Current Price💲636💲114056.8%

As for pricing, the RX 9070 is currently (mid-March 2025) 56.8% cheaper than the RX 7900 XT. However, the RX 9070 is a recent release, so its price might increase even further. If it increases with the same margin that it had for the RX 7900 XT in the past, there’s a high chance it’ll remain below the RX 7900 XT’s price.

Final Verdict—What We Recommend?

RX 7900 XT: This card is among AMD’s top contentors and still holds its value even after over two years. Not only does it still offer great gaming performance, but it also offers high-performance in productivity. Yes, it lags behind in AI tasks. However, its price has greatly impressed us because it isn’t sky-high.

RX 9070: This is one of AMD’s best releases. It has high gaming and productivity performance, comes with a new architecture, better AI features, and advanced FSR 4, and all of it is packed at a relatively lower price, making it a great card with a high price-to-performance ratio.

We recommend the RX 9070 as it is a complete replacement for the RX 7900 XT. You might argue that it has lower performance comparatively, but if you put its price into perspective, it becomes an incredibly valuable card. Yes, if its price increases to a point where it loses its value, you can go with the RX 7900 XT.

Sony Patents To Create Custom Recaps Of Missed Gameplay Events If Player Stops Paying Attention

Story Highlight
  • Sony has published a new patent that discusses creating custom flashback sequences or highlight reels of missed gameplay events.
  • If a player stops paying attention or does not understand what to focus on in the game, the system can help them catch up.
  • Sony might use the camera to spy on players to ensure their attention is on the game, creating custom recaps if they lose focus.

Nowadays, developers have been working to make gaming as convenient as possible for players, with most games almost hand-holding through the entire process. Now, a new patent wants to ensure players with low attention spans can keep up with gameplay.

We’ve found a new patent by Sony that wants to create custom recaps of missed gameplay events if a player stops paying attention or does not know where to focus. These custom recaps can be flashback sequences, highlight reels, etc.

Sony wants to ensure that gamers can quickly understand and catch up on the content they have missed before moving on to the rest of the game.

a service […] can provide customized summaries when a trigger is detected that indicates that the player may have missed one or more events or actions during gameplay. […] The summary may […] include generating a custom flashback sequence.

Why it matters: The new Sony patent wants to ensure that disabled or confused gamers can also keep up with in-game events by being able to view custom recaps at any given time during gameplay.

The image shows a gameplay example of a generated, customized summary of virtual actions and events.
The image shows a gameplay example of a generated, customized summary of virtual actions and events.

The patent dubbed ‘GENERATING CUSTOMIZED SUMMARIES OF VIRTUAL ACTIONS AND EVENTS’ discusses using a camera to keep notice of the player’s gaze to ensure that they stay focused on the game. When the player loses attention and misses out on important events, the system can kick in to create a custom recap.

Sony claims cinematic games can be challenging for players with attention-deficit disorders, disabilities, or limited gaming experience, making it harder for them to enjoy the experience. So, custom recaps can solve these dilemmas.

In many interactive media titles, there may be a number of actions and events that happen at the same time or over a period of time during which the player was not paying attention to an important story arch or gameplay moment.

The image shows a flowchart for generating a customized summary of virtual actions and events.

Sony also discusses letting players share these custom recaps with each other to assist in understanding a game better. However, it remains to be seen how or if this patent will even be implemented.

Sony has also secured various unique ideas over the years, including a patent for players to assist others in real-time by combining inputs during gameplay and a new controller with swappable buttons to let players customize layouts.

Do you think Sony’s new feature to create custom recap cutscenes will help players catch up with missed gameplay events? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Ubisoft Reportedly Planning To Sell Assassin’s Creed And Other Premium Franchises

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft is looking to sell a minor stake in a new venture in exchange for key assets like Assassin’s Creed.
  • The company has been in contact with potential buyers, including Tencent.
  • Funds from France are also in-line to help the gaming giant in its future.

Ubisoft has been going through a rough patch for quite some time now with consistent layoffs and declining revenues, putting the company in jeopardy. The gaming giant is relying heavily on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows to be its saving grace, but with negative press stamped on the RPG, things aren’t looking great.

