I’ve Started Recommending Used Parts For All PC Builds Now – Here’s Why

Story Highlight
  • You can build a beastly 1080p gaming PC for <$900 if you opt for used parts.
  • It’s always best to splurge on a brand new SSD and PSU as these are the two most sensitive PC components.
  • Beware of falling into the trap of buying overpriced used parts like the trending Ryzen 7 9800X3D or the RTX 50xx GPUs.

Let’s be real—building a gaming PC in 2025 is expensive. The PCMR is facing a mid-life crisis with all current generation GPUs from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel being subject to relentless scalping.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you assumed you’d need to spend at least $1,500 on a 1080p gaming PC.

But what if I told you that you could build a killer 1080p and maybe even a capable 1440p rig for half that price?

The secret? Buy used.

I’m not talking about some janky, decade-old hardware. I’m talking about last-gen CPUs and GPUs that still crush games, paired with smartly sourced components that won’t fail on you. Let me show you how to do it right.

The Heart Of The Build: Used CPUs That Still Dominate

Ryzen 7 7800X3D – The Used Gaming King

Forget the brand-new 9800X3D—unless you absolutely need the latest and greatest CPU for gaming the 7800X3D is still a beast for gaming.

If you're looking for the best used parts to build a 1080p gaming PC, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D should be at the top of your list.

It trades blows with Intel’s best in most titles, and thanks to that 3D V-Cache (total of 96 MB of L3 cache), it’s still one of the fastest gaming CPUs you can buy—used for under $350.

The fact that you can easily pick up a competent B550 motherboard for barely $100 is the icing on the cake.

Intel Core i5-13600K – The Efficiency Monster

If you’re Team Blue, the i5-13600K is a used-market steal. It’s faster than a stock 12900K in games, sips power compared to older Intel chips, and can be found for under $150 if you hunt. Hell, it ships brand new for just $25 more.

Pair it with one of the best B660 boards, and you’ve got a rig that’ll last years.

Why buy new when last year’s chips are this good?

2. GPUs: Where The Real Savings Happen

RTX 3060 – The 1080p Sweet Spot ($175-$225 Used)

Yes, the RTX 4060 exists, but why pay $400 when a used RTX 3060 delivers 90% of the performance for half the price? With 12 GB of VRAM, it’s even more future-proof than the 8 GB RTX 4060. Trust me, the RTX 3060 is still a great GPU to be using in 2025.

RTX 3070 – 1440p On A Budget ($250-$300 Used)

The 3070 is a monster for 1440p gaming. Sure, the 8 GB VRAM stings in some newer games, but DLSS helps, and at $250-ish used for the higher-end triple fan variants, it’s a steal compared to the RTX 4070 that’s still being scalped for more than $550.

RTX 3080 – The Used High-End Champion ($375-$425 Used)

If you want near-4070 Ti performance without the $800 price tag, the RTX 3080 is your best bet. It chews through 1440p and even handles 4K at medium settings.

Just make sure you get a beefed-up model with vamped-up cooling (preferably the triple fan variants)—some of the early ones ran hot.

Pro Tip: Avoid ex-mining GPUs unless they were well-maintained (repasted, undervolted).

3. What Used Parts You Should NEVER Buy

SSDs – Just Spend The $50

Storage is cheap, and SSDs do wear out over time. A brand-new 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD costs $40-$50.

Why risk a used drive that might die in a year or two? Never cheap out on storage.

Power Supplies – Be Careful

I’ll get flak for this, but used PSUs can be fine—if they’re from a reputable brand (Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic) and not ancient.

Look for 80+ Gold units with at least a 5-year warranty remaining.

Avoid: No-name PSUs or anything that’s been used for mining 24/7.

Nevertheless, when it comes to PSUs, I’m a sucker for buying brand new. Then again, please don’t think I’m suggesting the notoriously self-exploding Gigabyte PSUs.

