Starfield is facing numerous technical issues in its PS5 Port, according to analysts.
The game is crashing frequently and has a lot of modes that serve no purpose besides misleading players.
The RPG also has problems with the VSync toggle on PS5, making it an underwhelming port.
Despite being a decent game, Starfield has underwhelmed both fans and Microsoft since launch. The space RPG didn’t get the outstanding reception many predicted, with fans even calling it one of the most disappointing titles of this generation.
With its release on the PS5, many expected Starfield to see a revival, as it launched on the console with new DLC and a major upgrade. However, despite starting strong on the pre-order front, the Bethesda RPG is struggling on the platform due to a poorly optimised port.
Why it matters: Starfield has only disappointed players and Bethesda since its release, and it might be high time to accept that the title is not going to achieve the success many expected.
In its analysis of Starfield on PS5, Digital Foundry found the port underwhelming and prone to crashing. The RPG is rife with technical issues, the most apparent being the number of crashes, which obstructed analysts on at least 4 to 5 occasions in a few hours.
Starfield also has numerous other problems on the console, including a broken VSYNC toggle that can’t stabilise the frame rate and a poor mode configuration that runs the game at 30 FPS even when the 60 FPS performance toggle is on.
Furthermore, the analysts also criticised the sheer number of modes in Starfield, saying a lot of them are unnecessary and aren’t easy to navigate for a normal consumer, making it feel like Microsoft didn’t care enough while porting the RPG.
Starfield has underwhelmed in the sales and performance departments on the PS5.
The Bethesda title has technical issues on PS5 that aren’t present in any other version, and some PS5 Pro modes make the game even worse. All of these quirks, along with frequent crashes, make the PS5 Starfield port an underwhelming addition that analysts are unhappy with.

Switching from a mouse to a controller may feel difficult at first, but it becomes natural with time.
Controllers are better for comfort and smoothness over speed and precision.
The mouse-and-keyboard combo is still superior for FPS and competitive gameplay.
Controllers are better accustomed to narrative, exploration, and racing games.
As long as I can remember, I have used a keyboard and mouse for gaming. The mouse was the best tool for me. It was fast, accurate, and easy to control. To me, controllers were only good for console gaming and nowhere near as powerful as a mouse.
So I was completely prepared to be disappointed when I decided to ditch the mouse-and-keyboard combo and play only with a controller. But what happened changed my view on gaming peripherals entirely.
The Initial Struggle
It was not easy at first, and everything felt strange. My aim suffered drastically, and I was slow to the point where even simple tasks felt difficult. I kept reaching for my mouse instinctively and made a lot of mistakes, which would otherwise make me seem like a rookie. It felt like learning something entirely new, something which I wasn’t used to at all.
This cost me matches, and honestly, it was quite frustrating. Things got to the point where I just wanted to give up on the controller and go back to what I knew. Somehow tho I persevered and kept going.
My Adaptation
After a few weeks of using my PS5 controller, I started to notice some changes. My aim was better, the controller felt comfy and more. Slowly but surely, I was beginning to grasp how the controller actually worked.
The comparisons in my head to my old way of gaming stopped, and instead of aiming for fast, perfect play, I focused on being smooth and natural. The analogue sticks gave me more control in the game, and everything finally felt right.
Some Games Felt Better Than Others
I also noticed that some games felt better with a controller as compared to mouse. In open-world and story-based games, movement was smoother. Walking, running, and overall camera movement felt much smoother and more natural. Racing games felt amazing, thanks to the analogue controls, which let me adjust the magnitude of input, making driving a car feel realistic.
Gaming Mouse and Keyboard Combo – Image Credits (Pinterest)
But when it came to shooting games, that’s where I missed my mouse the most. In my experience, joysticks are nowhere near as precise as a mouse. Even with aim assist, the inputs did not feel as accurate as when using a mouse. This changed the way I played FPS games. I used to be all about quick reactions and fast gameplay, but the controller forced me into a more strategic, planned style.
