Ubisoft Japan has canceled its Tokyo Game Show online stream due to “various circumstances.”
The studio shared no exact reason for the cancellation, leaving many anticipated gamers confused.
This sudden cancelation could be due to recent controversies regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Despite all the chaos surrounding Ubisoft—with its falling stocks and other recent controversies—fans have still been looking forward to its future endeavors. The best place to learn about the company’s new and currently in-development projects would have been the approaching Tokyo Game Show 2024 affair, one of the largest yearly events in gaming since the 90s.
However, Ubisoft Japan has now decided to back out of its planned TGS online stream. It abruptly announced the negative development without giving any concrete reasons for the sudden cancellation.
Why it matters: The abrupt cancellation of Ubisoft Japan’s Tokyo Game Show stream suggests that it may not have been too confident in its planned gameplay showcases.
Ubisoft Japan has recently canceled plans for the Tokyo Game Show online stream.
The Ubisoft Japan Twitter handle announced the update in Japanese, which reads that it is canceling online participation in the Tokyo Game Show, which was planned to begin at 15:00 on 26 September 2024. The event has seemingly been dropped due to “various circumstances.”
In other words, we will no longer get to see an exclusive showcase of Ubisoft games, such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows and other possible projects. The exact plans for the online stream were still unknown.
The announcement continued with an apology for the short notice, with the studio also apologizing to players who were looking forward to the event.
Ubisoft had also likely planned to heavily feature Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the Tokyo Game Show 2024.
At the moment, it is not known whether Ubisoft will do its own showcase in the following weeks to make up for this sudden cancellation of the Tokyo Game Show online stream.
All in all, some players think the studio was not too confident in the planned gameplay showcases, which led to a change of plans. On the flip side, the other group argues that the recent Assassin’s Creed Shadows controversy may also have played a role in its cancellation.

A new Red Dead Redemption game is almost confirmed, and fans hope Charles Smith will play a lead role in it.
Some fans think that exploring Canada as a young Charles would be interesting.
After the gang was broken, Charles managed to flee to Canada so his life could be worth exploring.
Red Dead Redemption is arguably one of the biggest franchises in the gaming industry right now. The story of Arthur Morgan and John Marston has a huge influence on gamers, with many claiming the former to be the best-written character in fiction.
The last game in the series, Red Dead Redemption 2, was released in 2018, and ever since, fans have been hoping for a new entry. While there are many hints confirming the existence of Red Dead Redemption 3, fans are demanding to see Charles Smith as the lead in the title.
Why it matters: A new Red Dead Redemption game is long overdue, and fans already have quite a few ideas on how Rockstar can explore the series further.
In a Reddit thread at Reddeadredemptions created by a user, Wandering Brother proposed the idea of young Charles as the protagonist or one of the protagonists in RDR3. He thinks that exploring the Native American angle would be a good idea, as this hasn’t usually been in Western movies and shows.
While many people in the comments section seem to have different views on how Rockstar should treat the next game in the franchise, some seem to agree. Some users are finding this idea pretty good, as Charles has one of the best backstories in the game.
I’d do anything for a Charles prequel of some kind. Let’s meet his mom. Let’s meet his dad.
Let’s see how he interacted with the world before he left home, and after. I’m begging.
-BleakBluejay
Charles is arguably one of the best characters in the game, so exploring his past would be a good option. His mother was abducted by US soldiers, which caused his father to become an alcoholic, forcing Charles to leave home at the age of 13.
He explored the wilderness and became an expert, which is why you can see him leading the way in Red Dead Redemption 2. While it is a great idea to see how he lived his life back then, it might not live up to the standards of the previous games.
After the gang was torn to pieces, Charles managed to flee to Canada, so exploring the country with him as the main lead might be a better idea. The Blackwater incident could also excite the fandom, as many would like to see the prime of a gunslinger even better than Arthur.

