- Nintendo has said GTA 6 on Switch 2 is ultimately Rockstar and Take-Two’s call.
- A Switch 2 version would be a major win for Nintendo, but technical and business factors may decide its chances.
- Rockstar Games could bring another title like Red Dead Redemption 2 to the console as a substitute.
Recent rumors have discussed the possibility of GTA 6 launching on the Nintendo Switch 2, but a former Rockstar Games developer believes this would not make much sense.
Nintendo has also weighed in on the subject now, stating that the final decision rests with Rockstar Games and Take-Two.
Why it matters: The Nintendo platform might be a bit too limited to support the upcoming Grand Theft Auto entry, but many fans still want to see Rockstar Games at least attempt a Switch 2 port.

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard was recently asked to comment on GTA 6 possibly releasing on the Switch 2 down the line.
She was quick to say that the gaming giant aims to satisfy gamers of all ages, so a GTA 6 launch would not be unsuited to the platform. However, she also mentioned that Rockstar Games would have the final say on the matter.
That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar.

Of course, GTA 6’s ambitious nature might be at odds with the Nintendo Switch 2’s more modest hardware. Many believe Rockstar Games will simply forego the chance to make a Switch 2 version of the game due to how GTA 6 aims to push hardware to its limits across all areas
. Still, Rockstar Games could bring an older title like Red Dead Redemption 2 to the console.
