Marvel’s Blade Entered Production In Late 2024

Story Highlight
  • Marvel’s Blade was announced nearly two years ago at The Game Awards.
  • Arkane Lyon’s financial statements reveal the game has been in production for around six months.
  • It could be launched at some point in 2027 or 2028, given current AAA timelines.

Xbox first announced Marvel’s Blade in late 2023, and the game has been missing from major events since then. Being developed by Arkane Lyon, the project is said to borrow from the studio’s DNA of stealth-action games.

The game was previously reported to be in development for two years at the time of the announcement, and a financial statement from last year reveals that it entered production in the same year.

Why it matters: Marvel’s Blade is expected to launch at some point in 2027. If the game entered production last year, it will likely require at least two more years to be completed.

As shown above, the studio began production of its latest AAA project in late 2024. This means that this phase has been ongoing for about six months, potentially setting the stage for a new appearance at The Game Awards 2025 or any of the other upcoming events.

It should be noted that modern AAA productions last anywhere from three to four years. Due to the game’s current progress, fans speculate that it will launch as a cross-gen Xbox title, debuting on both current and next-generation consoles.

Marvel’s Blade is making use of the same Void engine as Deathloop and other Arkane Lyon titles, but the studio has likely made key upgrades to the technology since then. As such, Marvel’s Blade could also become a showcase for Xbox’s next-generation hardware.

Nonetheless, excitement for Marvel’s Blade remains high. Marvel’s film based on the same character appears to be stalled for now, so fans are eager to see what Arkane Lyon will do with the gaming adaptation while they wait for the film.

What do you think about this information? Do you expect to see the title at an event later this year? Share your opinions in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Krafton Reportedly Delaying Subnautica 2 To Avoid Paying $250 Million In Developer Bonuses

Story Highlight
  • A new report claims that Krafton delayed Subnautica 2 into 2026 to avoid paying $250 million in developer bonuses.
  • Unknown Worlds Studio also recently faced a leadership change, with the former founders and CFO being fired.
  • Krafton promised the bonus if the studio could achieve revenue goals by the end of 2025, which would be possible with the release of Subnautica 2.

Krafton has been a notable player in the gaming industry, known for its developer acquisitions throughout Asia. One of their notable acquisitions was Unknown Worlds Entertainment following the release of the highly acclaimed indie title Subnautica.

Seven years after the first title’s release, Unknown Worlds Entertainment is finally ready to release the sequel, which has unexpectedly been delayed. One report claims that publisher Krafton delayed the title to avoid paying $250 million as developer bonuses.

Why it matters: Unknown Worlds Entertainment has worked hard to get to this position from an indie dev. Krafton stealing away their hard work is very unethical for such a highly regarded company.

The Callisto protocol
The Callisto Protocol Failed Due To Its Gameplay, Says Krafton CEO

This report comes from Bloomberg. Leadership at Unknown Worlds Entertainment witnessed a shift last week, with Striking Distance Studio’s CEO assuming control.

Subanautica 2 was then delayed to 2026, which was against the former leadership’s wishes, who claimed that the game was ready to go.

The $250 million in bonuses was promised to Unknown Worlds Studio if they hit a certain revenue target by the end of 2025, which would be achievable by releasing Subnautica 2. Hence, this is why Krafton delayed the game without any cause.

The previous leadership at Unknown Worlds Studio planned to share the bonus with 100 employees, with some of them set to receive pay in six or even seven figures.

Hi-Fi Rush
Hi-Fi Rush 2 Will Be A Failure, Says Krafton

However, any hopes of bonuses are now down the drain after the studio’s founders and CFO were fired due to a leadership change.

The current CEO claims that Krafton wasn’t confident in Subnautica 2’s release this year. Furthermore, he also denied the above claims that this leadership change and delay were to avoid paying bonuses.

Microsoft Says AI Will Replace Humans Amid Cutting Thousands of Jobs To Focus on Former

Story Highlight
  • Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, thinks that AI will replace most human jobs.
  • However, he said that humans will remain in possession of programming even a century from now.
  • He believes that AI lacks the creativity and judgment necessary to replace human programmers.

There has been considerable concern regarding the progress of AI, as many believe it will take their jobs, and they are right to fear. The progression of AI is occurring at an unprecedented speed, continually increasing the fear in many people.

However, Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, said that AI will replace humans, as the company recently laid off thousands of employees to focus on the former.

Why it matters: Many companies are investing heavily in AI because they think it is the future. This is why many people are concerned that AI will take their jobs.

Bill Gates says AI is getting scary and humans won't be needed for most things
byu/MetaKnowing inChatGPT

Microsoft recently laid off 9,000 employees in order to focus more on AI. To cut expenses, the company laid off many employees without notice and canceled highly anticipated games, such as Perfect Dark.

While Bill Gates believes that AI can replace humans for most tasks, he doesn’t think it can completely replace them, at least in one particular field. He particularly mentioned that coding will be 100% in the hands of humans.

Bill Gates has acknowledged that the rapid progress of AI is starting to alarm people, and, in his view, in the new era, humans won’t be needed for most tasks. He thinks that if AI is going to replace a job, then perhaps that job shouldn’t have existed in the first place, which is quite a controversial take.

According to Bill Gates, most jobs will be replaced by AI; however, he believes that programmers are here to stay, and AI will not be able to replace them even in 100 years. His statement will surely scare many more people, as they were already quite sceptical.

What do you think about AI taking over almost all of the jobs? Do you think it will be possible for AI to take on every single job except programming? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Wins Game of the Year at Gayming Awards 2025

Story Highlight
  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard has somehow won a GOTY award.
  • The title has secured the award at the Gayming Awards 2025.
  • BioWare’s RPG has also won the award for having the best LGBTQ+ characters.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard was released in October last year and was soon considered one of the biggest failures, with many fans calling it the most disappointing release of 2024.

Despite much criticism, the title was nominated for many awards last year and even a GOTY from Time Magazine. Just recently, Dragon Age: The Veilguard won another GOTY at the Gayming Awards 2025.

Why it matters: Despite being considered a failure by the gaming community, Dragon Age: The Veilguard seems to be a hit among the “gayming” community.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Wins Another GOTY.

The Gayming Awards were hosted by content creators DEERE and Milady Confetti and took place in West Hollywood. Despite massive nominees like Dragon’s Dogma 2, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and others, Dragon Age: The Veilguard bagged the GOTY.

However, this wasn’t the only award the title won. It also won the award for the best LGBTQ+ character, which is, of course, won by the title’s protagonist, Rook. Not only that, but the voice actor of Rook’s character, Erika Ishii, also won the award for Best LGBTQ+ Voice Actor.

BioWare Veteran Calls Out People For Celebrating Layoffs At BioWare

An insider recently stated that the launch of Dragon Age: The Veilguard isn’t the reason behind the recent layoffs at Respawn, with EA claiming that the only reason was that it was not a live service title.

Nonetheless, what do you think about this? Do you think the title would’ve had a different story if it were a live service game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments, or join Tech4Gamers forums.

GTA 6 Online Aiming To Feature 96 Players Per Server, Report Claims

Story Highlight
  • The one-time editor at Rockstar Mag claims an inside source told him that GTA 6 online will have gigantic servers.
  • Rockstar has currently achieved a 64-player limit but aims to reach up to 96 players per session.
  • The official GTA Online servers are currently limited to 32 players, with some unofficial ones pushing that limit.

With Rockstar rumored to start a massive global marketing campaign for GTA 6, fans have also grown excited to see how well its multiplayer counterpart evolves. Previous rumors have suggested that Rockstar will sell GTA Online separately from GTA 6.

Fravilys, the one-time editor at the French fansite Rockstar Mag, now claims that an inside source confirms that the new GTA Online will feature much bigger servers. Rockstar is aiming to fill each GTA Online session with up to 96 players.

Why it matters: The new GTA Online will significantly advance the multiplayer experience as we know it. Each server will feel more populated and alive due to the increased player count, surpassing the current limit of official servers.

GTA 7 will allegedly cost less to make than GTA 6 due to AI use.

Fravilys claims on Medium that Rockstar has already figured out 64-player servers but aims to reach 96 players per single session. This would be a massive jump from the current GTA Online experience since Los Santos can feel isolating because of a lack of players.

The next version of GTA Online is said to be aiming for a seamless and immersive gaming experience, with the ambition of reaching up to 96 simultaneous players per session.