Using a controller was also surprisingly relaxing and less hectic while doing long gaming sessions. My wrist didn’t nearly hurt as much, allowing me to immerse myself in the elaborate world of the games I was playing.
When The Realization Hit
For the longest time, I was actually scared of using a controller and watching my rank plummet. When I finally embraced it, I was almost shocked by how quickly I adapted. I noticed that over time, I developed a certain “flow” I stopped thinking about how to manage the controller, and it became as easy as using my mouse and keyboard.
Gaming Using a PS5 Controller Isn’t Half Bad – Image Credits (Tech4Gamers)
The haptic feedback, sensitive controls, and overall ergonomic design made playing with a controller a good option for me. After a while, the controller felt like home and was, frankly, easier to use than my mouse-and-keyboard combo. I realised that the way you play a game changes how the game feels to play.
Which Is Better?
A mouse and a controller are both good for their own separate reasons. A mouse allows for you to react almost instantaneously, whereas, when it comes to controller gaming, the gameplay becomes a tad slower, forcing you to soak in the game. It is a matter of preferences. I wouldn’t put either peripheral superior to the other.
If you like playing fast-paced shooting games or games that demand quick reactions and pinpoint precision to win, go for a low-latency mouse. However, if you’re more into adventure, racing, and narrative titles, then a controller might be the superior option.
Before starting this experiment, I thought controllers are not as good as a mouse. I now understand that they are just different control surfaces. I still use a mouse and keyboard for shooting games, but after a long day, when I want to lie back and relax, a controller is my choice.
Learning to use a controller was a difficult task; however, after overcoming the learning curve, I unlocked a new form of gaming and one that was very enjoyable. In the end Ill say that controllers are much better than I once thought.
At T4G, my task is to cover the latest news around the gaming globe ASAP and with the utmost precision. I adore all the games and respect all the devs behind the amazing games that we get all year. So, whether it’s a PC or a Console game, I got it all covered.

A previous rumor pointed out that Naughty Dog is working on another game besides Intergalactic.
An insider has claimed that the other title is a new Uncharted game, currently in development.
This comes after a previous tease by the game director that hinted at a new title.
Uncharted is undoubtedly one of the best PlayStation franchises of all time and holds a legendary status in the gaming world. The series has unfortunately not been revisited for a long time, but that could change soon.
There has been no new addition to it ever since 2017’s Lost Legacy. However, a recent post from the game director seemingly teased a new title, and an insider has now claimed that a new Uncharted is indeed in the works.
Why it matters: The Uncharted franchise has a huge loyal fan base that has been waiting patiently for years for Naughty Dog to finally announce something. Now, years later, we might not have to wait too long for that.
Insider claims that a new Uncharted game is indeed in development.
Alir, who recently also leaked the new upcoming Metro game announcement, has also claimed that a new Uncharted game is in development. This comes after a report that the studio is currently working on two projects.
One of them is, of course, the already announced Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and the other, according to the source, is a new addition to the popular action-adventure series that people have been longing for.
The studio hasn’t revisited the series since 2017’s Lost Legacy.
Now, it is difficult to verify the report’s credibility, but if it is indeed in the works, this is huge. A Thief’s End gave closure to Nathan Drake’s story, but it also, in a way, set up a sequel with Drake’s daughter as the lead.

Microsoft expects its upcoming hardware to reverse the poor sales performance of the current Xbox generation.
The new system functions as both a console and a PC, enabling users to access libraries from Steam and Epic Games.
Initial “alpha” development kits of Xbox Project Helix are expected to reach game developers in the first half of 2027.
Despite challenges in the current console generation, Microsoft is poised for a period of renewed success. Although the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S struggled to match the sales momentum of Sony’s PlayStation 5, even during periods of PS5 shortages caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company’s future now looks promising due to Microsoft’s next-generation console, Project Helix.
