BioShock Dev’s Upcoming Judas Won’t Have Live Service Elements

Story Highlight
  • The creator of BioShock has revealed that his upcoming game won’t have any live-service elements.
  • He thinks a game that is good enough doesn’t need such elements to get rewarded by the audience.
  • However, despite being in development for a long time, there is no release window for the title.

Live Service elements in a single-player game plague the experience for many. This feature is even hated in the live-service games, so adding it to a single-player is pure stupidity.

However, fans should be delighted to know that there won’t be any live service elements in Judas, a title from the creator of BioShock.

Why it matters: Adding live service elements to video games, particularly in single-player games, is a significant concern because it reveals the developer/publisher’s greed has no limits. If the game is free-to-play, then it makes sense, but otherwise it just doesn’t.

Judas was revealed officially during The Game Awards 2022. This game has also been confirmed to be a single-player game with no live service elements and microtransactions, which should be the norm but is now considered a win.

Recently, the creator of BioShock did an interview with Lawrence Sonntag from Nightdive Studios, where he revealed that Judas will be an old-school single-player title. He also showed some gratitude toward Take-Two that the publisher didn’t force them to add any live service elements such as microtransactions.

Judas is a very old-school game. Like, you buy the game and get the whole thing. There’s no live service, because everything that we do is in service of telling the story and transporting the player somewhere.

BioShock Fans Are Looking Forward To Judas

While he is against adding microtransactions into his video game, Levine isn’t against someone who adds them into their video games. He understands how expensive developing a game can be.

That said, the developers can create a game without such elements because the publisher has placed sufficient trust in them to produce a game that is good enough to avoid recoupment or generate profits through live-service elements.

He further praised games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Baldur’s Gate 3, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and Cyberpunk 2077 by saying that these traditional single-player titles don’t feature any kind of microtransactions, and the fandom has rewarded them.

BioShock creator’s upcoming game remains shrouded in mystery, having been in development for around 8 years, with no release window or major announcement in sight.

What do you think about Levine’s stance on single-player games? Do you think elements like microtransactions ruin a single-player title? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion

Intel CEO Admits Defeat, Says The Company Can Never Catch Up To The Competition

Story Highlight
  • Intel’s CEO has admitted that the company has been left too far behind by the competition.
  • In particular, Team Blue has given up on trying to fight Nvidia’s AI dominance.
  • It now intends to move in a different direction in the AI industry.

Intel has been the worst of the three major PC giants in recent years. Where AMD and Nvidia have made significant strides in their respective fields, Intel has lost the dominant position it once held over the market.

Between mass layoffs and major CPU failures, the company is clearly lagging behind the competition. In fact, CEO Lip-Bu Tan states that Intel’s competition is so far ahead that it is simply too late to catch up.

Why it matters: The company reported net losses of over $3 billion recently, highlighting the dire situation it currently faces.

Intel And AMD
Ryzen Proved To Be Much Bigger Than Team Blue Expected

According to a leaked internal conversation, CEO Lip-Bu Tan has admitted defeat to the likes of AMD and Nvidia. Moreover, he believes that Intel can no longer be considered among the top 10 semiconductor companies.

I think the world has changed. We are not in the top 10 semiconductor companies.

He later went on to address the current conversation around AI training and Intel’s role in the industry.

CEO Lip-Bu Tan believes the company is too late to this race since Nvidia’s strategy is far too effective. For context, the latter recently hit $4 trillion in company valuation, while Intel was aiming to acquire Nvidia for a mere $20 billion at one point several years ago.

On training (AI), I think it is too late for us.

Still, the CEO has not completely given up just yet. He now aims to target edge AI, a technology that intends to bring AI processing to dedicated devices instead of cloud hardware like Nvidia’s.

As part of these efforts, Team Blue is preparing to hire key personnel who will be crucial to achieving its overall ambition.

Unfortunately for Intel, while these ambitions are certainly interesting, the gaming giant is doing poorly across all fields. Whether it be data centers, GPUs, or OEM systems, AMD and Nvidia have taken over.

