MindsEye Officially Being Refunded On PlayStation As Players Compare It To Launch Cyberpunk 2077

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation has officially begun to refund MindsEye.
  • The gaming giant acknowledged technical problems with the game and could even remove it from the PlayStation Store.
  • Similar steps were previously taken for Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020.

MindsEye created plenty of discourse after its initial reveal and recent previews. Although the game never looked too great, it had the talent of Leslie Benzies behind it, leading to some hope within the fandom.

At release, MindsEye failed to gain any traction and was reviewed negatively. Players continued to complain about technical hitches and various performance issues, and it seems PlayStation has now begun to refund the game.

Why it matters: PlayStation is famous for not being too friendly when it comes to refunds. The fact that the gaming giant has agreed to refunds illustrates how serious the matter is.

MindsEye Refund on PlayStation
Reddit User Shares Chat With PlayStation Support

As shared on Reddit, user u/MasterofMoogles1995 was able to secure a refund from PlayStation with relative ease.

The user has even shared a screenshot of the conversation with PlayStation Support, where the representative acknowledged MindsEye’s technical problems and promised to investigate the matter further.

Another refund report showed up on X, so PlayStation appears to be refunding users without any exceptions. It will be interesting to see how the next few days turn out for MindsEye because the game seems to have found itself in the same position as Cyberpunk 2077.

CDPR’s RPG was refunded much the same in 2020, but it was also delisted from PlayStation later. Because this was such a rare case, MindsEye has joined the small list of poor releases PlayStation deems worthy of an instant refund.

MindsEye Has Disappointed In Every Way Possible

Still, it remains to be seen if Build a Rocket Boy’s debut action game will go through a similar fate later this month.

Stellar Blade Launches To 168K Concurrent Players on Steam, a PlayStation PC Port Record

Story Highlight
  • Stellar Blade has hit a concurrent peak of 168K players on Steam, the highest amount for a PlayStation PC port.
  • The game surpassed God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, and Marvel’s Spider-Man to achieve this record.
  • A sequel to the game has been confirmed.

Since its release last year, Stellar Blade has become a fan favorite in the gaming world, achieving financial success for Shift Up and garnering critical acclaim along the way. Hence, it was no surprise when the PC release of the RPG was met with high anticipation from fans.

Stellar Blade’s PC port had to overcome issues such as region locking. Still, it finally launched on June 11th without any problems and achieved a record-breaking total of concurrent players for a PlayStation title on Steam.

Why it matters: Stellar Blade achieving these numbers without a region lock shows how PlayStation should follow this strategy with future releases.

Stellar Blade Steam
Stellar Blade has hit the ground running on Steam.

After its release on Steam, Stellar Blade has peaked at 168K concurrent players on the platform, the highest number of any PlayStation title on PC. In addition, the game has also attracted more players than behemoths like God of War, The Last of Us, and Marvel Spider-Man.

The Shift Up title beat the highly acclaimed Ghost of Tshusima, which peaked at 77K users, to attain this position. Now, Stellar Blade has nearly double the player count peak of Ghost of Tsushima, which is crazy.

To achieve this success, however, Stellar Blade’s PC port has had to navigate a lot of controversy, including the infamous region lock, which affected 132 countries. But PlayStation worked with Shift Up to resolve this issue, which is partly the reason the game has performed so much better than other PlayStation titles.

stellar blade dlss 4 frame gen on rtx 5090 350 fps 4k
Stellar Blade’s PC port was highly anticipated.

Overall, even issues like Denuvo did not affect the RPG’s performance, with the game running better with it, and Stellar Blade has matched Shift Up’s expectations for the PC port.

The IP has also made Shift Up a force to be reckoned with, generating significant revenue and allowing the developer to focus on new IPs. With a sequel already in the works, Stellar Blade isn’t going away anytime soon.

The Witcher 3 Reportedly Getting A Third Expansion In 2026

Story Highlight
  • The Witcher 3 is set to receive its third DLC expansion sometime next year, as per Polish podcasters Rock and Boris.
  • The expansion is being worked on by Fool’s Theory, which is currently also developing The Witcher 1’s remake.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 is also set to get another update this year, which will be developed by Virtuos Games.

It took a third time for CDPR to nail the perfect RPG formula. The Witcher 3 has cemented the Polish developers as one of the greatest in the industry.

Released over a decade ago, The Witcher 3 had several second comings with DLC expansions and the next-gen update. However, the studio isn’t done with the RPG completely, according to a new report that suggests the game is set to receive its third DLC expansion sometime in 2026.