Microsoft hopes that Project Helix, which is a PC-console hybrid, will be different from Sony’s. This would allow players to play PC games from Steam and Epic Games alongside Xbox titles while moving between the two modes. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed this, but did not disclose any other information on price or release date.
While there is no official confirmation, we do have a link to Chicony Electronics, which manufactures power supplies for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo systems. Despite a revenue decline earlier this year, it plans to increase its console income by half in 2026.
Chicony has also reported a 36% increase in revenue for March 2026 compared to last month, despite the first quarter ending marginally lower than the previous year. Microsoft is one of their clients, and Project Helix is the only one we have official knowledge about (Sony hasn’t revealed anything about the PS6), so this revenue surge is likely due to that. It will be a double rise over the same period last year, and there aren’t many other explanations, except for the fact that a new generation of consoles is expected in 2027.
Nintendo Patents Watch on X stated that if power supply sales increase considerably in the second half of 2026, Project Helix development kits will be available in the first half of 2027 (H1 2027). These are “alpha” development kits, the initial stage in providing developers with a reference platform for producing Project Helix-compatible games. Following this news, there are two groups of people who will who believe the release date will remain at the end of 2027, and others who feel it may be published sooner.
Those who think it will be published around the 2027 holiday season believe the developers will be under enormous pressure and will need extra time. Others are more positive, believing that the new delivery date will bring Project Helix sooner. Kits could arrive between January and June 2027, as release dates are given in six-month periods.
Developers generally spend one or two years working with development kits, but because this is a PC-console hybrid, the timeline may be decreased. Although its major competitor is the PS6, which was rumored to be less expensive, the price difference may not be significant, as Sony’s next console will cost $999. Having a similar price in exchange for a PC-console hybrid platform will make it successful in sales.

A Metal Gear Solid movie is now officially in production by Sony Pictures.
The adaptation is being helmed by Final Destination Bloodlines directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.
Avi Arad and Ari Arad are the film producers who already have multiple gaming adaptations under their belt.
Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid franchise is one of the hallmarks of gaming and continues to sell like hotcakes. The remake of the 2004 classic launched last year to an incredible reception despite the performance issues, so fans have been craving more games.
A new report now confirms that a new Metal Gear Solid project is indeed happening, but not in the way anyone could have expected.
A movie adaptation is now in production by Sony Columbia Pictures, with the project being directed by Final Destination Bloodlines’ duo, Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.
Why it matters: The Metal Gear Solid franchise defined the stealth-action genre, so the news of a movie adaptation being confirmed has been incredibly well-received. This would be the franchise’s first cinema project despite its incredible popularity.
Metal Gear Solid is one of gaming’s most renowned stealth franchises.
This tidbit comes via The Hollywood Reporter, which confirms that Zach and Adam have signed an extensive deal with Sony Pictures to include all of the studio’s film labels. Sony Columbia Pictures’ Metal Gear Solid adaptation is a part of the contract.
Metal Gear Solid was nothing short of a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that forever revolutionized video games. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life.

Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing the film, two big names behind popular gaming adaptations, including Borderlands and The Legend of Zelda. Therefore, the anticipation is at an all-time high, but no other details about the cast and story have yet been confirmed.
The remake of the 2004 classic was also incredibly well-received.
On a side note, Konami also has big plans for the Metal Gear Solid franchise moving forward. It plans to preserve the series for the next few decades at least.
The team was also considering working on a new game last year—besides the remakes—despite the original staff having left.

A new Metro title will allegedly be confirmed next week with an official announcement.
This tidbit comes from a new leaker whose previous scoop was corroborated by a trusted insider.
We may see a teaser trailer or a simple confirmation by developers on Twitter soon.
The post-apocalyptic Metro franchise has only grown in popularity over the recent years, as players are especially drawn to the series’ dreadfully beautiful art style. So it’s no surprise that the last game has sold over ten million copies since its launch in 2019.
A new scoop now reveals that the next mainline Metro game is finally being announced next week. The last game, Metro Awakening, was a shorter VR-exclusive, so fans have been craving a more traditional experience in the franchise.