Even the biggest handhelds on the market are currently dominated by AMD and Nvidia. Although Intel has tried to fire back with the likes of the MSI Claw, the gaming giant has seen mixed to poor results. Therefore, the future seems uncertain for this semiconductor giant.

Sony Has Laid Off Around 5x More Employees Than Microsoft Since 2008

Story Highlight
  • Microsoft has laid off around 15k employees in 2025.
  • Due to the layoffs, the company has received a lot of backlash from the fans.
  • However, in comparison, Sony has laid off 5 times more employees than Microsoft, but it hasn’t received any backlash at all.

Microsoft recently laid off 9,000 employees and canceled projects like Perfect Dark. Before that, the company laid off 4,000 employees. The company has cut many jobs too quickly, which is unfortunate, as many lost their jobs and may find it hard to get back on their feet quickly.

Due to the layoffs, the company has been a constant target of hate from the fans, with some even claiming that they are going to cancel their Game Pass subscription to boycott Xbox. However, they probably don’t know that Sony has actually laid off far more employees than Microsoft ever did. For reference, the former has cut nearly 5x more jobs than the latter ever since 2008.

Why it matters: Fans not saying anything to Sony and constantly hating Microsoft is proof of double standards in the gaming industry. Even some popular figures like Geoff Keighley have been seen favoring the former more.

25000 Gaming Industry Layoffs 2023-2024
Layoffs Have Become Pretty Common In the Gaming Industry

In 2008, Microsoft employed around 91,000 people as full-time employees. Among them, 55,000 are based in the United States, and the rest 36,000 are employed internationally.

So, the total workforce of Microsoft was around 91,000. However, Sony employed around 180,000 in 2008, and guess how many are still left? Only 113,000. That means the company has laid off a whopping 67,000 employees since 2008.

On the other hand, the workforce of Microsoft in 2024 was around 228k. This means the company has increased its workforce by 137,000 more than the employees currently at Sony.

Microsoft 2008 Employees
Microsoft Employed 91,000 People in 2008, But Now Its Workforce Has Increased To 215,000.

Now, let’s add the 15k employees Microsoft laid off this year, so the overall number would come down to 215, which is still way more than Sony’s. It should also be noted that Sony laid off 900 employees this year, which, by the way, were 8% of the total PlayStation employees.

So, this means that Sony has cut around 5 times more jobs than Microsoft since 2008, which is a massive difference, but perhaps no one, or at least the majority, is ready to accept it.

What do you think about the fact that Sony has laid off way more employees than Microsoft? Do you believe Sony will receive a similar outcry from the fandom? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion

Even Ghost of Tsushima Fans Aren’t Excited For Yotei

Story Highlight
  • Ghost of Yotei is a sequel to a critically acclaimed game, but many fans aren’t excited about it.
  • Even the fans of Ghost of Tsushima aren’t hyped for this game.
  • Ghost of Yotei is set to release on October 2, 2025.

Ghost of Yotei was announced during the PlayStation State of Play last year, and to no one’s surprise, it shocked the fans. While fans were demanding a sequel to the renowned Ghost of Tsushima, they were probably not expecting such a big game to appear at a state of play.

However, with the passage of time, the game’s hype is dying, and fewer people are actually excited about it. Following the gameplay reveal video, many fans expressed disappointment, as the game appears to be too similar to its prequel. Now, even Ghost of  Tsushima fans aren’t excited for Yotei.

Why it matters: Those who enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima were pretty hyped for Yotei, but now a lot of them seem to have changed their mind.

The Former Sony Boss Previously Said Not To Buy The Game If You Don’t Like It

On NeoGAF, one of the biggest gaming forums, a person posted, “I loved Ghost of Tsushima… why am I not excited for Ghost of Yotei??” The thread is filled with fans claiming they have no interest in this game due to forced agenda and other reasons.

DK if its just feeling burnt out on the setting, them not marketing the game well, having doubts it will be improved over part 1, and suffering from boredom of yet another she-quel. I feel meh about this game.. anyone else in the same boat?

Another fan commented, “I platinumed GoT, played it a ton, but have no interest in this sequel and plan on skipping it”. There are many more comments, with one even joking around that you don’t want to play as a strong female protagonist in a respectful, politically strong historical setting?

