God of War Live Service Concept Shows PlayStation Is Completely Lost This Generation

Story Highlight
  • A live-service God of War title from Bluepoint Games has just been cancelled.
  • Because the franchise has always been famous for its single-player content, this approach is shocking.
  • A previous attempt at multiplayer already showed the IP wouldn’t be the best fit for live-service.

PlayStation’s struggle with its live service ambitions continues to be a problem for the gaming giant. Following failures like Concord and cancellations like Twisted Metal and The Last of Us Multiplayer, yet another project has been scrapped mid-development.

The latest cancellation comes in the form of Bluepoint Games’ live-service project, but this isn’t the most shocking part. Apparently, the team was working on a God of War live-service game, and at this point, I have to ask why anyone at PlayStation thought a God of War live-service adaptation would ever be a good idea to begin with.

Why it matters: Bluepoint Games wasted a whopping four years on the project, all because the higher-ups wanted to cash in on the God of War name.

Not Everything Needs To Be Turned Into A Live Service

God of War Ragnarok
Santa Monica Wrapped Up The Norse Saga In The Series’ Latest Chapter

I’m all for branching out and taking creative risks with existing franchises, but the last thing I want from God of War is a live-service spin-off that nickles and dimes its players for skins and battle passes.

This genre is extremely competitive, and if Concord has shown anything, it’s that the PlayStation’s name can only take you so far. In my opinion, the God of War name would not guarantee success for this project either.

It’s baffling that the concept was greenlit to begin with, considering how closely tied God of War’s success is to the narrative and characters. I just don’t see how the franchise would work in a multiplayer setting.

This brings us back to the industry’s needless obsession with GAAS (games as a service). Forcing such projects upon studios rarely leads to good things, and this game probably would have ended up in the live-service graveyard had it been released.

God of War Multiplayer Has Already Been Tried Before

My biggest problem with this news is the fact that PlayStation has already tried multiplayer for God of War. The last entry of the Greek era offered a multiplayer mode in 2013, but this mode was more of an add-on, a different style of gameplay to try after beating the main content.

Director Todd Papy previously stated that he intended to infuse the IP’s single-player DNA into a multiplayer mode with God of War Ascension, and the team largely succeeded with this goal. However, here lies the main problem.

The multiplayer mode, while certainly enjoyable, grew old quickly. Its charm came from the novelty of experiencing brutal and fast-paced combat in a multiplayer setting, but the initial burst of excitement only lasted so long. This is, of course, a huge problem for any live-service title.

Ultimately, the multiplayer mode ended up being a forgettable part of the IP’s worst-performing game. In my opinion, a similar experience wouldn’t be able to stand on its own today, and it would work much better as side-content for the main game akin to Ghost of Tsushima Legends.

PlayStation Must Get It Together

Concord Has Raised Major Red Flags For Games As A Service

The good news, if there is any, seems to be that PlayStation has taken Concord’s failure to heart. Reports state that the recent cancellations were a direct result of Concord flopping, encouraging the gaming giant to test its first-party lineup more thoroughly.

This should also mean that PlayStation won’t greenlight future projects on a whim just because an IP is already profitable and has a big fan following.

While this is great for the future, it only drives home the point further that the initial live-service push was a huge misfire. The Japanese gaming titan was clearly out of touch a few years ago, and recent events have made it all too clear.

Instead of returning to IPs that would be a natural fit for the GAAS (games as a service) model, like Twisted Metal, Killzone, or Motorstorm, the company is hell-bent on milking the same few franchises over and over.

I think it’s about time franchises like SOCOM and Resistance are given a chance to shine on modern platforms. While we’re at it, a new All-Stars Battle Royale featuring the new faces of the company wouldn’t be such a bad idea either.

PlayStation’s Live Service Plans Have Done Long-Term Damage To First-Party Teams

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation’s move from single-player games to live-service projects has led to eight canceled titles and limited first-party releases this generation.
  • Iconic studios like Bend and Bluepoint are underutilized, and canceled projects like a live-service God of War game have drawn fan backlash.
  • The lack of focus on first-party titles highlights wasted potential, as successful franchises like Days Gone and Resistance are sidelined for risky live-service experiments.

Just in the past generation, Sony created some of the best single-player games under the PlayStation 4. Unfortunately, that momentum was short-lived and lasted momentarily during the early stages of the PlayStation 5.

With 2025 marking almost 5 years since the console’s launch, Sony really hasn’t that first-party games compared to the plethora of releases of the last generation. Despite so many studios under its name harboring some of the best talents in the industry, a lack of first-party titles has been surprising.

