Some recent reports revealed that Nvidia is killing off its GeForce RTX 5070 Ti GPU, with RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB getting affected as well. Although the reports were denied, it appears the supply has indeed been significantly reduced.

The RTX 5070 Ti launched at an MSRP of around $750, making it an excellent proposition for upper-midrange PCs. However, it’s now selling for nearly twice as much, with premium variants costing up to $1500.

Why it matters: Reports pointed to Nvidia focusing more on the production of GPUs with 8 GB or less of VRAM, which is now shaping up to be true, as GPUs with higher VRAM are now getting huge price hikes.

The GPU is now selling for up to $1500 amid supply issues.

On Newegg, the cheapest RTX 5070 Ti in stock costs about $1250, while premium versions like the ROG could cost up to $1500, which is substantially more than the original MSRP of the RTX 5080.

While Newegg has some stock at higher prices, Amazon doesn’t have the card in stock at all, highlighting how supply has deteriorated, driving prices higher. The RTX 5080 is selling close to $2000, and the RTX 5090 is selling for over $5000.

RTX 5090 prices
RTX 5090 can now cost over $5000, depending on the variant.

Anyhow, this is a really bad time to be a PC gamer. Nvidia has hinted that it is set to rerelease some of its older GPUs with new AI features to tackle the shortage, so they could be the best bet for most people.