4. The Best Used Deals Nobody Talks About

Motherboards – The Backbone (But Be Picky)

A used B550 (AMD) or B660/Z690 (Intel) board can be snagged for $80-$120. Just make sure:

  • There are no bent pins.
  • The BIOS is updated (for CPU compatibility).
  • All slots work (test before buying).

RAM – DDR4 is Dirt Cheap Used

DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz kits sell for $20-$30 used. RAM rarely fails, that’s why manufacturers love to market their lifelong warranties.

Nevertheless, just run MemTest86 to be safe.

CPU Coolers – Why Pay Retail?

A Noctua NH-D15 is $100 new, but you can find them for $50 used. Air coolers don’t wear out so quickly—just clean the dust off and reapply the thermal paste.

NOCTUA NH-D15S Chromax.Black in PC

PC Cases – Literally Just Metal Boxes

Why spend $150 on a new case when a used Fractal Meshify or Lian Li PC-O11 goes for $50-75? Just wipe it down with a microfibre cloth and you’ll be good to go.

My Thought Process Behind Recommending PCs With Used Parts

I’m sure you’re wondering why I didn’t recommend a single AMD or Intel GPU. While the RX 6700 XT ($300 to $350 used) and RX 7700 XT ($400 to $500 used) are high-performance GPUs, I believe their Nvidia counterparts, such as the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, offer superior performance for less money.

I also want to give a special shoutout to the Intel Arc B580, which slightly outperforms the RTX 3060 and comes with newer firmware, making it more future-proof. However, the Arc B580 is nearly impossible to find at its original price, as scalpers have inflated it to over $400, making it a tough purchase compared to a used RTX 3080 at the same price.

Just Cause 5 Has Reportedly Been Scrapped Mid Development

Story Highlight
  • Just Cause 4 was released in 2018, and since then, we haven’t seen another title in the franchise.
  • A LinkedIn profile reveals that the sequel to Just Cause 4 was in development but got scrapped.
  • The game was supposedly in development for just a little over two years before the cancellation.

Just Cause is one of the most renowned franchises in the gaming industry, but we haven’t seen another title in the series for a while now. The last game in the franchise was released seven years ago, in 2018, and fans have long wondered whether they will receive a new one

New evidence has confirmed the existence of Just Cause 5, but unfortunately, the game appears to have been scrapped during its mid-development stage.

Why it matters: Fans would have loved to get another iteration in the Just Cause franchise that goes back to the roots, but they won’t get to see one now.

Just Cause 5 Development
As Per A LinkedIn Profile, A 5th Entry In The Just Cause Franchise Was In the Works But Eventually Got Cancelled.

Mp1st discovered the LinkedIn profile of a former Sumo Digital employee who had served as the Vehicles Feature Team Lead. He worked on the game from 2021 to 2023. His profile explicitly states that he was the Vehicles Feature Team Lead for Just Cause 5, which has now been cancelled.

It is worth noting that Avalanche Studios has always developed a Just Cause game, and if you are familiar with the franchise, you would know how bad the reception was of the last game in the franchise. So, it is possible that Square Enix outsourced the development to Sumo Digital for a potential new start.

A job listing from 2021 confirms that Sumo Digital was working on an AAA game based on an established IP, which was most likely the fifth title in the Just Cause franchise. As of now, we can’t tell whether the franchise has a future.

There is no information on why the project was cancelled and whether it was continued by a different developer. There are just too many questions, but at least the franchise isn’t totally dead. A Just Cause movie is in development, so if it receives a positive reception, we might get to see more games in the future.

What do you think about the cancellation of Just Cause 5 mid-development? Do you think there will be another iteration in the Just Cause franchise? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion

Ex-Rockstar Devs’ Mindseye Flops At Launch With 3.3K Concurrent Players, Mostly Negative Reviews

Story Highlight
  • Mindseye, a project by former Rockstar devs, has finally been released.
  • The game is being considered a flop, with mostly negative reviews on Steam and a peak player count of only 3.3k.
  • Players complain about the lack of optimisation, bugs, and poor gameplay mechanics.