This is largely due to PlayStation’s shift towards live-service models, ditching its emphasis on single-player games, which it was best known for. This generation had 12 live service projects in development, eight of which have been canceled.

Why It Matters: Fans have been complaining about the lack of first-party PlayStation games this generation. Sony has other plans, though. Their focus on live service projects has been so strong it is inadvertently harming its studios.

Turning Traditional Games Into Live-Service Projects Always Ends Badly

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Had No Reason Being A Live Service Game.

Now, being honest, I don’t really have a problem with live service games. As a matter of fact, I think that they can contribute to a game’s longevity. However, live-service games should be separate, and they should not be correlated with single-player games.

PlayStation has been doing precisely that within the past few years. Just recently, it was revealed that the gaming giant canceled two live service projects from Bend and Bluepoint Studios.

One project was a God of War game, and the other is speculated to be a live service Days Gone game. It’s mind-boggling why PlayStation even considered doing a live-service God of War game and potentially ruining one of the best gaming franchises ever.

It’s understandable if you have a game like Helldivers transition into a live service game since the first game was a multiplayer title from the beginning, and it worked in PlayStation’s favor.

However, replicating that same success isn’t as simple as applying the concept to single-player titles. It seems that PlayStation didn’t learn anything from Concord’s failure and is still wasting resources on live service games. This makes me wonder how successful Helldivers 2 had to be for PlayStation to be this greedy.

PlayStation Could Be Doing So Much More With It’s First-Party Studios

Days Gone
A Days Gone Sequel Pitch Was Rejected By PlayStation

The lack of first-party PlayStation games could be attributed to the fact that they’re wasting their resources on pointless projects. Currently, there are only 3 PlayStation first-party titles announced. From those announced titles, Ghost of Yotei is the only planned game for this year.

The gaming giant could be doing much more than investing in live service models. By assigning such projects to their first-party studios, they’re wasting their time and creativity.

Take Bend Studios, for instance; the developer known for Days Gone rejected a sequel pitch from PlayStation. Days Gone is a solid first-party PlayStation game and has demanded a sequel from many fans, including me, over the years.

They’ve also previously worked on the Resistance games, a decent FPS franchise from PlayStation that could’ve rivaled Call of Duty given the proper treatment.

In my opinion, Bluepoint Studios receives the worst treatment from PlayStation.

The studio is best known for Shadow of the Colossus Remake, an extremely underrated title in PlayStation’s catalog. They were also behind Demon’s Souls remake, another solid title to support PlayStation 5’s launch.

Moreover, they supported the development of God of War Ragnarok and the original Titanfall game.

However, they’ve only released two games in the past two generations. The only title they were tasked with was a live-service God of War game. Despite the studio being functional, they will again be tasked with development support, or it will be a while before they develop a game.

PlayStation has so much talent at hand, and they refuse to utilize it at all. Even the Bungie acquisition proved to be futile as the company is further shrinking.

I just hope that PlayStation realizes the potential of its studios before it’s too late. The eight canceled projects don’t indicate that they’ve run out of resources.

PS6 Rumor Hints at AMD Zen 5 SoC With X3D Cache Technology

Story Highlight
  • Sony’s next-generation PlayStation, likely released in 2027, will use an AMD processor featuring 3D V-Cache technology.
  • The processor will also incorporate Zen 5 CPU cores and UDNA GPU architecture.
  • AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology will be a key component in the PlayStation 6’s APU.

Zhang, an insider, claims that Sony Corporation has chosen the processor configuration for the upcoming PlayStation. The APU in the next generation of PlayStation will be based on 3D V-Cache technology.

In a recent post on Chiphell, a leaker hinted that Sony would “stack 3D to improve the performance of both CPU and GPU” on the platform, most likely the PlayStation 6.

Why it matters: The PlayStation 6 will likely offer faster load times, smoother gameplay, and better overall gaming experiences by using 3D V-Cache technology and new GPU architecture.

Source: Chiphell

AMD sells processors based on this technology under the X3D brand, which is regarded as the best gaming chip. By using 3D V-Cache technology, AMD can considerably boost its processor’s cache memory, which improves gaming performance.

Furthermore, with AMD’s last RDNA architecture, RDNA 4, powering the company’s future desktop Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs, the new UDNA GPU architecture is supposedly what will power Sony’s next-generation PS6 system.