Haytham Kenway is Assassin’s Creed’s best protagonist, considering his status as a Kenway, a family full of Assassins.
Despite being a Tempar, Haytham’s intentions were good regardless of his ways of achieving peace.
Haytham wasn’t a bad guy; in fact, it was more of a player’s perspective to see him as bad or good.
The Assassin’s Creed series has had many antagonists and protagonists throughout the entries, who weren’t limited to either of the sides: Templars or Assassins. There have been many storylines throughout the franchise exploring different eras and the rise and fall of each side.
Previously, I mentioned that the Kenway saga is among the best from the Assassin’s Creed franchise because of the way that each story is connected from Assassin’s Creed 3 to Rogue.
One reason that particular storyline was so good is Haytham Kenway, who, in my opinion, is the series’ best antagonist. Haytham’s background and status as a Kenway member make him an interesting friend or foe.
Why It Matters: With more than 10 entries in the series featuring so many villains and heroes, fans often debate who the best antagonist was. Haytham Kenway is the answer because of his recurring appearance and perspective from both the Templar and Assassin’s sides.
Haytham’s Background Makes Him An Interesting Character
Kenway Family From Assassin’s Creed
I wouldn’t exactly say that Haytham was a villain, but the antagonist term seems to fit him better since both Templars and Assassins have shown to be on the good side and sometimes bad, depending on the era and power.
I’d argue that Haytham’s character was the most explored one in the franchise. It’s surprising, considering that Edward was one of the most legendary Assassins, but Haytham turned into a Templar.
This was because Reginal Brich raised Haytham as a Templar after Edward’s death. Even after discovering that he had been manipulated into following the order, his faith didn’t deviate.
While he was overshadowed by his father, Edward, and son, Connor, Haytham’s position was a bit weird in an upbringing of a tragic childhood and being burdened with great responsibilities.
Haytham’s Motives Set Him Apart From Other Antagonists
Various Villains From Assassin’s Creed
Aside from Shay Cormac, Haytham was one of the most logical and good Templars in the series, often portrayed as the bad guys. While his appearance in Assassin’s Creed 3 may cause people to consider him a bad guy, the overarching narrative says otherwise.
Haytham was actually a good guy, in my opinion. Consider this: He learned of his father’s background as an Assassin but didn’t abandon his Templar ideology because he knew this was the way to achieve peace regardless of the price.
From his perspective, the Templars and everyone from each group were the good guys. Haytham was the first character in the series, making the players contemplate whether the Assassins were the good guys. His arguments were always logical, and the Assassin’s way of freedom always resulted in anarchy.
This happens with his interactions with Connor throughout the game. Sure, they have nice moments together, even teaming up, and Haytham even tries to get closer to his son despite their different beliefs, but they each fall apart at the end of the day due to the same aspect.
Still, Haytham wanted peace at the end of the day, and despite his first attempts to reconcile the Templars and Assassins towards ending the war, they still couldn’t quite come to it.
Haytham Kenway Wasn’t Exactly A Bad Guy
Haytham And Ziio | Credits: Zanar Aesthetics On YouTube
Since Assassin’s Creed 3 is from Connor’s pov, players automatically believe that the Assassins are the good guys. However, the dialogue exchange between father and son proves that neither side is good or bad, but they are equally wrong in their own ways.
In Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Haytham’s story is explored from Shay’s perspective as a Templar, which changed many people’s perspectives on his status, including mine. I understood more of the character and his willingness to do the wrong thing for the right sake.
What makes Haytham so good at the end of the day is that players are left to evaluate his status. Some may find him ruthless, while others may find him a reasonable person willing to do anything to end the war. It’s difficult to judge a person without being in their shoes.

