Elden Ring Needs Another DLC After Shadow of the Erdtree

Story Highlight
  • Shadow of the Erdtree solves several mysteries about Elden Ring and delivers many plot twists.
  • However, the lore is still incomplete after such a massive expansion.
  • To address those mysteries, I believe FromSoftware should release another DLC or make a sequel to Elden Ring.

Many fans waited over two years for more Elden Ring content. Once FromSoftware announced Shadow of the Erdtree, the excitement quickly reached new levels, and the DLC eventually exceeded expectations.

I consider Shadow of the Erdtree to have raised the standard of DLCs, as it even puts single-player games to shame. It is arguably my favorite DLC of all time, but even so, I believe Elden Ring needs another expansion.

Many mysteries still need to be answered, and we will not be able to solve them ourselves until there is an official answer.

Why it matters: There are many things in Elden Ring that the developer has left up to the players’ interpretation; however, some things need to be addressed since they are the main part of the story.

The Unsolved Mysteries

Gloam Eyed Queen Is Still A Mysterious Entity In Elden Ring

I am well aware that Miyazaki has worked extremely hard on the Elden Ring DLC, making it the company’s biggest expansion ever. Many single-player games don’t even offer half as much content.

However, no matter how great the DLC is, many unsolved mysteries remain. This is why most of the fandom wants another DLC. Fans hope to see George R.R. Martin returning with more lore, treating this IP like Game of Thrones or its book A Song of Ice and Fire.

We still don’t know much about the Gloam-Eyed Queen and the Godskins. We know that the Godskin apostle followed her, and Maliketh defeated Gloam Eyed Queen and took Destined Death from her, but that’s about it.

Miyazaki HAS to make another Elden Ring DLC
byu/LightCrimson1 inEldenring

Godwyn The Golden has become a joke at this point, given how FromSoftware has treated him. I know his soul doesn’t exist anymore, but Fia did sleep with him in one of the endings. So, where is the child? There is no information about these events at all.

Melina also needs more screen time. We know she is Marika and Radagon’s daughter now, but that’s about it. What about the outer gods? How many are there? There are just too many unsolved mysteries, and this doesn’t sit right with me.

Miyazaki Has Made Himself Clear – Has He Now?

Mesmer The Impaler In Elden Ring DLC

FromSoftware is arguably one of the best studios, and Miyazaki manages it better than anyone else. However, I do not like it when he doesn’t give a definitive answer to what is being asked.

As a leader of a studio, of course, people are going to ask him questions. However, he is often known to dodge such critical questions. He has often given fans hope that the team would like to work on Bloodborne, but will it ever?

Miyazaki has also said that there could be more possibilities in the future for the Dark Souls franchise. Dark Souls 3 is the end of the series, and this is quite obvious already. It seems like he often enjoys misleading fans.

He is now doing the same with Elden Ring. In previous interviews, he did not say that Shadow of the Erdtree would be the end of Elden Ring, but he confirmed that the team has no plans for another DLC or sequel.

Miyazaki basically left the doors open to both options but didn’t outright confirm anything. This seems like a false hope to me.

We Need A Better Conclusion

Dark Souls 3
Fans Need A Better Conclusion Like Dark Souls 3’s.

In Dark Souls 3, you were given pieces of the puzzles to come to a conclusion for an ending. That is a respectable end for the series. However, this is not the case with Elden Ring.

Shadow of the Erdtree reveals plenty of things about Marika’s past and Miquella’s scheme. However, that is about it. There is still much more left for us to learn about this universe.

Therefore, FromSoftware either needs to make a sequel or another DLC for the game. The lore of Elden Ring has so much potential that I believe Miyazaki underestimates it.

Following the DLC, this lore has been expanded further and deserves more depth. Perhaps the studio should consider making a prequel that explains some of the unexplored plot threads to further flesh out this universe. Hopefully, this won’t be the last we see of Elden Ring.

Bungie Has Laid Off 220 Devs; Cutting 17% of Workforce

Story Highlight
  • Bungie was hit with layoffs before the end of last year.
  • However, it’s been confirmed that the studio is facing another wave of layoffs.
  • Around 220 workers have been laid off, representing roughly 17% of the workforce.

Bungie is currently one of Sony’s biggest first-party studios. The studio has done remarkable work for Sony since Jim Ryan previously stated that the developer was more valuable than Activision would’ve ever been for PlayStation.

