Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Hits 131K Concurrent Players, Sets Record for Non-FromSoftware Soulslike

Story Highlight
  • Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launched to 131K concurrent players on Steam.
  • Its peak player count is the highest for any Souls-like game not developed by FromSoftware.
  • Despite strong sales and player numbers, the game has performance issues, including low frame rates and stuttering.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers launched on July 24, 2025, on PC and current-gen consoles. Developed by China’s Leenzee Games, the game quickly hit 131,518 players at once on Steam, setting a new record for any souls-like title not made by FromSoftware.

In terms of concurrent players, it has now outperformed every Soulslike game except for Elden Ring and Black Myth: Wukong (if you count that as a soulslike).

Before this, Dark Souls 3 had the highest player count with around 129,000, while Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice peaked near 125,000. Wuchang beat both numbers within just a day of release.

Why it matters: Being the studio’s first game ever, it’s a serious achievement to hit those playercount numbers, despite the launch issues.

Wuchang also drew widespread attention via Xbox Game Pass, which added to its PC exposure.

However, not everything is going as planned for the developers. As it turns out, the game is a prime example of poorly optimised Unreal Engine 5 games. Steam reviews are mostly negative, with fewer than 25% being positive so far.

Many players are complaining about major problems like low frame rates, stuttering, and bugs, especially on Nvidia’s graphics cards. If players can play Black Myth: Wukong on mid-high settings with playable FPS, there’s no excuse for Wuchang to look and perform this poorly.

Regardless, Leenzee is expected to release patches soon, as the performance issues can likely be fixed with some optimisation. Since the studio is relatively small – around 160 developers – and the game runs on Unreal Engine 5, early technical hiccups aren’t too surprising.

The game also launched on Game Pass, giving it a wider audience. If the bugs get fixed, it could draw in even more players and hold its spot among Steam’s top sellers. Right now, it’s still one of the platform’s best-selling games, despite mixed player reactions.

The game’s Steam reviews are mostly negative.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers hitting 131K concurrent players and outdoing all non‑FromSoftware souls‑likes shows there’s demand for new, myth‑driven titles in the genre.

If Leenzee can smooth out performance, this Chinese‑myth adventure could be a true breakout, earning both numbers and praise. Have you given the game a chance? Let us know in the comments below, or join the conversation on the Tech4Gamers forum.

How to Speed Up iPhone for Gaming

Story Highlight
  • iPhone’s gaming focus means that hardware is pushed to the limits, so clutter and unorganized storage can be a big bottleneck.
  • Freeing up storage and RAM can stop slowdowns before they start.
  • Adjusting system and game settings can lead to smoother frame rates, and keeping your iPhone cool can help avoid throttling.

Mobile gaming has come a long way over the years, and Apple’s latest SoC innovations mean that those with an iPhone 15 Pro or newer can enjoy AAA experiences on the go with incredible ease.

Games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil Village, despite their drawbacks, highlight just how appealing the portable gaming experience on iPhones has become. However, because the tiny device is limited by its form factor, squeezing every bit of performance out of your phone is incredibly important, making it essential to optimize iPhone performance.

Why it matters: Apple’s focus on gaming is only getting started, and the iPhone is expected to see more and more AAA releases moving forward. Therefore, it is important to prepare for such titles.

How to Increase FPS on iPhone

Resident Evil Village iPhone 15 Pro
Resident Evil Village Running on iPhone 15 Pro

It’s no secret that the in-game frame rate on the iPhone is not comparable to the PC or console counterparts.

Because the smartphone can suffer from thermal management issues, bottlenecks, and more, it’s important to ensure that games can make the most of Apple’s impressive hardware at all times.

Even the latest iPhones can drop frames if the heat becomes unmanageable, but there is still some good news. Thanks to a few quick adjustments, things are fairly easy to turn around.

Free Resources To Optimize iPhone Performance

iPhone Storage
Managing Storage Is Important To Keep Your iPhone Healthy

One general fix to the problem involves clearing space and killing background tasks before touching anything else.

It’s always a good idea to turn off Background App Refresh since this stops inactive apps from consuming RAM while you’re gaming. Background App Refresh can be found in the General tab in the Settings section.