Ubisoft has been looking for outside investment for quite some time with rumors even suggesting the company might be sold to a bigger enterprise. Now, recent reports from Bloomberg have confirmed that the Assassin’s Creed creator is in fact inviting bids and giving up control of some major IPs.

Why This Matters: One of gaming’s biggest companies falling in such an economic mess should be a lesson for other companies.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has high hopes from fans and Ubisoft alike

A new division of Ubisoft is looking for some investors that will include control of the company’s premium IPs. This new venture from Ubisoft SA contains franchises like Assassin’s Creed and the gaming powerhouse is willing to sell a minority stake to any willing bidders.

Chinese gaming giant Tencent, which is a shareholder in the company, has already been contacted by Ubisoft to make a bid and funds are also being raised from France and elsewhere. Hence, from the looks of it, Ubisoft is ready to give up control of some key assets to fund its future and ensure smooth progression into its plans.

Taking into account what the company has been going through recently, it’s not really surprising to see Ubisoft take this route. A company Email from a few months ago revealed that the publisher was on the verge of bankruptcy and didn’t have its financials in order.

Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones was a failure of unimaginable proportions for the country

Add to this the lies Ubisoft has been feeding to its shareholders and the gigantic failure of its first AAAA title, Skull & Bones, outside investment seems like the best chance of survival for the French-based studio.

Minecraft Live 2025: Is A New Game On The Horizon?

Story Highlights
  • Minecraft Live 2025 scheduled on March 22 will reveal game updates and developer insights with smaller, frequent updates strategy.
  • Rumors suggest a possible new game, Project Spicewood, may be announced, along with behind-the-scenes content from the Minecraft movie.
  • Fans can watch the event live on YouTube, Twitch, and the official Minecraft website for exclusive reveals.

Minecraft fans, get ready! Mojang, the creator of Minecraft, has announced that Minecraft Live 2025 will take place on March 22, 2025, just two weeks before the Minecraft movie is set to release. This annual event showcases new updates, features, and projects related to the game.

Minecraft Live is one of the biggest events of the year for Minecraft fans. With the live-action Minecraft movie, rumors of a possible new game, and new Minecraft content updates, this event is expected to be full of exciting news.

What Could Be Announced At The Event

The Minecraft Movie's main cast
The Minecraft Movie’s Main Cast

One of the most exciting rumors about Minecraft Live 2025 is the possibility of a new game. According to Beebom, leaks suggest Mojang has been secretly working on a project called Project Spicewood for two years. This project could introduce new biomes and adventure-filled locations, possibly even a Minecraft Dungeons sequel.

Minecraft Dungeons was an action RPG spin-off of Minecraft that introduced dungeon-crawling gameplay instead of the usual sandbox experience. While Mojang hasn’t confirmed anything yet, if the leaks are true, Minecraft Live 2025 will be the perfect place for Mojang to finally reveal this game.

Another big thing happening in 2025 is the live-action Minecraft movie, set to release on April 4. Minecraft Live 2025 is scheduled just two weeks before the movie hits theatres, so there is a high chance that Mojang will showcase the movie trailer and behind-the-scenes content at the event.

The movie has a star-studded cast, including Jack Black as Steve, Jason Momoa, and Danielle Brooks. It is directed by Jared Hess, the filmmaker behind Napoleon Dynamite. While many fans disliked the trailer, which was released on September 4, 2024, Minecraft Live 2025 may give everyone a better idea of what to expect.

Minecraft Mob Vote Is Gone

One more important thing to note is that the Minecraft Mob Vote is gone on September 9, 2024. Previously, the Mob Vote was a major part of Minecraft Live, where fans voted for a new mob to be added to the game. However, many players were unhappy with how the Mob Vote worked.

Some believed certain YouTubers influenced the results, while others thought all mobs should be added instead of just one. After a 2023 petition calling for the Mob Vote to be removed, Mojang decided to end it. Now that the vote is gone, fans are happy not to see it again.

Along with retiring the mob vote, Mojang has decided to change its game update strategy starting in 2025. Instead of releasing one huge update in the summer as Mojang previously used to do, Minecraft will receive smaller, more regular updates throughout the year.