Even with the recent gameplay footage, the game hasn’t managed to change the perspective of such fans. The similarity with Ghost of Tsushima is too high, despite a 300-year time difference between the two periods. Due to that, the fandom was expecting a bit more innovation.

The Fortnite Experience On PS5 Is Fast, Fluid, And Fun

Story Highlight
  • Fortnite runs very smoothly on the PS5 and loads much faster than before.
  • The game also looks better than ever, thanks to the upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.
  • At the same time, Fortnite remains very fun and engaging.

Until recently, I was not playing much Fortnite. After having played the game during its heyday, I drifted away from the battle-royale for a long while. However, Chapter 5 sparked my interest, and my friends insisted I try the game on PS5.

Going into Fortnite on PS5, I was curious whether the SSD would make a notable difference and how Unreal Engine 5 would influence the experience. Here’s my conclusion after playing the game again for a whole week using my DualSense controller.

Why it matters: Fortnite is currently dominating the entire live-service genre, being one of the most played titles on the PS5.

Game-Changing Speed

Fortnite
Fortnite Is Faster Than Ever On New Hardware

Fortnite is much faster than I expected on the PS5. Jumping into a match from a cold boot used to take well over a minute on PS4, but the PS5 made it possible to do so in just twenty seconds.

Playing at 120FPS made the whole experience even better, allowing me to build with incredible precision. Finally, I was able to enjoy split-screen couch co-op gameplay at 60FPS thanks to the PS5’s Zen 2 CPU and other hardware.

Revamped Visuals

Fortnite on Unreal Engine 5 offers a completely new experience thanks to Nanite and Lumen. Quality mode allowed Lumen to shine in all its glory, while I enjoyed the fluidity of 120FPS when playing on Performance mode.

Elsewhere, the DualSense proved to be a game-changer. Each Cobra DMR shot was accompanied by a new sense of resistance thanks to the controller, and Haptic Feedback on the triggers added an extra layer of immersion in elements like the storm walls and glider.

All of this led to the game feeling better than ever, which made each session less tiring than it used to be.

An Endless Amount of Fun

Fortnite
Endless Fun Awaits In Fortnite

At the end of the day, Fortnite on the PS5 was extremely fun. Split-screen gameplay enabled simultaneous progress, and I could even use Share Screen to broadcast my gameplay at 1080p to my friends with little to no latency.

Cross-play also made playing with other platforms a breeze. Additionally, PlayStation’s Fall sale brought an unexpected perk. A limited edition DualSense with the Peely and Fishstick art went on sale in November, serving as a reminder of the ongoing events regarding the game. You can learn more on the game’s official website to buy Fortnite on PlayStation 5 for the cheapest Prices.

In conclusion, Fortnite on the PS5 has given me a reason to stick with the game. Epic is still iterating elements like Creative Islands on the console, and the PS5 Pro offers additional visual upgrades.

However, the core PS5 experience is already solid enough for me to continue playing for several more months.

Fans Believe Superman Game Should Be Doable Following Recent Hits Like God of War

Story Highlight
  • Fans believe the gaming industry should try its hand at a Superman game again.
  • They state that examples like God of War and Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot show extreme power fantasies done right.
  • James Gunn’s recent success with Superman might prompt a proper AAA gaming project in the future.

Warner Bros. does not currently have a Superman game in the works, but this has not deterred fans from calling for a gaming adaptation based on the Son of Krypton.

With James Gunn’s recent take on the character becoming a massive hit, demand for a Superman game is back in full force. In fact, fans are arguing that the notion of the character being too difficult to adapt is outdated.

Why it matters: Superman has never received a proper game on par with Spider-Man and Batman: Arkham. The character has also been missing from gaming for well over a decade at this point.

Superman
The Character Last Appeared In Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

For context, it has long been argued that Superman is too overpowered for his own good. Fans used to believe that a game based on the character would not work because the experience would not be satisfying enough.

In the past, games like Superman Returns attempted to introduce a health bar for Metropolis instead of the character to work around this problem. However, such attempts have been largely hit or miss.