However, Bungie faced layoffs before the end of last year. While the exact numbers were unknown, it was still soul-crushing for many of the employees. Fast forward to today, and the team has announced another round of layoffs. The studio is now laying off around 17% of the workforce.

Why it matters: While the layoffs are devastating, the changes at Bungie go beyond basic layoffs. The studio is being fundamentally transformed by Sony.

Destiny 2
Destiny 2 Has Been The Most Succesful Release For Bungie

Bungie’s official website confirms that the studio is eliminating 220 roles, representing 17% of the total workforce.

Moreover, 155 Bungie developers are being moved to Sony. 75 developers are also being shifted to an entirely new studio within PlayStation, working on a new sci-fi action game. All in all, these changes leave the original team with a huge gap.

Overall, the team is down to just 850 people from 1,300 developers. This is one of the most difficult decisions the company has made recently. Still, it states that this was necessary due to rising development costs, industry shifts, and economic conditions.

Bungie Faced Layoffs Before The End of 2023

Bungie still remains confident about its future in the industry. It continues to work on Marathon and more Destiny content, catering to fans of first-person shooters. The team hopes that Destiny 2 will continue to thrive and appeal to millions of players in the future.

However, seeing so many layoffs this year is still very disappointing. PlayStation already laid off nearly 1,000 developers this year, and this announcement brings the total up even further.

Hopefully, this will be the last time we hear about such layoffs since the industry is rapidly bleeding talent.

AMD Zen 5 Prices Officially Revealed; Ryzen 5 9600X Starts At $279

Story Highlight
  • AMD Zen 5 desktop CPUs are finally coming out next week.
  • The prices of the CPUs have been revealed today through online retailers, as the CPUs were supposed to launch today before the recent delay.
  • The prices look quite decent, making Zen 5 a tough competitor for Intel.

Last week, AMD slightly delayed the launch of the Ryzen 9000 CPUs, which were previously scheduled for 31 July. The company pushed it back for two weeks, with the new chips now coming on 15 August.

Moreover, the official prices of the AMD Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs have also been revealed through BestBuy.

Why it matters: Until recently, prices had shown up through various listings, sparking speculation about AMD’s decisions. The latest listing reveals what will be the official pricing for Zen 5 CPUs.

The Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs have shown up at retailers like BestBuy today. Since these CPUs were expected to arrive today, the official prices have also been revealed through these listings. The following are the prices revealed for the next-gen Ryzen CPUs:

These prices are all typically lower than AMD’s last generation chips. For instance, the Ryzen 5 9600X is $30 cheaper, while the Ryzen 9 9900X is a whole $100 cheaper.

This is likely because Zen 5 CPUs don’t offer as big an upgrade. Moreover, they are slower than last-generation 3D V-Cache chips. Still, options like the Ryzen 9 9950X for $599 seem very attractive.

With Intel currently struggling to work out its CPU stability problems, AMD may be able to find a competitive edge through these prices. The Ryzen 9 9950X also seems like a solid option over the Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KS since both CPUs retail for over $500.

The Ryzen 7 9700X also appears to be a decent option with the $359 price tag. Finally, the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, priced at $279, should be a solid entry-level offering. Ultimately, all these CPUs hold the potential to mark another successful generation of AMD processors.

Shadow of The Erdtree Proves Elden Ring Lore Is Just Too Complex

Story Highlight
  • Elden Ring lore was already quite deep, but the DLC has made it even better.
  • It has been revealed that Miquella was the real mastermind all along.
  • He was behind the fight between Radahn and Malenia,
  • The allegations against Mohg have also been proven wrong.

Elden Ring is known to have some of the most complex lore in gaming history. Even by FromSoftware’s standards, this level of storytelling marks a new high, probably thanks to George R.R. Martin.

Like other FromSoftware games, Elden Ring’s lore is very abstract and requires careful investigation of the environment, NPCs, and item descriptions. However, for those who know about this world, very few others are as interesting. Following the DLC, the lore has become even more complex.

Why it matters: Shadow of the Erdtree provides further insight into various conflicts, characters, and events of The Lands Between.

Radahn Vs. Malenia – Talk of The Century

Radahn Vs Malenia
Radahn Vs. Malenia Was Orcastrated By None Other Miquella

Many have been discussing the fight between Radahn and Malenia ever since Elden Ring was released, and I can understand why. The fight ended in a stalemate since there was no winner. However, why was Malenia there to kill Radahn in the first place?