After all the commotion in these past few months, Mindseye has finally launched. Despite having former GTA producer and other Rockstar executives at the helm, Mindseye has flopped in just a day of its release.

The cinematic blockbuster launched with only a mere 3.3k concurrent players on Steam, with primarily negative reviews.

Why it matters: Mindseye was looking to be the next big action-adventure game after GTA. However, the game has failed terribly despite having IO Interactive as a publisher backing it.

Mindseye, A Project By Former GTA Producer, Launches To An Underwhelming Player Count on Steam

The majority of game reviews complain about the unfinished state of the game, which is currently unplayable for some and plagued by bugs and other issues. The majority of gamers are drawing comparisons to Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Unity’s broken releases.

Even aside from this messy release, core gameplay mechanics are being criticized, including driving and shooting that feel unsatisfying. Moreover, the voice acting is subpar and fails to do justice to the game’s story, which is the only aspect of the title that receives praise, according to the reviews.

Mindseye was on track to failure, especially given all the factors that went wrong during its development. Former Build a Rocket Boy devs also complain that the studio is a terrible place to work.

Mindseye Players Are Not Happy, As Per The Steam Reviews

Beyond that, the studio’s chief legal officer and chief financial officer also departed the team around a week ago, following the game’s release, which was a major red flag.

Shady marketing, with no review copies being handed out to the press before release, implied that the game was not in a condition for release. Had it been a polished release with proper playtests, Mindseye would’ve launched to a completely different state.

Have you played Mindseye yet? What are your impressions of the game so far? Let us know in the comments below or at the official Tech4Gamers Forums.

Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 Has Much Better Image Quality Than on Xbox Series X

Story Highlight
  • A new analysis revealed that Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 has better image quality than on Xbox Series X.
  • In quality mode, the former offers 28% better image quality, and in performance mode, there is a 55% difference.
  • This shows that Square Enix released an unoptimised port on the Xbox consoles.

Final Fantasy 16 was initially launched as a PlayStation exclusive, which significantly impacted the game’s sales. The developers have revealed on multiple occasions that the game underperformed mainly because of the deal with the PlayStation, which makes sense given that a single platform alone can’t account for millions of sales.

The game was released on PC last year and finally arrived on Xbox on June 8. However, it seems the developer didn’t put in much effort on the port and simply released an unpolished one. Due to that, Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 has much better image quality than on the Xbox Series X.

Why it matters: The developers had enough time to release a polished version on both the PC and Xbox, but didn’t do so, which will again hurt the game’s sales.

PS5 Vs Xbox FF16
FF16 on PS5 Offers 28% Better Image Quality Than Series X.

RGamerB_ on Twitter revealed the difference in the Final Fantasy 16 image quality on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The quality mode on the PS5 offers 3,686,400 pixels, while the Xbox Series X offers 2,663,424 pixels. This means that on the former, there is a 28% advantage in image quality.

The performance mode on the PS5 offers 2,073,600 pixels, while the Xbox Series X offers only 921,600 pixels, resulting in a 55% image quality advantage for the PlayStation 5, which is simply not acceptable.

The platform isn’t to blame here, as the Series X has been proven to feature significantly better hardware.

PS5 Vs Xbox Final Fantasy 16
Final Fantasy 16 on PS5 Has Significantly Better Image Quality Than The Xbox Series X.

Square Enix didn’t even optimise the title for the PC, as players didn’t think it was worth buying after playing the demo. The game did improve, but it was still far from ideal

It is also worth noting that the game’s performance on PlayStation 5 at release was also abysmal. It was also overheating many PS5s, and the combat area was eating frames like they were nothing.

So, the significant difference in image quality between the Series X and PS5 isn’t the fault of the platform, but rather the developer.

What do you think about the PS5 offering up to 55% better image quality than the Xbox Series X in Final Fantasy 16? Do you think it is fair for the developer to release such a port? Days Gone Developer Bend Studio Lays Off 30% Staff After Cancelled Live-Service Project

Story Highlight
  • Bend Studios, known best for making Days Gone, has laid off 30% of its staff following a cancelled live-service project earlier this year.
  • The developers have now begun working on a new project, but details about it are currently unknown.
  • It’s implausible for a new Days Gone title to be underway as the studio itself cancelled the sequel.