So, even with 64 players per session, the new GTA Online would feature double the players. Rockstar Games is also working on making the GTA 6 multiplayer more immersive by eliminating loading screens and improving the free-roam experience.

One of the most significant advances would be the ability to perform free-roam multiplayer activities with players from different sessions, without ever having to leave your own environment or experience loading times.

GTA 6
GTA 6 has also been confirmed for Xbox Series S by Rockstar Games.

The rumor also aligns with a 2021 Rockstar patent titled ‘System and method for session management in a multiplayer network gaming environment,’ which also hinted at a much larger player count for GTA 6 multiplayer servers.

Do you think GTA 6 will also push the limits of its online mode and set a whole new standard for the next decade? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Microsoft Reportedly Killing Xbox One Backward Compatibility With Next-Gen Console

Story Highlight
  • According to a new leak, the next-gen console may not be able to run Xbox One games.
  • That is because the next Xbox is said to be more like a PC, so there could be licensing issues with the games.
  • Xbox has a major advantage over PlayStation due to its backward compatibility, so it would not be a wise choice to abandon it.

Xbox is known for its backward compatibility, as many old games are still available via the latest console. This is perhaps the only significant advantage Xbox consoles have over PlayStation consoles, aside from their subscription services.

However, it seems that the company may no longer have this leverage, as an insider with knowledge of the next-gen console claims that Microsoft is planning to eliminate Xbox One backward compatibility

Why it matters: Many fans are sticking to Xbox because of its backward compatibility, so if this rumor is anything to go by, the response from the fandom won’t be pretty for the gaming giant.

Xbox Backward Compatibility Leak
Xbox Backward Compatibility Leak As Per Moore’s Law is Dead

Moore’s Law is Dead has revealed that the Xbox is at least partially killing backward compatibility, which is extremely concerning. If the next-gen Xbox consoles are more like a PC, then, as per the leak, it would be pretty difficult for old games to run on them, so the company would have to abandon them.

Obviously any XBOX 1st Party game or game with a “Play Anywhere” special agreement will work on either XBOX Consoles or Microsoft’s new ASUS Windows Handheld, but any old game or most third party are likely going to have major problems working on future XBOX Consoles if they really are just glorified Windows PCs.

The leak further reveals that it is similar to the games having issues working on the PS5 and Xbox Series S|X due to voice actor or licensing problems. With that logic, there would be many Xbox 360 games that would only be released on Xbox consoles, not on PC, as per a deal.

This seems like more of a speculation than a leak, which, to be honest, anyone could do. Additionally, Moore’s Law is Dead has been a complete miss or a hit, so we recommend that fans take this news with a massive grain of salt.

Stalker 2 Heading To PS5 Late 2025; PS5 Pro Enhancements Also Confirmed

Story Highlight
  • Stalker 2 launched on PC and Xbox Series S|X last year.
  • The game is set to launch on the PS5 just one year after its initial release.
  • GSC Game World has also confirmed PS5 Pro-exclusive enhancements for the title.

Stalker 2 launched on the Xbox Series S|X and PC last year after a troubled development cycle. Since then, the game has received plenty of updates and continues to be polished further.

Developer GSC Game World did not say much about a potential PS5 port until recently, but the team has now officially confirmed a PlayStation version of the game.

Why it matters: Stalker 2’s survival gameplay remains one-of-a-kind, leading to high anticipation from the PlayStation fanbase.

The team states that Stalker 2 on the PS5 will offer the same experience as the PC and Xbox Series S|X platforms.

DualSense features, such as Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers, will also be supported. GSC Game World has confirmed that additional enhancements are being worked on for the PS5 Pro version.

However, these enhancements will arrive at a later date. Although Stalker 2 does not have a firm release date for the PS5 yet, fans can expect more details in the coming months.

With events like Gamescom right around the corner, GSC Game World should have more to share very soon.

Stalker 2
Stalker 2 Was Challenging To Run For Even The Best Hardware Last Year

Stalker 2 received generally positive reviews last year, but the game was not without its drawbacks. In particular, the first-person shooter was bogged down by technical problems that persisted across all platforms.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see how the PS5 version performs when it finally arrives later this year.

