Naughty Dog moved on from the Uncharted franchise nearly a decade ago, but fan demand for a return to the series has never been stronger. With Naughty Dog’s recent output limited to The Last of Us, many believe now is the time to return to Uncharted’s more action-focused nature.

Although Naughty Dog is currently hard at work on Intergalactic, not much else is known about the studio’s other endeavors. However, a recent image has given Uncharted some hope to cling to.

Why it matters: Uncharted set the stage for Naughty Dog’s unparalleled success in the single-player games genre, and many still believe that the series remains the developer’s best work to date.

Shaun Escayg previously directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy at Naughty Dog, and his latest Instagram post states that the developer is “researching” what appears to be his next project.

The image itself shows Fort George in Trinidad, highlighting a scenic view very reminiscent of Uncharted’s locations. Because of this undeniable resemblance, the comments on this post are also full of speculation regarding the developer working on another Uncharted project for Naughty Dog.

Making matters more interesting, a leaker previously said that director Shaun Escayg had begun working on a project for Naughty Dog as far back as 2022. Because the team is known to be working on more than one project currently, hopes are higher than ever for Uncharted’s revival.