Why it matters: The new Metro project is finally ready enough to be revealed after years of waiting. The entry has faced a lot of hurdles during the development process because of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war that followed suit.
A new Metro title will reportedly be revealed next week, an insider claims.
This tidbit comes from @AlexandreNGamR, a new insider who already seems to have a decent reputation. He previously leaked the upcoming PlayStation State of Play date and its third-party focus, which was corroborated by the established insider, Nate the Hate.
4Games also teased the announcement of a new Metro title late last year, so the added timeline makes the rumor more credible. The game’s development was progressing swiftly by February 2025, and it had reportedly been in development since way before.
The game was also said to be in a very playable state as early as 2024, which means the studio might be performing final touch-ups on the Exodus sequel. We could even expect a late 2026 or an early 2027 launch window based on these tidbits.
Metro Exodus is considered to be one of the best post-apocalyptic entries by gamers.
Not much is known about the new title so far, but 4Games did confirm that it would have an even darker story than Exodus. Therefore, the community has incredibly high expectations.
The studio is also working on a separate new franchise, but nothing about it is known so far.
Do you think the new Metro game will retain the game’s popular ambiance and art style, or will it go in a different direction? Are you looking forward to the sequel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Phantom Blade Zero did not use any generative AI in development, according to S-Game.
Everything in the title, from paintings, visuals, character models, and maps, has been crafted by human hands.
The studio believes human artistry is the most valuable thing, and as the game nears completion, it’s proud of the developers who have worked on it.
Director Soulframe Liang has further intensified the excitement for Phantom Blade Zero by saying that the title doesn’t fit any current action gaming genre. Now, the developer has amassed even more good grace for the upcoming game by revealing that it doesn’t use any form of generative AI.
In an X post, developer S-Game revealed that Phantom Blade Zero didn’t use any kind of generative AI during development. The statement assured fans that all content in the action title has been crafted by human hands and maintains its original intent.
S-Game is aware of the AI technological revolution, but it isn’t interested in altering the state of Phantom Blade Zero by using AI Visual tech or something similar. The studio scanned its own cast for 3D models while hiring real actors for voice lines, unlike some games such as Arc Raiders.
Furthermore, Phantom Blade Zero developers practically used weapons before putting them in the game, examined real martial artists, and went to different places in China to scan them. The post also clarified that there are no AI-generated maps or paintings in the title and everything has been hand-drawn.
S-Game scanned its own cast for the character models.
S-Game believes that human artistry is the most valuable thing itself, and the studio is very proud of Phantom Blade Zero, which is nearing completion and is in the final stages of development.

The GTA 6 PC port will arrive just 3 months after the console release.
The online mode will be released a month after the single-player launch.
Marketing for the game kicks in the summer.
Historically, Rockstar releases arrive on consoles first and take about a year to arrive on PCs. It’s because these games are on a grand scale, and porting takes some significant time and resources.
Fortunately, though, things won’t be the same for GTA 6 as Rockstar’s next ambitious open-world will arrive on PCs sooner than expected. Based on the current leak timeline, it is expected to take less than 3 months after its console release.
Why it matters: Since GTA 6 has taken so much time to come out, it wouldn’t have been fair for PC users to wait a year after the game’s initial launch to play it. Fortunately, that won’t be happening this time around.
GTA 6 PC Release Date Might Be Happening Earlier Than Expected || X
Insider DetectiveSeeds claims to have spoken with a few developers at Rockstar about GTA 6’s PC release, and all of them corroborated the same statement: it’s currently scheduled for February 2027, around 3 months after the game’s initial launch on consoles on 17th November 2026.
It does make sense, though. Rockstar would want peak sales for GTA 6, since they’ve invested nearly $2 billion in development so far. Also, the initial launch would give a boost to console sales, as it falls within the holiday period.
February 2027 would further boost sales when console sales would dip post-holidays.
