Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters aren’t around the corner, according to insider Jez Corden.
The game’s Steam entries have nothing to do with a shadow-drop.
Fallout 3’s remaster is predicted to release in 2026, while the New Vegas remaster will launch much later.
With Amazon’s Fallout TV show premiering its second season, the franchise is back in the limelight. Gamers were expecting Bethesda to release a remake to coincide with the show’s release, as Fallout 5 is still far away, but the developer has been radio silent.
Reports have confirmed that both Fallout 3 and New Vegas are receiving the remake treatment from the studio, but according to insider Jez Corden, these titles aren’t dropping imminently.
Why it matters: The franchise has seen a surge in interest with the release of Fallout season 2, so not releasing a remake to capitalise on the TV show is a missed opportunity.
Fans were expecting the Fallout remakes to shadow-drop just like Oblivion Remastered
In a new report, Jez Corden revealed that remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas won’t be released soon. The insider explained that, even though development is well underway, these titles won’t shadow-drop like Oblivion Remastered did last year.
Corden also debunked some fan assumptions, saying that the recent Steam updates for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas had nothing to do with the release of a remastered version. The activity was due solely to updates to the localised editions of the existing games.
However, fans won’t have to wait too long, as the Fallout 3 remaster is set to release in 2026, according to Corden’s prediction. Just like the Oblivion Remaster, the title will have Unreal Engine 5 features implemented in the base Creation Engine code.
Fallout 3 Remaster will launch before New Vegas, potentially in 2026.
No release date has yet been confirmed for either remaster. But, fans will get to play Fallout 3 first as the game is set to drop before the New Vegas remaster, which is going to take a bit more time.
Are you excited to play the remasters of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, or do you think Fallout 5 should have been released by now? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Gaming subscriptions represent a shift in the perception of value.
Subscriptions make for more predictable spending habits, allowing for greater control over gaming expenses.
Many also prefer a hybrid model between subscriptions and traditional purchases for a balanced approach.
Gaming subscriptions remain incredibly popular today, with the likes of Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus offering one big game after another. In many cases, these services have changed how audiences interact with the medium.
Where ownership was once a core part of gaming, the subscription model has made it so gamers now have more options than ever.
Why it matters: All major gaming giants have invested in subscriptions one way or another, impacting the entire landscape of the industry.
Predictable Spending Changes Player Behavior
Game Subscriptions Are Bigger Than Ever Today [Image Credits: GameSpot]One major benefit of using a subscription is that it does not come with the unpredictability of traditional releases.
Subscriptions cost the same amount and can be easily planned around. Moreover, some people take things one step further and invest in buying Venmo gift cards cheaper, limiting how much money is spent at any given moment.
Subscriptions can even limit decision fatigue since players do not have to search the entire store for games.
Access Versus Ownership
The subscription model, of course, is not devoid of drawbacks. For starters, it fundamentally differs from ownership in the way that content on subscriptions does not stay in a person’s library forever.
Games often leave subscriptions, making it so players’ favorite titles can be present one day and then disappear the next. This is problematic for players who do not actively keep up with the news cycle and end up shocked when the game they were playing is no longer accessible.
Therefore, a balance between ownership and subscription-based gaming is the best bet for most people.
The Value of Time
PS Plus And Xbox Game Pass Make Time More Valuable For Gamers
Subscriptions also make the time spent on games even more valuable. Players who have limited time to spend on the hobby may not be able to make the most of a monthly or annual subscription.
In such cases, focusing on a select few titles makes more sense than trying to play a bit of everything.
Free Games
Subscriptions can even become gateways to free games. Although this might sound counterintuitive, subscriptions offer instant and easy access to free games like Valorant and Genshin Impact.
This can come in handy as these subscriptions offer completely safe paths to these games, mitigating risks associated with unsafe sources. Eneba even features deals on Genshin Impact premium currency.
ALso, Eneba fits naturally into that flow, thanks to the presence of verified sellers, discounts, fast code access, and more on the platform.
Ultimately, the subscription model has completely changed how gamers perceive value and look at gaming. For the best results, combining this model and paid purchases is recommended.

