GTA 6 Download Size Will Be 210 GB On PS5, Twice As Large As Red Dead Redemption 2

The Game Will Take A Hefty Amount Of Space On Your SSD.

Story Highlight
  • GTA 6 will weigh a massive 210 GB for its standard edition on the PS5.
  • The game’s download size is twice as big as Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • Considering the Rockstar title’s immense scale and in-depth systems, this file size isn’t too surprising.

With just under a month left to go until launch, players are gearing up to finally pre-load GTA 6 after years of waiting. Rockstar is leaving no stone unturned in marketing the title, and the game is already boosting PS5 sales in the US, exactly as Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick predicted.

With NPC systems that have been in the works for the last 10 years and a map twice the size of its predecessor, GTA 6 is unsurprisingly going to have a massive file size on consoles. Now, the Rockstar game’s download size has been revealed, and players will need to make considerable room on their SSDs.

Why it matters: If there is one game that can justify taking more than 100 GB of space on your storage drive, it’s GTA 6.

As revealed by PlayStation Game Size on X, GTA 6 will have a 210 GB download size on PS5, with the pre-load available one week before the November 19 release. The upcoming Rockstar game will take twice as much space in your storage as Red Dead Redemption 2, which only weighed 105 GB back in 2018.

Moreover, this download size could increase even more at the time of launch if Rockstar releases a day-one patch for GTA 6. Hence, players who have bought the game’s standard edition should clean up a significant amount of room on their PS5 before November 12.

Considering how GTA 6 has over one hundred accessible interiors, a scale so big that no developer knows the title inside out, and Rockstar’s biggest-ever map, the 210 GB file size is not a surprise.

GTA 6
GTA 6 is such a massive undertaking that no one at Rockstar knows the game inside out.

The open-world game is set to feature a dynamic weather system, dozens of side activities with fully fledged systems, and over 170 animal species, making the massive download size worth it. Hopefully, Rockstar can keep its promise of overdelivering on the steep expectations fans have for GTA 6.

Do you think the upcoming Rockstar title will justify its massive 210 GB file size? Are you looking forward to playing the game in just under one month? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