Miquella was the mastermind all along. He is the one who bestowed a vow upon Radahn to become his King Consort. It seems like Radahn resisted, and I will explain why in a bit.

First, you have to understand that to enter the Realm of Shadows, one has to die. So, Radahn had to die in order to go to the Realm of Shadows and act as the King Consort of Miquella.

However, Malenia failed to kill him in Caelid even after the Scarlet Aeonia bloomed. Malenia said something to Radahn just before she used that attack. It has been revealed that she said, “Miquella awaits thee, O promised consort.”

This means that Miquella orchestrated everything to become a true god. Ultimately, Radahn resisted enough to kill many more warriors until the Tarnished bested him. Afterwards, his soul was finally transferred to the Realm of Shadows, where Miquella resurrected him.

What About Mohg, Lord of Blood?

Radahn Was Resurrected Via Mohg’s Body

Mohg became a meme in the community since Miquella set him up, too. He didn’t have any plans to kidnap Miquella, but he was forced to do so. Apparently, Miquella The Kind can just steal everyone’s hearts.

He stole Mohg’s heart and turned him into a pawn who didn’t meet a great end. Miquella used Mohg to enter the Realm of Shadows, but that’s not it. He even used Mohg’s corpse to resurrect Radahn.

Once the soul of the promised consort was brought to the Shadow Realm, a body was needed to perform the ritual, and Mohg served his purpose there. If you have fought the final boss of the DLC, you would know that he can use Blood Flame and has thorns on his arm.  That is because of Mohg’s body, and you can’t help but feel bad for the guy.

Marika’s Revenge

Marika
Marika Used To Reside In The Realm of Shadows

Shadow of the Erdtree revealed that Shaman Village was Marika’s home. That village exists in the Realm of Shadows, so Marika was there. Not only that, but Marika is the reason “Gold was born, and Shadow was arisen.”

The Shamans in the Shadow Realm were treated very poorly. Once human, they were whipped and forced into jars. Such tyranny was done by the Hornsents, and Marika didn’t forgive them.

She sent her son, Messmer, The Impaler, into the Realm of Shadow to commence a war and kill every single one of them. However, Marika also feared Messmer as he had the power to kill gods. So, she locked him there, and he was unwaveringly killing the Hornsents all this time.

Ranni’s Consort Vs. Miquella’s Consort

Radhan-Consort-of-Miquella
We Beat Radahn As The Consort of Ranni

While this is based on the ending you choose, I believe the ending can be best explained as Ranni’s Consort having a duel with Miquella’s Consort. Age of Stars is already the most beloved ending of Elden Ring due to Ranni’s clever scheming to become a god.

You can consider it the canon ending. We can see that Age of Stars is preferred even by the developer. If you’ve seen the official Elden Ring The Journey So Far video, you can see that only Age of Stars was featured.

So, it makes more sense to consider Ranni’s Ending cannon, which means we end the game as her consort. While Miquella achieved true godship and managed to steal many hearts, we, as Ranni’s consort, managed to kill him.

So, the only god alive right now in the world of Elden Ring is Ranni, The Witch, the smartest of all.

Bayle The Dread Is A New High For FromSoftware’s Dragon Bosses

Story Highlight
  • Midir was considered the best FromSoftware dragon boss fight, even after Placidusax was featured in Elden Ring.
  • However, Bayle has managed to usurp Midir’s throne, as this encounter is now the best dragon boss from this studio.
  • In my opinion, everything about this boss is perfect.

Nobody is better at making memorable bosses than FromSoftware. This was abundantly clear after Elden Ring’s success, even if the game relied excessively on reusing these battles.

Despite its knack for making quality games, the studio has still struggled with dragon bosses. With the exception of Midir, Placidusax, and Bayle, past dragons have felt underwhelming or unfair due to poor camera angles and unimpressive movesets.

Nonetheless, the studio seems to have finally hit the mark in Elden Ring. Placidusax was easily the game’s best dragon, and while he didn’t measure up to Dark Souls 3’s Midir, the battle showed FromSoftware’s evolution in this regard.

As expected, the team has outdone itself yet again. In my opinion, Bayle is now the best dragon fight this team has created.