Microsoft AI CEO says that we can expect intimate AI companions in 5 years.
In the same message, Mustafa Suleyman says the companion will help navigate through life challenges.
AI chatbots as companions is a sensitive topic, as it has led to both fortunate and tragic events.
Microsoft has been pushing for worldwide AI adoption, which makes sense considering its $80 billion investment into data centers. The tech giant has started imposing generative AI across all its services, with the Copilot assistant transforming every Windows 11 system into an AI PC.
Now, the company has more absurd remarks to follow. According to an executive at Microsoft, AI companions will be available within about 5 years, and they’ll know users deeply and live alongside them.
Why it matters: AI has caused more harm to the world than good, and the way things are progressing now, we’re truly headed towards a dystopian future.
Microsoft AI CEO, Mustafa Suleyman, had the following to say in a new video message:
In 5 years time, everybody will have their own AI companion, which will know them so intimately and so personally that it will come to live life alongside you.
AI chatbots certainly have the capability to be friends, and there are already platforms like Replika and Nomi.AI that serve the same purpose. However, Microsoft’s adoption will certainly exceed that, as it aims to create a unified AI experience across all its products and services, possibly through Co-Pilot.
Still, the prospect of a personal, close AI companion is quite perilous, given recent events surrounding ChatGPT, which encouraged a teen to commit dangerous acts that led to a tragic outcome.
But on the other hand, we have cases of people marrying AI chatbots, like this one Japanese woman who recently got married to ‘Klaus’, an AI persona created through ChatGPT.
Perhaps the 5-year window Microsoft is talking about is to further refine the experience and create a safe environment for people to interact with the companions. Nevertheless, the drawbacks are far too great to neglect since AI is quite unpredictable.
What is your response to Mustafa’s insight on this AI development? Do you think intimate AI companions are a good idea? Let us know in the comments below, or at the official Tech4Gamers Forums.

The estimated cost for The Witcher 4 is around $800 million, making it one of the most expensive video games to develop.
The Witcher 3 cost $81 million to make, meaning the budget for the successor is 10X that.
There are nearly 500 people working on The Witcher 4, and with a game engine change and a long development lifecycle, the increased budget makes sense.
With brand-new beginnings for The Witcher series and a hiatus of more than a decade, expectations for the upcoming RPG are through the roof. CD Projekt Red is taking its sweet time with the project, hoping not to repeat its past mistakes with Cyberpunk 2077.
The scale of The Witcher 4 will be unlike we’ve ever seen from the studio, as it marks the shift to a brand-new protagonist and a new engine, shifting away from the proprietary redENGINE towards Unreal Engine 5. All of this work has also significantly raised the game’s budget, which is estimated to come down to nearly $800 million by one analyst.
Why it matters: Only a few games (GTA 6 and Star Citizen) have ever surpassed the $500 million budget mark for their development. The Witcher 4, costing nearly $1 billion, goes to show that the upcoming single-player RPG might be one for the books.
As reported by Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski, CD Projekt Red’s release timeline was laid out. In the same report, he mentioned the Witcher 4’s budget, estimating PLN 1.4 billion each for development and marketing costs, which comes down to precisely $776 million.
Just for reference, The Witcher 3 cost $81 million to develop, meaning the development cost for the successor is nearly 10X higher.
Nearly 500 people are working on The Witcher 4, which is set to release in Q4 2027, as per the same report. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red has been investing heavily in Unreal Engine 5, which has increased the game’s development costs.
The report further reveals that the next Witcher trilogy is expected to be released within a 6-year window after The Witcher 4. The entire budget for the trilogy (development only) is PLN 3.2 billion, or $887 million.

Expedition 33 is now the title with the most Game of the Year awards of all time.
It has surpassed The Last of Us Part 2 and Elden Ring to take the first spot.
The title has been universally praised for its excellent story, characters, and more.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has its shortcomings, but most will agree that it is a near-perfect game, especially considering its scale and the small team of developers. The game has now made history, cementing its place amongst the greatest.
