The PC platform has been a key part of Xbox’s plan for over a decade, with the gaming giant still focusing on PC after returning to exclusivity.
However, the Xbox PC app has never had the smoothest reputation among PC gamers. Microsoft seems to be addressing these concerns now, with a redesign coming very soon.
Why it matters: Following the arrival of CEO Asha Sharma, Xbox has made various changes to directly address fan feedback, including the introduction of Mythic Achievements, Xbox Player Voice, and more.
According to Windows Central, the overhauled app is much faster and features a redesigned interface with better navigation. This is a welcome change because the Xbox app is a central part of Microsoft’s PC gaming push.
The new Xbox PC app is said to feel much more responsive. Elsewhere, the redesign aims to simplify how gamers navigate around the application, combining game listings and their storage pages.
The new Xbox PC app also provides a clearer distinction between games that support local installs and those limited to cloud gaming. Similarly, mouse-and-keyboard and controller navigation are available to PC users.
All of this seems to have impressed longtime PC and Xbox gamers who have managed to test the app so far.
It is estimated that this overhauled version of the application will roll out to Xbox Insiders before the end of 2026.