Why it matters: It’s not typical for a game to receive a new DLC expansion more than a decade after its release. CDPR may have something special for fans with this new update.

Famous Polish podcasters Rock and Boris make this claim. According to them, the expansion is being developed by Fool’s Theory, the same studio that is currently tasked with Witcher 1’s Remake.

According to the podcasters, this leak has been corroborated by multiple sources.

It’s completely unclear what this expansion will be about or when it will be released, aside from the tentative 2026 release.

Further into the podcast, it was revealed that CDPR’s roadmap includes releasing mod support for The Witcher 3, a new DLC for The Witcher 3, The Witcher 4, followed by a remake of The Witcher 1.

If anything, we can expect this DLC to have a short storyline that will tie into Witcher 4’s storyline. It could follow young Ciri’s journey into becoming a seasoned Witcher. However, anything at this point is just mere speculation.

CDPR is also working on a new update for Cyberpunk 2077 despite the multiple previous statements that they were done with the game. The update is being developed by Virtuous Games, with more details expected soon.

Capcom Thinks $80 Pricing of New Titles is Appropriate But Doesn’t Aim To Follow Trend

Story Highlight
  • Nintendo and Xbox recently increased the prices of their games to $80.
  • Nintendo released Mario Kart World for $80, and Xbox announced Outer Worlds 2 to be the first title costing this much money.
  • Capcom thinks that this pricing is appropriate, but doesn’t aim to follow the trend.

Nintendo and Xbox recently increased the prices of their consoles to $80. The former said that every single game (Nintendo first-party ones) that will be released to Switch 2 would cost $80. The latter also followed the trend and announced its first $80 game: Outer Worlds 2

This attracted huge controversy, as the fandom doesn’t think it’s worth paying this much money for a game. This also gives the other publishers a chance to increase the prices of their upcoming games, as two of the giants have already done so. While Capcom thinks the pricing of $80 is appropriate, it doesn’t aim to increase the prices of its games.

Why it matters: The $70 pricing of games was already so controversial, and now the $80 may become the norm soon, which is exactly why the fandom appreciates publishers like Capcom not giving in to the trend.

Capcom Aims To Remain Flexible In Pricing Its Games

Capcom has recently shared the question-and-answer summary from its financial results briefing. The company was asked, “What is Capcom’s view on the current industry pricing standards of new titles and the outlook going forward?”

Considering all the factors related to development costs, such as adapting to cutting-edge technology and labor costs, as well as the total playtime offered by each title, we believe that the current pricing of new titles is appropriate. However, we remain flexible in considering our approach to pricing.

-Capcom Replied

The gaming giant believes that the $80 price of new titles is appropriate, a stance that may not be shared by the fandom. However, it remains flexible on pricing its upcoming games

Xbox Has Received A Lot of Hate For Pricing Outer Worlds 2 at $80

Dragon’s Dogma 2 was Capcom’s first ever $70 game, and the company received a lot of heat because of this. While the game was generally solid, it received mixed reactions from the fandom, mainly due to performance issues

Therefore, it would be prudent for the company not to follow the trend and maintain the games’ current price of $70 for now.

What do you think about the new $80 games? Do you think it is justified for the games to cost this much money? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion

Why You Should Always Keep Software On Hand For Data Recovery

Story Highlight
  • Data is so important to everyday life that losing it can be devastating.
  • Everyone needs to learn how to secure important files and what to do if they are lost.
  • Relying on popular software for data recovery can be an effective method of regaining access to lost files in a matter of a few minutes.

Data is arguably the most crucial component of our daily lives today, and losing essential data, whether it be text documents, photos, or videos, can be a real problem. Although this can be a stressful situation, there is always hope for a happy ending.

Relying on tried-and-tested methods can help you recover important files, making it crucial to know what to do in such a situation.

Why it matters: Data loss is more common than one might think, so planning ahead for the future is of the utmost importance.

Types of Data Loss

Hard Drives Can Hold Millions of Files At A TIme

Data loss can result from two main types of failures. Logical failure effectively means that files were deleted for one reason or another and no longer show up. This is still not the worst-case scenario since the storage medium itself still works.

On the other hand, physical failure requires a professional to deal with. This occurs when a drive no longer powers on or makes unusual noises, such as clicking or grinding. In any case, troubleshooting to identify the type of data loss is essential to avoid potential mishaps.

