Stellar Blade Reportedly Earns $317 Million as PC Sales Nearly Match PS5

Stellar Blade Estimated at $316.9M Revenue, 5.4M Copies

Story Highlight
  • Alinea Analytics estimates Stellar Blade has generated $316.9 million in revenue across PS5 and Steam.
  • Estimated unit sales are 50.4% PS5 and 49.6% Steam, but estimated revenue is split 59.7% PS5 and 40.3% Steam.
  • The result strengthens the case for Sony-backed single-player games finding a major second life on PC.

Alinea Analytics estimates Stellar Blade generated $316.9 million in revenue from 5.4 million copies sold on PS5 and Steam combined. Estimated unit sales are nearly even, 50.4% on PS5 and 49.6% on Steam, but the revenue split is not: 59.7% PS5 versus 40.3% Steam. The estimates exclude the newer Switch 2 edition.

How Stellar Blade’s PC and PS5 Sales Compare

The near-even split applies to copies sold, not dollars earned. It suggests the June 2025 Steam launch brought in an audience comparable in size to the earlier PS5 release. We’ve already seen how the PC launch helped lift console sales after release.

Shift Up previously expected the PC version to eventually outsell PS5, as IGN reported. The new estimate suggests Steam has nearly caught up in units, not yet passed PS5.

For publishers, the comparison illustrates how a later PC port can broaden a single-player game’s reach, though it doesn’t establish any causal effect on PS5 demand.

The figures suggest substantial demand on both platforms, but they cannot prove whether one version increased or reduced sales of the other. At this scale, Stellar Blade has become a substantial franchise asset for Shift Up.

Alinea’s estimates also put 41% of total copies sold in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, illustrating the importance of Asian markets to the game. Shift Up’s earlier expectation that PC could overtake PS5 helps explain why it prioritized the port.

That doesn’t mean every PlayStation-published or PlayStation-adjacent game will follow the same path. Stellar Blade had a few clear advantages: strong visual identity, action-heavy combat, high Steam visibility, and plenty of online conversation before and after release.

The $316.9 million estimate is revenue, not net profit; platform fees, development and marketing costs still matter. Alinea’s independent methodology means the precise totals may differ from Shift Up’s internal records.

The big question now is how Shift Up and Sony treat Stellar Blade going forward. A sequel, more DLC, or a wider franchise push would not be surprising after numbers like these, though nothing new should be treated as confirmed until the companies say so.

That makes the PC release a substantial second market for the franchise, even with lower estimated revenue per copy than PS5. What do you think Stellar Blade’s near-even PC and PS5 split means for future PlayStation-backed releases?