How To Deal With Rising Video Game Prices

Story Highlight
  • Games are becoming increasingly expensive to develop due to new technology, larger scope, inflation, and other factors.
  • This has made the hobby less affordable for many consumers worldwide.
  • Platforms like Eneba can serve as an important alternative in this scenario.

Games are bigger than ever today, but they are also more expensive than ever.

Between $80 AAA releases, expensive hardware, and sudden price hikes from major companies, gamers have been left seeking a solution to the increasing costs worldwide. Fortunately, Eneba.com presents a solution to these challenges.

Why it matters: Expensive games are problematic since inflation is also rising worldwide. This means that people, in general, have less income to spare for their hobbies.

Rising Video Game Prices

AAA Games Cost More To Make Than They Used To

Over time, games have become more expensive to produce. The pursuit of better visuals, bigger open worlds, and more ambitious storytelling has led to games costing more than double their price compared to 10 years ago.

Players also demand more and more with each new release, leaving teams with no choice but to pursue small details that drive costs higher and higher.

The Digital Era

Xbox Physical Games
Physical Games Are Slowly Dying Out

Digital games also play a role in the expenses since platform holders can manipulate prices and dictate when and how games are put on sale. Moreover, fees can vary from platform to platform, leading to price hikes in certain scenarios.

Fortunately, alternative marketplaces like Eneba can help alleviate these problems.

A Potential Solution

Eneba essentially serves as a one-stop shop for all your gaming needs. The platform offers game keys, gift cards, in-game currency purchases, and a lot more to help you combat the rising prices of today.

Effectively, Eneba offers unbeatable deals for gaming enthusiasts, and customers can utilize the platform’s blogs to learn more about a wide range of games. If this wasn’t appealing enough, Eneba also offers non-gaming products to appeal to a broader market.

Since gaming prices are likely to worsen before they improve, Eneba can be a valuable tool for all gamers worldwide. Perhaps you, too, should consider exploring the platform for your next purchase.

Ex-Naughty Dog Dev Moving To Japan To Form New Studio After Last of Us Multiplayer Cancelled

Story Highlight
  • A former Naughty Dog employee has left for Japan to start a new studio.
  • The dev is working on a new multiplayer title made on Unreal Engine 5.
  • Following the cancellation of The Last of Us multiplayer game, his second single-player title was also axed at Naughty Dog, prompting him to leave the studio.

Naughty Dog has stretched The Last of Us franchise with more than eight different iterations stemming from just two main entries. The developers had once planned to release a multiplayer standalone title a couple of years ago, which was ultimately cancelled.

The cancellation also resulted in a few layoffs, along with some employees who willingly left the studio. One senior employee who worked for Naughty Dog for over a decade, involved with the development of The Last of Us 2, Uncharted 4, and Uncharted Lost Legacy, has now left for Japan to start a new studio for his upcoming game.

Why it matters: Usually, being involved with publishers means that the creative direction of a project will be steered away. Without Naughty Dog, the dev will now have complete freedom over his title and development.

Vinit Agarwal recently made this announcement on X. Following his departure from Naughty Dog earlier in January, the dev is already working on a new title. Details about the project are unknown aside from the fact that it’s being made on the Unreal Engine 5

Moreover, the dev has also hinted at the title being multiplayer as he expressed his disappointment to a fan over Naughty Dog cancelling the multiplayer Last of Us game. He said that he will continue making multiplayer games as it is something he’s passionate about.

Naughty Dog is working on a second single-player game besides Intergalactic

Vinit Agarwal previously led the development of The Last of Us multiplayer game, which was shelved as it would take too many resources away from Naughty Dog’s single-player games.

Following this cancellation, Agarwal led another single-player game at Naughty Dog, which was also unfortunately cancelled, eventually making him decide to leave the studio for good.

Japanese Dev Says Japan’s AAA Studios Lack the Talent to Make A COD-Level FPS

Story Highlight
  • One Japanese dev says that domestic AAA studios lack the talent to compete with COD.
  • Their attempts so far have been lame, says the dev.
  • The dev adds that Japanese studios should instead focus on their strengths, which is entirely different from what COD does to deliver a decent AAA FPS.

COD has arguably become the face of the FPS market in gaming, leaving the rest of the competitors like Battlefield and Halo behind in the dust.