Similarly, checking iPhone Storage from the General tab in Settings is always a good idea. If storage is already tight, removing unused apps, particularly those that take up a lot of storage, always helps.

iPhone Clever Cleaner
iPhone Clever Cleaner Can Organize Your Storage for Smoother Operations

If you still struggle to cut the fat, consider using one of the iPhone cleaning apps. These usually find a lot of clutter and clean things up automatically. For example, Clever Cleaner can remove duplicate and similar images from your library using AI-based algorithms.

It can also delete screenshots, discover your largest files, and even compress Live Photos to free up space. That should free up several gigabytes of storage, and you can then look at other performance throttles.

Flip The Right Switch

iPhone Low Power Mode
Keep Low Power Mode Turned Off For Smooth Gaming

It’s no secret that iOS doesn’t always prioritize speed by default, and some features trade performance for visuals, battery life, or background activity. This isn’t a massive problem for daily use, but not ideal when you’re trying to keep Assassin’s Creed Mirage running at full speed.

As mentioned earlier, turning off Background App Refresh alone can free up a noticeable chunk of memory while gaming. However, there are a few more settings worth adjusting.

Enabling Reduce Motion in the Motion tab within the Accessibility settings can strip out most of the UI animations. Although this doesn’t sound like much, it adds up. Low Power Mode is another one to keep an eye on.

While it’s great for battery life, it actively limits your iPhone’s CPU and GPU. Therefore, it’s best to keep it turned off, and you can always turn it back on later. Some people recommend Low Power Mode as a workaround for better temperature management, but this setting is best avoided since it impacts frame rates despite keeping the heat down.

Optimize Graphics And Keep The Heat In Check

It’s also worth noting that various games have their own graphical settings that can be adjusted. Genshin Impact, for instance, offers the choice between performance and quality modes. Choosing the latter is better when attempting to maximize frame rates.

It drops a few visual effects but provides a much smoother experience. Also, recent tests show that iPhones can actually struggle with games like Genshin Impact when everything is pushed as high as possible.

Terrible stutters and overheating are common when you crank every setting to the highest. Setting the game to favor performance keeps frame rates stable and heat levels under control.

Of course, heat is another frame rate killer that needs to be dealt with. Even the A17 Pro can lead to system throttling once temperatures become unbearable.

One solution is to remove your phone case before an intense gaming session. Moreover, avoiding direct sunlight when gaming and lowering the brightness can also help keep the heat under control.

Where To Find Hidden Secrets In Blox Fruits

Story Highlight
  • Blox Fruits is currently one of the most popular Roblox games.
  • It offers various cleverly hidden secret items, quests, and more.
  • Finding these secrets usually requires careful examination of the surroundings and using advanced gameplay mechanics.

Games like Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite are among the most-played titles in the industry today. All three titles offer plenty of opportunities for gamers to express their creativity, and Roblox takes things one step further.

Because Roblox serves as a platform for all types of experiences within the game itself, young audiences remain interested in the title. One popular game within Roblox is Blox Fruits, which is famous for its hidden items and tucked-away quests.

Because these items can be challenging to discover, players who spend time finding them are eventually rewarded with powerful equipment and rare abilities.

Why it matters: Exploring is a key part of the Blox Fruits experience since it can give players an edge over the competition.

Secret Locations and Spots

Blox Fruits
Blox Fruits Has Secrets Waiting To Be Found

Blox Fruits has no shortage of secret locations. Great Tree Island has a cleverly hidden crack in the floor that players often use to get under the map when looking to avoid confrontation, and the side doors in Frozen Village can be slipped right through to access a small hidden chamber.

Similarly, Marine Fortress hides a maze behind an unusual tint. Specific weapons like Dark Blade can be used to break down such walls within, something that comes in handy when working toward the Sun Quest.

Skylands is also full of secret ledges that can open up paths to extra chests and loot. In many ways, exploring secrets in Blox Fruits is like stumbling upon free Blox Fruits accounts.

NPCs And Secret Quests

Blox Fruits
The Game Has Tons of Unique Items For Those Willing To Go The Extra Mile

As mentioned earlier, Blox Fruits hosts an unlimited number of secrets, so the NPCs are also worth keeping an eye on.

For instance, the Great Tree Island hosts a lesser-known character who offers special tips and items despite not being related to the main story arcs. Elsewhere, the Saber sword requires solving an extended secret quest, which involves solving tough puzzles and beating challenging bosses.