According to recent speculation, the AMD next-generation APU that will power Sony’s next PlayStation 6 system will combine Zen 5 CPU cores, X3D cache, and UDNA GPU architecture.

Although Microsoft has reportedly yet to decide whether its next-generation console will require 3D V-Cache, it will most likely be based on AMD technology. However, the company might take a different approach to competing with its rivals.

While the next generation of consoles has yet to be confirmed, the PlayStation 6 will likely be released in 2027.

PlayStation Has Wasted Bluepoint’s Potential With Live Service Development

Story Highlight
  • Bluepoint had been working on a live-service God of War project for four years, but the game was recently cancelled.
  • This cancellation will likely result in the developer doing nothing substantial for the rest of the PS5’s lifespan.
  • Ultimately, the live-service push has significantly harmed the developer, and it deserves to work on something brand new in the future.

The PlayStation Studios umbrella consists of juggernauts like Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, and Guerrilla Games, but living in their shadow are many studios that often go underappreciated despite their massive talents.

While Bluepoint’s name is no stranger to fans, it’s fair to say that this studio has yet to find a place alongside other PlayStation giants. This is precisely why I and many others were so excited when the team finally confirmed it was working on an original project after Demon’s Souls Remake.

Until recently, the studio had been relegated to working on re-releases, quickly developing a reputation as the remaster team. Much like Nixxes is great at churning out PC ports for PlayStation, Bluepoint excelled at bringing titles like the Uncharted Trilogy, the God of War Collection, and most recently, Demon’s Souls to life on new hardware.

It’s a shame, then, that this team fell victim to PlayStation’s live-service plans, leading to four years of wasted development on a needless God of War project.

Why it matters: Many major developers have suffered one way or another in recent years after failing to break into the GAAS (games as a service market).

A History of Excellence

Demon's Souls Remake
Demon’s Souls Remake Continues To Be An Incredible Addition To The PS5 Library

The team has more than proved itself in the past. Whether through Uncharted’s impressive translation to the vastly different architecture of the PS4 or full-blown remakes like Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, there is little room for doubt regarding this studio’s talents.

Sure, one could argue that Bluepoint dropped the ball with the subtle nuances of Demon’s Souls’ art direction, but on a purely technical level, the remake was nothing short of incredible for a PS5 launch title.

It remains a looker all these years later, sparking demand for a PC port. Given the opportunity to make an original project, Bluepoint could have truly come into its own, presenting ideas and visions representing its core identity.

For the longest time, the team was expected to be working on a new project. Because of its history of working with single-player titles, many naturally expected this project to be a new single-player IP.

Little did we know that the studio had been caught up in the nefarious live-service trend-chasing that has led to the downfall of numerous developers in recent years.

A Major Setback

PlayStation Live Service
The Live-Service Curse Continues To Haunt PlayStation

God of War is the least obvious pick for a PlayStation franchise turned live-service juggernaut, so I fail to see how Bluepoint ended up in this situation. Many have speculated that the team initially began work on remakes or remasters of the original God of War trilogy and later pivoted to a new project with the same assets.

How the studio ended up here doesn’t really matter at this point, but the effects of this cancellation will haunt the team for many years to come. For starters, modern AAA development cycles practically guarantee that Bluepoint’s next game won’t come out until the PS6 era.

This would lead to a nearly decade-long gap between two releases. Also, Bluepoint is only a fraction of the size of teams like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica. The former currently employs over 400 developers, partially mitigating the impacts of its own live-service fallout from 2023.

Where Naughty Dog had Intergalactic in the works alongside The Last of Us Multiplayer, Bluepoint likely could not afford the same luxuries. However you put it, the situation is bleak.

What’s Next?

Killzone and Resistance From PlayStation
Bluepoint Could Lead The Charge In Reviving Dormant PlayStation Franchises

This leaves us with the question of where this first-party developer can go next. There are only two real choices: the studio can either return to the comfort zone of re-releases or work on a new IP.

The former seems more likely, considering that PlayStation seems to currently have a fondness for re-releases, and they help keep the business afloat. A re-release would also guarantee a relatively shorter development time, allowing the developer to churn out a new game sooner rather than later.

Games like Bloodborne and the God of War trilogy would be obvious picks for the remake treatment, allowing Bluepoint to get started on development without much downtime after the recent cancellation.

However, as much as I would like to see any of these games returning, I think it’s time for Bluepoint to finally make something new. Toward that end, there’s a third option that the developer can pick.