While PlayStation was best known for its approach towards cinematic single-player games, its focus has changed significantly during this console generation. Like every other publisher, PlayStation is committed to developing live-service games, which is the most disliked video game model in the industry.

Their live-service gamble didn’t work too well and backfired significantly. Among the six live-service games cancelled by Sony earlier this year, Bend Studios was developing one title. Now, the studio has decided to cut down its workforce by 30%.

Why it matters: PlayStation has some great talent under its helm, but the gaming giant has continuously failed to utilise their true potential. Back-to-back cancellations and layoffs have severely impacted the developers’ morale and deprived gamers of some great titles.

Sony's Bend studio, which canceled a live-service game earlier this year, is laying off 30% of staff today (around 40 people), Bloomberg News has learned. The studio has been spinning up a new project following the cancellation.

Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier.bsky.social) 2025-06-10T18:12:01.815Z

This report comes from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who reported that 40 people were affected by this layoff. While Bend Studios is a small team under PlayStation, their talent can’t be undermined, having made one of the best third-person open-world games for the last-gen.

Schreier confirmed that Bluepoint Games isn’t affected by layoffs and Bend Studios is the only casualty. Bluepoint Games, known for developing remakes and remasters, is working on a new unannounced title, which seems to be progressing well.

PlayStation Layoffs
Layoffs In The Gaming Industry Are At A Historic High, And No Studio Is Prone To This Effect

Beyond this, Bend Studios has begun working on a new title, although details about it are currently unknown. They recently released a remastered version of Days Gone, and remastering games is a practice common among Sony studios to gather sufficient financial resources before commencing a new project.

It’s highly unlikely that Bend Studios will work on a new Days Gone entry. A sequel was once in development but shelved by the studio itself. However, they’re still prevalent on making ‘cool sh*t‘ as per the studio’s community manager.

The Witcher 4 Port For Switch 2 Possible Following Latest Demo, Believe Analysts

Story Highlight
  • The Witcher 4 tech demo from CDPR ran at 60FPS on a base PS5.
  • Analysts believe this could be a good sign for a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port in the future.
  • This version of the game would come with heavily toned-down graphics if it were to come to fruition.

The Witcher 4’s latest tech demo turned heads worldwide as many were left in awe at CDPR’s technical showcase, which somehow ran on a base PS5 at 60FPS. This also led to questions about how the game would fare on weaker hardware.

With CDPR developing a solid reputation for its optimization and recently releasing Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2, fans have begun to question whether the team would be able to do the same for The Witcher 4. According to analysts, a Nintendo Switch 2 port certainly seems within the realm of possibility.

Why it matters: The Witcher 3 was previously released on the Nintendo Switch, and many considered it to be an impossible port. Fans are curious whether history will repeat itself.

The analysts at Digital Foundry believe that it is difficult to say anything for sure, but The Witcher 4 could be possible on the Nintendo Switch 2.

They argue that because the tech demo ran at 60FPS on the PS5, a 30FPS conversion for the Nintendo Switch 2 could be possible. Of course, this would require heavily dialed-down or non-existent ray tracing among other graphically intensive elements.

Previously, the likes of Doom Eternal were ported to the Nintendo Switch in a similar manner. These games were effectively the same as their home console counterparts, but ran at 30FPS with significantly worse graphical quality.

Therefore, Digital Foundry believes the same could be the case for The Witcher 4.

The Witcher 4 Ciri
Ciri’s Model Looks Very Detailed In The Latest Tech Demo

It is worth noting that Unreal Engine 5 elements, such as Lumen, have yet to be tested on Nintendo’s latest hardware. Therefore, there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding a game like The Witcher 4.

Fortnite, which recently received a major Unreal Engine 5 overhaul for the console, does not make use of this feature, but future ports could serve as an indication of how well the Nintendo Switch 2 handles Lumen and other modern technologies.