Why it matters: Dark Souls 3 was released in 2016, and for eight years, Midir stayed unchallenged as the most fearsome dragon.

Bayle, The Dread, Has Usurped Midir’s Throne

Midir Dragon Boss
Darkeater Midir Is No Longer The Best FromSoftware Dragon Boss Fight

Shadow of the Erdtree features 40 boss fights, and 11 of them are remembrance bosses. While Midir isn’t exactly a remembrance boss, after defeating him, you get his heart, which has a special option in the new Dragon Communion.

However, this is similar to a remembrance since you choose two spells from his heart. So, it works the same way as remembrance, but you have to go to a different place. Overall, fighting this boss was an experience I will never forget.

Fighting him was so fun that I didn’t kill him when I first had the chance so that I could return to the battle. Midir was fun and easily one of the best bosses FromSoftware has ever created. However, learning that boss is easy, as it doesn’t have that many moves.

On the other hand, Bayle has a large arsenal of moves that can two-shot you, depending on how much defence you have. The first phase is super cool, especially the grab and the tail attack combo.

However, things get way more interesting when he enters his second phase. Remember the openings from the first phase? Well, those get follow-ups in the second phase. Also, Bayle has an attack where he first breathes fire toward you from the sky and then instantly traverses to the other side to fire a laser. This is what I call “Absolute Cinema.”

Curse You, Bayle

Bayle and Igon
Fighting Bayle With Igon Is One of The Best Experiences You Can Have In The DLC

If you remember this dialogue, congratulations; you have done the best side quest in Elden Ring. The side quest you do during this fight isn’t difficult at all. Instead, it makes the boss battle even more memorable.

After you defeat the Ancient Dragon Man, go on to beat the Jagged Peak Drake. After that, you will hear Igon’s voice, and he will proclaim you the Drake Warrior. Following this encounter, make sure to summon him in the fight and enjoy his iconic voice lines.

He has a history with Bayle, and during the fight, he curses the dragon for a while. This adds a new story element to the battle, so I 100% recommend summoning for this fight. While it may make the battle easier, you can always attempt the boss without the summon later.

The Lore Makes Bayle Even Better

Bayle The Dread
Bayle Was Evenly Matched With The Likes Placidusax

Placidusax was not a better dragon than Midir, but one could argue that the boss had incredibly flashy moves and intriguing lores. So, it was difficult to decide which one was better. However, now we know who cut off three of Placidusax’s heads and tails

That entity is none other than Bayle. This explains how powerful Bayle is since he went toe-to-toe with the Dragonlord Placidusax and survived. However, both were evenly matched as Placidusax cut off Bayle’s leg and both wings.

In the second phase, the dragon grows his wings, though these are not real. So, they both had an epic fight, which ended in a stalemate. No one won, and no one lost. That said, we never got to fight either of them in their prime.

Midir had a massive lore advantage before, as he stopped the Abyss all by himself. However, now Bayle also has his own legends backing him up, and the boss fight is just way too good.

In addition to this fight, the likes of Messmer show how FromSoftware continues to craft memorable boss encounters in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Palworld Dev Says Fans Should Not Play Same Live Service Games All The TIme

Story Highlights
  • The Palworld community manager says people should not keep playing the same games all the time.
  • This leads to developers and publishers doing the same thing repeatedly, leading to poor live service games.
  • He also stated that Palworld wasn’t designed to be played forever.

Palworld was among the biggest releases this year. It broke multiple records, even breaking past the 2 million concurrent players milestone, leading to huge hype around it. While most of the player base is already down, it has over 50K regular players.

Addressing the game’s current player base, Palworld’s community manager described that the game was never designed to be played forever.

Why it matters: When the game achieved those ridiculous numbers at launch, many expected Palword to stay on top for a long time. However, in just two months, it had lost 97% of the player base, leading to many people calling it a dead game.

Talking to Going Indie, John Buckley argued that gamers should not always play the same live service games. This sets a bad precedent, sending the message that publishers should flood the market with this type of game, which can create a diluted market in the long run.

I don’t think you need to be pushing yourself to play the same game all the time.

– John Buckley

He stated that playing the same titles isn’t healthy for the developers, gamers, or the industry. This leads to soulless live service releases that get shut down after 9-12 months because they don’t make enough revenue to keep going.