PlayStation has confirmed its intent to bring back various classic IPs, and Bluepoint could experiment with any of these franchises. Much like Toys For Bob has taken over the mantle of Crash Bandicoot from Naughty Dog, this PlayStation team could work on Jak & Daxter, Killzone, or any of the other dormant franchises that deserve to return.

The Blood Of Dawnwalker Director Says Devs Left CDPR Because ‘They Had Crazy Ideas’

Story Highlight
  • The Blood of Dawnwalker director claims the team left CDPR to create Rebel Wolves because of its crazy ideas.
  • The studio wants to evolve the RPG genre and take risks that CDPR would not have accepted.
  • The game is going to utilize interesting mechanics like using time as a resource and much more.

The Blood of Dawnwalker has suddenly become one of the most anticipated upcoming RPGs for many gamers. The entry—being developed by the former Witcher 3 director—is set in medieval Europe with dark fantasy infused with sandbox elements.

Therefore, fans are excitedly looking forward to more news and tidbits from the new studio, Rebel Wolves.

Now, the Blood of Dawnwalker director has revealed that the team broke off from CDPR exactly to create a title willing to take risks and evolve the genre altogether.

Why it matters: The developers involved with The Blood of Dawnwalker wanted to experiment with crazy ideas that CDPR might not have accepted. So, the Witcher 3 director created Rebel Wolves to develop a unique RPG project.

The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood Of Dawnwalker is a new vampire RPG being helmed by former CDPR developers.

In an interview with PC Gamer, Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz explains that he left CDPR to pursue unorthodox and ‘crazy ideas’ that it might have been hesitant about.

I feel that those things, those rules of RPG games, can be expanded and evolved.

-Konrad Tomaszkiewicz

Taking huge risks that might not work in the end made it essential for the developer team to create its branding. Additionally, Tomaszkiewicz believes that working alongside a small team is much better because of easier communication.

it would be hard to convince any big company—you know, with non-IP—to change, and do something new, and do something crazy.

-Konrad Tomaszkiewicz

The Blood of Dawnwalker uses unique elements like making time a resource that needs to be managed wisely to complete quests. The main quest spans 30 in-game days and nights.

Capcom Should Top Its Winning Streak Off With Dino Crisis Remake

Story Highlight
  • The latest reason to love Capcom manifests in the form of Onimusha and Okami.
  • However, after everything, Dino Crisis is still nowhere to be seen.
  • With Capcom’s popularity at a good spot right now, it’s the perfect time to seal the deal with Dino Crisis.

I usually reminisce about video gaming of the past, how it pioneered and experimented with ideas considered bizarre back then but are the norm now. These flashbacks have become a lot more frequent lately because quite frankly, video gaming today is exactly the opposite of this.

In pursuit of photorealistic visuals and blockbuster-level cinematics, we’ve forgotten what made gaming great. However, all hope is not lost. Even today, certain developers are committed to providing a fascinating gaming experience, and one of them is Capcom.

Why it matters: Capcom continues to reward its fans with exciting games, but the one thing we most desperately want still eludes us; Dino Crisis deserves just as much a chance.

Onimusha And Okami, Surprise Of A Decade

There are a lot of reasons to love Capcom, and I’m not talking about only past achievements. Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter continue to go extremely strong, and the recent Kunitsu-Gami was a solid breath of fresh air. Couple that with its past works, and you’ve got a brilliant developer.

However, if you loved Capcom before, wait till you hear the latest happening. In an extremely shocking reveal, Capcom has brought not one but two highly beloved and sought-after IPs: Onimusha and Okami.

Still can't believe my eyes (Image by Steam)
Still can’t believe my eyes. (Image by Steam)

I don’t even know which of these two to call the more jaw-dropping one, as I was equally certain neither of them would appear, but here we are. The unbelievably unique mythological tale of Okami with a beautiful art style, or the samurai action journey that set the foundation of the genre and many of its conventions; Capcom’s on a roll.

Capcom, you've done it again (Image by Steam)
Capcom, you’ve done it again. (Image by Steam)

It has honestly given me a lot more reason to revere Capcom. I love Onimusha to death, and a continuation after all this time is a dream come true and don’t even get me started on Okami. Both of these reveals in the same event? Capcom was going for the kill no holds barred.

Seemingly no Resident Evil but we got Onimusha and a new Ōkami by Kamiya

Dino Crisis Stares From Afar

After two back-to-back treats, you must think I’m one ungrateful guy when I say that I wish Dino Crisis was among these revivals. Call me whatever you will, but I’ve waited too long not to voice my concern at this critical point. If Onimusha can return, the Dino Crisis fan in me says start hoping once again.

