Modern Warfare (2019) Is Outperforming Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 in Player Count Right Now

Modern Warfare Is Currently The 2nd Best Selling Game On Steam!

Story Highlight
  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare is outperforming Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 right now.
  • The game is 90% off on Steam and has climbed to become the 2nd-best-selling game on the platform.
  • Modern Warfare reinvented the series when it came out, but unfortunately, Call of Duty has lost its momentum now.

Both Call of Duty and Battlefield, regarded as the front-runners in the FPS genre, failed to take off last year, with most of the attention being diverted to other titles like Arc Raiders. Battlefield 6 was supposed to be the return to form for the series, but EA failed to capitalize on the hype. For Call of Duty, Black Ops 7 was the breaking point for fans who had given up on the series for becoming too ‘goofy’ and repetitive.

Just to get a sense of the performance of both these FPS titles, the now 7-year-old Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019) is outperforming Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 in terms of player count.

Why it matters: Hopefully, the failure of both these titles would be a wake-up call for EA and Activision, who have been lagging behind in offering what the players really want.

Modern Warfare (2019) has a little over 50k players right now, more than Battlefield 6’s 37k and Black Ops 7’s 24k players.

Modern Warfare (2019) also hit its first-ever player peak of 52,070 in the last 24 hours, after being 90% off. Previously, the player count was tied to Warzone, which is why it’s the peak is appearing so low now.

Anyhow, this sale has made the game the 2nd-best-selling game on Steam, trailing only Crimson Desert.

Modern Warfare (2019) is widely regarded for reinventing the series into a more authentic military experience, aligning closely with what the Call of Duty series is branded as. In fact, it’s the only memorable entry in the series in quite a long time.

Unfortunately, the series lost its momentum after that entry. Now, Activision is looking to start anew with a new subfranchise that will reportedly be introduced in 2027. As for Battlefield 6, the game failed to take off even with the new season; RedSec didn’t make much of a difference either.
