The Phantom Blade Zero director, Liang Qiwei, says that a single-player game’s success helps the entire genre.
Gamers only play a single-player title for a limited time before moving on to others in the genre.
He argues that this leads to a more friendly competition between game developers in the genre, as players feel more confident.
It’s fair to say that single-player games are making a huge comeback after the golden age of the live-service era. The Phantom Blade Zero director, Liang Qiwei, says this shift is not due to competition but rather collaboration between developers and gamers in the genre.
He clarifies that there is more friendly competition in the single-player space because the success of one game drives sales and popularity of many others in the genre.
The opposite is true in the multiplayer genre, where most new titles flop because of the dominating live-service titles.
Why it matters: The success of any single-player game drives success for the entire genre because gamers are more willing to try multiple titles. This has caused the rise of many single-player titles in recent years.
PlayStation already boasts a plethora of popular single-player titles.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Liang says that no matter how popular and well-crafted a single-player title is, players will eventually move on from it to try other ones in the genre. So, there’s no reason for any fierce competition between developers.
When it comes to single-player games, I think the competition becomes much more friendly, because no matter how good your game is, the player can just play your game for, at most, one month let’s say And then they will shift to another game.
In fact, the success of a single-player title makes gamers feel more confident in the other offerings and drives more players to the genre. For example, Black Myth: Wukong has brought attention to many other single-player Chinese titles that are coming to the market.
As a result, Stellar Blade studio Shift Up even believes that gamers now prefer single-player entries over multiplayer ones.
Do you agree that single-player games rely on each other’s success to help the whole genre, or is fierce competition needed between developers instead? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

A new interview reveals that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was shaping up to be a different title in its initial script.
Instead of its French-inspired dark fantasy setting, the RPG was set in steampunk Victorian England.
It would have featured traditional aliens and zombies as enemies instead of the unique ones we got now.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was initially set in steampunk Victorian England instead of its dark-fantasy French-inspired setting. However, Sandfall Interactive’s CEO convinced Svedberg-Yen, the writer, to reboot the current script and go all-in on her wildest fantasies.
Why it matters: Without the support of the investors and Sandfall Interactive CEO, Clair Obscur would have featured a more explored steampunk England setting with a more traditional group of enemies.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 features a striking French-inspired setting.
In an interview with The Gamer, Svedberg-Yen says she started writing Clair Obscur’s script from scratch almost a year into the old one. The game would have featured your run-of-the-mill zombies and aliens as enemies instead of the fantastical variety we got now.
The gameplay would have been similar, but the story was completely different. It was set in a steampunk Victorian England with zombies, aliens, and various things.
-Svedberg-Yen, Clair Obscur Writer.
Svedberg confirms that investors played a big role in convincing her and the CEO to think big with the project and stop worrying about the funding. It led to a change of course and the Belle Époque dark-fantasy setting instead.
A five-year-old pre-alpha trailer for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 also hints at a more steampunk and sci-fi setting than the dreamy city of Lumière.
Clair Obscur has impressed both fans and developers alike.
Because of Clair Obscur’s satisfying gameplay mechanics and well-crafted script, the former PlayStation boss has also dubbed the RPG the perfect balance between the ambition of an AAA game and an AA budget.
Do you think Clair Obscur: Expedition would have been a completely different game if it took place in Victorian London? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra has been pushed back to early 2026.
Many fans already anticipated a delay due to the lack of significant marketing since 2024.
Developer Skydance Games states that this delay will help the team polish the game for the best possible experience.
Following the success of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, the company is expanding into the gaming industry. Big hits like Spider-Man 2 are just the beginning, with major titles based on IPs like Iron Man, Black Panther, and more expected to follow.
Among the many known games, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra created plenty of buzz following its announcement. However, the game has suffered a sudden delay today, with Skydance Games confirming an updated 2026 release window for the title.