He argued that Palworld was never meant to be played forever. Therefore, with the game boasting about 60K players, it’s nowhere near dead, and the numbers are more than acceptable.

Palworld made an incredible amount of revenue with a small budget.

The community manager insisted that gamers should play other games, especially indie titles. Back in February, Buckley advised fans to try other games while Pocketpair worked on more content and updates.

This makes sense, too, as live service games have become boring over the years. We’ve had fun ones like Helldivers 2, but most, like Suicide Squad and Skull and Bones, have just been lazy attempts at the genre.

Pocketpair has already succeeded with Palworld, as the game made billions with a budget of just $6.7 million. The studio is also quite happy with the game’s current state and is believed to be working on a PlayStation port.

Microsoft CFO Aims To Make Xbox A Subscription-Based Business

Story Highlight
  • Xbox has been showing less interest in the console market for a while now.
  • Microsoft’s CFO has now made it clear that the parent company wants to turn it into a subscription business.
  • She also revealed that the company is satisfied with how well Game Pass is performing.

Not too long ago, Microsoft was rumored to be moving away from the console business. This caused concerns among the fans, but later, Xbox reassured the fandom that it had no plans to discontinue the hardware business.

The gaming giant plans to release next-gen consoles in 2026, featuring the biggest technical leap yet. However, the Microsoft CFO has shared her own vision for the future. She aims to turn Xbox into a subscription business.

Why it matters: Fans have been concerned about Xbox’s relevancy in the console market, but it seems the gaming giant is bound to become a subscription-based business.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6
Game Pass Saw A Price Hike Due To Call of Duty Coming To The Subscription Service

In a recent investor call, Amy Hood, Microsoft’s chief financial officer, was asked what investors should think about Microsoft’s gaming growth.

Microsoft was asked how investors should be thinking about the long-term growth potential of the gaming business, particularly after the recent investment in Activision Blizzard.

The CFO replied that the real goal is to bring more content to users in more places.

I think the real goal is to build what looks like a software annuity and subscription business.

-Amy Hood

Hood has defined this as the real goal, so it seems the company is indeed heading in this direction.

This is also because, according to recent reports, Microsft’s gaming revenue is up 44% compared to last year, and the revenue from Xbox content and subscription services is up by a whopping 67%.

Meanwhile, hardware revenue declined by 42%. This shows exactly where Microsoft’s priorities lie. Amy Hood has clarified that Microsoft wants Xbox to focus more on its subscription services.

Modern Warfare 3
Modern Warfare 3 Is Already Available On Game Pass

So, you can expect more emphasis on Game Pass, meaning that more and more IPs will be launched on this service. To convince the investors, Hood also said that the company is encouraged by some of its progress with Game Pass.

Overall, Microsoft is pleased with how Game Pass is performing, but the same can’t be said for the hardware side.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is already on the subscription service, and Black Ops 6 will have a day-one launch. Many games revealed in the previous showcase will be launched on day one for the Ultimate tier, highlighting further priorities.

Why Xbox’s Multiplatform Strategy Is A Double-Edged Sword

Story Highlight
  • Xbox recently decided to go multiplatform. However, this might not be a good decision for the gaming giant.
  • This strategy could be a double-edged sword, as it is more beneficial to its rivals.
  • PlayStation would benefit the most from this strategy since it would have an advantage in the exclusivity and hardware departments.

Since Xbox announced its decision to go multiplatform, fans have had mixed thoughts. While fans have largely opposed this decision, Nintendo and PlayStation users have been excited.

Even if this strategy can benefit Xbox in many ways, it might actually be more advantageous for Nintendo and PlayStation, and we might potentially see a massive decrease in Xbox’s appeal.

People might prefer Nintendo and PlayStation over Xbox, as this strategy would allow them to kill two birds with one stone. In simpler terms, it would allow them to enjoy exclusives from two platforms on a single console.

Why it matters: Exclusivity plays a massive role in a console’s success; great exclusives attract more people to your console, while the lack thereof can have the opposite effect.

The PlayStation Advantage

Xbox Games Showcase
Xbox Dominated PlayStation Store Downloads In May

I believe PlayStation will benefit the most from this multiplatform strategy, as the PS5 is powerful enough to handle Xbox exclusives well. In contrast, Nintendo hardware, while widely popular, lacks the necessary power.