All that's left is Dino Crisis (Image by IMBD)
All that’s left is Dino Crisis. (Image by IMBD)

Capcom crafted an absolute masterpiece of a survival horror in Dino Crisis. From the authentic bleeding wounds to the horrifying, screeching dinosaurs and engaging gameplay, Dino Crisis is Capcom at its finest, and it would be a damn shame to let this feat die off.

Not only did Capcom do splendid work in the past, but its current remake prowess is practically unrivaled. A remake of the quality Capcom produces is hard to replicate, and Dino Crisis is a prime candidate for it. I wish to see Capcom bring back this gem with the same ingenuity it does Resident Evil, and it can take my money no questions asked.

I wish they'd remake this franchise
by inplaystation

Capcom has the means to do it, and there’s ample demand. So what’s the holdup?

Strike While The Iron’s Hot, Capcom

As I mentioned, there’s no shortage when it comes to demand. If you recall, Capcom issued surveys in the past, trying to gauge the intensity of fans’ feelings towards some of its dormant franchises. And as per my memory, Dino Crisis was at the top of the list

It has been 21 years since the last Dino Crisis game
byu/FederalTraffic inDinoCrisis

Don’t get me wrong, Onimusha and Okami are beyond incredible franchises and I can’t be happier for their return, but Dino Crisis has them beat when it comes to insane demand by the dedicated fanbase. If Capcom thought the backing for the prior two was enough to warrant a revival, it should have no qualms with Dino Crisis then.

So, here’s an idea. Give Dino Crisis a chance. The timing is especially ripe now. Everyone’s singing Capcom’s praises, what with Street Fighter 6’s collabs, Monster Hunter Wilds almost here, and now the shockingly pleasant reveals. So much so that they’ve momentarily forgotten the excruciating pain of waiting for years.

Capcom’s already on a roll, but that’s no reason not to aim for even greater heights. People are exhilarated, they’ll essentially die of happiness if Dino Crisis appears now. Their faith in Capcom will be revived, and that’s great news for the company. I can assure you that Dino Crisis will sell like hotcakes, Capcom just needs to give it a chance.

Ex-PlayStation Boss Says Players Should Support Remakes To Get New Titles

Story Highlight
  • Ex-PlayStation boss says remakes and remasters don’t deserve the criticism they get.
  • They generate a lot of revenue as they don’t require massive development budgets.
  • The revenue of these games can lead to new first-party titles from PlayStation.

Remasters and remakes have been vital to PlayStation this generation. Games like The Last of Us, Horizon, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and others have seen remakes, which fans often criticize as something nobody asked for.

Notably, there have been very few new first-party titles for PlayStation 5 and the former PlayStation boss has talked about why. He says the growing costs of developing new games make remakes necessary.

Why it matters: PlayStation 5 hasn’t had a lot of exclusive first-party releases which is a major departure from how Sony normally does things. Even for the PS4, there were plenty of notable releases.

Talking to Kinda Funny Games, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida discussed how he hears a lot of criticism from fans regarding PlayStation’s remakes. He said he thinks the company isn’t sacrificing anything, as the remakes take a lot of effort, too.

For big single-player games, they (Fans) should support Hermen doing these porting and remasters so that he can keep investing in these great new games.

– Shuhei Yoshida

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Bombed On Steam
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered was heavily criticized as an unwanted release.

The remakes are generally cheaper to develop and have the potential to generate a lot of revenue. This revenue can then be invested into new big titles therefore fans should support them. The remakes and remasters can lead to new first-party titles.

Yoshida recently also talked about how he was against the live-service push from PlayStation. Years later, it seems like Sony should’ve gone with this, based on Concord’s failure and cancellation of multiple live service games.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Preview Impressions Are Quite Positive Ahead of Embargo

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows preview impressions from some creators ahead of the embargo have been quite favorable.
  • Remarks suggest that it is far better than Odyssey and Valhalla, with a compelling story, at least in the first chapter.
  • Rumors suggest that the embargo by Ubisoft will finally lift on January 23 despite the recent release delay.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been coated with controversy ever since it was announced. Many elements, like historical inaccuracies, cultural sensitivity, and Yasuke’s depiction, have caused plenty of backlash. Therefore, all the forecasts so far have led many to believe that the upcoming RPG would perform poorly.

However, a new report suggests that we are possibly looking at one of the better Assassin’s Creed releases in many years. Many AC Shadows preview impressions from some creators ahead of the embargo have been quite positive.