Anyhow, fans on Neogaf recently argued that titles like God of War captured a similar power fantasy without overly nerfing the players. Kratos is also much more powerful than fans would expect from playing any of the recent God of War titles, but Santa Monica did a solid job balancing the character’s lore and in-game strength.

Fans also pointed to examples like Dragon Ball Z Kakarot since Goku boasts similar powers as Superman, including super speed, flight, super strength, and various long-ranged attacks.

Fans still acknowledged that a proper Superman game would be tricky to make, but they believe examples like Batman: Arkham and Spider-Man are proof that different types of superhero games can be done well.

Superman
The Character’s Destructive Powers Are Unlike Any Other Superhero’s Abilities

Following James Gunn’s latest film, Superman is expected to go through a new wave of popularity. Perhaps this will encourage game studios and DC to finally attempt a proper AAA project based on the character.

More films based on the character are expected in the near future, so a brand new game seems like a safe bet in the coming year.

Do you think a Superman game would work well? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

Fans Claim That Aloy From Horizon Games Is The Most Boring Video Game Protagonist

Story Highlight
  • Fans claim that Aloy from Horizon games seems dull in general.
  • Her character has zero depth and is often rude for no reason, making her unappealing to gamers.
  • Moreover, her voice acting doesn’t help either, and her character only worsens with the sequel.

The biggest reason why single-player games will always be dominant over multiplayer is because of the narrative and the storyline that the games build. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3, and The Last of Us feature some of the best fictional stories and relatable characters.

However, not every time are we blessed with a good storyline or even characters in some instances. As fans claim, one notable example is from the Horizon games, with lead Aloy being called the most boring protagonist in the history of video games.

Why it matters: The Horizon franchise is hailed for its gameplay and for having debuted the Decima engine. However, its protagonist held back its true potential, which would otherwise make it one of the best IPs under PlayStation.

Who else finds aloy a boring character? Especially when she talks.
byu/ComfortableAmount993 invideogames

According to fans, Aloy is a dull character who hasn’t evolved much throughout the two entries. Most fans blame the writer for making her seem almost like an Alien, lacking personality, a problem that nearly every other character had in those games.

Despite Aloy’s tragic background, players felt no connection to her, and her flaws were too numerous to be overlooked, making her seem picture-perfect and fail to relate to players. There are notable examples of other great female leads, but Aloy falls to the bottom of that list.

Thread Discussing Why Aloy Is A Poor Written Character

Some even claim that her emotions sound forced, and she is stone-faced throughout all of her appearances. The voice acting doesn’t help either, and pales in comparison to the motion capture the game has.

Aloy only regressed further in the story with the sequel, featuring even a laid-back version with a stiffer version. Her facial model, which was getting some unwanted adjustments, didn’t help either; essentially, it made the character look ugly.

Witcher 4 Hype Has Led CDPR To Become One of Europe’s Most Valuable Companies

Story Highlight
  • The Witcher 4 is one of the most anticipated games and has helped soar CDPR’s stocks.
  • This has helped the company become one of Europe’s most valuable companies.
  • Its sales even surpass other departments like defense spending and AI companies.

CD Projekt Red is undeniably one of the finest video game developers of the current era. Known for massive hits like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, the developer has left a significant mark in the industry as it approaches The Witcher 4.

The hype for The Witcher 4 is so high that it has led CDPR to become one of the most valuable companies in Europe, despite the title still being years away. It has even overtaken other major departments of the region.

Why it matters: The Witcher 3, over 10 years later, is still considered the gold standard for RPGs, so naturally, the hype for the next installment in the franchise is already through the roof.

CDPR is now one of Europe’s most valuable companies.

According to Bloomberg, CD Projekt is the most expensive stock in Europe’s benchmark Stoxx 600 Index, trading at 29 times next year’s estimated revenue. That leaves even a basket of AI winners trailing in the dust.

The biggest selling point for investors is the potential boost in sales when the fourth installment of The Witcher franchise is released. So, despite the fiasco that was Cyberpunk 2077’s release, investors and fans still trust the studio.

It even surpassed the defense and AI spending index.