Since PlayStation and Nintendo won’t be adopting a multiplatform approach, their exclusives will remain on their respective consoles. This exclusivity could drive consumers to switch to these platforms, as they would get to enjoy both their exclusives and Microsoft’s titles.

In turn, Xbox might see a decline in its player base, making owning the console a secondary choice rather than a priority among the many options on the market. It seems that Microsoft already knows this, as it reportedly doesn’t expect any hardware growth in the future.

While this tactic will certainly increase game sales, I don’t believe the benefits outweigh the potential damage to the platform as a whole.

The Future Is A Mystery

Xbox Series X Featured
Xbox Series S|X Sales Are Struggling In Comparison To The PS5 and Switch

Xbox clearly chose the worst possible timing to go multiplatform, as it has a plethora of amazing games coming soon, which, if marketed properly, could have attracted a wide audience to the platform.

However, since the gaming giant has decided to take this route, I hope it has a clear vision to move forward. Microsoft has shown a lot of interest in cloud gaming over the years, which now seems to be a main focus, though we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out from here.

Xbox has experienced many ups and downs throughout its journey, and it has learned a lot. The gaming giant likely has a solid reason for this decision, and I hope to see it ultimately work in Microsoft’s favor.

As a huge fan of the gaming giant’s consoles, I don’t want to see Xbox disappearing into obscurity. Therefore, I’m still hopeful about this new era that the company is headed toward.

Fortnite Does Not Deserve The Hate It Gets

Story Highlight
  • Fortnite has been one of the most popular titles released in recent years.
  • However, with its immense popularity, the game has also become one of the most hated titles in recent years.
  • The hate it receives is mostly unjustifiable since most people do not have a legitimate reason to dislike the game.

Since its launch, Fortnite has taken the internet by storm. The game is known for its unique building and editing mechanics and has been heavily involved in collaborations with various IPs around the world, including Marvel.

As we know, with popularity comes hate. To nobody’s surprise, Fortnite has been one of the most popular yet one of the most hated titles of recent years. In my opinion, this hate is completely unjustifiable.

Why it matters: Unjustified hate around video games creates toxicity in the gaming environment. This can lead to defamation of games and discrimination between players.

Fortnite Is Actually Good

OG Fotnite
Fortnite Reload Brought Back The OG Fortnite Map Recently

I get that Fortnite might not be to everyone’s taste, but that doesn’t make it a bad game; it simply means it doesn’t suit their preferences. People need to understand the difference between not liking something and hating it.

A big reason for this unjustifiable hate could be its immense popularity. Additionally, the cartoon-like graphics are often criticized, as modern audiences prefer more realistic visuals.

The game also appeals more to children and teenagers, which is another reason it might not resonate well with adults. However, this is hardly a reason to hate everything the title has achieved.

It’s not no small feat to boast 6 million concurrent players, and any game reaching such figures is surely doing something right.

The Long-Term Support

Fortnite Live Events
Fortnite’s Live Events Are Some Of The Best In The Industry

I acknowledge that Fortnite is not perfect and has many shortcomings that Epic needs to address. However, the focus here is on the unjustifiable hate that lacks solid reasoning.

Fortnite is far from a “bad” game, as the developers put in a lot of effort to keep the content engaging and ensure longevity. They are one of the few developers who genuinely listen to their fans and incorporate feedback to improve the experience.

For instance, the addition of the Zero Build mode was a response to demand from the community, and the return of the original map in Fortnite Reloaded is another example of the developers addressing popular requests.

Epic even updated the game with Unreal Engine 5, vastly improving the visual experience.

Considering all these points, hating the game simply for existing seems unreasonable to me. Often, the hate comes from people who never played Fortnite to begin with. They form opinions based on others’ negative views or general hate, and this needs to end.

I urge everyone to try the title themselves before jumping on the hate bandwagon. If it’s not for you, that’s fair. But judging it without any firsthand experience is a major issue that doesn’t sit well with me.

I hope the unwarranted hate around Fortnite gradually fades away and people start to recognize that such negativity is unfair to both the players and the developers who work hard on the game.

Valorant Does Not Deserve All The Hate It Has Received

Story Highlight
  • Since its launch, Valorant has gained considerable popularity; however, it has also attracted plenty of hate.
  • Most of this hate is for unfounded reasons, so I believe Valorant does not deserve it.
  • Players should ensure a positive environment for each other and avoid spreading unnecessary negativity in the gaming industry.

