Driveclub Producer Wants To Remaster The Game For PS5

Story Highlight
  • Fans recently appreciated Driveclub for how well the game has aged.
  • A former producer also complemented the game and noted that he would return for a remaster project.
  • The game still runs at 30FPS on PS5, so a remaster would be a great idea.

PlayStation has long been part of the racing games genre, experimenting with various franchises such as Motorstorm and Gran Turismo.

During the first year of the PS4’s lifespan, PlayStation also launched Driveclub. The game was dubbed a social racing experience that captures the feeling of blazing-fast speeds in all types of supercars. Although it failed to make a huge impact, the original developers and fans continue to look back on the game fondly.

Why it matters: Racing fans are starved for variety at the moment, with a few core franchises making up the bulk of modern racing games. The likes of Burnout, Driveclub, and more are greatly missed in this era.

Like the developers, fans also believe Driveclub is a forgotten gem. In particular, the game’s visuals continue to stand out for their breathtaking art style, which depicted photorealism despite the technical limitations of the last generation.

On Twitter, a user noted that Driveclub still looks on par with modern AAA titles all these years later, and soon, a producer joined the conversation. According to Roger Godfrey, the game remains a career highlight for him.

He also expressed a desire to work on a PS5 remaster of the game. This is important since Driveclub, despite its many positives, still runs at a low resolution and 30FPS on the PS5.

Evolution Studio, the team behind both Driveclub and Motostorm, was shut down after the game failed to meet PlayStation’s expectations. However, Roger Godfrey is willing to collaborate with many of the original developers on a remaster project.

Driveclub
Driveclub Still Looks Stunning

PlayStation has also recently developed a reputation for being too focused on remasters. Unfortunately, Driveclub is unlikely to receive the same treatment since the gaming giant favors big IPs like Spider-Man and God of War when considering remasters.

Still, fan projects like the ShadPS4 emulator could breathe new life into these lesser-recognised games on PC.

Do you think a Driveclub remaster should happen? Would you revisit the game if it offered 60FPS and improved visuals on PS5? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 Teaser Trailer Reveals Darker Story and New Cast

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 gets a brand-new teaser, introducing fresh characters and confirming David’s arc is over.
  • Cybernetic enhancements and violent action seem to be a big part of the new storyline.
  • Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor described the new season as more emotional, brutal, and focused on revenge and redemption.

Netflix and CD Projekt Red have confirmed Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2, a new standalone series set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, announced at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles.

The first teaser takes viewers back into Night City’s dark, neon-filled streets. It combines clips from Season 1 with new concept art featuring an entirely new cast. The flashbacks end with a chilling line: “David’s Dead.”

Why it matters: The teaser makes it clear the new season won’t follow David Martinez’s story, but will head in a new direction within the same world.

The teaser shows gritty scenes of Night City and brief, mysterious shots of the new main character. We don’t have the names or backstory yet, but the visuals hint at another intense story.

There’s a strong focus on cyber upgrades, and the sense that the danger is just as real, if not more so, this time around.

It also makes one thing clear: David’s story is finished. That one line changes the mood, reminding us that Night City doesn’t let everyone make it out. The mix of old scenes and new ones creates a sense that the show will still honor its past while pushing into new territory.

Just like the first season, this one will have 10 episodes, but it tells a brand-new story that doesn’t follow David’s journey. It’s directed by Kai Ikarashi, who previously worked on Season 1’s episode 6 (“Girl on Fire”). This will be his first time leading an entire season.

Showrunner Sztybor said the new season will be “sadder, darker, more bloody, and more raw” than the first. He hinted it’s a story about redemption and revenge in a flashy, dangerous world, where standing out could cost you everything.

Edgerunners 2 Teaser
The wait for the next chapter in Night City has officially begun.

There’s no release date yet for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, but it has been confirmed to be coming to Netflix. Even though David’s story is over, CD Projekt Red and Netflix are reviving the series, bringing back the same team that made the first season a success. CDPR is also reportedly working on a live-action adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077.

With a darker vibe and new faces, this sequel looks ready to take the world of Edgerunners even further. For now, fans are stuck replaying the teaser and guessing just how wild Night City will get this time.

Stop Killing Games Petition Crossed 1M Signatures, EU Has Taken Notice of It

Story Highlight
  • The Stop Killing Games ECI petition recently surpassed 1 million signatures.
  • Due to such a massive number of people supporting this cause, the EU had to acknowledge it.
  • Now, the EU will conduct its due diligence and involve member states to further support the cause.

