CDPR Is Cooking With The Witcher Franchise!

Story Highlight
  • The Witcher DLC, Songs of the Past, was the most wishlisted game from Gamescom.
  • It has around 451K wishlists, which is huge for a DLC for a game that was released 11 years ago.
  • The studio has also announced a remastered version, free for all existing users.

Most agree that this year’s Gamescom was a bit of a letdown. However, it did have its moments with the showcases of Metro 2039, Blood of Dawnwalker, and, most importantly, all the new stuff coming to The Witcher 3.

Ahead of the remaster update rolling out late this month, The Witcher 3 DLC Songs of the Past was the most wishlisted game from all of Gamescom 2026. It is even more impressive; the original game came out in 2015.

Why it matters: Being more anticipated than all the new releases is a huge feat for a title this old, and it showcases the impact The Witcher 3 had on the industry at that time and continues to do almost 11 years later.

Data from Alinea Analytics reveals that the most wishlisted game from Gamescom wasn’t actually a game at all; it was actually the new DLC for the 11-year-old The Witcher 3, Songs of the Past, releasing sometime next year.

The expansion occupied the first spot, going ahead of titles like Warlock, Blood of Dawnwalker, and Metro 2039. The number is even more impressive, as it’s already at half a million without even a solid release date yet.

Of course, this would’ve been a major hit. The Witcher 3 is a generational game that has had so much impact on RPGs that it’s still considered a benchmark for modern games. So, the new DLC was always a recipe for success.

Interestingly, this isn’t all CDPR has cooked up. Later this month, we are also getting a remastered version of the base game and its DLCs. It will be completely free for all existing users, which in itself is highly commendable.