Despite numerous attempts to recreate the magic that COD has, each attempt has failed so far. One Japanese dev shares his two cents on this matter, saying that domestically made FPS can’t just compete with COD because they lack the necessary talent to do so.

Why it matters: Activision has been making COD games for over 2 decades so and thus far, they’ve almost perfected their craft. Hence, it would make sense why any other developer can’t compete with them.

japan aaa fps cod
Japanese dev sharing his thoughts on domestic AAA FPS titles on X

In a long thread posted on X, the Japanese dev explained that domestic AAA studios lack the military knowledge required to make a COD-like FPS. Furthermore, their lack of talent and expertise has rendered their attempts lame thus far.

He even claimed that Medal of Honor Warfighter couldn’t recreate the same magic as COD games do, so how could a Japanese studio succeed where they failed?

Additionally, Japanese devs also aren’t familiar with the Hollywood-esque direction, and the same is the case with their audience. Kojima Productions is the only studio that comes close to delivering such an experience, but they haven’t been able to perfect it themselves.

Call-of-Duty-Warzone-2.0
Activision spent nearly $2 billion on the development of 3 COD games

However, the dev still thinks Japan has a chance to compete in the AAA FPS stage. Resident Evil 7 and 8 are notable examples of this and show that they should just stick to their craft of making a soft and cool game instead of a rough experience like COD.

The Resident Evil franchise has a blockbuster appeal to which is also a reason why the franchise is loved worldwide. In the future, the dev expects a Japanese-made AAA FPS that leverages their strength rather than chasing trends.

Why Kids Are So Obsessed With Fortnite

Story Highlight
  • Fortnite remains incredibly popular among kids today.
  • Social elements, competitive gameplay, and more have contributed to the game’s popularity.
  • Kids also enjoy the consistent updates from Epic Games, which ensure the gameplay stays fresh at all times.

Fortnite has become the blueprint for a successful live-service title. Big publishers see the IP as a money-printing machine, while gamers envision Fortnite as a game with endless possibilities.

Because of its popularity among younger audiences, parents have also become quite familiar with the game. However, what exactly makes Fortnite so appealing to kids?

Why it matters: Fortnite has been relevant for over seven years, showing unprecedented staying power for a game that burst onto the scene out of nowhere at the height of the battle royale craze.

An Ever-Evolving Experience

OG Fortnite
Fortnite Changes With Each New Update

A major reason behind Fortnite’s appeal is its ever-changing nature. Whether it be new events, skins, or game modes, the game always has something fresh to offer.

Kids enjoy the new experience every time they log into Fortnite, and the element of FOMO also keeps the younger generation coming back. Fortnite is so good at keeping things fresh that it has inspired entire AAA teams to pursue their own live-service projects.

The Social Element

Fortnite’s online nature means that it encourages social interactions. Kids usually team up with their friends when playing the game, so each gameplay session serves as a virtual hangout.

When joining different groups, kids can also brag about their achievements. Many choose to show off their rare skins or emotes, which can be purchased through Epic Games V Bucks.

Building Creativity

Fortnite
The Core Gameplay Encourages Creativity

Fortnite’s sandbox gameplay encourages creativity and problem-solving. In particular, building allows players to experiment with custom game modes to make their own fun besides the core gameplay loop.

Building can be used to create ramps, forts, and more, turning a simple battle royale experience into something a lot more creative.

Fortnite Is Accessible

Another major reason behind the game’s success is that it requires no upfront investment. Unlike other titles, the game is free-to-play, and it still offers plenty of style.

The vibrant art style, catchy soundtracks, and iconic skins give the entire experience a charm that most other free-to-play titles can’t match. Fortnite’s customization is truly limitless, encouraging kids to ask their parents for V-Bucks sooner or later.

Being The Best

Competition Fuels The Moment-To-Moment Combat Encounters

Competition is at the heart of any online game, and Fortnite is no different. Kids enjoy the ability to compete with 99 players in a battle royale, and seeing their skills improving in real-time can be quite satisfactory.

Each match presents these kids with an opportunity to correct past mistakes, making for thrilling moments and unforgettable matches.

Fortnite’s sustained popularity ensures that more and more kids try the game each day. This also means that there is always a consistent demand for more V-Bucks, so it is always wise to look out for the best deals before making a purchase.
