- Players are returning to The Witcher 3 following the reveal of the Songs of the Past DLC.
- The game’s Steam player counts have shot up by 2x, increasing to nearly 30K concurrent players from 15K players.
- These player counts mark the highest figures the game has seen since February of this year.
The Witcher 3 remains a monumental achievement for CDPR to date and continues to drive millions of dollars in sales revenue for the company over a decade after its release.
Recently, CDPR also announced the Songs of the Past DLC for the RPG, triggering a major resurgence in the game’s player counts on platforms like Steam.
Why it matters: The Songs of the Past DLC is coming in 2027, so there is still some time before The Witcher 3 truly returns to public attention. However, it seems fans are already flocking back to the RPG.

The Witcher 3 peaked at over 29,000 Steam players on the last day of May, and SteamDB shows that player counts hovered around 15K-20K peak concurrent players a few days before this date.
For context, The Witcher 3 DLC Songs of the Past was announced on May 27, marking a nearly 2x increase in player counts just days after this reveal. This is made all the more impressive by the fact that the title is currently experiencing its highest player counts since February 2026.
As per CDPR, the game also reached 65 million sales recently. Combined with this resurgence, which is likely also happening on platforms like PlayStation and Xbox, The Witcher 3 continues to remain a worthy RPG for gamers across all platforms.

Once CDPR puts the game on sale in the coming months, it could see an additional uptick from players following renewed interest in The Witcher 3 due to ongoing chatter about Songs of the Past.
Moreover, the excitement for The Witcher 4 will likely push more gamers towards The Witcher 3 in the coming months.