Compared to other major studios like Take-Two, Ubisoft, and EA, CDPR still soars a lot higher. Another reason for this is the company’s continued support for its games. It is still adding new content to Cyberpunk and even Witcher 3 at times.

Nonetheless, this proves how massive CDPR has become. The company also recently offered job openings for people who were laid off by Microsoft, and is one of the few who haven’t had any layoffs as of yet.

What are your thoughts on The Witcher 4 hype making CDPR one of Europe’s most valuable companies? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers forum.

Death Stranding 2 Looks So Photo Realistic, It’s Hard To Tell From Real Life

Story Highlight
  • Death Stranding 2 has received praise from fans throughout the world.
  • One of the best aspects of the game is that it looks almost exactly like real life.
  • The game is actually so photo realistic that it is pretty hard to distinguish some locations from the real-life ones.

Death Stranding 2 was released last month, and it is one of the highest-rated games of 2025. This game was praised highly by the critics as well as fans, rightfully so. That game has managed to surprise many fans in a good way, which is something that Kojima probably didn’t like, given he didn’t want to appeal to the mass media.

That said, it doesn’t change the fact that he indeed created a masterpiece that people are going to talk about for years. One of the most surprising things about this game is its photo realism. It is so photo realistic that it is actually hard to distinguish it from real life

Why it matters: Without a doubt, Kojima Productions has taken the Decima engine to the next level, and many fans agree. The developer has managed to use the engine to the extent that it makes it hard to differentiate the in-game locations from the original ones.

Death Stranding 2 vs Real Life
Death Stranding 2 vs Real Life Side by Side Comparison

SynthPotato on Twitter shared that two pictures among one are from the game, and one is from real life. While you can tell which one is from the game because of the character’s outfit and, of course, the prompt, the photo realism is just next level, probably something that has not been seen yet.

Fans are even debating that the next GTA game in the series, which is said to shake the market and become the biggest ever release in the history of gaming, won’t be as photo realistic, which shows just how impressive this feat is.

t’s actually insane. I don’t think GTA will be as photo realistic as this because it will have a different art direction. This is just stunning that moment when you first drop into the game and he stands up is just crazy.

-Fan

While, of course, gameplay matters more than the graphics and photo realism, a game that looks this good is just so refreshing.

EA Has Shelved The Need For Speed Franchise, It’s Claimed

Story Highlight
  • A long-time Speedhunters contributor has revealed that EA has shelved the Need for Speed franchise.
  • The company went through some restructuring recently after financial losses, which explains why they’d shift away from a franchise that hasn’t been performing well.
  • EA is focused on Battlefield 6, a game they have their future riding.

Racing games today aren’t even a fraction of what they used to be a couple of console generations ago. The entire genre has seen a tremendous decline with only a few franchises on top, etc, Forza Horizon, Gran Turismo.

Regardless of whether you’re a gamer or not, the Need for Speed franchise is known by almost everyone, even expanding its horizon to Hollywood, even though the venture was a failed one. Now, a new report has suggested that EA has shelved the Need for Speed franchise.

Why it matters: The Need for Speed games are an essential part of EA’s legacy and have contributed to the reputation the publisher has today. It’s such a tragedy to see the franchise be wasted.

Speedhunters Contributor Claiming Need For Speed Is Shelved On Facebook

This claim comes from Matthew Everingham, a long-time contributor to the Speedhunters website. For those not familiar, the Speedhunters website is a platform dedicated to the car culture. The site was owned and funded by EA, but recently the published pulled the plug on it.

EA shelved Need For Speed – Matthew Everingham

As such, the claim of the Need for Speed franchise being shelved does seem to have credibility, especially coming from a long-time contributor of the site.

EA also announced the shutdown of Need for Speed Rivals servers, sparking a retaliation among fans, especially since this news came after the recent rise of the Stop Killing Games movement.

EA Executives Made $60 Million Despite Company-Wide Layoffs

EA has had a rough time with games recently, and the past few Need for Speed titles were essentially considered flops. Moreover, the company went through some restructuring lately, resulting in layoffs and a few project cancellations.