Why it matters: The positive impressions suggest the game might hold up much better than current controversies have led us to believe.

Luis Conde shared his hands-on experience with AC Shadows.
Portuguese streamer Luis Conde shared his hands-on experience with AC Shadows.

The Taiwanese streamer Shuteye_Orange claimed in his preview impression that AC Shadows is a much better entry than Valhalla and Odyssey, which is a massive claim. He wasn’t interested in the RPG before playing, but the experience completely changed his mind.

The game’s first chapter, at least, is apparently pretty fun to experience, with Yasuke having funny dialogues since he struggles to understand Japanese after arriving in Japan.

The Portuguese streamer Luis Conde also dubbed the hands-on experience ‘impressive’ after having a go at the preview build for a full morning.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows pre-orders have been pretty poor compared to Valhalla.

Despite the recent release delay to March 20, the AC Shadows preview embargo is expected to be lifted on January 23, 2025. So, we can expect to learn much more in the future. Until then, take these impressions with a grain of salt.

Do you think Assassin’s Creed Shadows will fare much better than recent entries in the franchise? Will the pre-launch controversy affect the game’s sales? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

Dragon Age Veilguard Director Leaves EA After Disappointing Attempt At Series Revival

Story Highlight
  • Corinne Busche is moving on from EA and BioWare after nearly two decades.
  • A leaked email reveals that the director behind Dragon Age: The Veilguard will continue making RPGs.
  • This departure could lead to a huge shift for the next Mass Effect title.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard has gone down as one of last year’s biggest disappointments. Despite anticipation and excitement over BioWare’s gaming comeback, the RPG failed to make a splash and failed to live up to the modern standards set by the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3.

In the aftermath, it seems the director is set to depart from BioWare, highlighting once again how disappointing this RPG was for EA and BioWare.

Why it matters: The director had been a part of BioWare for nearly two decades, so this departure is nothing short of a huge deal.

View post on imgur.com

The information comes via a leaked email from Corinne Busche, the director behind BioWare’s latest RPG. As per the email, the developer is moving on to a different project and will continue to focus on making RPGs.

While this departure has yet to be officially announced, reliable insider Jeff Grubb has also corroborated the news. In his latest tweet, the insider confirmed Corinne Busche is set to leave BioWare.

Moreover, he addressed reports about BioWare Edmonton potentially being shut down. Grubb states that this rumor may not be true, but the story is still developing, with more details coming up with each passing hour.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Following Dragon Age: The Veilguard, All Eyes Are On Mass Effect

As said earlier, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was far from a critical or commercial hit. Corinne Busche also addressed the game’s underwhelming performance, citing an online hate campaign against the title.

Ultimately, this departure could fundamentally change BioWare as the team prepares to speed up development on the next Mass Effect. Whether this will be a good thing, however, is anybody’s guess for now.

What are your thoughts on Corinne Busche’s exit? Let us know in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

GeForce RTX 5090 Availability Will Be ‘Extremely Tight’ At Launch

Story Highlight
  • Nvidia will control the distribution of its new GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics cards, setting strict requirements and specifications for the market launch.
  • Business-to-business (B2B) dealers and local wholesale distributors might not receive any stock.
  • Consumers hoping to buy a GeForce RTX 5090 or 5080 at launch will face high competition from scalpers and bots.

According to insider news, Nvidia will decide who receives a GeForce RTX 5090 or 5080. Nvidia has established relatively strict requirements and specs for the market launch of its first two Blackwell graphics cards.

When Nvidia’s new GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards are released into the market, the supply is expected to be limited, especially for the GeForce RTX 5090.

Why it matters: The limited supply and strict distribution of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 graphics cards will be challenging for consumers looking to upgrade their systems.

Source: PCGH

As a result, Nvidia chooses the precise location and suppliers for the launch of the GeForce RTX 50 series. It’s possible that B2B dealers and the local wholesale industry as a whole, which mostly caters to business clients, will leave empty-handed.

The success of buying a GeForce RTX 5090 or GeForce RTX 5080 is probably going to be up to chance. So, anyone wanting to get a GeForce RTX 5090 or 5080 at launch must queue up online.

That said, scalpers and bots will probably also get involved here. The quantities that can be purchased will probably be limited to a maximum of one unit. We might be looking at another RTX 30 series launch situation.

The best way to get your hands on it will probably be directly from Nvidia at launch. However, most buyers will rely on resellers such as Amazon and Newegg later on and are expected to pay a premium for early adopters.