Expedition 33 has finally overtaken Elden Ring for the most game of the year award wins in history. Elden Ring sits at 435, while Sandfall’s RPG now has 436, and it is on track to win even more based on nominations at other events, too.
Why it matters: When the game was first revealed, no one anticipated that it would be this huge. There was promise considering it was led by former Ubisoft employees, but not even the studio itself saw it becoming this successful.
The game has been a success beyond the studio’s imaginations
A ResetEra thread has a very handy compilation that tracks all the game of the year awards won by different games over the years. Expedition 33 now towers above all with a whopping 436 award wins.
The top 3 standings now are:
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – 436 Awards
Elden Ring – 435 Awards
The Last of Us Part 2 – 326 Awards
Elden Ring now takes the 2nd place for the most GOTY wins
The RPG was reportedly made with a budget of under $10 million and a team of just about 30 people. What Sandfall managed to deliver with a not-so-high budget and a relatively small team is truly amazing and appreciable.
The game has had controversies, especially because of its initial use of undisclosed AI, but Sandfall later cleared the air. Nonetheless, Expedition 33 will now be remembered for years to come and has put Sandfall on the gaming map.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has issued a warning regarding the AI bubble.
He states that widespread adoption of artificial intelligence is necessary to ensure it doesn’t remain a bubble.
Despite the current adoption rates, the CEO remains confident that AI will eventually be a positive force around the globe.
The AI boom is well underway, enticing practically everyone toward the technology. Interest in AI has been so significant, in fact, that investments in the industry have led to global memory shortages.
Microsoft is among the biggest backers of generative AI at the moment, but CEO Satya Nadella has issued a small warning for the world. He believes that the AI bubble could burst without mass adoption of the technology.
Why it matters: Microsoft has invested billions of its own dollars into artificial intelligence developments like Copilot. Needless to say, the company intends to stay at the forefront of the AI race.
Microsoft Calls All Windows PCs ‘AI PCs’
As reported by the Financial Times, Satya Nadella recently noted that the benefits of artificial intelligence must not be limited to tech groups.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum, he discussed the fact that AI needs to be useful to companies in other sectors to truly break free of the allegations that the industry is currently a bubble.
Despite growing concerns, the Microsoft CEO remains confident in artificial intelligence. He has faith in the technology eventually benefiting the economy and other aspects of human life worldwide.
For this not to be a bubble by definition, it requires that the benefits of this are much more evenly spread. I’m confident that this is a technology that will bring local surplus and economic growth.
-Satya Nadella
Nadella Continues To Promote Copilot And Other AI-Based Technologies
Satya Nadella also stated that the future would see the wide adoption of different models. Moreover, he put forth the idea that companies could even come up with their own AI models for tailored solutions and results.

Firm predicts Switch 2 may face a price increase due to high memory costs, tariffs, and macroeconomic conditions.
They recommend buying a Switch 2 handheld now, when the price is right.
This also spells bad news for Valve, which plans to release the Steam Machine soon.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was launched in uncertain times, when the Trump administration was imposing tariffs worldwide, increasing production costs for the handheld. Fortunately, Nintendo was able to counter that by strategically building inventory and keeping the Switch 2 price stable.
However, they can only do so for so long, and now the manufacturer may lose out in the crumbling landscape of the current hardware scene. A research firm estimates a Switch 2 price hike will be announced soon.
Why it matters: Buying new hardware has become increasingly difficult, and the Switch 2 already costs a pretty penny for a handheld. Anything above the current MSRP, and sales of the hybrid consoles will stumble.
Nintendo Admitted That High Memory Costs Are Causing Problems With Profitability
Niko Partners, a research firm known for video game statistics, published its predictions for 2026, and they didn’t have good news for Nintendo fans. The firm is encouraging gamers to buy a Switch 2 now because a global price hike will soon take effect.
But we believe the Switch 2 is set to follow in Sony and Microsoft’s footsteps with its own price hike driven by the impact from tariffs, increased memory costs, and broader macroeconomic conditions.