Since its launch, Valorant has exploded in popularity and attracted a large player base. However, despite its widespread appeal, the game has also faced considerable criticism, often for unfounded reasons.

Many people have labelled it a copy of Counter-Strike and criticized its competitive nature and challenging mechanics, which stem from the diverse abilities of different agents. Others hate the title for not being up to their preferences.

I believe these criticisms are unhelpful and create a negative atmosphere for baseless reasons. Valorant does not deserve the backlash it has received over the years, and it is way more than just another copied first-person shooter.

Why it matters: Unnecessary hate fosters a toxic environment that discourages potential players from trying the game, tarnishing a reputation already hard to build up.

Not Just Another Counter-Strike Clone

Valorant
Valorant gets too much hate for using a common idea.

Firstly, one of the main criticisms Valorant faces is the claim that it is a copy of Counter-Strike. This notion is unfounded as the game shares only a few similarities with Counter-Strike, many of which are common to tactical shooters in general.

Valorant stands out by introducing various agents, each with their unique abilities that players can use strategically to gain an advantage. This feature immediately differentiates the player experience from Counter-Strike and many other titles.

Additionally, Riot has done an excellent job of making Valorant accessible to a wide audience. The game is not very demanding in terms of system requirements, allowing it to run on less powerful computers.

Furthermore, Valorant boasts numerous features that set it apart from other competitive shooters, giving it a unique style and gameplay experience.

Not Everything Is For Everyone

Valorant
Valorant is not for everyone, and that’s okay.

The issue with the modern gaming industry is that people often confuse not liking something with hating it. This trend has been gaining popularity, as individuals who do not enjoy something quickly resort to expressing hate towards it, which is entirely unjustified.

The problem with this mindset is that there is a clear distinction between not liking a game and hating it. If something doesn’t suit your preferences, it’s natural not to like it. However, that doesn’t mean that thing is inherently bad or deserving of hate.

This is why I believe Valorant does not deserve the hate it has received. While I acknowledge that there has been legitimate criticism, it has been far outweighed by unreasonable negativity.

As gamers, it is our responsibility to foster a positive environment in the community, welcoming new titles instead of creating a toxic atmosphere that discourages people from trying new releases.

We should aim to keep our criticism constructive, avoiding baseless negativity that lacks legitimate ground.

In conclusion, we should be mindful of the developers’ efforts and recognize the hard work they put into each release. Constructive criticism helps improve their creations, while unreasonable hate only undermines them.

Elden Ring DLC Managed To Redeem The Most Hated Character

Story Highlight
  • Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree features multiple plot twists.
  • The story has taken a massive turn, clearing Mohg’s name from any allegations.
  • Miquella was the bad guy all along, as he used Mohg like a puppet.

Shadow of the Erdtree has proven to be a successful expansion for Elden Ring. The incredible DLC came with many new revelations, such as Marika’s origin and what happened between Malenia and Radahn.

Miquella’s scheme also came to light, shocking every single person. Of course, I didn’t expect the story to take such a turn, so it was a massive surprise. However, the most surprising thing was that the DLC addressed everything Mohg, Lord of Blood, was accused of.

Why it matters: Mohg, despite being one of the strongest demigods, was thought to be a despicable predator who wanted to achieve godhood.

Mohg Was A Mere Pawn To Miquella

Elden Ring Mohg Lord of Blood
Mohg, Lord of Blood Was Nothing But A Mere Pawn To Miquella

You might already know that Miquella was behind the fight between Radahn and Malenia. Basically, Miquella asked Radahn to be his consort, but he refused, so Miquella asked Malenia to attack Caelid. This would have caused Radahn to die, and his soul would reach the Shadow Realm, where he would become Miquella’s consort.

However, the body of Radahn ended up rotting, and his legs were cut in half. Also, certain hints indicate that he was blind. So, it would not have been able to serve as the main body for Radahn in the Shadow Realm.

That’s where Mohg comes into play. This person, who was hidden from all and lived in his castle as an omen, was done wrong by Miquella The Kind. This so-called persuader of peace used Mohg, who was already cursed, to enter the Shadow Realm.

Mohg was charmed by this pathetic empyrean and played the part without knowing it. However, that wasn’t the end of things. After the poor soul died, Miquella used his body to revive Radahn so he could fulfill the oath.