For the first time, Xbox isn’t working on a mid-gen refresh of the Series consoles, unlike Sony, which has released the PS5 Pro.
Instead, they’re working on the next generation of consoles, reportedly releasing in 2 years.
Since PS5 Pro wasn’t even that big of an upgrade, Xbox made the right call for not releasing a mid-gen refresh and claimed the biggest leap in technology for its next-gen consoles.
It’s been a while since we’ve known that Microsoft won’t be releasing a mid-gen refresh of the Xbox Series consoles. The gaming giant made it clear that the Series X is the mid-gen refresh, with the Series S being the standard model.
While that news was disappointing to hear at first, PS5 Pro’s announcement makes it sound good. That $700 price point for a little upgrade doesn’t sound appealing, and the last thing Xbox needed was more negativity.
Hence, I believe that Microsoft made a good call for not working on a mid-gen refresh of the Series console. Instead, it is working on the next-gen Xbox consoles and all the flaws that the Series consoles had and will come back stronger, once again proving to be a competition for PlayStation.
Why It Matters: Xbox has already stated that it lost the console war against PlayStation, and its decision to not work on a mid-gen refresh and work on the brand proves that it is trying to better itself.
Next-Gen Xbox Reminds Me Of The Xbox 360 Era
Xbox 360 Is Microsoft’s Best Console
Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision revealed many secrets, including one that surprised us the most. Xbox will release its next-gen consoles in 2026, two years earlier than its normal console cycle.
This is precisely why they aren’t working on a mid-gen refresh of the Series consoles. It is a little disappointing that they are abandoning the Series X|S consoles, but considering how PlayStation is outselling them, it’s completely understandable.
This reminds me exactly of the Xbox 360 era when Microsoft unveiled its console a year earlier than PlayStation. Without a debate, the Xbox 360 was better compared to the PlayStation 3 hardware and price-wise.
The Xbox 360 was incredibly famous and one of the best consoles ever made. Xbox was still trying to build its brand then, considering it was the giant’s second console release, and not trying to compete directly with PlayStation, which they failed later on.
The next-gen consoles sound the same, and given the way Xbox has made many tough decisions this generation, I believe that it is working on something quite good.
Late 2026 also marks Xbox’s 25th anniversary, which makes a new console announcement perfect. Microsoft has already teased that it has bigger plans regarding this.
PS5 Pro Isn’t Even That Big Of An Upgrade
PS5 Pro Price Reveal Was Extremely Disappointing
The new generation of consoles has been facing many problems running games at a solid frame on a good resolution without upscaling, and it seems that even 4k gaming isn’t quite yet achievable on consoles with new titles.
A mid-gen refresh of the console is the basic reason to avoid hardware problems and give more of a premium experience running games on a decent resolution with good frames and nice graphics.
One would think that $700 ought to do that for PS5 Pro, but that isn’t the case, and the console is still dependent on their upscaling method, PSSR. The PS5 Pro isn’t even that big of an upgrade from the base model and is primarily reliant on GTA 6 for sale.
The Xbox Series consoles already don’t have much love from the public and do not have enough sales to be profitable for the company, so releasing overpriced hardware that doesn’t even do well would not be the right move for Xbox.
Xbox President claims that it will be the largest technological leap for the next-gen Xbox consoles. The chips won’t have much improvement since the cost is a massive factor in consoles, but Xbox is working on machine learning to make its next-gen consoles cost-efficient and powerful at the same time.
This time around, it will also announce a handheld console for the first time, going all out.
I’m excited for Xbox’s future and for PlayStation to see what they have planned to compete with Xbox. The next generation will have good competition between consoles and a better generation overall compared to the current one.

Sony has officially announced that the PlayStation State of Play is scheduled for tomorrow.
The gaming giant has promised to reveal updates and news of over 20 titles featuring PS5 and PSVR games.
The State of Play will go live at 3:00 PM PDT, 6:00 PM EDT, and 11:00 PM BST.
PlayStation fans have been patiently waiting for Sony to announce the State of Play so they can see the upcoming lineup of games. After many rumors, the gaming giant has just now officially announced that the event is scheduled for tomorrow.
Why it matters: This year, PlayStation has launched very few first-party titles, so the fandom has been waiting for a State of Play so they could see more of the previously announced titles or, hopefully, something new.
Sony Has Officially Announced the State of Play For Tomorrow
The official Twitter account of PlayStation has just posted that the State of Play will go live tomorrow, September 24. The fans have been waiting for this moment for a while, but some of them are not really optimistic.
That is because recently, the Horizon Forbidden Dawn remaster was leaked, and shortly after, a reliable insider revealed that Days Gone is also getting a remaster. So, these both could be announced tomorrow, which would kill all the hype and anticipation.
However, fans shouldn’t be that concerned as even if there are going to be remasters, the gaming giant has promised updates on over 20 titles. So, we could finally get some new information on the upcoming titles from Insomniac Games.
We could also see some more information on Death Stranding 2, as Hideo Kojima has been teasing something regarding it for a long time now. Fans should also note that the event is going to be over 30 minutes long and will feature PS5 and PSVR games.
Hopefully, we will get to hear more about the upcoming Wolverine and titles fans have been anticipating for a long time.