Troubleshooting The Problem

The usual steps to troubleshoot a problematic hard drive include trying different USB cables, connecting the hard drive to a different computer, and more. These can often help determine whether the hard drive itself is faulty.

Listening for sounds like clicking is also important since these can be surefire signs of a hardware problem. Anyhow, it is best to avoid formatting the drive until this is absolutely necessary.

DIY Recovery

Data Recovery Software Are Usually Quite Intuitive

If the problem is limited to just data loss, using tools like Stellar Windows Data Recovery can be enough to recover lost files.

Using such software is typically as simple as installing and following the on-screen instructions. Upon selecting the specific drive partition, the software scans for lost files and does the rest on its own.

Hard Drive Data Recovery
The Software Lets You Pick What To Scan

However, it is still necessary to take a few precautions. Keeping the recovered file in a different partition, cloning drives before formatting, and more are a few tips that can make this process even more seamless. Anyhow, the following steps need to be followed for smooth recovery:

  1. Download and install the software on a different drive (not the same drive you’re recovering data from.
  2. Connect the drive to your system.
  3. Open the software and select the type of data you want to recover, including photos, documents, and videos.
  4. Select your external hard drive from the selection list.
  5. Scan to let the software find recoverable files.
  6. Preview and recover the files to a safe location.

Finding Old Files Is A Breeze Thanks To The Software

Avoiding Data Loss In The Future

Although it’s great to have useful tools that can recover data when needed, prevention is always best in such matters.

Taking precautions, such as backing up data and using different storage mediums, can significantly reduce the odds of data loss. Taking care of hard drives by monitoring health and investing in surge protectors or good-quality cables can be equally useful in such situations.

Because such problems can show up at any moment, it’s always best to have a backup plan. Using software designed specifically for this purpose is essential, but so is backing up files and maintaining healthy storage drives.

Knowing what to do and what not to do can make a huge difference, so it’s always best to research as much as possible before attempting to tackle a situation like this.

Pragmata Previews Receive Strong Praise, With Reviewers Calling The Delays Worthwhile

Story Highlight
  • Pragmata has finally been given a new release date of 2026, following a four-year delay.
  • Capcom showcased the gameplay to a select group of people, and the impressions thus far have been positive.
  • Pragmata features a hacking mini-game, different weaponry, fluid movement, and more, offering a unique gameplay experience.

First unveiled all the way back in 2020, with a release for 2022, Pragmata practically vanished from Capcom’s release slate.

Fast forward to 2025, Capcom dropped a gameplay trailer for the sci-fi title at the recent Summer Game Fest. It seems that the game is now finally ready for release, as the developer invited a few media outlets to check out the game for themselves in a closed presentation.

The early impressions for Pragmata are quite surprising, offering a fresh and unique take on the sci-fi genre, with hacking serving as a distinct mini-game.

Why it matters: For a title to be delayed by this margin is never an indication of good things. However, unlike most titles, Pragmata was able to bounce back from this setback and is looking to be a significant highlight in Capcom’s 2026 releases.

Pragmata pits the lead protagonist, Hugh Williams, who is an astronaut, against hostile AI robots after a space mission goes wrong. Fighting as an astronaut against hostile robots would be pretty tricky, unless you have backup of your own.

This is where Diana comes into play, a humanoid robot who rides on Williams’ back. Players can control the android and hack enemy robots to expose their internal circuitry, allowing Williams to finish them off.

The hacking side game runs in parallel with shooting as a mini-game, appearing on the right side of the screen.

Gunplay being a core part of the gameplay is incredibly satisfying, as per the previews. Among the weaponry for Hugh is a standard pistol called a Grip Gun, a shotgun-like Shockwave Gun, and the Statis Net to trap enemies.

Movement is absolutely solid, and Hugh has some weight feel on it, but can still glide and jump around objects, quickly manoeuvring away from enemies. Moreover, puzzles are another major aspect of the game, granting access to hidden areas.

Resident Evil Requiem Previews Extremely Positive: A Solid Return To Survival Horror Roots

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem’s first previews are here, and they suggest a return to the series’ survival roots.
  • The game targets photorealistic graphics and brings new gameplay and stealth mechanics.
  • Both first-person and third-person POVs are supported for gameplay.

The standout for this year’s Summer Game Fest was Resident Evil Requiem, the long-awaited new entry in the horror game franchise. Fans have been patiently waiting for the 9th mainline entry, and their wait seems to be all worth it.

