- After recent hikes, most players stated that the Game Pass was no longer a good value.
- The new CEO has announced that the prices have now been slashed from $29.99 to $22.99.
- However, new Call of Duty games won’t be released day 1 on the subscription service.
Fans were skeptical when Asha Sharma was announced as Phil Spencer’s replacement as head of Xbox, given her background in AI. However, she has indeed shown promise with an increased focus on hardware, and now towards Game Pass too.
Xbox head has announced that Game Pass Ultimate is getting a price cut. It will cost $22.99, not $29.99. However, there is also some bad news: Call of Duty games will no longer be released day 1 on the service.
Why it matters: Many dubbed the subscription service as no longer a good value for money, based on how much it costs after the price increase. There will still be mixed opinions due to the Call of Duty situation.

Ashma Sharma took to X to announce the reduction in price. She wrote that the service had become too expensive for most players. They are committed to learning and evolving Game Pass accordingly.
New Call of Duty titles will skip day 1 release, but they will come out on the service about a year later. However, the existing titles will remain and won’t be removed. It’s just that the newer games will have a delayed release.

So, on one hand, while the reduction in Game Pass Ultimate is a welcome change, the Call of Duty change isn’t. But this could help regain the value of the FPS shooter, as its sales weren’t really satisfactory this time around.
