- Gran Turismo 7 is still selling and growing better than expected on PS5.
- Polyphony Digital says the growing user base helped justify continued updates.
- The team is also working on Gran Turismo 8 at the moment.
PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7 launched over four years ago, and the game remains as impressive as ever.
Polyphony Digital is also said to be working on a sequel now, but the team continues to support Gran Turismo 7. As per the studio, the racing title is still quite popular to this day.
Why it matters: Although PlayStation has seen many live-service failures, Gran Turismo 7 remains one of its strongest titles that has lasted several years, even if it may sometimes fly under the radar.

In an interview with Traxion, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi noted that Polyphony Digital did not expect the game’s player base to keep growing this strongly so long after release.
The game is still receiving content because its user base continues to grow. Since launch, Polyphony Digital has supported Gran Turismo 7 with new cars, tracks, races, and quality-of-life updates.
Another update is set to arrive as soon as next week, adding six new cars and the Sportsland Sugo circuit to the game. Afterwards, even more content will follow in December.
Gran Turismo 7 is still continuing to sell very well, but we had not expected this from the beginning.
As for Gran Turismo 8, there’s no telling when Polyphony Digital will release the next iteration of its popular racing series. Given that the latest title is performing so well, the team is unlikely to be in any rush.