A few media outlets had the chance to attend Capcom’s presentation on Resident Evil Requiem after the initial reveal, and so far, things are looking promising for the title.

Why it matters: With over 10 years of development and setting new beginnings for the franchise, fans have had their hopes relatively high for Resident Evil Requiem. They’ll be glad to know that Capcom has once again managed to deliver.

First Reviews For Resident Evil Requiem Are Out On Social Media.

The visuals for Resident Evil Requiem have seemed to be bumped up significantly over the past few entries, with Capcom now aiming to achieve photorealistic graphics. The title appears to lean towards a darker and grittier approach, with a few lights flickering in the dark, abandoned halls of the building.

Moreover, new gameplay mechanics have also been introduced. Grace can now carry bottles and throw them to distract enemies. Most of the FBI agent’s gameplay focused on solving puzzles, as she was seen carrying no weapons, only a lighter.

Like any other Resident Evil game, Grace was being pursued by a gigantic creature with long claws. This would be similar to Mr. X or Lady Dimitrescu’s characters in the past entries.

Resident Evil Requiem Reportedly Has A Development Cycle Of A Decade.

Capcom’s biggest surprise was revealing that Resident Evil Requiem can be played in both first-person and third-person perspectives, effectively ending the long-standing debate over which is better.

However, despite Capcom referring to the title as “High-stakes cinematic action,” any sort of action was practically missing from the game. Previous reports mentioned Leon Kennedy as a second playable character, suggesting the action segments may be reserved for him.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem Confirmed To be Playable In Both First and Third Person

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil 9 Requiem is set to utilize both first and third-person camera perspectives.
  • This approach is a first for the IP and likely drove the budget higher.
  • Capcom still recommends using first-person for the best gameplay experience.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem was just announced last week, and Capcom has already returned with additional marketing material. The latest entry in this long-running series introduces Grace Ashcroft, returning to the survival horror gameplay fans loved in Resident Evil 7.

Also returning from Resident Evil 7 is the first-person gameplay, but Capcom has offered a unique twist this time.

Why it matters: Ahead of this reveal, it was heavily debated whether Capcom would opt for first or third-person gameplay for Resident Evil 9 Requiem.

Media previews of the title confirm that Resident Evil 9 Requiem is the first game in the series to support both camera perspectives. In fact, it offers a simple toggle for players to swap between first and third-person, allowing for immense freedom in gameplay.

According to Capcom, first-person gameplay is recommended for the best experience. This is particularly interesting because the decision likely led to additional development time for Capcom, given the need for different animations for the two perspectives.

In the past, the studio typically stuck to one or the other, but Resident Evil 9 Requiem is said to be the most ambitious entry in the series. Therefore, it will be interesting to see how this choice impacts moment-to-moment gameplay.

Perhaps the first-person gameplay will be best suited to the more tense moments of the game, with third-person being the best option for more hectic combat scenarios. Whatever the case, Capcom is certainly pulling out all the stops.

Grace Confirmed As Protagonist In Resident Evil 9 Requiem, Not Leon Kennedy

Story Highlight
  • While recent claims suggest that Leon Kennedy would be the main protagonist of Resident Evil 9 Requiem, this doesn’t appear to be the case.
  • The director of the title confirms that Grace Ashcroft will be the main character in the game.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem was recently announced during the Summer Game Fest, and fans are already looking forward to it. Following the announcement, many old titles in the franchise have seen surges in popularity, further suggesting that the hype is real for the Requiem.

While many were expecting Leon to be the main protagonist of the title, which a reliable leaker has also claimed, the director of Resident Evil 9 confirms that Grace Ashcroft will be the main character in Resident Evil Requiem.

Why it matters: Although the franchise typically features familiar faces in the title, recent reports suggest that the developers aim to make the latest release a revolutionary one in the franchise, thereby introducing new characters.

Neon Slice reported in his latest YouTube video that the Resident Evil director has confirmed, in a private message to platinum ambassadors, that Grace Ashcroft will be the main protagonist.

Since the original video is only available in Japanese, the YouTuber asked someone fluent in the language to translate it. It has also been claimed that this will mark one of the most significant shifts for the series, as the franchise usually features similar faces.

However, this won’t be the first time the title introduces a new protagonist, as titles like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard have also introduced new characters to the series before.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem
Resident Evil 9 Requiem Coming Out Next Year.

The director has also stated that Resident Evil 9 Requiem is going to be his best work yet, and he expects the title to surpass every other title in the franchise he directed. However, he didn’t mention anything about Leon Kennedy in his video.