Fans absolutely hate it when a game they’ve paid for goes offline. This is a clear-cut crime and shouldn’t be allowed in the gaming industry, because if a person is paying for something, it should remain with them forever.

However, these giant corporations don’t care about the fandom and are primarily interested in making a profit. Ubisoft is a prime example of this, as it shut down The Crew’s online servers, which, by the way, was an online-only game. This sparked a massive controversy and a lawsuit, leading gamers to launch the “Stop Killing Games” initiative

It has now surpassed 1 million signatures, and the EU has taken notice.

Why it matters: The EU’s acknowledgement of the matter and its support for this initiative are significant steps in preserving video games

EU Supporting Stop Killing Game Initiative
The EU is Supporting the Stop Killing Game Initiative Led By The Gamers

Recently, the European Citizens’ Initiative managed to surpass 1 million signatures, making it too large for the EU to ignore. There was a concern going on regarding fake signatures, as many users signed the petition twice, which is why the number surpassed 1 million so quickly

EU IT will do some prechecks for bogus fake signatures before sending to member states to confirm. There is a filtration process in place before it goes to Member states for verification, so that will help already!

However, EU IT stated that this will not invalidate the signatures, but instead count them as one, which is fair. There were some prechecks to be done for the fake signatures before sending the petition to the member states.

Ubisoft The Crew Shutdown
The Shutdown of the Crew is One of The Main Reasons for This Initiative

That said, the news regarding the fake signatures has yet to be confirmed, so fans shouldn’t worry until the EU concludes its investigation. Additionally, there is no cause for concern, as EU IT has confirmed to the ECI that only 20% of the 1 million votes are required, as no initiative has been disqualified based on signatures to date.

What do you think about the EU’s IT support for this initiative by European citizens to save games? Do you support this? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion.

Xbox’s Game Pass Focus One of Leading Causes Behind Layoffs, Implies Ex-Arkane Studios Founder

Story Highlight
  • The former Arkane Studios founder implies that Xbox’s focus on Game Pass was a primary reason behind the recent huge layoffs.
  • He argues that the subscription model is predatory and cannot be sustained without damaging other models in the industry.
  • Michael Douse, publishing director of Larian Studios, also agreed with the take but claims Game Pass does help out smaller projects.

Just a few days ago, Microsoft suffered massive layoffs that affected 9000 employees. These job cuts have also left the Xbox brand shaken, with a slew of developers laid off across multiple studios amid project cancellations.

Former Arkane founder Raphael Colantonio claims Xbox’s focus on Game Pass contributed to the layoffs. He believes this subscription service cannot coexist with other models in the gaming industry.

Why it matters: Many notable figures in the gaming scene argue that Microsoft’s focus on the Game Pass model may have contributed to the recent layoff spree, which also affected Xbox.

The former Arkane Studios founder claims Game Pass is to be blamed for the latest Xbox layoffs.
The former founder of Arkane Studios claims that Game Pass is to blame for the latest Xbox layoffs.

Raphael clarifies on Twitter that Game Pass is predatory and unsustainable, as it hurts game sales, even if executives initially deny those claims. Many Xbox gamers also appear to share this sentiment, as a significant number of Xbox users boycotted Game Pass following the layoffs.

I think Gamepass is an unsustainable model that has been increasingly damaging the industry for a decade, subsidized by MS’s ‘infinite money,’ but at some point reality has to hit.

Michael Douse, Larian’s publishing director, agreed and said he prefers Sony’s lifecycle strategy over Game Pass. However, he believes that Game Pass is a safe haven for smaller studios with new or riskier IPs.

Xbox Game Pass
Many fans have also defended Game Pass in the past for the value it offers.

Raphael also asserts that only gamers like Game Pass because its value feels too good to be true until they discover the negative effects it is having on the market. He believes GP can only exist alongside other models if it’s for the ‘back catalog.’

Do you think Microsoft made the drastic decision to lay off thousands of employees due to Xbox Game Pass, in addition to its AI initiatives? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Emulation On A Steam Deck Is Better Than You’d Expect

Story Highlights
  • Emulation on the Steam Deck is excellent, especially for the retro games, where you get a taller screen size and no pixel distortion.
  • You also get 10-12 hours of battery life with the retro games, and they look extremely crisp with the OLED panel.
  • You can even run PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360 games, but the 3D games aren’t the smoothest, so you should stick to the less demanding titles.

