The gaming industry is in a dire state these days, with frequent layoffs occurring regularly. Xbox was the latest victim of the downsizing practices, which resulted in enormous losses for its internal studios.

As a result, many of the industry’s most incredible talents are now without work. CDPR extended their sympathies to the affected victims from the recent rounds of layoffs and have offered them roles for the development of their upcoming Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2.

Why it matters: It’s great to see developers supporting each other. CDPR’s offering of roles to the victims will probably bring even greater talent to their studio.

CDPR Responds To The Latest Wave Of Layoffs On X

Pawel Sasko, the Associate Game Director for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2, recently tweeted and shared a link to the job openings CDPR is recruiting for across the US, Canada, and Poland.

While CDPR may not be able to provide jobs to all the victims, it’s still a start and a commendable effort. In an era where everyone in the industry is vulnerable to layoffs, CDPR continues to grow and has been actively recruiting for some time now.

Not just CDPR, but Polish game studios are thriving in general. Bloober Team, Techland, and CI Games are notable examples. Poland also became the world’s 4th largest game exporter in 2022.

Currently, Witcher 4 is quite deep into development with a huge number of employees working on it, while Cyberpunk 2 has only just left pre-production. The studio has also recently absorbed Sirius Studio and is now responsible for the development of the spin-off Witcher title.