This strategy is beneficial for players, as they no longer have to wait long for new content. However, the exact information of the new content will only be revealed by watching the event. There could be new blocks, biomes, or even a major gameplay change that will shape Minecraft’s future in 2025 and beyond.

2025: A Huge Year For Minecraft

With new game content, developer insights, and broader Minecraft updates, the event will showcase never-before-seen features. Moreover, the after-show, called The Deep Dig, will feature first playthroughs, developer discussions, and mystery guests. The Minecraft movie may also start ticket sales during the event.

If you want to watch Minecraft Live 2025 live, you can tune in on March 22, 2025, at these times: 10 AM PST, 1 PM EST, and 5 PM GMT. The event will be streamed on YouTube, Twitch, and the official Minecraft website.

The event will be available in English (with ASL and BSL interpretations). After the event, subtitles will be added in other languages as well. In case you miss it, you can catch up later, as Mojang usually uploads the full stream and highlights.

Minecraft Live 2025 will likely give fans a lot to look forward to, whether it’s big game updates, a new spin-off, or fresh movie previews. Stay tuned for more updates, and get ready to explore everything Minecraft Live 2025 has in store!

GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 Are Listed For $499 and $449 in China

Story Highlight
  • The GeForce RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are reportedly listed in China, with the RTX 5060 featuring 12 GB of VRAM.
  • RTX 5060 12GB is listed for ¥3,799 ($524), while the RTX 5060 Ti is priced at ¥4,299 ($597).
  • Without the 21% VAT, the prices are $499 and $449 for 5060 Ti and 5060 respectively.

Although Nvidia has not unveiled its mid-range graphics cards, VideoCardz claims that the GeForce RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti are already listed in China.

This is also the first time the GeForce RTX 5060 has been listed with 12 GB of VRAM, though by an unidentified Chinese retailer. Either Nvidia intends to segment the midrange market further, or this is a misprint.

Why it matters: The launch of the GeForce RTX 5060, especially with the 12 GB VRAM version, could affect consumer decisions as more affordable graphics cards become available for gamers.

Source: Videocardz

In China, the GeForce RTX 5060 12GB is listed for ¥3,799 ($524), while the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is said to cost ¥4,299 ($597). That said, take it with a grain of salt because the information is from an unofficial and anonymous source.

This is especially true given that the prices of the GeForce RTX 5060 series appear to be much higher than the MSRPs of the much more powerful GeForce RTX 5070. On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is expected to have an MSRP of $499 if we remove the 21% VAT.

All things considered, there is no reason to speculate about pricing on the mid-range option, as Nvidia is anticipated to release its GeForce RTX 5060-series in the next few days.

The market will be filled with graphics cards worth between $400 and $500 this year. However, mid-range options with more than 8 GB of memory are expected to be in high demand, considering the requirement of current-generation games.

AMD Dubs RX 9070 GPUs Major Success; Says Launch Has Been “Milestone Moment”

Story Highlight
  • AMD has been very happy with the RDNA 4 launch, calling it a milestone for its graphics business.
  • The gaming giant is currently focused on restocking as many units as possible.
  • It also hopes to cover all market segments this generation, teasing even more affordable GPUs.

AMD’s recently launched GPUs have made quite the splash in the market, reportedly selling over 2x as many units as Nvidia’s RTX 50 series. Despite reported stock problems and pricing challenges, AMD described the RX 9070 and 9070 XT as major successes.

According to the company, this has been an unprecedented launch for its graphics cards division.

Why it matters: AMD has historically struggled to gain market share with its GPUs in the PC gaming market, but the tide appears to be shifting this generation.

Speaking on the Hot Hardware podcast, AMD CVP David McAfee addressed the recent launch of RDNA 4 into the market. He described the demand for these GPUs as unprecedented, sharing plans of working with retailers to restock as many units as possible.

David McAfee also called this launch period a milestone for AMD’s graphics card business. This is no small feat since the gaming giant has been in the industry for multiple decades and has produced many fan-favorite options in the past.

The launch of RDNA 4 was really a milestone event for our graphics business. Demand was very, very strong all around the world.