The Steam Deck is one of the most popular handheld devices to date, having sold nearly 4 million units. While its standard game usage primarily consists of games from the Steam library, one aspect of it is often overlooked: its exceptional emulation capabilities.

Steam Deck As An Emulator (Image Credits – Laptop Mag)

Emulation Is The Way To Go

You might wonder why someone would buy a Steam Deck solely to use it as an emulator for older games. While your concern is valid, the issue is that the Steam Deck is no longer capable of running modern AAA titles.

This would be unfortunate news for you because it used to run games pretty smoothly, but as the games advanced in technology, this poor device lost its ability to keep up with the high demand of the games.

Most people clung to remote play on the Steam Deck, which is phenomenal. However, emulation is something that many people still miss out on. To run the emulator, the best approach is to use Emudeck.

EmuDeck
Emulation Via EmuDeck (Image Credits – YT/ETA Prime)

Best For Retro Games

Then, you can use a different tool, such as the Emulation Station, to access all the various emulator games in an organized and aesthetic way. This allows you to have Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, Wii, PSP, SEGA, and all the different platforms you have stored as a library.

Classic Games

Now you must be wondering if you’re going to play the older games, which tend to have lower graphics and some even have visible pixels, wouldn’t there be pixel distortion? Well, it can be countered easily through a settings tweak.

Best Settings For These Games

EmuDeck has its own settings where you can set the video filter as ‘Normal 4x’ after enabling ‘Bilinear Filtering’. What it does is blow out the screen to four times its normal size and then shrink the screen back down while applying bilinear filtering.

EmuDeck Settings
EmuDeck Settings (Image Credits – YT/ETA Prime)

This way, it rebalances the pixels, allowing for a clear and crisp picture in retro games and other games as well. While you can use shaders and filters to counter that as well, this also does the job pretty well. You can later change the filter speed from 4x to any value depending on which emulation platform you’re using.

Taller Screen Size Than Retro Systems

Another great benefit of emulation on a Steam Deck is that it provides more screen space for retro games. Typically, the retro game systems play at a 4:3 aspect ratio, but on the Steam Deck, you get a 16:10 aspect ratio, which is a lot taller without the screen being stretched.

Yes, you do get the black bars on each side of the screen, but it is forgivable because the newer Steam Deck has thinner bezels compared to the older one. Moreover, because the panel is OLED, the blacks are deep and the colors are vivid, so you automatically focus on the area where the game is being played.

Taller Aspect Ratio On Games On Steam Deck

Other Games (PSP, PS2, PS3, etc)

For PSP, every game is going to play at full speed at 3x resolution. I’m referring to a smooth 60 FPS experience throughout the entire game. The black bars are thinner on the PSP as the game covers the screen for the most part.

PSP = No Problem

Now, these games won’t be quite as sharp as in ROG Ally, which has a 1080p display panel and can play at 4x, but they’ll still look great on the Steam Deck due to the OLED panel.

Best For 3DS

For 3DS games, you also get the Emulation On A Steam Deck Is Better Than You’d Expect, which lets you navigate through the menu with your thumb. Not only that, but you can also interact with the screen on these games, as the 3DS was also touchscreen and had features that required touch inputs at times.

PS2 And Onwards Have Some Limitations

These were the older games, but you can also emulate the PS2 on the Steam Deckproviding a smooth overall experience. You can run it at a 2.5x upscale over 800p, so it is gonna fill out the screen as well.

Even in the heavy-duty games like the God of War 2, there are a few frame drops, but you can drop the resolution a bit to get great FPS. Not only that, but Xbox 360 and PS3 are also playable if the game isn’t as demanding. For 3D games like Infamous, you won’t get over 20 FPS consistently.

Steam Deck PS3 Emulation

Battery Life

You’ll get around 10-12 hours of battery life with the retro games (NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy Advance). For the GameCube, you can play for up to 6 to 8 hours, and the same applies to the Wii, although it draws less power.

The original Xbox and Wii U are expected to provide 3 to 4 hours of battery life, but playing a demanding game like The Legend of Zelda may reduce this to 2.5 to 3 hours.

Is Emulation For You On The Steam Deck?

