CD Projekt Red has become synonymous with great quality and has acquired legendary status over the years. More than the main game, one of the highlights of the studio’s work is its post-launch content: the huge, fleshed-out expansions.
Even today, Blood and Wine and Phantom Liberty outweigh certain full games. However, now we finally have our first detailed look at The Witcher 3’s new DLC, Songs of the Past, and it looks stunning as Geralt marks his return.
Why it matters: No one really expected the studio to still support the title 11 years after the initial launch, but they claim they wanted one last story for Geralt, and Fool’s Theory hired some veterans who helped them out.
Right off the bat, Songs of the Past introduces a brand new region called Letten. It will be filled with new quests, monsters, and “dark lurking secrets.” It will be the final content update for the title and will pass on the mantle to Ciri.
Moreover, Geralt will have a new chain weapon, as we can see from the trailer. Not too much has been revealed about the plot except that it features a tree where we see a mysterious woman, and that’s it.
Another big piece of news is The Witcher 3 Remastered coming next month, which will be a free update for complete game owners. It features improved visuals, combat, horse riding mechanics, and tons of other things.
Anyhow, this is a great time to be a Witcher fan. After next year’s DLC, whose release date is still unannounced, we go straight towards The Witcher 4, which is confirmed to be targeting a 2028 release and will be led by Ciri.