AMD intends to produce enough stock at MSRP to allow users to buy these GPUs at their preferred prices. Toward that end, retailers and AIBs are also working to ship consumers as much stock as possible.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
The RX 9070 XT Has Been Praised For Its Value Proposition

David McAfee shared that AMD intends to cover all market segments with RDNA 4. As such, future GPUs like the RX 9060 XT will be priced lower, with even cheaper options potentially arriving later.

On the other hand, Nvidia has also provided encouraging comments about the Blackwell gaming lineup’s release.

It states that more RTX 50 series GPUs have been sold during the first few weeks compared to the last-generation RTX 40 series launch. All things considered, it seems both gaming giants are doing better than ever in the graphics card market.

Silent Hill f PC Requirements Confirm Optimized PC Port; Recommends Ryzen 5 5500 & RTX 2080

Story Highlight
  • Silent Hill f PC requirements point towards a very well-optimized port.
  • Requires just an RTX 2080 with Ryzen 5 5500 for 1080p without any upscaling.
  • This is certainly commendable, as the RTX 2080 is an almost 8-year-old GPU.

Silent Hill f is the latest game in the critically acclaimed franchise. Announced in 2022, the title got its first stunning trailer yesterday, showcasing its Japanese setting. Fortunately, it seems that the port will also be well-optimized.

Steam PC requirements show that Silent Hill f recommends an RTX 2080 paired with a Ryzen 5 5500 for native 1080p for 30 FPS on quality settings and 60 FPS with performance settings.

Why it matters: Most games these days are heavily dependent on upscaling, even for 1080p, so pushing even 30 FPS on the quality settings with an 8-year-old GPU on native settings is commendable.

Silent Hill F PC requirements
Silent Hill f PC requirements reveal a well-optimized port.

According to Steam, for quality settings at 1080p native, you can push 30 FPS on Silent Hill f. We can assume that quality might be the highest available setting. For a 60 FPS experience, you’ll have to dial down the graphics.

You can even push 4K using DLSS or other upscaling technologies, which many titles can’t certainly push using the RTX 2080 these days. For context, most releases do include upscaling while revealing the PC requirements.

Silent Hill f
Silent Hill f marks new beginnings for the franchise.

So, if you’re getting this good performance from RTX 2080, you’ll get even better performance with something even slightly better. Moreover, even a GTX 1070 Ti will let you play the title in minimum settings, and you can even use FSR for added performance.

Nonetheless, everything points toward Silent Hill f being a very well-optimized PC port. Unfortunately, Konami hasn’t officially revealed a release date or window for the title just yet.

  • Nvidia’s 4K DLSS 4 showcase highlights a staggering 350 FPS performance, with minimal visual sacrifice compared to native resolution.
  • The game runs exceptionally well, even without upscaling, with 120 FPS at 4K.

Stellar Blade is officially headed towards PC in June, almost a year after its PS5 release. Fans can expect additional content and a highly customizable graphical option for the game once it arrives on PC soon.

Ahead of its release, Nvidia has just released a 4K DLSS 4 companion video for Stellar Blade, showcasing impressive performance. The game is shown to have hit a whopping 350 FPS on 4K with DLSS 4 and Frame Gen on.

Why it matters: Stellar Blade’s DLSS 4 and Frame Generation On boost is the biggest leap we’ve ever seen in a AAA title.

Stellar Blade PC
Stellar Blade Dev Gifted Every Employee A PS5 Pro And $3.4K

Without DLSS, the game runs at 120 FPS on 4K, which is still exceptional. Those who want to enjoy the game on native resolutions will have no problem running the game without any upscaling methods.

Still, those who opt for DLSS 4 won’t see much of an image difference, as Nvidia’s latest rendition of its upscaling method brings significant image improvement over its predecessors.

Moreover, ghosting and aliasing problems have also been fixed, which rules out any possibility that the users won’t turn on this setting.

The system requirement for the game is currently unknown but is expected to be optimized, judging by these metrics. However, it’s important to note that the game is built on Unreal Engine 4. It makes sense why it runs so well, even on the consoles.

Xbox Reveals AI Sidekick That Will Help You Finish Games As Your Companion

Story Highlight
  • Xbox has revealed a new AI companion that can help you finish games by coaching you to improve your skills.
  • The AI can serve as your personal sidekick to help you grow and enjoy every bit of a game that you may miss otherwise.
  • Co-pilot for gaming has been pitched as a concept in the latest episode of the official Xbox podcast.