If you tend to be on the lighter side of games, where the games don’t consume a lot of power, emulation would be great for you. But if you prefer to play open-world games, like on the PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360, this might not be for you, since that is the limit of the Steam Deck.

Why Razer Optical Switches Are Still One Of The Best For Gaming

Story Highlights
  • Razer’s optical switches had low actuation force, actuation points and travel distance with no debounce delay.
  • This made them extremely great for games, where they specifically made strafing and counter-strafing extremely easy.
  • Even today, they’re very good for games when you compare them with other mechanical keyboards.

Many mechanical switches have entered the market, so many that you can’t even count. With so many colours and different responsiveness, Razer’s optical switches have still made their mark to this day. What makes them so special that they have stood the test of time? Let’s find out.

These Were Ahead Of Their Time

Long before magnetic switches were a thing, Razer came up with ultra-fast technology that was ahead of its time. Razer’s genius lies in how it designed the switch intended for fast response times.

Light-based Switches

Razer’s optical linear switches are light-based, unlike most traditional mechanical switches that rely on metallic contact points. The premise is that once you press the key, the light beam is intersected to produce a signal. This is made to speed up response time.

No Debounce Delay

It also completely eliminates debounce delay, which occurs when a mechanical switch makes the first contact at the actuation point. There’s a bouncing effect that sends multiple smaller signals before a signal is sent.

Variations For Different Preferences

Razer offers two variations of this kind of switch: clicky or linear. Clicky switches are more expensive because they are Razer’s premium custom-made switches. Even the linear ones come in two variations: V1 and V2.

One Of The Best Clicky Switches

First, they have their clicky switch, which is purple. This switch has an actuation point and travel distances of 1.5mm and 3.5mm, respectively. Since it already has an actuation force of 1.5mm, they didn’t need to develop another variant.

With these specifications, it is one of the only clicky switches you can comfortably game on because the actuation point is high and the switch is lighter. So, you can perform quick strafing without resetting the clicky point, which is sometimes an issue on other clicky switches.

Linear Switches

Now, let’s take a look at their Linear V1 switches, which were red. These have the lowest actuation point of 1mm, an actuation force of only 40g, and a total travel distance of 3.5mm.

V1 = Best For Gamers

This means that you could barely touch the key, and it would still register; its actuation point and force are low. This made it highly efficient for gaming, especially regarding strafing.

In contrast, keyboards with other switches required you to press hard to strafe and counter-strafe, and most times, the counter-strafing resulted in a mismatch, which led to missed shots.

This was a big deal for gamers, especially the pro players who wanted the snappiest response from their keyboards. No wonder it was for Huntsman TKL, which was named Tournament Edition.

Way Too Responsive, Nerf Needed

However, the response was so quick that you had to train yourself not to accidentally touch the keys. Seeing how many people faced this problem, Razer decided to fix this issue with their Linear V2 switches.

V2 Switches: Best Of Both Worlds

These switches had the same travel distance and actuation point as the V1, but the actuation force was increased to 45g instead. Now, applying a little force would actuate the keys, which were loved by the community.

Pre-Lubed & Smooth

Razer also decided to pre-lube the switches and apply silicone dampers on their keyboards because the V1 was held by a metallic structure and felt scratchy upon pressing. Now, the keys were not only smoother but also sounded good.

Adjustable Actuation Point

Not only that, but the V2 also comes with customizable software that allows you to adjust the actuation point on the newer models. This doesn’t limit you to one actuation point; you can adjust according to your preference or game.

Not only that, but the newer models also support Snap Tap, where the last pressed key will be registered. This means that you won’t have to practise getting the timings right for counter-strafing as it will automatically be done for you.

Snap Tap Technology

Highly Durable

Apart from that, all of these switches are extremely durable because there is no mechanical wear point, and they have a lifetime of 100 million clicks, which is one of the reasons why they still hold up great to this day (even for those who have the V1 keyboards).

Verdict

While these are great for gamers, they might not be ideal for typist because of their low actuation point and travel distance. Also, the next best thing to it is the Hall Effect keyboards. However, it’s still better to get this instead of a cheaper Hall Effect keyboard if you’re on a budget.

Batman Arkham Asylum Deserves More Love

Story Highlights
  • Batman Arkham Asylum needs to be loved more for several reasons, one of them being its unique vibe.
  • Another reason is the exclusive level designs for each boss fight, which significantly enhance the game’s replayability.
  • The story is simple yet worth exploring as it’s written with significant consideration.