Nintendo stockpiles supplies for long-term manufacturing, and high production levels help it keep costs reasonable. However, memory prices have surged through the roof recently, and the company can’t help but raise prices.
The company may even stop selling the base console by itself and start selling bundles instead to push average prices up without sparking backlash. This means the Switch 2 will start at $500 or more.
The gaming giant is in a difficult situation: it hasn’t even been a year since the handheld’s launch, and sales have faltered recently. The Switch 2 sold less than its predecessor during the first holiday period after its launch.
Not just Nintendo, but all major manufacturers catering to consumers are in a tough spot right now. Valve is entering the home console market for the second time, and high memory costs will determine the Steam Machine’s success.
At the same time, Sony is also likely to raise PS5 console prices. The memory fiasco is also likely to force manufacturers to delay next-gen consoles, causing a major setback for the entire gaming industry.

With the rise of handheld PCs, cloud gaming and mobile hardware consoles are no longer essential.
Devices such as the Steam Deck and the ASUS ROG Ally offer console-level gaming on the go.
Lately, even mobile phones and TVs can run AAA games through cloud gaming platforms.
Ecosystems are becoming more important than devices with Game Pass, PS PC ports and cross-platform libraries.
Consoles have always been at the heart of gaming. From PlayStation 2’s dominance to the Xbox 360, if you wanted good gaming back in the day, a console was the way to go. Today, however, we can see this changing. Cloud Platforms, handheld PC hybrids and gaming ecosystems are changing the gaming industry at a high pace. Seeing this, a question arises: do players actually need consoles anymore? Let’s dive right into the details.
Player Expectations Have Shifted
When the Nintendo Switch launched, it didn’t just introduce another gaming platform; it changed players’ perceptions of what hardware can offer. Having portability, flexibilty and the seamless transition from one playstyle to another became just as important as raw power. Valve’s Steam Deck pushed this a step further by showing that handhelds can deliver console-level gaming and portable freedom simultaneously.

The hybrid era is widening the gap between traditional console philosophy and what players want. What players these days expect is the freedom to play wherever, whenever, as they like. Devices such as the ROG Ally, Legion Go, and others allow more freedom than traditional consoles ever could.
Less Need For Extensive Hardware
Cloud gaming has made players’ lives easier. Services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce Now have made it clear that hardware is no longer the only gateway to AAA gaming. For many players, their TVs and phones are becoming their console in disguise. Log in to the cloud and start playing on basic hardware; there’s no need for high-end consoles or gaming rigs.
XBOX Cloud Gaming Service – Image Credits (Tech4gamers)
Imagine it like this with the help of Cloud Gaming, if your phone, tablet or modest laptop can play AAA games such as Forza or Cyberpunk, the value proposition of the traditional console drops. Why spend more on a console when you can have a similar smooth experience with minimal hardware? All you need is the Cloud and a normal mid-range device.
Ecosystems Mean More Than Devices
The Game Pass showcases that players value gaming libraries more than branded plastic boxes. Microsoft has also been trying for the longest time to steer the industry away from hardware dependency. Meanwhile, PlayStation’s shift toward PC gaming suggests that it can no longer rely solely on console gaming. Even Nintendo is rumoured to be exploring Cloud Gaming and mobile extensions.
The real competition isn’t in hardware anymore; it’s in engagement and ecosystem loyalty. Assume you purchase a game or a subscription, it can exist across multiple devices. However, when it comes to consoles, it is just one access point among many.
Valve’s Steam Deck – Image Credits (Laptop Mag)
Developers have now changed the way games are designed from day one. In modern games scailability is kept paramount, ensuring that they run on a variety of hardware. Cross-play, cross-save and cross-progression are no longer premium features, but are basic expectations. In this way, new advances in the gaming industry have weakened the reliance of players on a single device.
The Plus Side of Consoles
Despite all these shifts in the industry and player preference, consoles still hold one advantage: their simplicity. All you have to do is plug in, install and play, no extensive setups or difficult user interfaces. For many gamers, this simplicity matters more than flexibility or raw gaming power.