Hidden Passages And Codes

Blox Fruits
Blox Fruits Also Brings Unique Storylines As Part of Its Secrets

Buildings like the Mansion also hide chests in tables that players tend to miss sometimes. Additionally, players can often phase through walls when approaching at a certain angle, leading to the discovery of secret loot, which some consider to be easter eggs.

The Kingdom of Rose also hides an entrance under the Colliseum’s bridge that leads to two secluded rooms, and players can engage in special storylines here. Elsewhere, specific codes can grant access to bonus rewards.

Tips For Discovering Secrets

Ultimately, it’s important to use mechanics like Flash Step, Light Fruit’s flying power, and Yoru sword’s Z skill. Similarly, revisiting older islands after updates is a good idea since the developers typically add new secrets to older locations.

As mentioned earlier, interacting with NPCs and suspicious walls is also important when trying to find all the secrets Blox Fruits has to offer. Utilizing these strategies can net players extra advantages that always come in handy.

Ever Heard Of A Wireless Gaming Microphone? Here It Is…

Story Highlights
  • The Comica Ejoy D10 Pro is not only operated via an XLR cable and a USB Type-C, but also wirelessly through a dongle.
  • It has three EQ modes, where one is a standard option, one brings out clarity in voice, best for gaming, and one brings out bass, best for podcasts.
  • Its denoise feature is also impressive. It does come with its own stand, and the mic costs only $78.

When it comes to gaming microphones, you’re always greeted with tons of options that range from various connectivity options, sound features, and lighting options, but with all of these, the price is usually a lot more than you’d expect.

Box Contents
Box Contents (Image Credits – Tech4Gamers)

But what if I tell you there is a mic that has it all, including a key feature that none of the other mics have? I’m talking about a dynamic gaming mic that is wireless. Yes, a completely great sounding no-wired mic: this is the Comica Ejoy D10 Pro.

This Is The Gaming Microphone To Get

This microphone does come with an XLR and a USB C connectivity and for the wireless feature it comes with a dongle. And this dongle can also be connected from your mobile phone. This means it can be connected with three devices simulateanously.

Multiple Devices All At Once

This also outputs audio from one device via wired USB and wireless dongle at the same time, making it one of the most versatile mic out there. Since it is a dynamic microphone, it has better noise isolation and offers better background noise rejection compared to condensor mics.

Connectivity Options
Connectivity Options (Image Credits – Tech4Gamers)

Specs

With a frequency range of 55Hz to 16Khz and a sensitivitry rating of 56 dB, and a signal to noise ratio of 72dB, which is really good for voice isolation. This outputs audio playback at a sampling rate of 16bit 48KHz and when recording this reaches 24bit 48KHz. Surely, to get the full potential of these specs, you should get a DAC/AMP setup

Wireless Mic

Then you have the wireless mode, which has a range of around 40 meters. Since wireless peripheral,s including gaming headphone, comes with a drawback of delay, this mic only comes with delay of 20ms, which is impressive.

EQ Modes

It has a maximum sound pressure level of 128dB, which makes it very resistant to clipping or distortion. It comes with three sound EQ modes: Bass, Natural, and Bright. As the name suggests, the Base mode gives your voice more depth, making it the best for podcasting and other things alike.

On this mode, I’ve noticed that the voice feels as if it is coming from a much expensive microphone. Then there’s a Natural mode, which is a standard mode but then there’s the Bright mode, which brings clarity from your voice.

I recommend that if you’re a male, you should avoid the natural EQ mode, and if you’re a female, you should avoid the Bright mode because it might distort your voice more than enhancing it. However, this is just my two cents, and you’re free to adjust it according to your needs.

Denoise Feature

Sure, you still get the background noise, but it is muffled, and the mic produces your voice in a way that it becomes the main focus. This was, the background noise is less distracting and I recommend you put the gain to level 2 to avoid it even further.

Control Scheme

Gain Levels

This mode brings out much more clarity in the voice, and I found that it is the one that has no noise fatigue. There are also 4 levels of gain placed just above the EQ mode button on the backside of the mic.

Here you can adjust the gain, and I found that level 2 works the best if there are no background noise (like the sound from a fan or AC). At gain, 3 you start to pick up background noises, and at gain 1, it’s just too quiet.

