GTA 6 Team Addressing Fan Feedback From Past Games!

Story Highlight
  • Rockstar Games says that the team has attempted to offer more choices withing gameplay missions in GTA 6.
  • Missions shown in the Netflix Extended Look did not restrict Jason and Lucia to a singular escape path.
  • This is Rockstar Games’ attempt at directly addressing feedback from Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5.

GTA 6 is now just over a month away from its release, and excitement for the game couldn’t be any higher.

As it pulls out all the stops ahead of launch day, Rockstar Games is consistently sharing more information about GTA 6. The team has now confirmed that it has added an open-ended approach to missions in the game.

Why it matters: Rockstar Games’ main mission design has traditionally been very restrictive, so players will be glad to see that the team is attempting to move on from this philosophy.

GTA 6 Is Coming Next Month

As reported by IGN, the GTA 6 team has consciously attempted to open up the game’s mission design.

This is being done in an attempt to give players more options when approaching the story mode. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson explained that the first mission from the Netflix Extended Preview gives players two routes to escape.

Moreover, he explained that the chase sequence from the Netflix Extended Look footage allows players to take different routes without failing the mission. This is something that likely would not have been possible in previous Rockstar Games titles like Red Dead Redemption 2.

Of course, it’s hard to say just how open the game’s mission design will be at the end of the day. However, this update is encouraging, and it suggests the team has listened to fan feedback from the last few years.

We have made a very conscious effort to open things up where possible, without compromising the quality of the experience.

Grocery shopping is going to be a part of the game, just not a mandatory one.

Fans should still expect to see plenty of scripted sequences in the game, but if GTA 6 is able to strike the right balance between scripted and open missions, it will finally address a longtime criticism while maintaining the cinematic flair that Rockstar Games’ titles are known for.