Why it matters: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is expected to be a major showcase for Unreal Engine 5, and the game is also being led by Uncharted creator and industry veteran Amy Hennig.
Skydance Games Shares Update On The Marvel Project | Image via X
According to the studio’s latest X post, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will now launch in early 2026. The team has made the decision to push the title back to focus on quality and ensure fans receive the best possible experience.
Because the game had seen next to no marketing over the last few months, this delay does not come as too huge a surprise. Many already expected Skydance Games’ project to face a delay this year.
Still, this does not mean that the team won’t have new gameplay or footage to share in 2025. The next look at Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra could be right around the corner, with events like Summer Game Fest and the Xbox Games Showcase potentially giving Skydance Games a major stage to show off its work.
The Marvel Game Features Both Captain America And Black Panther
The title will also compete with the likes of GTA 6 in early 2026, so Skydance Games must do everything it can to deliver a compelling experience to the fans. Fortunately, Amy Hennig’s leadership inspires a lot of confidence in the project.

A new leak suggests Horizon 3 is in development and could be released in 2027.
Despite rumors of cancellation, Horizon Multiplayer is Guerrilla Games’ Next Title.
There is no official confirmation for any, so if true, we could see a reveal soon.
Horizon is undoubtedly one of PlayStation’s biggest original IPs. The franchise first kicked off in 2017 for the PlayStation 4. It later received a sequel, and both games were then ported to PC. There were reports of a Horizon Multiplayer game as well.
However, after Concord flopped, there were reports that the project was scrapped too, but a leaker has revealed that Horizon Multiplayer will indeed be Guerrilla Games’ next title and Horizon 3 will launch in 2027.
Why it matters: Horizon Forbidden West ended in a way that, while it did deal with the threat, it left room for a sequel, so fans have been curious as to when we can expect that to happen.
Horizon Multiplayer is still in the works, and Horizon 3 could launch in 2027
TCMGGames, a reliable leaker, has revealed that Horizon 3 is currently in development. It could potentially launch in 2027, and could be a cross-generational title for PS5 and PS6. The story could focus on Nemesis, as hinted by Horizon: Forbidden West.
Interestingly, the Horizon Multiplayer is still happening. The reports of the game have been circulating across the internet for over 3 years now, and even its alpha build images leaked online. However, it was largely believed that it had been cancelled.
Horizon Multiplayer is the studio’s next game
Unfortunately, this is all the information we have, but despite the solid track record, take this information with a grain of salt. A PlayStation Showcase is expected in the summer, and if the news is indeed true, we might see the multiplayer there.
What are your thoughts on Horizon 3 launching in 2027? Will you give the multiplayer a go? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

Capcom FY2025 report reveals the company has marked another consecutive year of profits.
This year’s success was largely driven by Monster Hunter Wilds and some older titles.
The company has predicted another 10% increase in profits for the next fiscal year.
Capcom is certainly one of the most consistent companies in the gaming industry, releasing hits one after the other. This also shows from the company’s records, as it has once again marked a very successful fiscal year in terms of profitability.
In its latest earnings report, Capcom has revealed that the company has recorded its 12th consecutive year of profits. This year also marked the highest consolidated sales and operating income in its history.
Why it matters: Monster Hunter Wilds has been a massive hit for Capcom, driving some crazy sales numbers; apart from that, Street Fighter and Resident Evil also continue to sell well.
Capcom has marked yet another year of increased profits
Capcom released its FY2025 Earnings Report, marking a huge milestone for the company. Along with this year being the 12th consecutive profitable year, it is also the 10th of year of operating profits increasing by over 10%.
Resident Evil is Capcom’s most successful franchise with 173 million units, then comes Monster Hunter at 132 million, Street Fighter at 56 million, Mega Man at 44 million, and Devil May Cry at 33 million.
Resident Evil and Monster Hunter lead the sales for Capcom
In addition, the company sold a humongous 51.87 million units in FY2025, marking a 13% increase year-on-year, with 90% of those sales being digital. For next year, it aims to sell 54 million units, and over 10% growth once again.