Do you believe CDPR will be able to get its upcoming RPG working on Nintendo’s console once again? Feel free to discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Microsoft Now Advertises PS5 As Official Way To Play Xbox

Story Highlight
  • Xbox now openly advertises the PS5 as a platform for its biggest titles.
  • This is part of the gaming giants ‘Everything is an Xbox’ push.
  • Fans can also expect to see the Nintendo Switch 2 included in these marketing efforts in the future.

The Xbox business has undergone significant changes over the last year and a half. Following a few odd releases, the gaming giant has gone fully third-party, and its new motto says that everything is an Xbox.

Naturally, this has led to the ‘Xbox Play Anywhere’ program becoming even more important, and Microsoft has even begun to include PlayStation in this marketing campaign. The gaming giant now officially advertises the PS5 as a platform for its biggest games.

Why it matters: Console manufacturers typically avoid mentioning rival platforms, even when games are available everywhere. Therefore, this shift from Microsoft is a significant departure from the industry’s norms.

Xbox Ways To Play
Ways To Play Games via Xbox

As seen above, Xbox now officially mentions PlayStation in the ‘Ways To Play’ section of its first-party titles. The image above is taken from Doom: The Dark Ages’ store page, but other games follow the same format.

Of course, this does not apply to games that have yet to launch on the PS5, but PlayStation’s name standing alongside Steam’s suggests that Microsoft is now giving Sony’s platform the same importance that Valve’s platform first received over a decade ago.

Although Microsoft does not explicitly market the PS5 as an Xbox, it’s clear that the gaming giant believes this is the case. At the time of writing, major future releases like Gears of War: Reloaded have already been confirmed for PlayStation consoles.

Fans can also expect Halo and other signature IPs to launch on the platform moving forward, so it makes sense that Microsoft would advertise PlayStation as an official platform for Xbox’s content library.

PS5 Controller
The PS5 Is Now Part of Xbox’s Ecosystem

Because PlayStation’s general audience is so much larger, Xbox’s decision to appeal to that audience seems like a no-brainer. However, it remains to be seen how things will ultimately turn out.

Also, fans should expect Xbox to reference the Nintendo Switch 2 in a similar manner as it extends third-party support to Nintendo’s hardware in the coming years.

What do you think about Xbox’s new outlook on PlayStation and its competition? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Base ROG Xbox Ally Uses Same SoC As 3 Year Old Steam Deck

Story Highlight
  • The ROG Xbox Ally is set to feature the Ryzen Z2A APU.
  • New findings reveal that this APU is practically identical to the Steam Deck’s Aerith SoC.
  • Both handhelds should perform similarly, falling behind the original ROG Ally from 2023.

Microsoft officially confirmed the ROG Xbox Ally, its first gaming handheld last week, revealing a device that would play everything, including PlayStation’s first-party titles. Exceeding expectations, the gaming giant announced two handhelds, with the base model relying on the all-new Ryzen Z2A SoC.

However, this SoC seems brand new in name only. AMD has confirmed it relies on the Zen 2 and RDNA 2 architectures for the CPU and GPU, and new findings reveal that this SoC is a refreshed version of the same chip powering the Steam Deck.

Why it matters: The Steam Deck is now three years old and was first shown off in 2021. This means that Xbox’s latest gaming handheld utilizes hardware that is more than four years old.

AMD Ryzen Z2A
Ryzen Z2A ID via AMD

As reported on X, AMD’s recently shared ID for the Ryzen Z2A SoC matches previously leaked shipping manifests that mentioned the same code for the Aerith Plus SoC. This is so interesting because the Steam Deck’s SoC was codenamed AMD Aerith.

The “Plus” indicates that the Ryzen Z2A features an upgraded variant of this SoC, but a look into the specs reveals the same 4 core/ 8 thread CPU and 8 RDNA2 CU GPU setup as the Steam Deck’s Aerith chip.