As such, it is understandable they’d streamline their focus on a few franchises. Currently, EA is locked in on Battlefield 6, a title they’ve reportedly spent $400 million on so far. The game also had several studios working on it, which leaves little to no room for other titles.

Fans Fear EA Might Kill Battlefield 4 After Players Can’t Rent Community Servers Anymore

Story Highlight
  • Battlefield 4 server owners report that they’re unable to rent or renew community servers.
  • They fear EA might be putting an end to Battlefield 4, a move to make players move onto the upcoming Battlefield 6.
  • The Stop Killing Games movement has been trending recently, especially after publishers are putting an end to some of the most beloved games without any reason.

Even though EA has been out of the FPS competition for a few years due to the subpar release of the most recent Battlefield 2042, that still wasn’t enough to kill the franchise.

Older Battlefield games are still played to this date, with decades-old titles surpassing the newer ones in terms of player count.

Battlefield 4 still sees hundreds of thousands of daily players, most of whom rely on fan-run community servers, which are now down. Several server owners say they can’t rent or renew servers, sparking fears that EA may be planning to kill the game.

Why it matters: Battlefield 4 is one of the best-selling and performing entries of the franchise that still holds up to date. Killing the game would adversely affect the whole franchise’s reputation, especially when it’s at its lowest.

EA is shutting down BF4 on PlayStation.
byu/llslothll inbattlefield_4

On Reddit, one server owner brought up this issue of not being able to renew their servers, and other owners have corroborated the same problem. EA has completely removed the option of renewing or buying new servers in Battlefield 4.

Moreover, if the owners are unable to renew their servers, it may result in their complete death.

It’s essential to notice that official servers still work at this time of writing, and this issue could very much be a bug from EA’s end. We suggest awaiting EA’s official word on this matter.

On the other hand, fans worry that EA may be doing this to promote Battlefield 6 and draw players to the newer game ahead of its release. As mentioned before, most fans still play older titles compared to new releases.

Battlefield Franchise Used To Generate A Billion In Revenue For EA Before BF 2042’s Release

The Stop Killing Games movement has also taken a rise recently, with many publishers killing older releases, rendering them unable to play. The most recent victim is Need for Speed Rivals, another EA-published game.

Stellar Blade’s PC Launch Boosted Its PS5 Sales by Over 220K Copies

Story Highlight
  • The PC launch of Stellar Blade drove a rare PS5 sales spike, adding over 220,000 console copies sold in under a month.
  • The renewed interest in the PS5 version generated more than $10 million in extra revenue for Sony.
  • The game also set a new concurrent player record for a Sony single-player title on PC.

Stellar Blade’ PC release did more than just smash sales records on Steam. It also gave the PS5 version a rare second wave of growth, adding over 220,000 full‑price copies in under a month.

The game first launched on PS5 in April 2024 and took almost two months to sell its first million copies there. By early 2025, sales on the PS5 had reached 2 million.

When Stellar Blade launched on Steam on June 11, 2025, it sold over 1 million copies in just three days – a much faster start than it had on PS5. This pushed total sales across both platforms past 3 million worldwide.

Why it matters: Stellar Blade’s PC launch helped Sony make an extra $10 million in revenue on PS5 alone.

Stellar Blade PC Port Drove Its PS5 Sales Too
Source: Alinea Analytics.

Usually, PS5 PC ports help boost console sales a little. But this time, Stellar Blade’s PC release clearly helped push more players to buy the game on PS5.

According to Alinea Analytics, by mid-June, the game’s total PS5 sales jumped from about 1.83 million to nearly 2.1 million, an increase of over 220,000 copies in less than a month.

That’s more than four times the growth seen during earlier sales events, which usually added only 30,000 to 50,000 units. What’s more, the PS5 version stayed at its full $69.99 price, bringing in over $10 million in extra revenue for PlayStation, on top of the $70 million or more made from the PC launch.

Furthermore, China played a big part in Stellar Blade’s success on PC. The Steam release attracted a huge audience by including a Chinese voiceover, offering a lower price (around $38 compared to $60), and using local marketing.

Moreover, Stellar Blade hit a new record for a Sony single-player game on PC, with over 183K players on day one and peaking at 192K during launch weekend.