This shows what a huge impact Capcom has had on the industry. Even months later, Monster Hunter Wilds is still selling well, while older games keep on selling too. So, this ultimately is another immensely successful year for the Japanese giants.

Stellar Blade, the game that received a really positive reception last year, is finally making its way to the PC platform.
The game was originally released as a PS5 exclusive, but it will now be available on PC in less than a month.
The trailer was mistakenly posted on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel recently, revealing the game’s release date of 11 June.
Stellar Blade, one of the most loved games last year, was a PlayStation exclusive, which disappointed many fans. There are tons of PC gamers, and a lot of them want to get their hands on this game.
The developer shortly confirmed that the game would be released on the PC, but a release date wasn’t given. However, just recently, PlayStation accidentally leaked the game’s PC version trailer, and its release date has been confirmed. Stellar Blade for PC will launch on 11 June.
Why it matters: PC gamers are not fond of the fact that some games are exclusive to the PlayStation 5. While there is already a plethora of titles available on the PC, fans miss out on some of the latest games because of these exclusivity deals.
Stellar Blade is finally releasing on the PC platform next month
The game’s trailer was posted on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel, but before they removed it, it was too late. The fandom was too quick to download and post it on Reddit. You can watch the whole trailer by clicking on the link here.
The trailer starts by featuring Eve and then shows the difference between turning DLSS off and on (there is a huge difference in the FPS). The frame rates are also unlocked, and it also features ultrawide support.
Of course, the game supports DualSense on PC too, so you will feel haptic feedback and the trigger effects. There is also a new boss battle, and 25 new costumes have been added. The higher resolution makes the environment and textures look absolutely gorgeous.
The developers have ensured that PC fans can enjoy the game to the fullest. However, we all know the modding community is going to go crazy on this one.
What do you think about the game’s trailer? Are you excited for its release? Would you play the game as it is or download the mods? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the discussion at Tech4Gamers’ official forums.

Dataminer reveals that Rockstar plans to release a GTA 4 port and a Max Payne 3 remaster.
The GTA 4 port is expected this year, while the Max Payne 3 remaster is expected next year.
Fans now have something to look forward to after GTA 6’s delay to 2026.
Rockstar Games’ catalogue is filled with banger after banger. There is a whole list of games that fans want remastered for modern platforms, but Rockstar is yet to listen to all of their callings.
That said, they did remaster the GTA trilogy a few years ago and a Red Dead Redemption Port following soon after. Now, the publisher is planning to port GTA 4 for modern consoles and remaster Max Payne 3.
Why it matters: GTA 4 and Max Payne 3 are both regarded as some of the best titles in their respective franchises. However, they’ve gotten quite old at this point, with no support for modern platforms. A remaster/port would certainly give new fans to enjoy some of Rockstar’s pinnacle work.
Dataminer On The GTA 4 Port And Max Payne 3 Remaster
Tez2, a reliable data miner with a track record of solid inside information, now claims that GTA 4 is soon to get a port for modern consoles. This would be similar to the Red Dead Redemption port released last year.
The data miner mentioned that the unofficial remake of GTA 4 in GTA 5, dubbed “Liberty City Preservation Project,” is also due for the port’s release soon. With GTA 6’s delay, fans can finally have something to look forward to now.
While the title is currently playable on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 users are unable to do so. Like Red Dead Redemption, it is also expected to launch on the Switch consoles.
Red Dead Redemption Modern Day Port Still Costs A Whopping $60
Additionally, the insider mentioned that if Rockstar follows its plans made during the pandemic, a Max Payne 3 port in the shape of a definitive edition or a bundle alongside Max Payne 1&2 is also expected.
Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes will be released together and are planned for a 2026 release. It would only make sense for the said Max Payne 3 remaster to drop in the same year. The third entry still holds up visually to date, so just a remaster instead of a full-fledged remake would work, too.

