Cheaper All-Digital White Xbox Series X Reportedly In The Works

Expected To Be $50 To $100 Cheaper!

Story Highlight
  • According to sources, Microsoft is working on an all-digital console.
  • The new Xbox Series X model will come in white.
  • Microsoft plans to launch this console at a cheaper price than the current $500 model.
  • The leak suggests Xbox is targeting June to July to release the console.

While Sony has already released the PS5 Slim recently, Xbox has yet to refresh both of its current-gen consoles. Last year, the gaming giant launched a 1TB Xbox Series S, and leaks pointed to a similar all-digital refresh for the Xbox Series X.

A reliable industry leaker now suggests that Microsoft is currently working on a similar Xbox Serties X console.

Why it matters: Though Xbox sales have stalled recently, a new console launch with proper marketing could get things moving for Microsoft again.

As reported by eXtas1s via eXputer, Xbox’s next console is right around the corner.

This will be a much-anticipated refresh for the Xbox Series X, revamping the design with an all-new white color. Microsoft will ditch the disc drive for this console, cutting production costs and adapting to the growing digital market.

The console will also feature an improved heatsink and the Nexus card will be upgraded compared to the current model. According to the report, this console is likely to be cheaper than the existing model.

While no price has been revealed yet, Microsoft should be looking to reduce the $500 target by around $50-100. This would bring it in line with the cost of Sony’s Digital Edition PS5 console.

Storage will remain the same at 1TB.

In terms of release date, the leaker has suggested that the console will be launched somewhere between June and July. If the leak is accurate, we may get an official announcement soon.

The insider claims to have already seen images of the console. He also reported an accurate release date for Hellblade 2 recently, leaving little room for doubt.

Not too long ago, we reported that Sony sold more PS5 consoles last year than Xbox Series S|X units sold in the last three years. This move from Microsoft could finally shake up the market in a meaningful way.

The Xbox Series X could soon be the cheapest console on the market with capable hardware. While PlayStation might become the leader in terms of raw horsepower with the PS5 Pro, a discounted Xbox Series X will be quite appealing to the general market.
