- Nvidia recently denied the claims that it is cancelling its highest-end RTX 5090.
- Despite that, the company has reportedly stopped taking orders for it from partners.
- They claim that this is the first time the company isn’t taking any backorders.
It was recently reported that Nvidia would be discontinuing the RTX 5090, since the chip used in it is the same as that used in the RTX Pro series, and they want to prioritize data center orders. However, the company denied the reports.
Now, a new report reveals that despite the statement, Nvidia is not taking orders for the RTX 5090 chip from its board partners. The partners say that this is unusual, as they were at least allowed to place backorders previously.
Why it matters: Since AI data centers are where the revenue is primarily coming from these days, and the RTX 5090 isn’t an option for regular consumers, the company seems to want to use it for its professional lineup.
der8auer contacted Nvidia to ask about the status of the GPU, and they reiterated that they’re not cancelling it. He also reached out to AIB partners, who revealed that all the RTX 5090 orders are on hold for now.
Nvidia has told them that they are not discontinuing the GPU, and while supply issues have happened before, this is the first time tech giants are not accepting any backorders, which suggests that things might not be as stated.

Jensen Huang’s company has been accused of being anti-consumer ever since the whole AI boom happened. Their prices have skyrocketed compared to Radeon GPUs, and the priority isn’t the consumers; it’s the businesses.