Tati Gabrielle, the lead Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet star, recently discussed potential hate from online gamers.
She states that Neil Druckmann is already helping her deal with online hate following Naughty Dog’s experience with The Last of Us Part 2.
Neil Druckmann remains confident in the team’s work and has advised the star to focus on doing her best for the time being.
Naughty Dog revealed its latest IP a few months back, and the studio saw a few interesting reactions. In many ways, the reactions reminded the team of The Last of Us Part 2 and the backlash received due to various decisions related to that title.
Speaking about the reactions to Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, lead actress Tati Gabrielle has revealed that Naughty Dog is already prepared for further backlash. The team has also given its actors tips to deal with online backlash in the coming years.
Why it matters: The Last of Us Part 2 continues to face similar backlash to this day, with season 2 of the show being the latest example of criticism taken a bit too far online.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Was Shown Off At TGA 2024
Speaking to EW, Tati Gabrielle, the actress playing the main character in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, discussed the experience of Naughty Dog stars like Laura Bailey, the actress who played Abby in The Last of Us Part 2.
Bailey previously received death threats, and Tati Gabrielle has seen similar reactions since the announcement of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. During the interview, she revealed that Neil Druckmann himself is coaching her on how to deal with these reactions.
Neil’s been bootcamping me. I know Troy’s experience, I know Ashley’s experience.
As per the actress, Neil Druckmann advised her to mostly ignore the criticism online and focus on doing her best as part of the Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet team.
Naughty Dog Is Fully Focused On Its Next Project At The Moment
Neil Druckmann appears quite confident in his work, so it will be interesting to see how conversations around the studio’s latest IP evolve over time. Perhaps the team will shock harsh critics with its typical gameplay quality and polish a few years from now.
What are your thoughts on Tati Gabrielle’s statement? Do you think fans can be a bit too harsh to actors and game developers at times? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Sony has published a new patent on using controllers to detect the chemicals in players’ sweat to gauge stress levels.
It wants to use the new biometric system to judge whether a player lacks cortisol or anything else that indicates low stress levels.
If high fatigue is detected, the game difficulty might be lowered, hit boxes might become more forgiving, and the like.
In recent years, Sony has been on a spree to publish patents that intend to make gaming more convenient and accessible for players. Now, we’ve stumbled upon a new patent that wants to ensure that no players end up too stressed during gameplay in real time.
The patent discusses detecting the chemicals in players’ sweat using controllers to monitor stress levels while gaming. Sony wants to achieve this using spectroscopy, a way to find chemicals based on how light scatters when it hits the sweat.
So, if the glucose or cortisol levels in the sweat are low, the system can conclude that a player has become fatigued because of the game. Sony may adjust gameplay by lowering its difficulty or suggesting a break to help the player feel better.
low levels of glucose in the user’s sweat can indicate a low blood sugar level, which can leave the user feeling tired and shaky. Again the game can give the user a deliberate rest by altering in-game event timings, and/or alter difficulty levels, error tolerances, and the like.
Why it matters: The patent suggests Sony wants to control gamers’ stress levels during gameplay actively. Lowering difficulty might help players control frustration and improve their mood if it detects higher stress.
The image shows a schematic diagram of a user input device according to embodiments of the patent.
The patent “Biometric system and method” describes adjusting games for stressed players by easing timed events, enlarging enemy hitboxes, matching with weaker opponents, and more to reduce frustration.
Sony says monitoring stress usually needs a separate device, which isn’t convenient. So, it wants to add this feature to the PlayStation controller to help players enjoy games without stress.
muscle fatigue may have a correlation with response times or posture, and so the system may prompt greater error tolerance for rhythm/dance games, or increase the size of hit boxes in a fighting game.
The image shows a flow diagram of a biometric method using chemicals in the players’ sweat.
This same technology can also be added to VR headsets so that gameplay can be dynamically adapted to the fatigue levels of a player across various PlayStation platforms.