God of War Ragnarok launch was not optimal due to the PSN account requirement and performance issues.
However, a mod has been released that removes this unnecessary step, allowing players to play the game without any issues.
Moreover, a patch has now been released to fix the Nvidia DLSS Frame generation.
God of War Ragnarok is the latest Sony PC port after Final Fantasy 16. The port looks highly unoptimized and does not run on PCs with low-VRAM graphics cards. Due to optimization issues, Sony didn’t achieve much success with the port, as the players on Steam are subpar.
Another reason the game’s player count is low is the PSN account requirement. However, this requirement is no longer a problem, as there is now a mod that removes it.
Why it matters: Removing this hectic step will lead to some positive impressions of the game, and the mixed rating on Steam might improve.
Thanks To A Mod God of War Ragnarok PSN Requirement is No Longer An Issue
God of War Ragnarok was one of the most awaited PC ports, and it finally launched on PC; however, the launch was disappointing for Sony as it got mixed reviews due to the poor optimization and PSN requirement.
Due to these issues, the game saw an underwhelming 23k peak concurrent players on Steam. For reference, God of War had 80k peak players.
However, there’s good news for PC players: The PSN account requirement will no longer be an issue. Now, there is a mod by iArtorias that removes this preliminary step.
Meanwhile, the developer also added a patch fixing the glass frame generation issue, which means the game is getting better.
These fixes might increase the game’s performance on Steam, making it a successful port. Needless to say, we should wait to see how much the game performs sales-wise on PC.

Intel secured $8.5 billion, including $3.5 billion from the Department of Defense and a potential $5 billion from Apollo Global.
To save $10 billion, Intel plans to cut over 15,000 jobs and halt new facilities in Malaysia and Poland.
Intel is losing market share to AMD, and Qualcomm may explore a stock-for-stock merger as a potential acquisition strategy.
Intel is said to have raised $8.5 billion in capital in the last few days. As part of the Department of Defense’s Secure Enclave initiative, Intel has formally been granted authority for $3.5 billion in direct funding.
Apollo Global, which oversees assets valued at nearly $350 billion, is also prepared to invest up to $5 billion in Intel. Moreover, to cut costs by $10 billion, the company is chopping off more than 15,000 jobs and implementing other creative cost-cutting measures.
Why it matters: The capital raised will help Intel invest in future projects and maintain operational viability.
Apollo Seems To Be Taking initiative To Invest In Intel
Intel has put a two-year hold on building new advanced packaging facilities in Malaysia and Poland, citing “market conditions” as justification. However, the company is still losing market share in desktop, server + HPC, and chip deals like the upcoming PlayStation 6 to AMD.
Qualcomm is also reportedly interested in acquiring Intel, especially when it is at its lowest. However, Qualcomm will not directly acquire Intel. The ARM giant lacks the funds to pay for it.
That said, an alternative might be possible: a stock-for-stock merger in which investors in Intel trade their holdings for Qualcomm shares.
Whether it turns out good or bad, we eagerly await the results. While CES 2025 may seem like a whole new era for Intel. CES 2026 may mark a significant shift in the company’s fortunes.

Out of the top 10 best-selling CPUs on Amazon, all are AMD Ryzen chips.
Intel’s highest-seller is the i7-14700K, which comes in at number 13 on the list.
Intel recently came under fire for its high-end chips, which offer very unstable performance.
AMD has emerged as a solid contender especially when it comes to CPUs. While its dominance has been there for a lot of years, this time it has managed to completely obliterate Intel in terms of processor sales.
For context, all of Amazon’s top 10 best-selling CPUs are AMD. At number 13 is Intel, with its Core i7-14700K processor.
Why it matters: AMD has the best bang for the buck offerings. Additionally, their CPU performance has been stable compared to Intel’s. Therefore, we see AMD dominating the best-selling chart.
Amazon’s top 10 best-selling CPUs are all AMD.
Leading the best-sellers list is the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. While it is a last-gen chip, the performance that it offers at $170 is unmatched. Ryzen 5 5600X is also a very popular chip among the masses, again because of its good performance at an affordable price.
Interestingly, most of the top-selling chips are last-gen indicating how popular AMD’s Zen3 chips still are. Their 3D lineup of chips including the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 7 5700X3D, are also very popular as they are some of the best gaming chips on the market.
AMD is dominating the market that was once led by Intel CPUs
The market that was once dominated by Intel has seen a real decline in its sales. The highest Intel on the list is with its 14th-generation i7 chip. Notably, their budget offerings are very low on the list.
AMD’s new Ryzen 9000 chips are expected to distance the competition even more, especially after the recent fiasco with Intel’s new high-end chips, which saw them be highly unstable and result in various BSOD errors.
Nonetheless, this proves AMD has now a strong grip on the market especially when it comes to CPUs. The company has also significantly improved its software and drivers which used to be the biggest hassle before.