Radahn, despite not wanting to be Miquella’s consort, was forced to become one with Mohg’s body. So, everyone who thought Mohg was a predator and did ill things to Miquella has never been more wrong.

Mohg, Lord of Blood Apology Form

Radahn Vs Malenia
Radahn Vs. Malenia Was Orcastrated By None Other Miquella

Miquella was the one to blame, and for over two years, the community mocked the situation. Mohg was considered a predator who forced his ways with Miquella. It was thought that Miquella was pursuing Radahn to become his consort, but Malenia, without much thought, went to fight Radahn.

Due to this confusion, Mohg was said to have kidnapped Miquella, but nothing of that sort happened. Mohg never wanted to become an empyrean, let alone achieve godhood. The Lord of Blood is brother to Morgott, the person who I think has the best lore and cutscenes in the base game.

Both brothers were quite strong, and Mohg wasn’t bothering anyone as he peacefully lived in the Mohgwyn Palace. So, everyone who accused him of those horrible things should offer an apology and seek revenge on his behalf.

FromSoftware Went All Out With The Lore

No One Could Have Anticipated What FromSoftware Did With The Lore

There is so much more to the story, but it’s crazy how the developer made people think something for two whole years and dropped a lore bomb with the DLC. The plot twists were completely unexpected, but I am glad things turned out this way.

Miquella is the true definition of a hypocrite. He wanted to make the world a better place but to do so; he killed countless others. That said, Elden Ring has many plot twists, and a George R.R. Martin Fan can surely tell that this story comes straight from him.

Overall, in my opinion, the story is as close to perfection as a gaming narrative can get.

Mohg’s Revenge Has Been Taken

Beating Radahn and Miquella is The Only Way To Take Mohg’s Revenge

As for Mohg’s justice, I have already done my part. The final boss of the DLC is arguably the hardest foe I have ever faced. The boss might have some unfair moves, but given the source of my motivation, I was able to best him in a maximum of 3 hours.

Miquella’s reign came to an end before it even began, and this is something that gives me immense satisfaction. Ultimately, this story is all fiction, but Kudos to George R.R. Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki for writing a story so brilliantly that it makes emotions erupt.

Ex-Rockstar Dev Pushes For AI Revolution, Says GTA 6 Is Using AI

Story Highlight
  • Former Rockstar director advocates for increased AI use in game animation to enhance realism and efficiency.
  • Vermeij speculates GTA 6’s impressive animations may be AI-driven, especially in the beach scene from the trailer.
  • He believes Rockstar Games is the only studio that could lead an AI revolution in the gaming industry.

Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar Games director, has called for a big change in game development. He believes developers should use more AI and physics-based animations instead of relying on traditional hand-drawn techniques.

Vermeij’s comments come as the gaming industry’s big dogs consider using generative AI. He thinks that the future of game development will rely on using AI and physics to make animations more dynamic and realistic.

Why it matters: The use of AI in game development is becoming more and more common with each passing day.

Although Vermeij doesn’t have insider knowledge about GTA 6, he speculated on the impressive beach scene from the trailer, noting the dynamic animations for each character.

While talking during an interview, the former Rockstar director said he has heard that these animations might be using advanced AI and physics technology rather than being manually created.

I’ve heard rumors of GTA 6 using new technology and having to do with animation and AI and stuff.

Vermeij also believes that Rockstar Games is the only studio that can push for an AI revolution in the industry. If they start utilizing generative AI in video games, other studios will follow suit.

I think it’s time for a revolution where animation is not hand animated anymore.

Hand-drawn animations are artistic but take a lot of time and effort. AI, on the other hand, can manage repetitive tasks, giving developers more time to improve the overall experience.

GTA 6
The GTA 6 map is expected to feature 3 different islands apart from the main state.

Take-Two’s CEO previously said that AI will never be able to replace jobs. He recognizes that the technology can improve the efficiency and quality of development, but it will not replace creative professionals.

This isn’t the only odd thing Vermeij said in the interview. While talking about the expectations for GTA 6, he said it will not be any different from GTA 5, and people might be disappointed.

Anyhow, Vermeij does not want to take anything away from GTA 6, and believes it’s still going to be the best game out there.

The GTA 6 trailer has already broken records, quickly becoming one of the most-watched videos on YouTube with 200 million views. This just shows how hyped people are to get their hands on Rockstar’s biggest title to date.
