Player Voice System Could Be Revolutionary If Xbox Maintains This Pace!

Story Highlight
  • Xbox Player Voice launched earlier this week, and the gaming giant is already addressing feedback gathered from the forum.
  • Following the latest preview update, the Games Hub now shows total play time in hours instead of days.
  • This update should be available to all Xbox users in the near future.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has made striking changes to the business already, including a much-needed Game Pass discount. Recently, the CEO also helped introduce Xbox Player Voice, a forum to gauge audience demand for the platform.

Following this release, the CEO’s memo on making rapid changes continues to take shape. Xbox has already implemented one of the most-requested changes just days after this forum’s launch.

Why it matters: In the past, Xbox was often slow to address fan demand. This is perhaps why the gaming giant has been stuck in last place in the console industry for a while.

A new update was released to Xbox Insiders on May 22, confirming one key change that fans had wanted for a while.

This rollout is impressive since the forum was introduced on May 18. Given that it took at least a day for Xbox to gather feedback, the gaming giant has rolled out the update in a mere 3 days.

The Games Hub now shows total play time in hours instead of days. Effectively, this change allows Xbox to highlight how long players have spent on a game, much like Steam and PlayStation.

Note that play time tracking is not entirely new, but this update addresses fan demand to showcase the time in hours. The update reduces players’ effort of manually converting play time from days into hours.

Xbox has also acknowledged this change on its Player Voice forums. Although the update is limited to Xbox Insiders for now, a broader rollout is planned in the near future.

Of course, the gaming giant has yet to address the elephant in the room. The most-demanded feature on Player Voice is related to exclusivity, and Asha Sharma has not shied away from discussing the subject in the past.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see whether Xbox does eventually return to exclusives in a major way.
