Devs Are Working Overtime To Prepare A Demo For Internal Assessment!

Story Highlight
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has reportedly set a mid-2027 release window.
  • Naughty Dog devs are enduring a crunch to prepare a demo for internal assessment.
  • The game has a lot to prove as it’s the studio’s first new IP in many years.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is Naughty Dog’s next major IP after so many years. It was announced at last year’s The Game Awards, but a release window wasn’t mentioned; that has now changed based on a new report.

Naughty Dog has reportedly asked its developers to work overtime to prepare an internal demo for Intergalactic for quality assessment. The game is scheduled for a mid-2027 release, so the studio is hard at work

Why it matters: There is a lot of skepticism surrounding the title, as its trailer has been bombarded with dislikes, with some already calling it a DEI-infested project. Therefore, the studio has a point to prove with its latest title.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet
Intergalactic is targeting a mid-2027 release window

According to a Bloomberg report, The Last of Us studio has its employees are enduring a crunch for the last 7 weeks to prepare a demo for Sony to review internally. They have been working almost 8 hours overtime since late October.

More importantly, the title is targeting a mid-2027 launch, as Sony already has a tentpole title, Marvel’s Wolverine, for 2026, along with GTA 6. This makes sense as the studio would want to avoid the already very stuffed 2026.

Fans called out the protagonist’s design, claiming the game’s already DEI-infested

Currently, we don’t have many details on the project except that it’s Naughty Dog’s first space venture and features notable names like Tati Gabrielle from the Uncharted movie and Kumail Nanjiani from Silicon Valley and Eternals.

Naughty Dog has yet to miss a mark as of yet. Its last title, The Last of Us Part 2, remains one of the most awarded games of all time, and all the rest of the projects have been immensely successful as well.