Therefore, it remains a mystery for fans whether Leon Kennedy will be part of the next game in the franchise. However, one thing is for sure: Grace Ashcroft will be the centre of the title.

Nonetheless, are you excited about the title? Do you think this is a significant step taken by the developers? Share your thoughts with us in the comments or join the Tech4Gamers forum.

Nintendo Switch 2 Raw Power Is More Like Xbox Series S Than PS4, Says Dev

Story Highlight
  • A Koei Tecmo developer says the Nintendo Switch 2 is comparable to the Xbox Series S.
  • This is because the console features 12GB of RAM and supports modern features, such as ray tracing.
  • Fans should expect the console to prove its hardware capabilities as the generation progresses further.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for just a few days and has already set a new record. This console is said to be quite an upgrade over the standard Nintendo Switch, bringing big games like Cyberpunk 2077 to life on portable hardware.

On the subject of the hardware, the console has received quite a lot of praise recently. Although many have compared the Nintendo Switch 2 to the PS4, a developer states that this console is closer in power to the current-generation Xbox Series S.

Why it matters: The Xbox Series S supports practically every modern current-gen title, making this comparison quite encouraging for Nintendo’s new console.

Nintendo Has Sold Over 3 Million Consoles Since Release

This statement comes from Koei Tecmo, the team behind Wild Hearts. This monster-hunting title is set to receive an upgraded version for the Nintendo Switch 2, and according to producer Takuto Edagawa, the new Nintendo hardware is more capable than people believe.

He stated that, when considering raw compute power, the console is closer to the Xbox Series S than the PS4. Although Takuto Edagawa did not go into too much detail, the Nintendo Switch comes with more memory than the Xbox Series S.

It also shows similar results as the Xbox Series S in Cyberpunk 2077, validating this statement further. Unlike the PS4, Nintendo’s new console comes with support for ray-tracing and machine learning, all of which combined, make for a console more capable than the 12-year-old PS4.

I think it can be thought as closer to the Series S

GPU Manufacturers: Increase In Production Before Tariffs Apply And Then Sell The Stock When The Tariffs Are In Effect

Story Highlight
  • Graphics card manufacturers are increasing their production in anticipation of potential US tariffs on Chinese goods, despite a current temporary pause in the trade dispute.
  • This production increase is focused on more profitable mid-range and high-end models, which could lead to shortages of budget-friendly cards.
  • Any new tariffs would likely push prices well beyond official MSRPs.

The tariff issue has calmed down after the recent lull. The Trump administration’s tariff plans have been temporarily paused. However, the situation remains volatile, and as a result, our industry is looking ahead.

Reportedly, graphics card manufacturers want to ramp up graphics card production before the deadline of July 9th to make more money.

The underlying issue of tariffs between China and the US continues to impact businesses and the supply chain. The temporary peace agreement is only a short time to change strategies without knowing what’s coming. That’s why they are ramping up graphics card production, as the move is beneficial for consumers.

The MSRPs set by NVIDIA and AMD are now essentially a joke, as manufacturers operate with such narrow margins. The great majority of graphics card models fall below these prices, and those that can afford them are fortunate. At the absolute least, things will worsen significantly in the US. And after that, they will most likely expand to South Korea, Japan, and Europe.

Nikkei Asia reports that both MSI and GIGABYTE are increasing graphics card production to increase stock availability after the tariffs. Joseph Hsu, the president of MSI, disclosed the strategy to accumulate stock headed for the US to “meet market demand.”

Additionally, since they will be concentrating on the most interesting markets, the mid-range and premium segments, the stock may be higher in these and nearly zero in the other models.

This is a wise strategy, as a large number of graphics cards will sell at a higher price with greater profit under the guise of tariffs.

In any event, manufacturers benefit from increasing graphics card production now, tariffs or not, as consumers will rush to purchase due to fear of price increases.

  • It has already gathered over 14K positive reviews in just over a day.

Dune: Awakening was first announced over three years ago during the Gamescom 2020, and after much anticipation, the title has finally been released.

It should also be noted that this list does not include free-to-play titles like Counter-Strike 2 and others, but it’s still an impressive start from the title. Not only is the title doing well on the top sellers, but the reviews of the title are even better.

Just over a day since its release, Dune: Awakening has already received over 16K reviews so far, and 88% of them are positive, which means that over 14K reviews of the title are positive, and it has only around 1.8K negative reviews.