Recently, however, even this advantage is fading away as handheld consoles are offering console-level UI layers. Mobile gaming setups are becoming more streamlined, and even smart TVs are shipping with pre-installed cloud gaming apps. The convenience that was once provided by consoles is now significantly reduced.
Consoles won’t disappear in the future. Instead, they will exist as part of a larger ecosystem. They won’t be at the centre of the gaming industry anymore, but will remain a convenient option for gamers with a broader network of devices. The hybrid era isn’t telling gamers to abandon consoles. Instead, it is showing that you don’t always need a console to experience the best of gaming.

Analysis into Denuvo shows how and why it impacts performance in games.
Many titles reportedly play worse with it due to most of the CPU cache and optimization being invalidated.
Timing checks, fingerprinting, and integrity checks also add additional CPU overhead.
Denuvo’s withering reputation in the industry has long been clear, and many studios that add it face major backlash. The anti-tampering solution has been blamed for trashing the performance in games, and new analysis now reveals exactly how it messes things up.
The code recompiled by Denuvo is filled with protective measures to make it confusing. It reportedly invalidates CPU cache and undoes most of the game’s optimization. Added timing checks, fingerprinting, and integrity checks put more pressure on the CPU.
The cost of all these technical processes is slower load times, stuttering, and lower FPS that we see in games with Denuvo.
Why it matters: Denuvo worsening game performance has long been suspected in the industry, but new analysis digs into the anti-DRM’s inner workings to show what potentially causes FPS decline and stutters.
Code recompiled by Denuvo massively impacts performance in games.
YouTuber Nathan Baggs analyzed Denuvo, and programmer @valigo corroborated the findings on Twitter. In layman’s terms, Denuvo wraps parts of the game’s code in a custom virtual machine. The normal compiled instructions are translated into this VM’s instruction sets.
Denuvo’s stack-based VM is a software layer that pretends to be a CPU but forces instructions through a stack system. This process applies protective tricks to make code harder to reverse engineer.
At runtime, the VM JITs (just-in-time) compile the translated instructions into something that the real CPU can execute, but introduce junk jumps and obfuscation, making the CPU’s instruction pipeline and branch predictor work harder.
The optimized loops, memory access, and instruction orders get undone by Denuvo’s VM by reordering and wrapping instructions. This leads to the loss of optimization and CPU cache in games.
Our CPUs rely on caching and speculative execution, so when code is constantly rebuilt in odd patterns by Denuvo, the cache gets invalidated and tanks performance.
The anti-tampering software is treated as the bane of modern gaming by the industry. However, the findings of this analysis have not been officially explained by the creators of Denuvo, so take the implications and claims with a grain of salt.
Do you think Denuvo is entirely to blame for how badly AAA games tend to perform these days, or is that criticism just too far-fetched? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

There were reports that Nvidia is killing off its RTX 5070 Ti due to memory issues.
Nvidia declined the report, but the prices reflect that the supply is indeed restricted.
Launched at $750 MSRP, the RTX 5070 Ti is now selling for up to $1500.
Some recent reports revealed that Nvidia is killing off its GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU, with RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB getting affected as well. Although the reports were denied, it appears the supply has indeed been significantly reduced.
The RTX 5070 Ti launched at an MSRP of around $750, making it an excellent proposition for upper-midrange PCs. However, it’s now selling for nearly twice as much, with premium variants costing up to $1500.
Why it matters: Reports pointed to Nvidia focusing more on the production of GPUs with 8 GB or less of VRAM, which is now shaping up to be true, as GPUs with higher VRAM are now getting huge price hikes.
The GPU is now selling for up to $1500 amid supply issues.
On Newegg, the cheapest RTX 5070 Ti in stock costs about $1250, while premium versions like the ROG could cost up to $1500, which is substantially more than the original MSRP of the RTX 5080.
While Newegg has some stock at higher prices, Amazon doesn’t have the card in stock at all, highlighting how supply has deteriorated, driving prices higher. The RTX 5080 is selling close to $2000, and the RTX 5090 is selling for over $5000.
RTX 5090 can now cost over $5000, depending on the variant.
