time with their ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFI. It sits right between the previously mentioned B650E-F and the mini-ITX B650-I in ASUS’ newly released product lineup consisting of mid-range B650 and B650E boards.
While it clearly falls short in terms of performance and features when compared to its X670 counterparts, the B650-A Gaming WiFi is still perfectly capable of handling 8-core beasts systems such as the Ryzen 7 7700x.
In a similar fashion to the rest of the ROG Strix lineup of motherboards, we see a 14-phase VRM with the ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi in a 12+2 configuration. While this 14-phase VRM setup does not provide an exceptional overclocking experience, it is still a great inclusion, especially for a board targeted toward people on a budget.
Much like the previously mentioned ROG Strix B650E-F, the B650-A Gaming WiFi also comes with a total of three M.2 slots; however, the B650-A Gaming WiFi only features a single PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slot, with the other two slots operating at your standard PCIe Gen 4 speeds.
However, that is where the similarities end, with the ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi coming with a different PCIe configuration than the other boards in the ROG Strix lineup. Unfortunately, it does not come with PCIe Gen 5 support, only featuring a single full-sized PCIe Gen 4.0 x 16 slot along with another PCIe Gen 4 x 4 slot.
Compared to the previous generation, memory compatibility is where we see substantial improvements due to the Ryzen 7000 series of processors no longer supporting DDR4 memory. That said, the ASUS ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi comes with support for DDR5 memory at speeds up to 6400 MHz.
Taking a look at its rear I/O, ASUS has equipped the ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi with a wide selection of USB ports, including a total of six USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Another great inclusion is the addition of a front USB-Type C header, which was not previously seen in older generation boards.
What We Liked
As mentioned previously, its price plays a huge role in making it one of the more accessible motherboards to your average consumers. With the new generation motherboards from both AMD and Intel coming in with incredibly high price tags, it is nice to see a reasonably priced motherboard in the market, which is capable of handling the Ryzen 7000 series of processors, particularly the Ryzen 7 7700x.
While it does not feature a PCIe Gen 5 expansion slot, ASUS has included a PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slot which is always nice to see on a mid-range motherboard like this one. Moreover, two additional PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slots can also be found on this motherboard, further increasing its overall value.

MSI has cut no corners with the design of the MPG B650 Carbon WiFi, equipping it with powerful heatsinks which can be found throughout the board. The chipset heatsink sports a rather unique design, with white text on top of it that highlights the main specifications of the board.
Apart from that, an MSI logo can be found on top of the rear I/O, which comes with A-RGB lighting. Of course, the lighting is fully customizable using MSI’s Mystic Light software. Furthermore, the PCH heatsink extends all the way to the two M.2 slots, covering both of them.
Moving on to the board’s core specifications, MSI has included a ton of note-worthy features with the MPG B650 Carbon WiFi, including 4 M.2 slots in total, a beefy VRM setup, as well as 6 layer copper PCB. Luckily, for people interested in small form factor builds, ASUS has introduced their Mini-ITX ROG Strix X670E-I Gaming WiFi that promises to bring all of the premium features that the X670E chipset offers in a much smaller Mini-ITX form factor.
ASUS has achieved this small design by increasing the height of the VRM and M.2 heatsinks. In fact, Its abnormally tall heatsinks are what immediately stands out about its design. It is clear that ASUS has paid a lot of attention to its design, making great use of the small space they had to work with.
That said, all of the components around the CPU socket are adequately spaced, leaving you with ample room to install a beefy CPU air cooler or even an AIO Liquid Cooler. Moving on, two Memory DIMM slots are present, which support DDR5 memory up to 6600 MHz.
Much like the previous X570E-I from ASUS, we see the two M.2 slots stacked up on one another. It is worth mentioning that only one of the M.2 slots runs at PCIe Gen 5.0 speeds. You also get a 10+2 VRM design with the X670E-I Gaming WiFi which is a huge improvement over the 8+2 configuration seen on older generation X570E-I board.
Adding on, the ASUS ROG Strix X670E-I Gaming Wifi comes with a single PCIe Gen 5 x 16 slot. This full-sized slot allows you to take advantage of PCIe Gen 5.0 speeds; however, it is the only PCIe slot available on the motherboard, which is expected given its small form factor.
Since it is a mini-ITX motherboard, ASUS had to compromise on a few of the connectivity features, resulting in few ports and headers throughout the board. To counter that, ASUS has included their ROG FP-II card that provides extra SATA ports as well as more headers.
A decent selection of USB ports can be seen on the rear I/O, which includes two USB 4.0 ports and your standard 10 GB USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Furthermore, the 2.5G ethernet port has maintained its presence with the ROG Strix X670E-I.

The ASRock X670E Taichi is ASRock’s flagship motherboard, bringing the best of what the company has to offer. Incoporatiating some of the best features of the X670E chipset, the X670E Taich is targeted at enthusiasts that want to overclock their brand-new processors to their very limits.
Compared to the previous X570 Taichi, its design has received a complete revamp; however, it has maintained some of the older design features such as the cog present on the bottom right side of the board. Moreover, the chipset heatsink that extends over to the M.2 slot is now completely covered in a shiny black coating with an RGB logo on top of it.
Speaking of RGB, a subtle strip can be found on the bottom right side of the board. Perhaps the biggest change we see with its design is the shift to an E-ATX form factor, this change was made to give ASRock enough space to house all of its high-end components and gigantic heatsinks.
The ASRock X670E Taichi puts even some of the highest X570 offerings to shame with its monstrous 26 Phase VRM setup which assigns 24 phases to the CPU voltage and two phases to the SoC power. AMD released two different processors on the same day, 27th September 2022; Ryzen 5 7600x from the Ryzen 5 Desktop processors series and the Ryzen 7 7700x from the Ryzen 7 Desktop processors series, respectively. The major difference we find is in the number of cores and threads; there isn’t much difference in other specifications. The Ryzen 5 7600x comprises 6 cores and 12 threads, whereas the Ryzen 7 7700x comes with 8 cores and 16 threads; this does not contribute much to the base and boost clock speeds of these processors.
The Ryzen 5 7600x comes with a base clock of 4.7 GHz and a maximum boost clock speed of 5.3 GHz; on the contrary, the Ryzen 7 7700x comes with a base clock of 4.5 GHz and a maximum boost clock speed of 5.4 GHz. Even though the difference seems small, our performance tests run on Cinebench, Passmark CPU, and Geekbench 5 for single and multi-cores shows that Ryzen 7 7700x takes the lead barely and by a margin in many tests over the Ryzen 5 7600x.
The remaining specifications are mostly similar between these CPUs; the main one is that both these processors are overclocking unlocked, which makes both these processors one of our top recommendations for gamers and overclocking enthusiasts.