When it comes to superhero games, Batman has always been a topic of discussion due to the nature of the character. The world of Batman features a gothic environment, sinister villains, side characters, and a well-written character in Batman himself.

For these reasons, Batman games have always had massive potential for success, and this was proven right when Rocksteady started developing the Batman Arkham games.

With the first game coming out in 2009 and turning out to be a huge success, Rocksteady made sure to utilize the full potential of Batman and keep delivering banger after banger with each sequel to the franchise.

The Unique Vibe Of Arkham Asylum

Each of the four main Arkham games is loved and revisited by players to this day, but if I had to choose one game out of these four that is deserving of more love than it gets, then I would choose Batman: Arkham Asylum.

It’s the first game and the building block of this franchise. This means it’s the oldest of the four and is also very short, but in no way is it any less in quality.

One of the most uplifting aspects of this game is its green-gothic environment, which perfectly blends the colors of both Joker and Batman. A similar vibe is present in all the Arkham games, but there’s something different about the vibe of Arkham Asylum.

Arkham Asylum has fantastic atmosphere from start to finish, almost horror at times.
byu/Vlakabaka inBatmanArkham

The lightning also gave the environment a spooky look, which helped it stand out. The map is short, and there isn’t much to explore and roam around, but it all makes sense since it’s based on an asylum. This map setting complements the green-gothic vibe I mentioned above.

The Vibe Of Arkham Asylum
The Vibe Of Arkham Asylum (Image By Tech4Gamers)

Despite having a short map, the game still features some interesting locations that players can revisit for the sake of the atmosphere; however, there won’t be much to do at those locations except collect Riddler’s trophies.

Level Designs That Boost The Replayability

The level design is also something that I found to be well-made. Each of the main villains has an exclusive touch to them. And it’s not dodge and attack, but it’s something different every time.

Like when you fight Killer Croc in the sewers, you have to be ready for him as he can come at you from below at any time and from any direction. Or the Scarecrow level, where you are in a nightmare and have to stay hidden from his sight by hiding behind objects.

Killer Croc Encounter
Killer Croc Encounter (Image By Tech4Gamers)

These levels test your patience and tactics, as they differ significantly from the standard gameplay throughout the entire game.

This is something that gives the game a sense of exclusivity as well, in the sense that these particular boss fights are only available in Arkham Asylum.

Therefore, no matter how good the other three games get, if one has to feel the thrill of fighting the killer croc in sewers while avoiding his sudden attacks or use timely tactics to get out of Scarecrow’s nightmares, they will have to boot Arkham Asylum.

How to get past Killer Croc?
byu/GucciGoblins22 inBatmanArkham

The exceptional level designs are also somewhat present in Arkham City, like the one where we have to face Mr. Freeze in his lab. But the quantity of these memorable boss fights is less than what we get in Arkham Asylum.

In short, each villain had a unique boss fight, which can be the sole reason for many players to revisit the game over time.

Well-Written Story

The story of the game is also written decently. I would go as far as to claim that the story direction was better than that of Arkham City’s.

The opening sequence was unique, as Batman catches Joker and brings him into Arkham Asylum, but Joker escapes and hides somewhere within the asylum during the opening scene.

Opening Sequence Of Arkham Asylum
Opening Sequence Of Arkham Asylum (Image By Tech4Gamers)

The story then revolves around Batman taking down Joker and his plot to gain power over the Arkham Asylum and destroy Gotham, where he encounters several other villains in his mission.

The story is pretty simple, but the special encounters with the likes of Bane, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Riddler, Scarecrow, Harley Quinn, and, of course, Joker are what keep things interesting.

Moreover, each villain is given a meaningful amount of screen time, neither too much nor too little, and a meaningful purpose in the story.

Canceled Arkham Knight Sequel Footage Featuring Damian Wayne Leaked Online

Story Highlight
  • An Arkham Knight sequel was once under development at Rocksteady, featuring Damian Wayne as the new Batman, which was unfortunately canceled.
  • New footage from the game’s pre-alpha model has recently emerged online.
  • Recent reports have suggested that Rocksteady is reviving the project in the form of a new trilogy exclusive to PlayStation.

The Arkham trilogy wasn’t supposed to be the last of the Batman universe, as Damian Wayne was set to succeed Bruce Wayne as the Caped Crusader. Unfortunately, plans for the newer Dark Knight were canceled.