Do you think it is right for Sony to detect players’ stress levels and modify the game’s difficulty and other elements based on it? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Nvidia has faced a $5.5 billion loss in its last quarterly earnings.
With an export ban on AI chips and increasing manufacturing costs, the company has raised GPU prices by 10-15%.
The RTX 5090 GPU now starts from $2500.
Over the past few months, US policy changes have damaged manufacturing companies, as they’re subjected to high tariffs and export bans. Microsoft recently raised the prices for the Xbox Series X|S consoles, making them well out of the reach of average consumers.
Now, it seems that Nvidia has followed suit. To combat revenue decline, the company has implemented a 10-15% price hike across all of its GPUs.
Why it matters: Nvidia GPUs were already quite expensive, and limited availability was limited. Even months after the Blackwell GPU lineup’s release, they are still quite difficult to obtain, and this price hike will only worsen things.
Consumers already criticised Nvidia’s RTX 50-Series lineup for its high prices that didn’t justify the performance.
As reported by Digitimes, Nvidia is facing multiple crises, with a recent loss of $5.5 billion in its past quarterly earnings. The company’s revenue drivers were mostly its AI chips, which now face an export ban in China due to the recent US policy and trade wars.
As such, the H20 chips are selling less than usual. CEO Huang Renxun has been travelling between the US and China and even had talks with US President Donald Trump to lift the export ban.
The company has also shifted its GPU production to the US, where moving and manufacturing costs have significantly increased compared to Taiwan.
Amidst this sales loss and high manufacturing costs, Nvidia is doing its best not to suffer any more damage and has raised its GPU prices by 10-15% in collateral. The ASUS RTX 5090 has seen a price hike of 10%, while the other Blackwell GPU will see a 5-10% price hike. The AI GPUs, such as H200 and B200, are up by almost 15%.
RTX 5090 GPUs now cost between $2500 and $3200.
As such, the RTX 5090 GPUs now start from a whopping $2500. Furthermore, their availability is questionable, and this price hike can only further guarantee more scalping.
Still, the AI GPU demand is strong even with China out of the equation, and Nvidia is expected to bounce back “within financial forecasts and deliver excellent profit results” at the end of this month.

Real World Test Results
3DMark Storage Gaming Benchmark
1 of 3
Orico demonstrates excellent performance in this benchmark, outperforming Corsair MP600 Elite by a small margin; 3DMark Storage Gaming uses traces from real games, so if you’re a gamer, this benchmark can influence your decision in purchasing your next storage solution.
PCMark 10 Storage 'Quick' Benchmark
1 of 3
The quick benchmark from PCMark10 is not intensive and cannot measure the full potential of the storage; this benchmark focuses on light real-world traces, mostly suitable for the small storage solution. However, Orico IG740 Pro is slower than WDSN770 and Corsair MP600 Elite but demonstrates almost double in performance compared with Samsung 970 EVO Gen3 Storage.
PCMark 10 Storage 'Full System Drive' Benchmark
1 of 3
Orico IG740 nails in full system drive benchmark. It’s a longer test and more intensive on the storage solutions; here, it’s outperforming Corsair MP600 Elite by a good margin. However, WDSN770 is breaking no sweat despite having lower sequential speeds; Orico provides an amazing performance for the value here.
Synthetic Test Results
Crystal Disc Mark
1 of 4
For the synthetic tests, we run Crystal Disc Mark to evaluate sequential read and write speeds and Random 4Kib performance. Orico provides a strong read performance of 7,400MB/s and almost 6,400MB/s in write. The write performance is a little slower than Corsair MP600 Elite. In RND, 4K results are slightly faster overall in sequential speeds; this NVMe demonstrates powerful performance.
Gaming Loading Time
Gaming Opening & Loading Times
1 of 2
Orico demonstrates amazing loading times in Red Dead Redemption II and is identical to other NVMe Storage Solutions in Cyberpunk 2077.