As for the Online mode, TheGhostOfHope, a known Call of Duty leaker with a solid track record of getting inside information right, claims a December 2026 release date.
The confirmation will arrive soon enough, as Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, plans to kick off marketing for the game in the summer, which is right around the corner. A trailer 3 showing gameplay footage might also be around the corner.

Nexon has axed the development of an open-world title described as a GTA-style fantasy game.
Codenamed Project EL, the title was in the works for over 2 years at the company.
New chairman Patrick Soderlund, who is also the boss of Arc Raiders, cancelled the title in a bid to revitalise the development pipeline of Nexon.
But, what if a video game were the mixture of Crimson Desert’s massive scale and the narrative of GTA’s exciting open-world? Well, the South Korean company Nexon had a title like this in development, which has now been cancelled.
Why it matters: Crimson Desert’s success has showcased that taking a chance on ambitious ideas does pay off if enough time and care are invested, but it seems like Nexon has other plans.
Nexon might regret cancelling an open-world fantasy title after Crimson Desert’s success.
According to the Korean site MTN, Nexon has cancelled Project EL, a GTA-style fantasy title with a massive open-world. The game had been in the works for two years at the company, beginning full-scale development in 2024 under AXE director Shim Ki-hoon.
However, the project has now been axed following the reassessment of all titles under construction at Nexon by new chairman Patrick Soderlund. The Arc Raiders boss, who is pushing for AI to redesign development at the Korean company, is building his own game pipeline for the studio.
Hence, all existing productions at Nexon are under review as Soderlund restructures the development landscape based on the principles of Embark Studios. Project EL is the first and most notable casualty so far, as the title had gained attention for its promise of building a fantasy world in the vein of GTA.
Arc Raiders boss Patrick Soderlund is responsible for this cancellation as he is rebuilding Nexon’s development pipeline.
As per the report, all developers working on the fantasy title are waiting to be reassigned, and a massive project review will be held to assess what went wrong.
Do you think Nexon should have cancelled a title that seems like a combination of Crimson Desert and GTA? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Voices38 has successfully cracked the first 2026 title using Denuvo: Resident Evil Requiem.
The Capcom title was cracked without needing a hypervisor layer, making it an old-school crack.
Voices38 also revealed that the anti-tamper’s new version only had two additional features.
The debate around the Denuvo DRM has been going on for a while now as modern titles continue to implement the anti-tamper tech. Despite analysis showing that Denuvo does impact performance, games like Crimson Desert, Pragmata, and the global phenomenon Resident Evil Requiem continue to use it.
Developers use the technology because it makes piracy harder, even though many gamers complain about the performance downsides of Denuvo. However, despite the DRM’s protection, someone has managed to crack Resident Evil Requiem just a month after its launch.
Why it matters: Cracking Denuvo-protected games without a hypervisor has been a challenge. Hence, the method used by voices38 for the horror game is definitely an innovation.
On Reddit, voices38 revealed that he has cracked Resident Evil Requiem, making it the first 2026 Denuvo game available for piracy. Alongside Doom: The Dark Ages, the Capcom title has joined a small list of games with the anti-tamper tech to be cracked cleanly.
What makes this crack special is that voices38 did not use the hypervisor bypass method. This Resident Evil Requiem crack used the old-school approach to get through Denuvo, not a workaround that is beta-quality, while also being a higher security risk.
Hypervisor cracks had become a very popular way to bypass Denuvo protection, so much so that the company had to release countermeasures to fight off this method. However, voices38 cracked Resident Evil Requiem cleanly in only two weeks, making it run properly without any workarounds or a hypervisor layer.
The game was cracked in two weeks.
On Reddit, he also revealed that the 2026 Denuvo DRM only had two new features compared to last year’s edition used by Doom: The Dark Ages.
Will we see more Denuvo releases get cracked easily now, considering voices38 has managed to get through Resident Evil Requiem in a clean and proper manner? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

A major media outlet has revealed that Bungie spent a whopping $200 million on Marathon.
