- The Witcher is finally confirmed to be coming out in 2028 by CDPR.

The Witcher 3 is perhaps the most popular RPG of all time. Despite it being over 10 years old at this point, it still remains a benchmark for modern games. So, naturally, when the sequel was announced, the hype was through the roof.
Now, after almost a couple of years since the reveal, it has been confirmed that The Witcher 4, led by Ciri, is targeting a 2028 release window. Though we don’t have an exact date for now, at least we know something.
Why it matters: Many were anticipating a long development time for the title, as the studio would like to be very careful due to the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077, but it seems they’ll have the next title ready in time.

CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 4 is currently targeting a 2028 release window. They want to launch the trilogy in quick succession so we could see the sequels in 2031 and 2034.
But this is subject to whether the development goes smoothly as it is right now. Unfortunately, The Witcher 4 won’t be at the upcoming Gamescom, but the studio isn’t entirely skipping the event.
In fact, CDPR is gearing up to launch The Witcher 3 DLC: Songs of the Past next year and will showcase a detailed look at it at the event. It’s a new expansion and will likely bridge the gap between The Witcher 3 and the 2028 sequel.
