The memory crisis has been a disaster for the industry. Hardware prices are skyrocketing, and analysis firms have predicted that this isn’t going away anytime soon. Apart from RAM and SSDs, GPUs have been the most affected. 

The prices were already soaring, but now, following a recent price hike, Nvidia RTX 50 Series Blackwell GPUs are now selling at a median price of up to 135% of the MSRP in the US, with the RTX 5070 costing $900. 

Why it matters: GPU prices had already become insane; however, this price increase has taken them to a devastatingly new high. For context, the RTX 5090 is now going for a whopping $5,000 from its $1,999 MSRP.

Videocardz has compiled data showcasing how the RTX 50 series prices have grown since their launch. On the flagship side, the RTX 5090 saw a 135% price increase from launch, and the RTX 5080 saw a 50% increase. 

Upper mid-range and mid-range cards saw massive price spikes as well. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB went from its $429 MSRP to $800 now, marking a 40% increase, and the 5070 is the latest casualty, now costing 64% above MSRP.

The RTX 5070 was considered the best value in the series, but at nearly $900 now with 12GB VRAM, it has become a hard buy. But this is just the reality we are living in now, and the situation has gone from bad to worse