It might have even exceeded $250 million, and this doesn’t account for post-launch support.
The game will need to be a huge financial success if it wants to become profitable or even break even.
Bungie’s Marathon was a long time in development, and the game was finally released in March. The title had several delays, poor internal assessments, and more, so it was already established that the budget must be quite high.
However, a prominent firm has confirmed that Bungie spent a staggering over $200 million on the development of Marathon. This amount could even be higher than $250 million, and this doesn’t even include post-launch content and updates.
Why it matters: While the game has decent reviews on Steam and PlayStation Store, its player base isn’t too strong. Just on Steam, it has already lost almost 60% of its peak player base in just around a month since release.
Marathon reportedly had a development budget of over $200 million
Forbes journalist Paul Tassi has confirmed that Marathon’s development budget was over $200 million and might have even exceeded $250 million. This puts it almost in the same context as massive AAA titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
This shows that Sony and Bungie had a lot of trust in the live service title. However, the sales have largely been lacklustre, as it has reportedly only sold 1.2 million copies so far, and its biggest platform is Steam.
The game’s metacritic reviews have divided the players
So, Marathon sales need to be significantly higher than what they are right now for it to even break even, let alone become profitable. However, the studio has stated it’ll support it for a long time, so they might eventually get there.
What are your thoughts on the Marathon development budget being over $200 million? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

Samsung and SK Hynix are moving away from short-term or annual sales in favor of binding three to five-year agreements with major tech firms.
These long-term deals allow memory makers to partner with clients during the initial design phases of AI hardware.
Locking in prices and volumes for several years reduces the financial risk of sudden market downturns.
Samsung and SK Hynix are making a move at a critical time for the memory industry, transitioning from one-year memory supply contracts and, in some cases, quarterly contracts to three- to five-year deals with major technology companies.
According to Aju News, both companies plan to use Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) to sell products and engage with clients, starting in the early phases of AI memory development. This information placed the move within new agreements signed with important clients in 2026, putting smaller companies at a disadvantage compared to the giants.
This information further indicates that Samsung has agreed that, beginning this year, new contracts with major clients will have a minimum duration of 3 years under an LTA framework. Also, Samsung was still accepting “quarterly” contracts until 2025, when it shifted to weekly contracts due to the market’s rapid pace.
Moreover, it includes a statement made at the general meeting on March 18 by Jun Young Hyun, vice president and head of DS, stating that the company is pushing for a change from annual or quarterly contracts to multi-year agreements lasting 3 to 5 years.
The article provides additional information suggesting that under this deal, Samsung would offer memory to businesses such as Microsoft and Google for a three-year period. SK Hynix is negotiating a five-year general-purpose DRAM supply contract with Google. Initially, a three-year contract was proposed, but the term was extended to five years after an internal assessment found it was too short.
SK Hynix is Google’s preferred supplier for 5th-generation HBM3E. Based on this, the negotiations would include the prospect of finalizing the deal in the first half of the year, which would shorten the schedule from the original goal of completing it in the year.
To provide some context, in the previous model, conventional memory for PCs, laptops, and mobile devices was sold at quarterly or daily spot-market pricing, so a decline in demand could lead to rapid price drops and major losses.
In terms of the impact of LTAs, three specific issues are highlighted as lowering the risk of an order gap: securing price and volume for 3 or even 5 years, researching supply pricing policies and minimum yearly quantities, and budgeting CAPEX more precisely by committing a portion of the volume.
It’s reported that, with products like HBM memory, which have greater process complexity and varying customer needs, a method similar to that of traditional chip makers like Intel or TSMC is used: order first, then produce.
Concluding this ends with that news; this protects both companies but puts additional pressure on their consumers, who must be confident that their hardware investments will provide a large return in three to five years to begin compensating for current expenses. If the bubble bursts sooner, pandemonium is certain; if they succeed, their move is extremely advantageous compared to their competitors’.