Structure & Build Quality

The mic is made with both aluminum and plastic, where the buttons and the structure holding the foam cap are plastic, while the bottom is made out of aluminum. While the mic itself is light (3.3g), it is bottom-heavy.

Cardioid Polar Pattern
Irreplaceable Foam Cap (Image Credits – Tech4Gamers)

Speaking of the foam cap on the mic, it isn’t replaceable because there is a plastic casing holding it firmly. Since it isn’t replaceable, it could catch your spit, which could result in it getting dirtier in the long run, so I recommend you use an external pop filter to avoid the main foam from getting dirty.

The nob on the mic has a smooth twist which doesn’t feel cheap. Just above the nob, you get a denoise button which isolates your voice. Now testing with background noises being played, the denoise featured performed really well with the voice still retaining the bass and the voice wasn’t as compressed.

Verdict

This mic comes with a price tag of only $78, and with its RGB lighting and the way it sounds with its three EQ modes and denoise feature, it sounds way better than the gaming options we have on the market.

Design
Complete Look With Stand (Image Credits – Tech4Gamers)

Specifically, the HyperX Quadcast S sounds a bit cheaper and comes with a price tag of $98. Considering that the Comica Ejoy D10 Pro is a great value for money, I recommend you get it if you’re looking for a gaming/streaming microphone.

DDR6 RAM Expected To Arrive In 2027 With 8800 MT/s Base, And 17,600 MT/s Max Speeds

Story Highlight
  • The industry aims to release DDR6 RAM for purchase in 2027.
  • Widespread adoption will likely take until 2028 or 2029 because initial prices will be high.
  • Base DDR6 speeds will start at 8,800 MT/s, while high-end modules could reach 17,600 MT/s.

The industry is moving more quickly to introduce the next generation of PC RAM modules, known as DDR6. The industry wants this memory to be available for purchase beginning in 2027.

The DDR5 memory has been around for far longer than you might think. The pandemic has caused some disruption to our internal clocks.

For comparison, DDR5 memory did not go on sale until 2021, despite the JEDEC specification being established in 2020. It wasn’t until late 2022 and early 2023 that it was widely adopted. When almost everyone started purchasing a new PC that started using DDR5 memory, the JEDEC specification for DDR6 memory was revealed in 2024.

This is why the pricing of this memory will be significantly higher when it arrives in 2027. Therefore, it makes sense to assume that widespread adoption won’t occur until well into 2028 or 2029. Because at first, this memory will only be used by those with larger budgets.

DDR6

About the performance of the DDR6, the most basic DDR6 RAM will begin with a speed of 8,800 MT/s. So the cheapest DDR6 memory will be nearly as fast as the most costly DDR5, but will use less power. Meanwhile, the highest-performance modules will be able to reach 17,600 MT/s, which is 76% more than the current modules’ 10,000 MT/s.

So we could even imagine that with overclocking, DDR6 RAM could reach 20,000 MT/s. As if that wasn’t enough, we’re talking 83% quicker than DDR5 RAM’s base performance of 4,800 MT/s.

Next year the main CPU manufacturers and architectures in the industry will carry out platform testing and compatibility verifications. Among these the obvious ones are the AMD, Intel and NVIDIA . It remains unknown if the memory will also be integrated to reduce latencies.

In order to enhance signal integrity and expand bandwidth, DDR6 RAM replaces the 2×32-bit design of DDR5 with a 4×24-bit sub-channel architecture and the new CAMM2 form factor. Compared to conventional 288-pin DIMMs, the CAMM form factor offers a compressed memory module design, which lowers impedance and improves signal integrity.

Some Dell systems (based on DDR5) currently employ the CAMM2 form factor, and high-performance servers and notebooks are anticipated to adopt it more widely.

In addition to the DDR6 high price, the DDR5 took a couple of years for mass adoption, so we can expect to see the same for DDR6 until a proper/optimized ecosystem is developed.

Switch 2: Hybrid console or Handheld Powerhouse?

Story Highlights
  • The original Switch was successful because it worked both as a console via the docking system and a handled console.
  • The Switch 2 is more powerful and has a better display and long battery life for extended gaming in handheld mode.
  • Docked gameplay is also there, but handheld gaming is the main focus.

