After recent RE remakes like Resident Evil 4, the fandom has high hopes from Capcom regarding its next title. The next game in the franchise is going to be Resident Evil 9, which is rumored to bring back Leon and Jill. 

Without Leon, a Resident Evil game wouldn’t feel complete, so he should have a major role in the upcoming one. That said, a reliable leaker has recently revealed that the upcoming Resident Evil is going to be the most ambitious title in the franchise. 

Why it matters: Fans already had high expectations for the title, and this rumor will assure them that there isn’t much to worry about.

This rumor comes from Lunatic Ignus, who has proven to be accurate many times in the past. That makes him a reliable leaker, but we still would recommend taking it with a grain of salt. 

Ignus revealed that Resident Evil 9 is the most ambitious game in the series and is targeting a release window of 2025 H2.

There were some concerns regarding the game as it was going through an internal delay. However, Ignus has revealed that the game is not in a development hell right now. Capcom seems to be focusing a lot on this game, given that it is the main title of the series.

The developer managed to set a pretty high bar with the RE4 remake, which would be really difficult to surpass. Previously, it was revealed that Resident Evil 4 is the most ambitious remake, and it totally makes sense why.

Leaks in the past have pointed out that the game could feature an open world. So, the insider could be talking about the game being ambitious in terms of its scope. He also said that fans can expect a teaser in the coming weeks/months. 

There is also another rumor stating that Resident Evil 9 could be featured in the upcoming PlayStation State of Play.