One key difference is that the Aerith Plus chip can now be pushed to 20W of power as opposed to the 15W limit of the Steam Deck’s APU. Everything else, including the memory bandwidth, appear to be identical between the two handhelds.

This should lead to the Steam Deck and the ROG Xbox Ally performing similarly in most scenarios. Interestingly, the ROG Xbox Ally might even fall behind the original ROG Ally, which featured a 12 RDNA 3 CU GPU and an 8 core/ 16 thread Zen 4 CPU in 2023.

Rog Xbox Ally
The ROG Xbox Ally X Should Be Much More Powerful Than Other Handhelds On The Market

The silver lining in this scenario might be the price. Because Microsoft and Asus seem to have deliberately kept the hardware in the base ROG Xbox Ally modest, this handheld might be affordable than some may expect.

What are your thoughts on these details? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Lollipop Chainsaw Game Designer Speaks Against Censoring Games, Says It Damages Every Core of Work

Story Highlight
  • Many famous figures, including the Resident Evil creator, have spoken against the censorship of video games.
  • Now, the game designer of Lollipop Chainsaw has said that he is against censoring games.
  • He thinks censoring a game damages the core of the work, which is unacceptable.

Censorship has become a major issue in the gaming industry, with the majority being strongly opposed to it. Many developers, including Capcom (Resident Evil is still safe), have been involved in such acts, and it just angers the fandom.

On many occasions, gamers have condemned the act of censorship, but developers seem not to listen, apparently due to a political agenda that has also infiltrated video games. Despite many following this trend, the game designer of Lollipop Chainsaw has spoken out against censorship, arguing that it ruins the game.

Why it matters: Censorship of video games is never welcomed, and perhaps only a small, very small portion of the community, namely the modern audience, prefers them. So, it doesn’t make sense to censor the games just for a tiny fragment of gamers who may not even play them.

Lollipop Chainsaw Censorship
The Game Designer of Lollipop Chainsaw, Yoshimi Yasuda, is Highly Against Censorship | Source: X

Yoshimi Yasuda, the game designer of Lollipop Chainsaw, has spoken against censoring video games in a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter. He explained how the team committed to remaking the game without censoring anything, not just because of the fandom, but because the original game had that look.

Censoring any of these elements would damage the very core of the work we set out to create, and that is something I can never accept.

-Yoshimi Yasuda

If a game wasn’t planned to be censored when it was revealed to the public, then the developers should never allow anyone to force them to censor their video games before the release. The same goes for the remakes.

However, Capcom fails to understand this and censored the remaster of Onimusha 2, which, according to reports, occurred because the company’s localisation team in Japan has been staffed by Western activists. The developer didn’t listen to the fandom, and the game flopped very hard.

The developers and publishers should now be aware that the fandom is opposed to censorship, and they are the primary audience of the game

Halo Is The Next Xbox Franchise Headed To PlayStation, As Per A New Datamine Leak

Story Highlight
  • A dataminer has found Halo on the Retail API for PlayStation, implying that the FPS is headed towards another major platform.
  • Currently, there is no sign of a Switch 2 release in the API.
  • Xbox boss recently teased a Halo Combat Evolved Remake for 2026, with a proper reveal coming later this year. A PS5 announcement is also expected by then.

With Xbox’s multiplatform strategy, many first-party titles were expected to head towards PlayStation. However, nobody expected key IPs such as Gears of War and Forza Horizon to join the catalogue of games headed to the rival platform.

To complete the trio of major Xbox IPs, a datamine leak suggests that Halo is the next IP headed to PlayStation.

Why it matters: With the three major Xbox IPs now on PlayStation, gamers are wondering why they should even buy an Xbox console in the first place. It seems that Microsoft’s console strategy is no longer feasible for them.

Dataminer Confirms Halo Coming To PS5 On Social Media

Grunt.API is a famous account known for posting Halo-related content. Recently, he came across an interesting discovery while datamining.

Halo was listed as an API evidence, suggesting that a PlayStation port is underway. Currently, there is no word on a Switch 2 port, even if the handheld is capable of handling AAA titles.