In 2017, the original Nintendo Switch was launched and changed the gaming industry. It worked as both a home console you could dock to your TV and a handheld device that you could carry anywhere. Recently the Switch 2 has launched which has kept this trend.

A Quick Look Back

The first Nintendo Switch was a hit in gaming industry due to its flexibility. It made it possible to play video games anywhere such as from the comfort of your room (on your TV) or even on a bus.

As compared to the PlayStation and Xbox, it didn’t have powerful hardware, but it became popular due to its unique design and fun games. They sold 150 million units by 2025 proving people’s love for freedom to play anywhere.

What’s the Buzz?

Nintendo has incorporated the use of better technology like NVIDIA’s DLSS in Switch 2 which it had confirmed to do a few months back. NVIDIA’s DLSS is a tool that helps graphics to look better without high power requirements. This means that the new Switch has better graphics than its predecessor with better FPS and low energy consumption.

The new system also keeps the hybrid features with some improvements. This means that you can still dock it to your TV or play in handheld mode with better screen quality, battery timing and other features. All these new features suggest that Nintendo focused more on the system’s performance while in handheld mode as opposed to the docked mode.

A Handheld Focus and Better Chip

Nintendo’s game strategy has always been focused on handheld gaming. The game boy, DS and 3DS were all successful inventions. Current trends show that many Switch owners like to play in handheld mode as compared to playing on TV. After seeing this trend, Nintendo tried to make the Switch 2 even better as a portable system.

Now it’s possible to achieve powerful gaming without needing a big, bulky console due to advancements in chip technology. The Switch 2 houses the Nvidia Tegra 239 SoC chip Based on Ampere which is a very powerful chip exactly as rumored. Nintendo has made full use of this technology and other advancements to offer top-quality handheld gaming with better loading times. Gone are the days of system lags.

But Docked Mode Still Counts

There are many people that enjoy playing on big screen with family or friends as well. The original Switch made it easy for such people. Nintendo hasn’t taken that away. So, while the handheld experience has gotten most of the upgrades, Nintendo didn’t ignore the docked mode.

Nintendo Switch 2

We all enjoy playing games on or TV with friends or family and Nintendo knows this. Therefore, going further we may see improvements in docked mode like better TV graphics, faster loading and stronger Joy-Con controllers. In doing so Nintendo can keep both types of players happy.

What About the Competition?

Gaming in 2025 is more crowded than before. There are big competitors in portable gaming space like Steam Deck, PlayStation Portal and ASUS ROG that give high performance in games.

Nintendo was aware but it didn’t focus on this competition because all of these competitors work on big, bulky hardware’s. Instead, Nintendo stuck to what it does creativity, fun, family-friendly gaming and making the new system more advanced and better. Nintendo tried to keep its charm while tackling competitors and, in my opinion, has succeeded in doing so.

So, what is The Switch 2?

The Switch 2 is a hybrid console just like its predecessor meaning it provides both handheld and TV modes. However, in the new Switch Nintendo has paid more attention to strengthening the handheld mode for now. The Switch 2 covers all gaps and makes portable gaming smoother and more powerful.

Nintendo has not changed the device’s unique design but, has improve the internal hardware for better portable gaming experience. This allow users to have a high-quality gaming experience on the go, no matter where they are.

New Lollipop Chainsaw Title Won’t Have Censorship, Will Stay True To The Original

Story Highlight
  • New Lollipop Chainsaw devs say the game won’t have any censorship.
  • The title will stay true to the distinctive tone of the original, incorporating dark humor.
  • Furthermore, the developer also emphasized DEI standards won’t influence creative decisions.

Lollipop Chainsaw has garnered a substantial cult following since its release in 2012. To such an extent that Dragami Games even released a remastered version last year, which proved to be a significant commercial success for the company.

Recently, the developer surprised fans by announcing that new projects based on the IP were in development and would remain faithful to the source material. Now, new info unveiled by Dragami hints at how far this new Lollipop Chainsaw title will be willing to go.

Why it matters: The lack of censorship, especially for a raunchy action title, is an exciting prospect and something very important.

Lollipop Chainsaw
Lollipop Chainsaw RePop reinvigorated interest in the action title last year.

In a new blog post, collaborators Nada Holdings and Dragami announced that a new game in the franchise is in development, recreating the distinctive tone of the original without any censorship. In other words, no creative restrictions will be imposed on the new Lollipop Chainsaw title in the name of DEI, allowing for complete freedom to implement dark humor.