Over time, details for the Arkham Knight sequel have emerged online, including facial models and other information. Now, the entire footage for a gameplay sequence has surfaced online from what appears to be an early developer build of the game.

Why it matters: Typically, this level of detail about canceled games doesn’t emerge from within the studio.

The footage was featured in a new video by The Atomsmith. The short clip showcases Damian Wayne’s Batman jumping over Killer Croc riding a motorcycle. However, since this is an early development build, Killer Croc appears to be a placeholder model for another character.

Damian Wayne’s Batman also appears to be using a placeholder model of Batman from Arkham Knight. Either way, it’s hard to tell what it could mean, considering it was pre-Alpha footage.

The game was under development at WB Games Montreal, the same studio responsible for 2023’s Gotham Knights.

Batman James Gunn DCU
James Gunn Recently Entered A Discussion For A New Batman Game

That said, the Arkham series isn’t completely dead, and fans can expect new games from Rocksteady moving forward. Reports have suggested that an Arkham Asylum remake is currently under development.

Beyond that, the Arkham Knight sequel is also being revived. Damian Wayne will receive his trilogy, which is reportedly based on the Batman Beyond storyline. However, those games are reportedly exclusive to PlayStation. Moreover, Job listings have suggested the game is being built on Unreal Engine 5.

Ubisoft Wants Gamers To Destroy All Copies of A Game Once It Goes Offline

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has updated its EULA to avoid potential legal issues by discontinuing support for its games.
  • The EULA now states that the company reserves the right to stop supporting a game at any time for any reason.
  • This has attracted considerable criticism from fans, which further fuels the growing dislike for Ubisoft.

Over the past few years, Ubisoft, a company once known for its great games, has received nothing but criticism from its fans. The company has hit rock bottom, but the thing is, there is no rock bottom, and it continues to fall deep into the abyss until it becomes bankrupt.

The company’s value over the past five years has decreased significantly, prompting it to enter into a deal with Tencent, a massive publisher that is collectively disliked by gamers. Despite such controversy, Ubisoft has done something to anger the fans again. The company has updated its EULA, which now states that those who own the product must destroy all the copies at all costs

Why it matters: The company has fallen so low that it wants to avoid any legal consequences by terminating users’ access to products, which it aims to do sooner for many legacy titles

Ubisoft EULA Termination
Ubisoft EULA Termination Policy Is Way Brutal

You and UBISOFT (or its licensors) may terminate this EULA, at any time, for any reason. This EULA will terminate automatically if You fail to comply with any of the terms and conditions of this EULA. Upon termination for any reason, You must immediately uninstall the Product and destroy all copies of the Product in Your possession.

-Ubisoft Eula

Please note that the EULA also states that Ubisoft or the licensors of the product can terminate it at any time for any reason, which seems unreasonable given the company’s current financial situation, potentially leading to future support issues for some games.

Assassin's Creed Shadows PC

UBISOFT may modify the Product for any reason or without any specific reason, at any time and at its entire discretion, in particular for technical reasons such as updates.

Additionally, you are responsible for periodically checking the EULA for changes, as it is now the consumer’s responsibility to detect any unreasonable changes made by the company without notice. If for any reason you don’t want to comply with the EULA, you would of course have to destroy all of the copies of the product you own.

Nintendo Switch 2 Owners Satisfied With Their Purchase One Month Later, Reveals Poll

Story Highlight
  • The Nintendo Switch 2 launched last month and has set several records.
  • A poll reveals that nearly 70% of owners like the console and its offerings.
  • Some owners need more time to determine how they feel, while others are waiting for exclusives like Donkey Kong Bananza before coming to a conclusion.

The Nintendo Switch 2 officially launched last month as the successor to Nintendo’s most successful console. Although this launch was shrouded in controversy, the gaming giant soon broke all industry records.

More controversies have continued to show up since then, but a poll reveals that owners of the console are quite happy with their purchase.

Why it matters: Nintendo previously dropped the ball after following up on the highly successful Wii. It seems the gaming giant has not repeated the same mistake with its latest successor.

Nintendo Switch 2
Fans Have Been Waiting For This Console For Eight Years

Over on Resetera, a recent poll inquired how Nintendo Switch 2 owners feel about the console.

Among the 600 voters, nearly 50% rated the console four stars out of five, highlighting that most people are quite pleased. 13% of the voters also picked the five-star option, so nearly 70% of the respondents like what Nintendo has to offer.