Although it is not confirmed which Halo title this datamine refers to, Phil Spencer recently teased a Halo: Combat Evolved Remake for next year, marking the franchise’s 20th anniversary.

A full-fledged reveal is expected by the end of this year during Fall, as per a reliable leaker. The franchise is expected to witness new beginnings after the failure of Halo Infinite.

Xbox Appears To Have Quietly Stopped Selling Physical Game Discs

Story Highlight
  • Xbox appears to have discontinued selling physical discs of video games.
  • A video game store recently mentioned not selling Xbox versions because, instead of discs, they contained codes.
  • So, only the PlayStation 5 version of those would consist of actual discs.

From what we have seen in the last couple of years, things have been pretty rough for Xbox. The competitor that was in the PS3 era is just no longer there. Due to that, the upper echelons at Microsoft decided to make it a subscription-based model, which seems to be working, so far, at least.

However, it isn’t working that well, as Game Pass subscribers aren’t increasing in massive numbers. In spite of that, the company has made a pretty weird move. It seems Xbox has given up on the physical game discs, too.

Why it matters: Many companies are focusing on promoting digital games exclusively, as this is more beneficial to them. However, physical games are more beneficial to the users as they can sell a game after playing or collect them.

VGP Selling Microsoft Games
VGP Is Selling Physical Microsoft Games For PS5 Only | Source: VGP

Ninja Gaiden 4, Outer Worlds 2, and Gears of War Reloaded, all three of these games will have physical discs on the PlayStation 5, but they won’t have one on the Xbox Series S|X. Instead of a disc, there will be a code inside the box, which has angered the fandom.

VGP has confirmed that it will not carry the Xbox Deluxe version of these games; they are just codes in the box. Xbox seems to be making a really bad decision here, as the situation is becoming controversial

Code in the box is crazy. If i want digital then ill buy from the digital store. If i want physical i want a cartridge or a disc in the case period.

So, if you have a PlayStation 5, then you have a disc of any of these three games. If you are on an Xbox and want to obtain the discs, you may not get your hands on one.

Microsoft has not commented on this matter, so it is best to wait for the company to address this issue. What do you think about this whole situation? Do you think Microsoft intentionally did this, or was it a mistake? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion.

Fable Not Appearing At Xbox Games Showcase Has Raised Many Eyebrows

Story Highlight
  • One of the most anticipated games didn’t appear at the Xbox Games Showcase.
  • While the showcase was pretty decent, the fandom was expecting Fable to be one of the big reveals.
  • The game is set to release next, so we may get some new information soon.

Xbox Games Showcase delivered, and there is no question about it. Fans collectively agree that it was way better than PlayStation State of Play and Summer Games Fest, as both underperformed.

While the showcase was pretty decent and featured many cool games, there were some fans who weren’t completely satisfied. That is because Fable didn’t make an appearance, and given that it is old, the demand for it was very high. Fable’s absence at the showcase has raised many eyebrows

Why it matters: Xbox Games Showcase featured many good releases, but the fandom wanted to see more about Fable, as it has a 2026 release window

While not the whole fandom can be pleased with such events, many were expecting Fable to appear during the Xbox Games Showcase. The game is insanely hyped, and that is exactly why many fans were left disappointed. They were so angry that the showcase was closed with a game like Black Ops 7.

I can’t believe this is what they closed the showcase with. Not a new Halo, not Fable, not E-Day. CoD…

Two big games that were missing from today’s XBOX showcase. I wonder when we will hear more about Fable and State of Decay 3?

All they did was name drop Fable with no release date, no update and no gameplay.

Fable Is One of The Most Hyped Games of 2026

Closing the show with a Call of Duty game is indeed lacklustre when there are games like Fable, State of Decay 3, and Halo Remake. It seems fair for the fandom to be angry at this, as Fable is a big game, and its reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase would have mattered a lot

However, most of the fadom seems pleased with the overall showcase, but the concern remains. The game is set to release in 2026, as confirmed by Phil Spencer, so we may see or hear more about it soon.