Furthermore, the press release also announced that an anime based on the IP was in development, alongside a new game. From the looks of the DEI comment, these new Lollipop Chainsaw projects are looking to closely follow the atmosphere of the original, and developer Dragami Games is not making decisions based on new DEI standards.

The 2012 title, a collaboration between Suda 51 and James Gunn, was a rather raunchy action game with edgy humor and a cheerleader tasked with killing zombies. Yoshimi Yasuda, another developer on the original Lollipop Chainsaw, has also previously spoken out against censorship in gaming, saying it ruins core aspects.

Chainsaw Lollipop Featured
Lollipop Chainsaw Repop has sold over a million copies since launch.

If the new Lollipop Chainsaw game does stick to its roots with minimal censorship to lighten its tone, there is every chance it will top the 1.5 million copies sold by the 2012 game, especially with a new anime to back it up.

Do you think the new Lollipop Chainsaw game will ultimately prove successful? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Dying Light Director Takes A Dig At AC Shadows, Says It Feels Like Doing Chores

Story Highlight
  • Dying Light director thinks open-worlds like Assassin’s Creed Shadows get boring quickly.
  • Instead of bloated open-worlds, studios should focus more on fun gameplay elements.
  • He praised Alan Wake 2 and Control for providing a fun 15 to 16-hour experience.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows was the title that was supposed to address multiple issues at Ubisoft, including its bloated open-world issues. However, while the game improves on it, it still reaches a point where you start to strain.

That is exactly what Dying Light: The Beast director has stated about Assassin’s Creed Shadows. He says that if he starts playing the title, he knows he will never finish it, because it becomes too much too soon

Why it matters: One of the primary complaints about Assassin’s Creed and Ubisoft games has been that the open world is often considered boring and lacks a proper structure. This has been carried over to Shadows as well.

Dying Light director calls out Assassin’s Creed Shadows for a bloated open-world.

Speaking with GamesRadar, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektala explained why their upcoming entry is only 20 hours long. He said if the games are too long, like Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it feels like you’re doing chores.

Finishing it (Shadows) basically at some point starts feeling like a chore. I don’t want to pay additionally for a chore, right?

– Tymon Smektala

While you do get a nice return on investment, you aren’t going to see most parts of those absolutely massive games. Therefore, ultimately, what matters is the experience, and with The Beast‘s shorter time, you get a much better experience.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Ubisoft attempted to address the issues with Shadows, but many of them remain unresolved.

He further praised titles like Alan Wake 2 and Control that provide a decent-sized 15-hour gameplay but provide you value with their outstanding stories, fun mechanics, and that, according to Smektala, is worth more than huge open-worlds.

This is what Techland is doing with Dying Light: The Beast as well. They want to replicate a fun experience without a bloated open-world, and that has always been the studio’s priority, even with its older titles.

Silent Hill 1 Remake Has Been In Development For 3 Years, Claims Insider

Story Highlight
  • Following the successful release of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Konami announced that the remake of the first game is also in development.
  • However, the publisher didn’t provide any details regarding its release window or the duration of development.
  • An insider has revealed that the remake has been in development for three years and is expected to be released in 2027

Silent Hill 2 remake, when revealed, received a lot of criticism from the fandom as the game looked pretty average. However, with time, Bloober Team managed to improve it so much that it received an overwhelmingly positive reception from the fans.

The Silent Hill series is pretty popular among horror genre fans, but the remake managed to become the fastest-selling game in the series. So, it is fair to say that Bloober Team outdid itself.

Following the success of the developer’s first game, they began working on a remake of the original Silent Hill. According to an insider, the project has been in development for three years.

Why it matters: Due to the successful release of the Silent Hill 2 remake, the fandom is now excited about Bloober Team’s future titles.

Silent Hill 1 Remake Development Time
Silent Hill 1 Remake Development Time Has Been Revealed By An Insider | Source: Twitter

After the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake, the fandom started demanding that Bloober Team to now work on the first and third iterations in the series. Little did they know the developer was already working on the remake of the original title

Dusk Golem, an insider who specialises in information regarding horror games, has revealed that the remake of Silent Hill 1 has been in development for roughly three years now. The insider has been accurate with his information many times, as he recently revealed some details about Resident Evil 9, which have since proven to be true.