Xbox has unveiled a new AI companion that can help you finish games. The co-pilot for gaming is an AI sidekick that can help you adapt to gameplay by giving suggestions and providing guides, essentially helping you explore every nook and cranny of titles.

Why it matters: The co-pilot for gaming is just an AI concept for now that intends to help gamers by providing them assistance throughout gameplay.

Xbox revealed the concept for the AI during its official Xbox podcast, confirming that Microsoft was working to integrate its co-pilot into gaming. The sidekick can provide critical feedback after analyzing your fumbles during online matches or re-download a game for you.

Xbox’s Jason argued that his talks with developers confirmed that most players miss notable sidequests and other gameplay details. So, the AI can also help the player explore and experience every bit of a title.

[AI] should be able to help you kind of get further in gaming, be your companion, and help connect you with families and communities.

-Fatima Kardar, Xbox CVP of gaming AI.

And Xbox’s CVP of gaming AI jokes that the companion can chat with you and even trash talk you if that is what you really need. It can break the barrier that makes it hard for new players to connect with others and understand games.

These are just test concepts for now, but Microsoft will likely bring co-pilot for gaming as a feature later. However, the reception of gamers has been quite mixed for now.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure Led To Huge Loss For Square Enix; Sequel Now Unlikely

Story Highlight
  • Life is Strange: Double Exposure has been dubbed a major failure.
  • Following this result, Square Enix is unlikely to continue the series with another title.
  • The previous game also teased a sequel, highlighting that the team did not anticipate such a failure.

Life is Strange remains one of Square Enix’s most popular Western IPs and has made its way to all kinds of platforms, reaching the Nintendo Switch in 2023.

Last year’s Life is Strange: Double Exposure also brought back original protagonist Max Caulfield for a brand new adventure. While many enjoyed the returning cast and new stories, Square Enix now says this entry largely failed to live up to expectations.

Why it matters: The Life is Strange franchise has been one of the most prevalent in the interactive story-telling genre of games, offering various iconic stories throughout its nearly decade-long existence.

Double Exposure’s New Cast Proved Unpopular Among Fans

As per Square Enix’s latest financial report, Life is Strange: Double Exposure was a “large loss” for the company. This loss was big enough that it offset the success of the Dragon Quest 3 remaster, which performed fairly well in the market.

The most interesting part of this result is that Life is Strange: Double Exposure had a lot of excitement behind it. While recent entries in the series were based on standalone stories, this particular title was more of a true sequel to the original game.

The game’s ending also teased another follow-up with Max Caulfield, but Square Enix’s harsh comments suggest that this sequel will never see the light of day. Perhaps this is for the better since many fans did not like the direction the franchise took with Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

The same Square Enix report provided a sales update for Final Fantasy 16, confirming that the RPG has sold less than a million units since launch week. All in all, Square Enix continues to struggle with its biggest IPs.

Story Highlight
  • Valve has revealed new metrics for Steam in its 2024 report, confirming that over 500 new titles earned $250K in their first 30 days last year.
  • This metric saw a rise of 27% compared to 2023, with more than 200 titles surpassing the $1 million revenue mark.
  • Steam Deck has also been performing well, gaining 330 million hours of playtime last year, a 64% increase from 2023.

It’s no surprise that Steam has become the unquestioned hub of PC gaming over the last two decades, with a plethora of games and offers keeping players interested to no end. Now, it seems that Valve’s focus on satisfying gamers over profit-chasing has paid off yet again.

Valve has published the Steam Year in Review 2024 report, unveiling that over 500 new games earned over $250,000 in their first thirty days. This figure has grown up to 27% compared to 2023, showing that Steam is still growing massively.

Why it matters: One would expect Steam to have already hit its peak and become a stagnant market over the years, but Valve’s gamer-centric decision-making has been paying off wildly.

The report shows that over 200 new games made over $1 million in revenue during their first 30 days, rising above 15% from 2023. Additionally, new release revenue per year for games has grown nearly 10 times since the last decade.

The report also shows that the platform nearly doubled its peak concurrent users since March 2020; the active player count was presumed to stagnate after the pandemic ended, but the opposite happened.
