The Switch 2 Is Capable Enough For AAA Titles!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows is hinted to arrive on Switch 2 later this year by Ubisoft.
  • This hint practically confirms previous rumors of such a port.
  • Ubisoft has other titles planned for the handheld, too, including an unannounced title that could be a remake of Prince of Persia Sands of Time.

Ubisoft’s apparent blockbuster RPG failed to make the expected waves, but the publisher still holds some hope for the title.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows might be arriving on the Switch 2 console later this year, perhaps giving the game a little boost in sales. Ubisoft has recently hinted at such a port, which perfectly aligns with previous reports.

Why it matters: Nintendo audiences aren’t mostly familiar with AAA titles. As such, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will provide a new and exciting experience for gamers.

Ubisoft Executives Say That AC Shadows Has Set The Bar High For Their Future Games

In the latest investor call at Ubisoft, CEO Yves Guillemot discussed the roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, while also hinting at a new port for a different platform.

we have also some new versions (of the game) that will come on other machines

Later in the meeting, an invest outright asked the CFO Frédérick Duguet if the Switch 2 was capable enough to handle Assassin’s Creed Shadows to which Duguet declined to comment.

They’re obviously referring to Switch 2 as the “other machines” since the handheld is the only device capable of handling the title. There would be no sense in releasing the game on last-gen consoles or mobile phones.

Previously, a PEGI rating also mentioned Switch 2 as a platform for the RPG, implying that a port was in the works. A French news channel has also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Mirage would be headed to Switch 2 this year.

Additionally, Ubisoft also mentioned Star Wars Outlaw headed to the Switch 2 and another unannounced title for the platform, set to release before March 2026. The aforementioned game could be Prince of Persia Sands of Time Remake, but we’ll find out soon enough.

As to when Assassin’s Creed Shadows will arrive on Switch 2, a best guess would be in September alongside the Claws of Awaji expansion. Assassin’s Creed Mirage was also reportedly getting a DLC, so expect a Switch 2 announcement then too.