Temperatures
ORICO IG740 Pro 2TB Temperatures
We’re stress-testing our storage solution on the PCMark10 Drive Performance Consistency Test; this test consistently writes a large amount of data on the drive. We’ve run this benchmark for almost 10 minutes. However, three sensors report that the first two are the NAND-flash chips; these are probably hotspot temperatures.
However, we are hitting 85c on peak and 78c on average at the room temperature of 24.6c, higher than the Corsair MP600 Elite Gen4x4 NVMe we reviewed earlier. We are using our motherboard heatsink on the top of the storage solution. This SSD is incredibly fast and also produces so much heat at the same time, however, the temperatures are still in the safe range.
Should You Buy It?
Buy It If
✅ You are upgrading from the older storage: ORICO IG740 Pro 2TB delivers an excellent upgrade over PCIe Gen3x4 SSDs. Sequential Speeds Peaking up to 7400MB/s and 6400MB/s is a massive jump from the traditional 3000MB/s Gen3 SSDs.
✅ You want quicker loading times in games: Corsair MP600 Elite 2TB delivers incredible game loading times, beating Corsair MP600 Elite 2TB Gen4 in Red Dead Redemption II by 10 seconds.
Don’t Buy It If
❌ You want the storage with DRAM Cache: Without the DRAM Cache, SSDs rely on the Nand Flash or HMB (Host Memory Buffer), leading to reduced write performance/operations.
❌ Your motherboard does not support PCIe Gen4x4 NVMe: ORICO IG740 Pro 2TB is the Gen4x4 Fast NVMe Storage Device. Though it can run on PCIe Gen3x4, it can do so at much lower speeds.
Final Thoughts
Orico IG740 ticks all the boxes and demonstrates excellent overall performance in synthetics, gaming, and application workloads. The 2 TB version costs USD 134.99, which is $15 cheaper than the Corsair MP600 Elite 2TB. Interestingly, Orico has added a Heatspreader, Thermal Pad, and Screwdriver inside the box, which makes this SSD a better value than Corsair’s. However, the SSD runs a little bit hot, but nothing serious.

Their total sales account for $211.9 million.
Atlus’ success is highlighted by the impressive sales of Persona 3 Reloaded and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Since the Japanese company stopped manufacturing consoles, SEGA has been quite successful in publishing. With major IPs like Sonic the Hedgehog, Like a Dragon, and more under its belt, SEGA is one of the most notable publishers of the 21st century.
2024 was one of the best years for SEGA as a publisher, and their restructuring is finally paying off. SEGA recently published its financial report for 2024, revealing that Atlus Games drove the most revenue by having the most sales.
Why it matters: Even with heavyweight IPs like Sonic, Like a Dragon, and Football Manager under SEGA’s belt, Atlus stands out as the top performer, proving its titles can compete with the best franchises in the industry.
Atlus games account for 28.2% of SEGA’s total game sales, while Sonic titles trail behind at 27.8%. Rovio games follow in third with 23.5%, while Like a Dragon ranks fourth at 9.8%, Total War at 7.5%, and Football Manager at 3.2%.
Atlus Games’ 28.2% sales equate to a whopping $211.9 million. Their 2024 releases did well. Persona 3 Reloaded sold 1 million copies within a week of its launch. Overall, the franchise has sold 3.4 million copies since April 2024.
Moreover, Metaphor: ReFantazi, SEGA’s latest release, also performed well. The title sold 1 million copies on its release date, becoming the fastest-selling Atlus game ever. The title also secured multiple awards at the TGA 2024 and BAFTA Games Awards 2025.
Moreover, Persona 5 Royal continues to sell well despite being released in 2019.
Atlus Games plans to release RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army on 19th June. Persona fans can most likely expect an update on Persona 6. Persona 1 and 2 remakes are also reportedly under development, but their release remains to be seen.