He further states that the game will be released in 2027, so the overall development time will be stretched to 5 years. This seems like a reasonable development for a remake that is potentially being developed in Unreal Engine 5. It is generally assumed that the game will be developed using UE5, but this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

Still, there is plenty of time left until the game’s release, but horror genre fans need not worry, as many good games are on the way.

Wuchang Publisher Admits New IPs ‘Particularly Difficult’ To Launch In The Current Climate

Story Highlight
  • Digital Bros., the owner of 505 Games, has stated that launching a new IP is particularly difficult in the current climate.
  • 505 Games’ latest release, Blades of Fire, a flop despite its praise, which led them to issue this statement.
  • The title was launched as an Epic Games Store exclusive, which could be a reason for this failure.

Video games have been around for decades, but in the past few years, we’ve seen an awfully shortage of new IPs, and instead, publishers have been expanding the current franchises to new horizons.

505 Games, the publisher behind Wuchang Fallen Feathers, believes that creating an identity for a new IP has become increasingly challenging due to the numerous new game releases. In a new statement, they said that launching a new IP is “particularly difficulty” in the current climate of the gaming industry.

Why it matters: Increased competition and a selective approach by gamers will limit creativity, as smaller releases are unable to compete with the major players.

blades of fire
Blades Of Fire Is A Solid AA Experience That Is A Callback To 2000s’ RPGs

505 Games’ new release, Blades of Fire, severely underperformed despite receiving praise from gamers and critics. In response to the underwhelming sales, the publisher’s owner, Digital Bros., issued a statement saying:

The video game market remains affected by challenging competitive dynamics, driven by an oversupply of new releases and increasingly selective consumers. These conditions make it particularly difficult to successfully launch new titles

Digital Bros. is also expecting to incur losses of around $11.7 million in the subsequent fiscal year due to this flopped title.

Live Service Releases
The Multiplayer Market Is Quite Impenetrable For New IPs

Although the company’s statement is true to some extent, Blades of Fire was launched as an Epic Games Store exclusive, which rarely yields good results for a publisher. Every title launched exclusively on the platform has suffered from poor sales, with one notable example being Alan Wake 2.

Moreover, there are already too many game releases, and with increasing costs, gamers are becoming increasingly picky about buying new titles. The only time that new IPs succeed in this environment is if they come from a renowned publisher.

What are your thoughts on this statement? Do you agree with Digital Bros. on this matter? Let us know in the comments below, or at the official Tech4Gamers Forums.

  • The console market is currently dominated by three companies, but it appears that a fourth one may soon join the ranks.
  • According to several insiders, Valve is developing a home console that could be a direct competitor to the next-generation Xbox and PlayStation.
  • It appears that Valve is taking this device seriously, and it is being treated as a legitimate console.

The console market is currently dominated by three major companies: Sony (PlayStation), Nintendo, and Microsoft (Xbox). While Xbox’s presence in the console market has decreased significantly, it is still one of the companies that revolutionized gaming.

Aside from the Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation, there is another console that is quite popular, and that is the Steam Deck. However, it can’t be considered among those who dominate the market, but it seems that Valve doesn’t want it to stay that way always

Many insiders have now suggested that Valve is working on a home console, similar to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X, which, if true, is a significant development.

Why it matters: Valve’s Steam is the most loved gaming platform of all time, and due to its popularity, the home console may sell like hotcakes if it features better options and hardware than the current or the next-gen consoles.

Steam Deck Is Popular, But Not As Popular As Other Handhelds Like Nintendo Switch

Moore’s Law is Dead, a well-known insider in the industry who is either a hit or miss, has revealed that, according to an internal leak, Valve is working on a next-generation device with considerable power. The console will be based on AMD’s upcoming Zen 6-based “Magnus” APU, which is rumored to power the next-gen Xbox and PlayStation

The Steam Deck was, in essence, an experiment by Valve to gauge the reception from the gaming community. However, according to an insider, the company is taking the next iteration seriously and treating it like a proper console, with full-scale support and a long-term vision.

During the podcast, Jimmy noted that Sony is going out of its way to support Steam Deck. As multiple Sony’s first-party titles are now Steam Deck verified, he thinks that the company is making efforts to make them feel native on another platform.