Forum users commented that the Nintendo Switch 2 is exactly what they expected it to be. The console offers a similar experience as its predecessor, albeit with more souped-up hardware for 60FPS gaming and more extensive third-party support.

Many also appreciated the actual build quality of the console, dubbing it a substantial upgrade over the original Nintendo Switch. Elsewhere, fans showed excitement for the upcoming launch of Donkey Kong Bananza.

Those who were more critical of the Nintendo Switch 2 pointed to the rough UI and the less-than-stellar screen. Others said that it was too early to tell how they felt about the console.

Nonetheless, it seems most people are satisfied with their purchase. Since the console is so new, it will be interesting to see how opinions evolve and change over time. Whether the console lives up to its predecessor remains to be seen, but the launch has certainly shown a lot of promise.

Were you among the day one buyers of the Nintendo Switch 2? What do you think about the console? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

PS6 Reportedly Set For Launch In Late 2029

Story Highlight
  • An insider reports the PS6 will launch as late as 2029.
  • Dev kits for the PS6 are expected to begin rolling out at some point next year.
  • Sony will continue to support the PS5 for 9 years, making it the longest-supported console from the company.

The PS5, which made its original debut in late 2020, turns five later this year. As the anniversary approaches, PlayStation has already begun discussing plans for the PS6, a console based on AMD’s UDNA architecture.

Previously, lead architect Mark Cerny outlined a multi-year timeline for the PS6, and an insider has now shed more light on the situation. According to his report, the console is scheduled to launch four years from now.

Why it matters: Fans are split on the leak. While some believe the PS5 would overstay its welcome if this timeline holds true, others feel new hardware is not needed for a few more years.

PS5 DualSense Wireless Controller
The PS5 Generation Began In 2020

According to DetectiveSeeds, Sony will first showcase the PS6 in 2028. This will be followed by the official launch one year later, marking the end of the PS5 generation.

If this leak holds true, the PS5 generation will have been ongoing for around 9 years by the time Sony releases the PS6. This would make the PS5 Sony’s longest supported console, barring the cross-gen support of the PS4.

The insider further reports that developers should have access to PS6 dev kits by next year. This should coincide with the FSR 4 update for the PS5 Pro, highlighting major changes for PlayStation’s hardware.

Sony typically releases new hardware every 7 years, so it will be interesting to see whether this leak proves accurate in the long run.

Although the past may suggest otherwise, generational hardware improvements are no longer as massive as they used to be. Because the PS6 will likely be a modest step up over the PS5, it would make sense for Sony to prolong the current generation as much as possible.

Venom Spin-Off Title Releasing in 2026 Before Marvel’s Wolverine, It’s Claimed

Story Highlight
  • A new report suggests a Venom standalone title is set for a 2026 release, followed by Marvel’s Wolverine for 2027.
  • A Venom spin-off title has been rumored for development for quite some time now, although it has taken Insomniac way longer than expected.
  • Beyond these games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 is set to arrive in 2029 as a cross-gen title.

Insomniac’s iteration of the web-head is often hailed as one of the greatest, despite the sequel not meeting the expectations set by the original 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man. However, Insomniac is set to expand the Spider-Family further by introducing more Spider characters from the source material.

While we’ve already received a Miles Morales standalone in 2020, a new Venom spin-off was set to build on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s story. Fans have been wondering what happened to the project, but now a new insider has come forward to claim that the Venom spin-off game is set to release in 2026.

Why it matters: It usually doesn’t take spin-off titles to take this much development time, which implies that Venom may have a bigger scope than expected.

This claim comes from a YouTuber THEMAGGSHOW, and according to him, the Venom standalone title is expected before Marvel’s Wolverine. Fans can expect to play as Experiment X sometime in 2027, according to the report.

Beyond that, the YouTuber added that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 will be released in 2029 as a cross-gen title.

We advise readers to take this information with a grain of salt. It’s best to await official confirmation by Insomniac of PlayStation itself.

It’s also important to note that Venom’s voice actor, Tony Todd, unfortunately, passed away recently. However, he recorded a lot of dialogue for the character that didn’t make it to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This is all the hint that Todd did his work for the standalone title before his tragic passing.

Aside from these titles, job listings have also suggested a new multiplayer title in the works, which is expected to be another Spider-Man game, but that remains to be seen.