Anyhow, this is a really bad time to be a PC gamer. Nvidia has hinted that it is set to rerelease some of its older GPUs with new AI features to tackle the shortage, so they could be the best bet for most people.
What are your thoughts on RTX 5070 Ti selling for almost twice its MSRP? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

A new Sony patent proposes that players control games solely through lip movements.
Users can chat with others using silent lip movements. The system automatically produces speech.
The patent also discusses a real-time translation feature that translates speech into other players’ languages.
PlayStation and Xbox have seen great innovations over the last decade, but the voice chat feature has remained practically unchanged. A new Sony patent filing proposes a next-gen audio system that enables real-time game controls via silent lip movements.
We have found a new Sony patent that describes a next-gen chat-and-voice control system. It uses advanced AI and sensors to let players control single and multiplayer games with lip movements, without producing any sounds.
So, a user can issue voice commands to control gameplay and other mechanics, such as pausing and opening the menu. It is pitched as a great accessibility feature for gamers with stutters or tremors. But there’s much more to this patent.
A form of ‘silent’ voice control may be implemented based on the determined intended speech input of the first user. This provides a new form of input for users, and can further improve accessibility of the game by allowing speech impaired users to control the game without providing manual inputs.
Why it matters: Sony could revolutionize gaming with this next-gen voice system, allowing players to control games and chat with others solely through lip movements. Those who stutter or are unable to speak loudly for any reason can greatly benefit.
The schematic flowchart shows the new communication protocol between two players in a game.
The patent “AUDIO PROCESSING METHOD AND SYSTEM” will also allow players to chat with others using only lip movements in multiplayer games. The mouthing would be interpreted using sensors (camera, depth, infrared, electromyography, etc.) and machine learning to capture lip, tongue, and facial movements.
The system would generate natural, context-aware speech that can match the user’s real voice or a preferred alternative. It may create urgent whispers if the gameplay is stealth-based while health is low, for example.
Sony also discusses adding a real-time translation feature that converts your speech into the language of other players.
In addition, users may find communication over voice chat difficult due to speech issues, cognitive issues, not being able to speak fluently in the language being used to communicate, or the like.
The image shows the devices of the first and second users who are communicating using the new system.
Sony says speaking while gaming can be difficult. Making a lip-sync voice system can be a useful accessibility and convenience feature. So, we can expect the publisher to bring the discussed features into its upcoming single and multiplayer titles.
Do you think the Sony patent will open up PlayStation to a whole new audience of disabled users? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

PC component prices are at their highest in years due to the recent AI boom.
Nvidia and AMD have told GPU manufacturers to hike prices due to short supply.
After RAM and SSDs, GPUs could be the next in line to become highly unaffordable.
If you thought PC gaming had become too expensive, you have another thing coming. In recent months, we saw component prices skyrocket and reach absurdly high prices based on the high memory demand due to the AI boom.
While GPU prices have already increased over the past few months, things are taking a turn for the much worse. A new report claims that AMD and Nvidia have instructed major Taiwanese manufacturers to hike GPU prices.
Why it matters: We have already seen a significant shift in the market, where Nvidia is turning its attention away from consumers and shifting its focus entirely towards AI data centers. AMD also appears to be following the same path.
AMD and Nvidia have told manufacturers to increase GPU prices
The new report states that Taiwanese graphics card manufacturers are in the midst of raising prices. MSI has already increased the prices, while Asus and Gigabyte are expected to follow suit by the end of this month.
AMD and Nvidia have informed these companies about the supply issues, and they are gearing up for the hike. However, they aren’t adjusting MSRPs, but have instead asked the companies to do whatever they think is the right price.
PC gaming is set to become extremely unaffordable
Depending on the VRAM, the prices could increase from 10-15%, which, on paper, doesn’t seem too bad. But when you account for the already high prices for GPUs like RTX 5080 or 5090, they could soon become completely out of reach.
AMD did state that it is working to keep the prices stable, but the plan seems to have fallen apart. Now, for those of you looking to upgrade, despite the already high prices, this is the right time to get a GPU; otherwise, it could be extremely expensive really soon.
