Standard Edition Will Cost $40

Story Highlight
  • Pre-orders for Marathon are now live for $40.
  • The game will be launched on March 5.
  • Bungie has released a pre-order trailer that includes new gameplay and cinematics.

Bungie has revealed the pre-order trailer for Marathon, confirming that their upcoming extraction shooter will be released on March 5. This comes after a leaked pre-order trailer for the game was posted on Reddit earlier.

The user posted the trailer on the Marathon subreddit, and moderators subsequently removed it, but not before it spread everywhere online. The user explained that they saw the trailer on the Xbox store.

Why it matters: Marathon is a highly anticipated upcoming AAA title being published by PlayStation and developed by Bungie; however, it has been the subject of numerous controversies. Marathon faced overwhelming negative fan reception and allegations of stolen art, leading to the game’s delay.

Bungie’s latest blog post for Marathon reveals new details regarding the game, like its voice cast. The cast features popular names like Ben Starr and Jennifer English (both of whom were part of 2024’s Game of the Year, Expedition 33).

Bungie’s decision to create Marathon as an extraction shooter was widely regarded as a mistake, given the genre’s image as a punishing, hardcore experience. However, the massive success of Arc Raiders has proven that well-made games in the category can break into the mainstream.

Along with the standard and deluxe editions, Bungie has also revealed a beautiful collector’s edition.

Marathon Collector's Edition

Preorders for Marathon are live on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S, with the standard edition costing $40.
